Drawbacks: They give you your coffee in styrofoam cups and you take it to your table. Some tables next to the window are hot from the sun streaming in. Food is hit-or-miss. My blueberry waffles were so pale and soggy. If I wanted soggy waffles I could have used my waffle maker at home. My companion's "over medium" eggs were extra runny. Hm. Koa Pancake House. After multiple bad experiences at another location, I never thought to give KPH another go. But I've been here multiple times and this place has never given me a reason not to come. - Parking is small and has its own little lot. Don't quote me on this, but I think it's metered parking.. The stall we went to which yes was in its lot right in front the store, has a meter... It had 29 minutes in it so i didn't mind (lucky hehe). If y'all don't know KPH is a local brunch diner type of place. Lots of basic breakfast foods, all which is great. Service is constantly amazing. No long wait times and food is fresh. My fav breakfast place, great service but im starting to wonder whats going on in the kitchen. The koas in Kaimuki is for sure my fav, the customer service at the register is amazing. i like kaimuki koa better than ewa or hawaii kai. This morning unfortunately, i got the "small bites" fried rice with egg w/ Portuguese sausage. There was an egg shell in my scrambled egg :( devastating. I completely understand what its like to be "over worked" so i just pray that my fav koa pancake that i will continue to go to, pays more attention to my food next time. We use to eat at Koa Pancake house almost every weekend. I am as so happy they started on line ordering. It's been a HUGE disappointment. Food is still awesomely me but getting it is a major aggravation. I keep trying to see if it improves but it doesn't. I order it the night before because my husband goes golfing and he likes a good breakfast. 40 min after the time we were suppose to get out order was when we rev over it. Tried again a few weeks later and 20 minutes after the time it was suppose to be ready. I finally tried again today and still 15 minutes later. It looks like they serve the customers that walk in first rather then be on time with their pre orders. With pre order they got your $ up front, I never had a place that didn't meet the time of my order and I order out a lot! If on a rare occasion someone is late they usually compensate with something free and an apology. We don't have this issue with the aiea koa pancake house only Kaimuki. It's sad we love the food but don't want to be disrespected by consistently getting out food late. read more

No veggies come in the burrito. Loosely wrapped and they never cook them after anymore. Also I always write on the note. The style of the restaurant is that you order at the cashier in the front, they give you a number and you sit at your table with your number posted so that they can serve your meal. There are a lot of seats available, however depending on the time and day, it could get very crowded. Ambience is very casual and all the staff are so helpful and nice. Parking: they have a private parking lot in front of the restaurant which is enough for about 7 cars? Parking is very limited so usually park at Windward Mall near Ross's and walk over, use the crosswalk, as this road (Kahuhipa) is dangerous with the curves and amount of traffic. Sunday breakfast can sometimes be a long wait so go early on that day especially. I enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered but my favorite item was the vinha D'alhos-the pork was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked slightly crispy; I really didn't expect that and it was my first time trying it. The Kalbi ribs were also very well season and very tasty. The Koa Moco was a hamburger patty with corned beef hash, it was a great combo with the gravy, egg and rice. For something on the sweeter side the strawberry cheesecake pancakes are a must. The sauce was so good with the pancakes.
