I did a carry-out brunch from here pre pandemic and the food was pretty dang good, everything that we ordered (the 1883 Benedict's, and a plate of bacon eggs and toast) tasted great, and the side of crispy brussel sprout salad was a little overdressed with too much sugary sweet dressing, but mostly a hearty dish with the kind of vegetables I love. The only problem that I have is that they forgot my side that went with my entree, the entree was incomplete without the toppings it was supposed to have, and the time estimate was off by about 10 minutes when I got there. basically what it means is I really need to try this place again, because when I called them and mention what happened they were more than, unfortunately with the pandemic shut down there not opening until 4 in the afternoon and I'm never in Anderson that time of day. When we get back to greater regularity I look forward to seeing what other tastiness they can dish out, hopefully all at the same time read more

Honestly not impressed. I got their Kitchen 1883 burger and it was so plain. Honestly steak and shake does a better burger. I was baffled. Two things were great though. The bartender was awesome. Super cool guy. I complained about the burger and he gave me this amazing sauce to put on it. I have no idea why they don't sell it with it to begin with. read more

Wow! I never review restaurants, either positive or negative. However, I felt compelled to give a glowing review after dinner tonight for one simple reason - the service. My daughter and I were solo with the rest of the family tied up so we thought we'd give it a try. Natasha was our server and she was amazing. Prompt service, timely check ins and great menu recs. On top of that, she made my daughter feel like the most important person in the room! I recognize hiring and retaining good servers and staff is a huge challenge for restaurants in the last couple years during the pandemic. I have had my share of crummy experiences. Very good place! The food was top notch. We got wings as the appetizer and my fiancé got shrimp and grits (has a spice to it) and I got the spicy patty melt which was to die for! We also got a couple drinks from the bar (grapefruit with vodka and their blackberry bourbon sour). Everything was so good and we were very impressed! The only suggestion I would have is having their mashed potatoes being served all day! I'm not the biggest fan of crunchy skinny fries (similar to steak and shake) and would have loved to have their mashed potatoes instead for lunch. read more

The prices on the menu seemed a bit high for lunch, but the menu doesn't change for dinner so I guess that's why. The sandwiches were tasty and warm. They have shoestring fries perfectly salted. First time here today. Went for lunch. No tables available so we sat at the bar and had great service. Bartender and managers were all very attentive. Salads with house made dressings were delicious! The cornbread croutons however didn't hold up well to the dressing. My bfs ceviche was great and I enjoyed the crab cakes. I was a little disappointed that the cakes were so small and I was not a fan of the gazpacho they were sitting in. All in all a nice place and we will likely be back to try other dishes. Yum! it was very busy for a Thursday evening, and the workers were hustling to keep up and did an amazing job with the business of the place. The food we had was fresh and tasty. The fries were some of the best. I love when fries are simple and delicious and don't have so much seasoning that one can't taste the potato. These were just simply salted, hot, and crispy! The salmon was amazing, the fish sandwich was tasty, but I wI'll ask for the bread to be unbuttered next time, and the hot chicken sandwich was also enjoyed. We decided to try Kitchen 1883 after seeing some posts about their food on Facebook groups. We got carry-out since eating at the restaurant isn't an option right now and ordered the chicken and waffles, honey dip chicken sandwich, Brussels sprouts appetizer, pretzel and beer cheese appetizer and the kids grilled cheese. Everything was SO GOOD! My son, who usually is a bit of a picky eater, ate every bite of his meal plus some pretzels. My chicken and waffles was crispy and fresh. My husband said his sandwich was very flavorful and the blue cheese slaw that came with it was delicious. They had bottles of wine and mixed drinks available to buy at really great prices (2 for 12 drinks and 50% off wine). To top it off the staff that we encountered were very respectful and seemed to be working their butts off to get everyone their food as soon as they could. I had to wait an extra ten minutes past our pickup time but didn't mind at all because the man who was taking names checked on me several times and was so professional and kind. I will be back to try the lunch/dinner menu. We first went for brunch. The atmosphere is neat and the aesthetics are really clean and simple. The menu seems limited (speaking for brunch, only). I thought the biscuits & gravy were just ok. The biscuits seemed burnt and their was a very large amount of gravy (I guess I'm a snob for a proper gravy to biscuit ratio!). Our server was very friendly but seemed initiated by the tablet they have to take orders on. She couldn't find a few items on the tablet and had to ask the manager. I've been eyeballing this place for awhile & finally got a chance to try it out. We came in on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. I was surprised there was no wait and we were seated promptly. Clean, bright and airy. I got an old fashioned which was strong. He got a Bloody Mary (spicy). They were both excellent. He got the breakfast English muffin with goetta, potatoes, fruit and a pancake on the side. That pancake was seriously amazing. Gritty but smooth & fluffy. I got the raspberry lemon French toast. I'm not sure I'd call it French toast as it didn't seemed to be dipped in egg, but it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back. read more

We came here on a whim one night since we were in the area. It's a bright little place on the inside. There was live music playing on the Thursday we came- I'm not sure if it happens a lot but it was nice. Service was great. Items we ordered: Cauli-Sprouts, Hot honey chicken sandwich, beer battered cod, kids cheeseburger sliders, kids Mac n cheese, and a buckeye brownie. Everything was wonderful! The cauli- sprouts probably being the favorite! The remoulade served with the fish was fantastic. The dessert was a bit salty but overall everyone enjoyed it. Yes, this place is a Kroger restaurant but don't let that deter your taste buds. I mean Kroger is the #1 food grocery chain in the world and they also cater. Not sure if you have ever tasted the treats our Anderson Meat Dept samples, but they definitely do a great job selling through sampling. This restaurant is simply an extension of Kroger's bounty. My family had brunch on this crisp Sunday afternoon. The kids ordered the eggs, hash browns, and bacon w toast and a side of fruit. I ordered chicken and waffles and the wife ordered grits and shrimp with a fried egg on top. Everything was very good. From the portions to the very well paired flavors. The chicken was lightly breaded and the whole grain waffles were light and semi -sweet. The grits were cooked just right with the shrimp for a very savory dish.
