Soy sauce chicken
Young Y.

This is a order pickup and takeout review. Craved Korean fried chicken and made a stop to pick up some chicken. We ordered the soy sauce chicken which came piping hot and ready for eating. The food itself was just ok. The soy sauce flavoring was not good and tasted somewhat burnt. I think next time I'd definitely try a different sauce. Chicken was also unfortunately dry too. I may have come on an off day but it was just ok chicken. The server was very kind and nice. Parking is street parking at Kirkland downtown which can be hard. However also note that the public library nearby also allows parking especially when the library is closed. Bathroom was clean meaning the kitchen is clean. Overall, it's an okay chicken place that fills your cravings. I may try again later to see if I went on an off day.

Absolutely amazing fried chicken. I haven't had better doubly fried chicken in the Greater Seattle area. I tried the spicy fried chicken and I was blown away. It definitely ended with teary eyes and a running nose. The place is not super big but I still recommend dining in. They also give a complimentary cabbage salad which was pretty good in my opinion. I probably wouldn't recommend their drinks - they are probably too sweet.

We've visited Kokio twice now, at one year apart, first time dine-in, second time take-out. Nothing wrong with the first visit; there are simply lots of places to try. (And clearly, I forgot to write the review.) The biggest difference was the price. Inflation sux. Both times were on a Saturday night. The first time, the place was a mob scene. The second time, the place was a ghost town and our food was surprisingly packed and ready ahead of quoted time. Maybe price does matter. We had courteous service both times, no complaints. The place did a complete remodel vs the previous place. It is new, white, and sparkling. If cleanliness is your thing, they are worthy of your attention. The Food: Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Waffle Fries, $16 - 5 Stars This is hubby's favorite dish. He had it a year ago and wanted it again. The chicken pieces are so large it sticks outside of the bun. The chicken pieces are crispy and wonderfully fresh and seasoned. Was $13 last year. Fried Chicken, Half Order, Bone-in, Hot Spicy Crispy, $18 - 5 Stars This is my favorite dish, which I also ordered last year. Simply fried, impeccably spicy seasoned (the Korean chili spicy flavor), and crispy! I think about this KFC, and I think about the Colonel KFC, and there really is no comparison. Was $16 last year. Garlic Wings Jumbo, 8pc, $19 + $1 sauce - 2 Stars Hubby wanted something extra and opted for wings, plus to try something new. We opted for garlic, but the server on the phone said garlic needs to be "cooked in" instead of dipping. Fine, cook it in then. When we open the box, we found a sauce on the side in the container anyway. The wings didn't have much crunch; the sauce made the wings soggy which is odd cuz we had yangnyeom (sweet spicy) wings from other places many times, and they managed to keep the chicken crispy with the sauce. Costing $20 for 8 wings, yikes. This was a surprise. I have photos of the menu from a year ago, and these were $13 + $1 for sauce. NOT ordering these again. When ordering take-out, they label each container individually with a tag. It's rather nifty and helpful. Note their website still doesn't include Kirkland after 1+ years, so you can't see their menu online.

We were craving fried chicken so decided to try in the neighborhood. There was complimentary parking on the street if you got lucky. Also, an option of parking garage with hourly rate $7.72. We went for late lunch and owner was courteous. The ambiance was laidback and typically fast causal. We shared half order of fried chicken with bone in, side of hot chili sauce and honey crispy rice cake. It came with complimentary salad and it's delicious. Fried chicken skin was crispy and meat was juicy. Rice cake was great too. The service was update and efficient. Great experience and we will be back.

Great pick for a korean fried chicken spot! Lively atmosphere and friendly staff. Loved their variety and they have great lunch specials

Simple starter salad with a mayo/ketchup dressing. Don't sleep on it, it's amazing

First timer. I consider myself to have high expectations when it comes to any type of Korean cuisines given that Iv'e had the opportunity to try it across multiple states but more importantly, direct at the source in South Korea throughout my life. In short, I was impressed. This is the first time I've visited a Korean fried chicken shop and ordered tenders. The audacity right? But, my friends that I went with reassured me that I would not be let down, and that I was not. Fun fact, Lizzy S. was the one who brought me! The sizes of the tenders were huge but, somehow they were all perfectly juicy. You could tell their chicken is fresh and never frozen (this was confirmed by the owners, their chicken and rice cakes are both delivered fresh on a weekly basis, never frozen) I asked them what was their version of "yangyum chicken) which is your classic sauced Korean fried chicken and they said they're sweet and spicy, so that is what I ordered, and it was divine. I also ordered their honey rice cakes, and they were so perfectly lightly fried on the outside, chewy on the inside, and the sauce was chef's kiss. They have a beer stocked with all the soju, flavored rice wine, beer, and sodas you could need to pair with your meal. Great food, cute spot, great staff, food is clearly made with love, you can taste it in every bite. I will be making a point to give this place a visit every time I'm in town.

