This is definitely not your basic donut shop. Service was fast and definitely friendly with everyone. You can tell they make personal connections with customers. Viet coffee was exactly the taste I was expecting.

"Worst donuts ever", "worst service ever". The place isn't that clean either. Deceptive technique to sell more. A guy ahead of us ordered 3 donuts and the rude woman behind the counter gave him 3 boxes of donuts (over $40). He tried to correct her but she took advantage of him being nice and pushed the 3 boxes of donuts. He was so nice, she totally took advantage of his nice manners. I was at least hoping for good donuts but no one even could finish theirs. Three different flavors, all bad. Don't waste your time and money on this disgusting place with deceptive techniques.

Everyone who works here is so sweet. Fun donuts with vegan options + great Viet coffee. What we got: apple donut, filled strawberry shortcake, & crème brûlée. All fantastic. The vegan blueberry is amazing too. Sweet and creamy viet coffee We crave their coffee and sometimes go two days in a row. So good. Donuts make a cute gift for someone that loves sweets.

Best donuts in Long Beach. Period! Donuts, cronuts, coffees, and all kind of treat. I've tried so many things here and love them all!

You need to get Knead in your life! Visited Long Beach and my brother took me to one of his favorite donut shops. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and generous! Along with the half dozen I ordered, he added more and filled my box. In addition, he gave me a free Vietnamese coffee, and I was able to try the various levels of sweetness before I chose, which was great! I chose the 50% sweet and felt it was nicely balanced. As for the donuts, what can I say? They are true gourmet donuts and so unique. My favorite donut was the Ube donut and least favorite was the Dubai donut. I thought I would like the Dubai the most but it didn't hit like I thought it would. The rest were amazing and the Kronuts were a true treat. Another thing I loved was that I went the week of Halloween and there were many festive donuts to match the theme. My Ube donuts had chocolate bats on them, and the gentleman told me they also have festive donuts for Christmas, including the Grinch!! These donuts are wonderful, not just for yourself, but to take to something special. These will be a crowd pleaser and I look forward to coming back when I'm in the area.

The only reason I give this place less than a perfect score is because I think I've spent a grand total of eight minutes here in person. But don't get it twisted, Knead Donuts & Tea is worth all the hype. The parking lot is private but semi-limited. The decor on the inside and outside are vibrant and showcases the LB neighborhood. The staff is exceptionally kind hearted (we came near closing time and they gifted us with extra pastries after we bought a half dozen and some coffee from them). But what makes an eight minute experience exceptional is their reputation proceeds them. I've had their coffee and donuts a few times and every time it has been fantastic. The donut is crisp where the sugar glazes its surfaces, the flavors are strong and balance well with coffee, and the visuals be slaying all social media outlets. They are unique in their selection and they execute everything well. One of my favorites is the crème brûlée donut. Nice crunch for the caramelized exterior and a creamy not-too-sweet interior. A treat through and through. Whether you buy your goodies and hang inside to beat the heat or you take these delectable donuts to a party, you'll understand why you NEED Knead Donuts & Tea.

I haven't been to Knead in a long time and now they have 4 locations. The Man working the counter was very generous when I brought my sister for her first visit. We tried almost every donut and ordered a coffee. This is a very unique place and has the most creative donuts in LB. The best donuts I've had during my lifetime are Knead, Parlor Doughnuts in Oceanside, and Sidecar in Costa Mesa.

I've heard about this before but never got the chance to try it until this week. I'm not a huge fan of donuts so I don't go out of my way to search for it. But a few days ago, after my pcp appt I was driving by on my way to my next appointment I popped in to get something sweet. The display was kinda disappointing. The inside looked like every other donut shop. Food was just behind a clear glass window without additional covering. When I saw the prices on the price tag, I thought I was mistaken. Each donut was $5+. That's ridiculous. These donuts are unique compared to others of course but don't justify the price. I looked at their drink choices; boba teas are also $6+. I didn't get any so I'm not sure if it'll justify the price. Anyways, it's def one of those special occasion places because nobody can afford to eat this often. Girl behind the counter was nice though.

