I go to Chrome nail bar right next to this cafe on a regular and I've always been curious to try this cafe out. I see that there is always a pretty steady flow of customers so I decided to pull up Yelp today to check out their reviews. As you can see, they've got pretty much 5 stars out of hundreds of customer reviews (many of who seem to be regulars as well). Gave it a shot today and to no surprise, a line! At my turn, the gentleman at the front was so kind and friendly. He even let me know that I should heat it up for 25 seconds since I was taking it home for later and wrote it on the container as a reminder. Here I am, 10:30 pm at night writing this review about how AMAZING the Knafeh was :) Popped it in the microwave for 25 seconds and drizzled that sugar on top and it was perfectly crispy with the delish stringy cheese on the bottom! It was the perfect touch of both savory and sweet! Pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back for more! Thanks for making my night! read more

I had such high hopes for this place but unfortunately I don't think I would return here. First, the hours are very odd for a "knafeh" place. Quite frankly, I have never seen or heard of any Middle Eastern bakery NOT opening in the morning. For this place to open at noon almost every day seems odd. I also made an honest mistake of thinking they were open at noon on Fridays (I misread the time showing "2:00" as "12:00" since every other day had "12:00"). But when I drove by just before 1:00PM Friday, the door was open, worker was inside and a customer was leaving. So I thought "hey they are open let's get some Knafeh!" I looked around hoping to see a big hot tray of Knafeh like you would see anywhere in the Middle East, but when I ordered a piece, the worker just cut from a tray in the display case and tossed it in the microwave right in front of me. I asked the worker when they make the knafeh or when a fresh tray would be made, and he pointed to the large display saying it takes 45 minutes to order a tray. Not what I asked but it was clear he did not understand what I said. As a proud Lebanese-Armenian, I swallowed my pride and wanted to give them a chance, because quite frankly, doing that doesn't mean a customer is going to get a decent Knafeh. I went ahead and started eating and honestly, it was not bad. BUT, it's still pretty easy to tell a fresh Knafeh from a less-than-fresh and a microwaved knafeh. The "stretchy" cheese was just from the knafeh being difficult to cut from cooking in the microwave. The syrup was light and sweet and the crust was crunchy and had a nice balance for the cheese. While eating, an older gentleman (who I presume to be the owner?) came out and asked if I could eat at the tables outside due to the store closing between 1:00-2:00 on Fridays for their prayer times. For the record, this man was very polite and friendly about it and apologized numerous times for the inconvenience. But at the same time, why even open for one hour at noon, just to close for an hour, and reopen again? Why not adjust the times or post it or do something to let customers know that 1 -either the store closes for an hour or 2 - just open the store at a later time (although why it isn't open in the morning I still do not know). In the end, I was not happy or satisfied with this experience. Between the not-fresh knafeh, then being microwaved, and the issue with the store "closing", it was not a great experience or one to make me go back. read more

I know it's all about the Knafeh here after all its name is Knafeh café. However, I am head over heels for their date filled mamoul cookies. So buttery, melt in your mouth, full on date flavor inside. Perfect with a cup of tea. Also like their Hilbeh which is a nice earthy, warm spiced semolina cake (contains anise seed) soaked in sweet syrup. The Hareeseh is also so good a semolina cake that's drenched in homemade syrup & honey.They make their Halawet Jebn very good too which is a sweet cheese dough on the outside with a clotted cream filling in the center called Ashta. Love their Aish Al seraya as well. It's a clotted cream topping with a toast bread bottom that's soaked in orange blossom water. So glad this delicious family owned Palestinian bakery is still going strong in Anaheim. Parking can be tricky if you come at the wrong time, keep circling the lot you are bound to find a spot eventually. read more

What really made this cafe stand out, however, was the friendly and helpful owner, who took the time to explain all of the desserts and their ingredients. Everything is made fresh and in-house, which is evident in the quality of the desserts. Prices were very reasonable, and the cafe is definitely family-friendly. The owner was accommodating to our requests and even made suggestions for other items we might enjoy. Knafeh is my favorite dessert and on days I crave it and not crave making it, this place is a perfect choice. The knafeh is always freshly prepared and oh so perfectly delicious. Knafeh is by far my favorite Middle Eastern dessert. Being Lebanese, I have super high expectations of it. After getting this recommendation, I knew I had to swing by during my trip in Anaheim. My friend and I decided to split two of the Knafehs - the "soft" one and "crispy" one, as they call it. Both came out to ~$11. I was surprised to see that after cutting the slices, they were put in the microwave to be heated. I thought they'd be warmed up in an oven. Additionally, they weren't heated up for as long as they should have. The sweet cheese should be pull-able, but it wasn't. They did put some syrup on top which I liked but again, it was concentrated to specific places on the knafeh. I do appreciate the effort in making authentic Knafeh and although it was close, it did miss the mark for me. I love Turkish coffee and this has the best I've had. This tiny cafe is a great place to unwind until the massive amount of caffeine kicks in. You think espresso is strong? This coffee laughs at your espresso. Turkish coffee is non filtered coffee. Old school style of boiling the powder fine ground beans. They bring the pot to your table along with beautiful clay cups and you pour it for you and your company. Between cups they'll heat the remaining coffee up for you to keep it hot. Don't be a wuss and add creamer and sugar. Drink it black! There's something extra special about the coffee here. It's like they add cardamon to it. Some unique flavor profile. To sweeten up your experience get a slice of knafeh. It's a dessert made from cheese, shredded wheat, and sweet syrup. They also have a cream version instead of cheese. Squirt bottles of simple syrup to sweeten as much as you like. They also have warbat which is like baklava but with cream inside. Very cool place. Can't wait to return! read more

Sadly I was one of their first customers ever going back to their store near Beach Blvd. This place has only gone downhill, I came in yesterday because the other guys were closed and service was rude, the syrup resembled water more than syrup (which they charge for) and the Cheese in the Knafeh, what cheese it was so thin it was barely there, and mind you they are charging for it, well where is it? It's like its been brushed on by a paint brush, color of knafeh is so orange it seems fake, I have been craving Knafeh for a long time, should have waited for my favorite place to re-open the next day rather than flush money down the drain like this. I have been looking for Ashta (cream pudding) in OC since I moved here. While scrolling through Yelp, I stumbled upon Knafeh Cafe. Looked through the reviews, pictures and menu. Their Ashta looked exactly the same from what I used to get from Downtown LA so I thought I'd give this place a try. When I got there, the place was located in a small plaza with lots of parking spaces. The place itself is pretty small with only about 6 tables including outside seating. From the way it looks, they might not have a restroom available to the public. Also, the place seems old and untidy but it is not filthy. If you catch my drift. Now for the food, they have a wide selection of food from Ashta to Knafeh. They even have ice cream and coffee. The owners/cashiers were really nice and helpful. They were very accomodating to our questions with regards to their food. Anyway, their Ashta tasted a little different from what I'm used to. But their Knafeh was so freaking good. This is the first time that I've had this dessert and it didn't disappoint me. Lastly, I tried their Turkish Coffee. Definitely strong in smell and taste. Very dark color and a different blend from what I'm used to. I would give it a try again! I have been coming to this place and buying Knafeh 4 times in a row now. It is that good!