Grilled pork teriyaki was amazing. Charred to perfection and the sauce was so good. even the side salad was great. But the chicken is a little lacking. Not enough flavor and sauce on it. Service could be a little better I think. Our first time and was trying to ask questions on the chicken half and half option but she wasn't helpful.

Half order of fried chicken with garlic sauce. Comes with a side of Coleslaw! Generous portions!

First time eating here and it's so good! We ordered half a chicken. It comes with a very good portion of coleslaw. You get to pick what side sauce you want or sauce can be slathered on the chicken for you. (I prefer sauce on the side.) I chose the garlic sauce and sweet and spicy sauce. The sweet and spicy was a 1 star spice.... So it wasn't spicy at all. The chicken is nicely battered and fried. So fresh! Piping hot when it comes to you. Very tasty! Best of all, it's reasonably priced! 2 people can share the half chicken order. Will definitely come here again!

Stopped by for some wings. If you love wings this is a great place. They are big and juicy. Personally I wish they had more sauce choices. Give me a try.

Chicken tenders with waffle fries

This was our first time visiting Kokio, and it certainly won't be the last! When we entered the friendly staff were instantly welcoming and attentive. It's a cute spot with about 10 tables and some bar seating. They have a couple of tvs as well. It's a great location right on the main strip of restaurants in downtown Kirkland. We ordered some crispy wings and tenders - Both spicy. They give you a delicious and refreshing cabbage salad to eat with your chicken or as an appetizer. It just has a simple ginger dressing, but it's perfect. The chicken comes out hot and crispy! They even provide wipes to keep the oil on your face and hands to a minimum. The tender sauce was a great compliment for the chicken, and they include a yummy garlic aioli with the crunchy waffle fries. The waffle fries cost a little extra but are so worth it! Can't wait to pop over here and try some of their other dishes soon!

Original 3 pc drum sticks are enooooormous! Be prepared to be full! The skin batter is very unique, crispy, and has a sweetness to it, and the chicken is still juicy underneath! Enjoy this fried chicken with trendy kpop blasting in the background! They have a bar so if you want alcohol with your wings, this is the way! The flavored wings hit the spot too. The sauces are evenly mixed and the spice levels are perfect. For the wings alone, I would return and I am aching to leave a 5 star review, but the service person (Zahin? Zahim?) was drinking the entire time and was likely drunk because we had a miscommunication several times. I don't know why I got babysat using the screen, because I know how a touch screen select works...I just wanted to select a Cajun flavor and I had to repeat myself twice while he insisted on selecting it for me through the whole process, and my friend had to repeat it as well, and the server wanted to help, which was...anti-helping to be honest. I understand it might be a policy they have to maybe walk customers through the touch screen? but it was very unnecessary. If it's for tips, it's annoying over-service and patronizing. It's a touch screen. I'll ask if I have a question. Prep time for the food to land was ((( 25 minutes ))) with low crowds inside (people already had their food) and outside (only one other person ordering to-go) and I only ordered 2 things--their fried chicken, no rice dish, so I would call ahead or prepare to wait at least 30 minutes even if there's a medium rush. Overall: lovely chicken, terrible / drunk?? wait service, terrible wait time, and they're new so I'll always come back to see if they've improved, because I really hope they do! It's a delicious flavor!

You can clearly see chicken feathers on the top! So disgusting!
Yangjun L.

I don't know if they change to a different owner or chef, but the food quality has definitely gone downhill, and I won't be returning. I recently ordered fried chicken wings from Kokio Chicken, and I was extremely disappointed with the food. The chicken wings were overcooked, dry, and not juicy at all. To make matters worse, they tasted sour, which made me question whether the chicken was fresh or stored properly, especially on a hot day. On top of that, it was clear they didn't clean the chicken wings properly before frying, as I could still see feathers on the surface of the wings. So disgusting! Very disappointing experience.