They have their own parking lot with plenty of parking. The guava cream cheese and fancy strawberry croissant were good. They were light and fluffy and not too sweet. The strawberry shortcake was ok. I got a hot Vietnamese coffee with oat milk and it was pretty good (also not too sweet). They close at 3pm on Saturdays but asked us to leave at 2:30 so they could start cleaning up. My friends and I went to the parking lot and sat in my car to chat for a bit and around 2:50 someone came up to my car and said they close the parking lot at 2:45 and asked us to leave. They were nice about it but it seemed weird when Google, Yelp, and the front door all say they close at 3...

You need KNEAD in your life! This is known as a gourmet donut shop, the donuts at Knead are specialty donuts with distinct flavors like dulce de leche, strawberry cheesecake, and creme brulee to name a few. The donuts are priced on the extravagant end, but they're worth the price! It's dangerous to live so close to this donut shop, I've tried several donuts and they're all delicious and fresh. My favorite has to be dulce de leche. Aside from their donuts, they also have breakfast sandwiches and Vietnamese iced coffee, cafe sua da. The breakfast sandwiches are on soft croissants and eggs are runny unless you tell them how to prepare it. They give you a choice of cheeses too. The coffee comes in different strengths. I've purchased donuts as small gifts to coworkers and friends and they always ask me where I purchased them from! Service is SUPER friendly, my favorite staff member is Amy. She's so cool and sweet! Food is always prompt, there's a small area to eat inside, there's always parking available!

Came here New Year's Day for breakfast. The parking is good. Walked in expecting a large donut display but there was not much. The available donuts looked nice and very decadent. We got two ham cheese croissant, blueberry donut, and a guava cream cheese donut with Vietnamese iced cofffee. Service was nice and fast, they had to heat up the ham cheese but the coffee was ready quickly. I docked off one point because I was expecting the best Vietnamese coffee. My bf and I enjoyed it, however I just expected something out of the world lol. It was small but clean inside, seats for waiting. They seem pretty busy with customers in and out. The croissant was good and the donuts are not average donuts. It was a nice place seemed to be run by a mother and daughter.

tried out Knead Donuts & Tea after watching a YouTube video featuring it! as someone who went to undergrad in Lowell, MA, i felt it was my duty to support a Cambodian-owned business (if you didn't know, Lowell, Massachusetts has the highest Cambodian population in the US based on percent proportion!). for drinks, we got the Vietnamese Iced Coffees, one Regular with banana and one Black with half Kneaded (I think? which is basically just a very tiny amount of condensed milk). we also got a guava cream cheese donut. the banana vietnamese iced coffee was delicious and definitely kept me awake for a while! it had a nice amount of banana flavor. I didn't try the other one because I don't like black coffee )-: but the guava cream cheese donut was fire! it had so much flavor and you got enough of the cream cheese in each bite. the two people who were working there were super kind and polite. I definitely would come back here to try their other drinks and donuts and keep supporting the place overall.

Knead is a "gourmet donut" shop located on 7th street and Redondo in Long Beach and they have been expanding in the area with a location in Cerritos and an upcoming location by Costco on Willow. I visited at 7am (before work) and they didn't have their creme brulee donut at this time. I typically see it in the afternoon and I'd recommend it. The contrast between the custard and the freshly bruleed sugar shell is nice. If you see it, then I think you should try it and eat it within the hour. If you hold it too long, then the sugar shell melts away. Today, I got their Cinnamon Roll donut, their Blueberry Cake donut, and a Thai Tea. Their Thai Tea ($6) was very good as it was strong and nicely balanced with half and half. Many places don't have the perfect balance that Knead has with their Thai Tea and I appreciate it. Their Blueberry Cake Donut ($4) was filling, it had blueberries in the cake, blended into the frosting, and there were whole blueberries on top, which were a nice touch. Their Cinnamon Roll ($4) was basically a cinnamon glazed donut. The reason I come once a year or once every other year is because their donuts range from $4 to $7. I sometimes get texts from FiveStars which makes "special" offers on a dozen donuts for $50, which just reinforces my distaste for the cost. While I like the donuts and appreciate the different flavors that they bring to the table, I know that I can get a dozen amazing donuts down the street for $17. I also cannot say that I'd prefer spending $7 for a doughnut rather than a more premium pastry with fresh fruit and laminated dough. I'd consider coming to Knead more regularly if they did one of three things: (1) if they offered some premium doughnuts that were freshly prepared and "still warm" at specific times of day. (2) if their standard/classic doughnuts (chocolate, glazed, cinnamon roll, old fashioned, bear claw) had pricing that was closer to other places as it would allow me to perceive better value, and I'd buy more volume of standard AND premium donuts. (3) If they rotated innovative flavors that I couldn't find elsewhere. Nevertheless, as I stated above - I do think that there are exceptional things here and I do visit intermittently. I think that you should as well so that you can make up your own mind on it!