Such nice cozy atmosphere. Pretty clean place. Nice servers. Food is delicious! The only thing that I would really appreciate at the time of stay is baby changing area in women's restroom... I needed to change my baby on the bench in the bathroom...

These folks probably need another great review like Elon Musk needs an increase in his allowance,…read morebut fairness demands that I not keep silent regarding my enjoyment of this restaurant: THE ROSES: Ample dedicated parking. The staff is gracious, prompt, professional, and - I hope no one objects when I say this - rather attractive. Generous portions and reasonable prices for what you're getting. The food is nothing sort of legendary - bold flavors and dishes have the perfect balance of sweet, heat, savory, and umami. THE THORNS: None significant enough to mention. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: It is important to note that this place is insanely popular with the area's Korean community. The restaurant is quite busy Thursday thru Sunday, and significant waits for a table are likely. Monday thru Wednesday is your best time for going and getting a table without a wait. The price of some dishes, like their signature offering, Kalbijjim, might give you a pause ($80+). It is important to keep in mind this is made to order, and one serving can easily serve four regular appetites. If you're just a couple, you're definitely going to be taking this home with you. This is not a bad thing, as Kalbijjim is one of those dishes that is even better the next day and doesn't suffer from reheating. THE VERDICT: Daeho Kalbijjim is extremely popular, and it's not hard to see why. The execute authentic Korean cuisine pretty much flawlessly with efficient and charming service. What else to you want in a restaurant? Highly recommend. Just try not to go on the busy days.

The first time I visited, the quality of the meat cuts didn't impress me, and the soups lacked depth of flavor. I'm not talking about needing more salt--the broth itself just tasted flat. When you're paying close to $30 for a bowl of soup, I think it's reasonable to expect a higher level of quality and care to ingredients. The second visit was a mixed experience. To be fair, I was in the wrong. There is a clearly posted policy stating that your entire party must be present before being seated. My group was about seven minutes away, and since I had already checked in on Yelp and there were only two parties ahead of me with no one physically waiting, I asked if I could be seated and order while I waited. I had already been standing inside for about 10 minutes. I was told that although tables were available, seating me ahead of the other parties on the waitlist would be unfair. I understood the reasoning, but she had also asked prior for my order. Her explanation left me confused so i sheepishly said I understood the policy. She already seemed upset by the time i had gotten there. Sometimes we have off days i get that. This place is clearly hit or miss, I've got friends who absolutely swear by it. For me, though, it wasn't anything special and didn't justify the price. If you're looking for Korean food in the area, I've had better experiences with higher-quality dishes elsewhere, especially in Lynnwood.

Bon is located in the same plaza as H-Mart and so they have a shared parking lot or you could walk over from Redmond Town Center which is just a block away. The inside is surprisingly large with at least twenty tables, which is bigger than most Korean restaurants that I've seen on the Eastside. At 11:45am on a Saturday, my group of three had no problem getting a table. Their menu is extensive and has all the Korean food classics including seafood pancake, soondubu (stone pot tofu soup), galbi jjim (beef stew), Toppokki, bibimbap, and cold noodles (spicy and non-spicy versions). Their entrees are around $20 each, but some larger hot pot dishes (meant for 2-3 people) can be up to $70. I ordered the BULGOGI BIBIMBAP (~$24). Unfortunately they don't serve stone pot Bibimbap here, but the portions are large and beautifully presented. My dish came with plenty of fresh vegetables- pickled carrots and cucumbers, sesame bean sprouts, daikon kimchi, lettuce, and marinated black mushrooms (which I've never had in Bibimbap before but was soooo good) on top a bed of fluffy white rice! The egg was cooked perfectly over easy and the meat was marinated well too- I do wish the dish came with more meat though. They give you your typical sweet and spicy gochujang red sauce on the side as well as white vinegar and mustard sauce for added flavor. Service was fantastic and you get complimentary hot tea and ban chan (which are refillable). The ban chan included cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cake, and sesame choy. All employees were very friendly and made you feel at home. The inside is clean, but the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that they have an Okay health rating and not a Good or Excellent health rating. I didn't look up the exact violations, but it would be great to see an improvement in score. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere

The fried rice however (without the jjajang sauce) was pretty bland and a bit dry. I don't know if it's intentional because they give the sauce on the side but I'd like to have the rice taste good without the assistance of the sauce. Other than the bland and dry rice, my only other nitpick would be that the jjajangmyeon came out a lot later than the other dishes.