Ask the Community - Knead Donuts & Tea

Stopped in, and ordered a pig in blanket and 2 ham and cheese croissants. They gave us 2 sausage croissants instead and the pig in blanket was cold. Do we need to ask for it to be reheated when we order?

They have pretty good customer service so I'd ask and I'm sure they'll reheat it for you

I see they're on Postmates. I'm sure they're on other services as well. Just give them a ring and they can help you out. Very nice staff (and owner) each time I've been in.

Actual coffee and donuts are 3/5, though. Not bad but not great either. (The flavors are very, very mild.) Definitely overpriced for what you get (or maybe the mom and pop places are underpriced? And we need more whimsy in this world. Maybe that's all that matters. It's also kinda crazy because everything else in the store is thoughtfully designed and placed but their menus are little laminated sheets resting flat on top of the donut display. Please fix that.

I told him it was my first time, and my preferences (not big on frosting, but like interesting flavor combos) and he walked me through the different types. I was happily surprised to see that they carried some traditional donuts as well as the frosted themed ones! I found that this shop was related to Simones donuts which is a great business! They even do cookie tins and caramels. A couple of the special edition donuts looked so decadent and flavorful but more like a dessert that I commented. He then brought out for me one that was a brand new item and it sounded perfect- a sugar donut topped with strawberry mascarpone encircling a pandan center and I had to get it. He even let me have my themed matcha donut without the fancy little emblem for $1 less! So nice. Those, with a biscoff donut and a logo pin completed my purchase. The pandan topping was sweet but the mascarpone was reminiscent of a strawberry yogurt and the flavors blended perfectly. The other donuts were huge, fluffy and perfectly textured. I would have liked a stronger biscoff and matcha strawberry flavor in those crumbles but at least they were not sweet! Just delicious. The prices are fairly high but I will definitely stop by occasionally to see what delicious creations they are whipping up and get myself a treat!

Stopped coming because I felt like I was just paying $20 per visit for something sweet that didn't have depth in flavors. Also, after reading the clap backs from the owner on IG/Yelp reviews towards other patrons, it has turned me off and made me more hesitant to support her business. The guy though (sorry I don't know his name) is always at the counter and super nice!

It came out hot, fresh, and literally melted in my mouth. Honestly, if she told me it was going to take 30 minutes, I still would've waited.

tl;dr quality is high and prices are low; go early for the best possible selection, and don't miss…read moreout on the excellent apple fritter Across Los Angeles' ever-changing donut landscape, the countless standalone shops have had to evolve to stand out from the crowd. At Long Beach's Sweet Retreat Donuts, that meant limited-edition experimental donut varieties (mostly with tropical flavor profiles), as well as a reliable vegan donut lineup. Clearly, Sweet Retreat has been doing something right, as it's been a Pacific Coast Highway favorite for a decade. Over the years, it has garnered recognition from plenty of local news outlets, from Eater LA to LAist. The cramped strip mall is more eye-catching for its reptile supply store rather than its donut shop. Inside the shop, the expansive, donut-themed cartoon mural to the right immediately makes a statement. Houseplants are plentiful across the otherwise undecorated, whitewashed walls. Donuts are organized on trays by price, with the charge doodled directly onto the glass with a white marker. Ambient noise from the television is drowned out by chattering customers and the buzzing coffee machine. During the summer months, the AC-less shop feels tropically balmy. My partner and I arrived at Sweet Retreat late one Sunday morning, and the shop still boasted a steady stream of customers. By the time of our visit, the remaining selection was regrettably slim -- beyond the standard fare, the most unique donuts sported either candy coating or tropical frosting. We opted for a hibiscus-frosted raised donut and an apple fritter. The former had an excellent donut base, and the hibiscus frosting was floral and tropical (albiet I would have enjoyed a more punchy flavor). Meanwhile, the apple fritter fell on the cinnamon-y side, heavily doused in glaze so that each bite (even the edges) melted in your mouth; Sweet Retreat's rendition was one of my favorites in Greater LA. Our Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and sugary, but nothing more memorable than peer coffeeshops. The service was efficient, and our two donuts cost a reasonable $5 (even frill-free mom-and-pop shops charge in this range nowadays). The selection was sorely lacking, but Sweet Retreat more than made up for that with its high quality and reasonable prices. This bakery may not warrant a dedicated trip out of the way, but it is sure to deliver a satisfying treat if you're already in the neighborhood.

I left this place running for my car…read more The location is in a rough area of town, so while the donuts were edible, I felt compelled to issue a quick heads up warning for any unsuspecting newcomers. As I entered the parking lot I witnessed a lady hanging out of the window of a car missing a rear bumper, cursing at a minivan that looked like it had recently been involved in a series of hit-and-run crimes. I'm unclear what occurred before I got there, but kept my head down and quickly parked and scurried inside. The entrance had cardboard on the ground laid out like some sort of Oscar the Grouch red carpet. There were two people sitting at the middle two tables with portable shopping carts filled with assorted belongings. The interior matched the rest of neighborhood with random stuff laid out on counter tops, and a general dirty feeling that made me consider whether I wanted to buy food here, but I was already inside. There was a single woman working the counter. She was polite and matter of fact. I had promised my kids donuts, so I ordered my box to go. While she used appropriate tongs to put them in the box, she didn't bother to fully close or seal the box. Just looking to get out of there as quickly as possible, I headed immediately back to my car but was followed by an unknown man shouting at me asking if I could spare a dollar. I quickly fidgeted for my keys and pulled the door closed and locked it behind me. This was at 9am. I cannot imagine this place late at night. The donuts were basic and not overly sweet, more of a fried bread. My kids ate a few bites of each but it wasn't worth the stress of getting them.

I love cinnamon rolls , but didn't want just a regular donut I could get anywhere. I got there about 7:50a. I was immediately greeted when i walked in, the place is bright and inviting. Lots of choices and pretty donuts. I couldn't decide. I ended up selecting a cinnamon roll . I wanted a hot coffee but they only a "drip" hot coffee and no hot specialty coffees. I selected the Zombie. I liked the description that it's 50% sweet and it's a popular drink. Marcus was helpful and cheery told me i could sip throughout the day, it's only 10:15a and it's halfway gone . They suggested I could get a box of 4 donuts for an estimated $20. I was firm and bought 1. I couldn't take the chance of eating them all. I will be back to try other donuts.

So, with that being said, let's get into the review. I have attempted to stop by several times, and each time I was in the area, they were closed or not yet open. This location has been open for 5 to 6 months, the cashier mentioned when asked. You know there is a saying, "we eat with our eyes." I can definitely say I did just that, not knowing what to try first. As a unit, we love bananas, bacon, and strawberries. So with that, I solely ordered their maple and bacon, banana cream, strawberry shortcake, and a cinnamon roll. Once we got home, we sat down and tried all 4 donuts, taking a bite of each one. The banana and cream was a 10. I devoured the whole donut, not leaving anything for anyone else.tfhe maple bacon did quite do it for me nor did the strawberry shortcake. The cinnamon roll was for the hubby. Each donut brought it's own kinda flavor to the table. I intentionally went in to buy 2 donuts but left with 4 paying at $22.00 total Knead is a small location with one table inside no bathrooms available. Plenty parking that's for sure. Will I be back yes but I will not be a regular. I see sweets I gain weight. That's with most things.
