I did not realize Kung Fu Tea franchise has a very large prominent presence in the boba scene. It is the largest American bubble tea company as per Kung Fu Tea's website. I always enjoyed their fruit teas. I would return to patronize again, again, again and again but in different locations throughout NYC. Peach Oolong tea, medium $5.25 I inquired if this tea was available which to my astonishment it surely is. Kung Fu Tea surely have my default topping herbal jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 which, of course, I included in my order for $0.75. The tea alone was enjoyable containing antioxidants which may help reduce inflammation and lower cholesterol levels, including reducing the risk of heart disease. The amount of herbal jelly was very abundant - which is exceeding unusual. There is no frugality for herbal jelly topping here. My strong proclivity for herbal jelly was fulfilled and advantageously satisfied. I requested "less sugar" which the peach syrup embedded makes this drink extremely sweet. I am glad that the customer can control the sugar level to one's liking. This drink contains fresh pieces of cut peach fruit. I highly despise extremely sweet drinks for the high sugar content intake volume. As usual I requested a lot of ice which the ice, again as usual, melted during my long-haul subway ride home but my drink remained chilled. I had to request for a sales receipt as the cashier/server did not automatically distributed to me. The drink label was somewhat easy to remove. The menu said one price for the tea with milk cap and then I was charged the price for a regular honey black tea plus the up charge for the milk cap. Came here to try the new kirby's fruity flurry drink and was terribly disappointed. I had high expectations for this drink but sadly thought it tasted like cough medicine and was super sweet even with 30% sugar. The presentation was cute and all but after taking a few sips I had to throw it away since it tasted so bad which felt like such a waste being that the drink itself was almost $7. My boyfriend got the kiwi punch drink and also opted for 30% sugar and found that his drink was also too sweet. We ordered on the app for pickup and my drink was not ready at the promised pickup time. The cashier told me to wait a bit but even when my drink was ready, she did not hand me my drink though I was right there - I had to ask her for my drink. When I went, I noticed that they were also charging an extra fee (I think it was 50 cents) for card payments in store which I thought was interesting... I would say that Kung Fu Tea is one of my favorite chain boba places where they are always pretty consistent. Unfortunately, this visit or this location was just meh. I ordered my drink with as little sugar as possible, and it came out tasting very syrupy and sweet. When I went back to see if they could fix it, they ripped off the lid, dumped about half of it out, filled it with unsweetened tea and then resealed it. This is a super cute little Kung Fu tea location with really friendly service, perfectly located in the heart (or rather on the edge of the heart) of Manhattan's Chinatown about two blocks from where little Sammi Puff (the baby cat I found in Queens) hung out for an hour or two while I tried all the different Chinatown stuff before driving her to Stroudsburg and then Buffalo and then all the way down to Houston Texas which is her new home which she loves very much. Did I just digress? But yeah. So for that reason this location has special memories for me, but definitely a great location and super friendly as well and I'll definitely be stopping here on a regular basis. It is tiny and claustrophobic and often busy but that's okay. They have a couple of counters where you can sit, but that's about it. Some posters on the wall (read, all the posters on all the walls from special offers going back years), and like I said - really friendly girls working here. Generally speaking, Kung Fu Tea scores 5, which is a huge compliment, considering that it's a massive international corporate chain, whose milk teas don't match up to the best chains: Sharetea, Gong Cha, Tea Top, and Coco. However, they're still really good, and the fruit teas here are among the best. Especially the lemon black tea which absolutely rocks my world. Total addict. If it's not on the menu, demand it! Other fruit teas (Berry, Orange, Grapefruit) must also be ordered off-menu as Black Tea instead of the meh Green, and some locations won't do it unless you bat your lashes and such. Also the Lemon Black tastes good as a Lemon Oolong, but everyone else hates it that way - because they have bad taste. The one annoying thing about the chain is the corporate office (they're sketchy, and not in an artistic way) and their rule that no drink can have its tea altered (which I often convince employees to circumvent) (because it gives me an excuse to use the word circumvent). Update: Their customer service has declined tremendously. They charged me about $6 for a drink that was 95% all milk. They did not care about my concern or tried to do anything to rectify it. Let me not bore you with my on-going Brown Sugar Boba Milk journey... I definitely wanted to try as much of KFT branches as possible. After a gluttony dinner at Grand Seoul, we walked over and grabbed a large Cocoa Cream Wow... this branch doesn't really deliver the goods. Kung Fu Tea is such a classic place to get boba. Went with a friend after dinner since we were craving for boba. The tea was good, but there's nothing too spectacular about this space because its what you'd expect for a boba shop. AMBIANCE: Kung Fu tea is a tiny shop! There's a small space in front of the cashier to stand and wait for your order, and theres a small "bar" seating area that can fit three or four chairs. Definitely more of a to go place. PROS: There are so many options you can choose from! At least 30+ drinks that these guys can make so it definitely can satisfy most if not all cravings people have for boba on any given day or night. I opted for the coconut milk tea medium sized with boba and that came around ~$4.60 ish. There are quite a few toppings you can add to your drink besides tapioca balls, and also you can customize your drink to your personal preferences based on the level of sugar and ice in it. I got my drink at 30% sugar and it was the perfect level of sweetness. 50% is usually very sweet. You can watch your drinks get made on the spot at the machine. You can also taste the coconut flavor in it and the consistency was very smooth and not too creamy/milky. A definite plus for me. My friend got the Lychee punch and enjoyed it alot. Since he is a die hard lychee fan anything that has lychee in it will score points for him. Definitely lots of different lychee options at Kung Fu ranging from punches to slushies. CONS: Only complaints is that this shop doesn't accept credit cards. Other Kung Fu tea shops do especially as you move north of Chinatown in Manhattan. OVERALL: Great spot to grab a quick boba or milk tea drink. Lots of options and customization here to personalize your own drink. Great fruity drinks! Taste exactly the same as I've gotten at other KFT locations, and sugar levels are what you ask for. We got the grapefruit green tea 70% sugar with tapioca, and peach oolong tea 70% sugar (which has peach bits in it). They have a lot of seasonal drinks and milks teas / slush so there's something for everyone! Honey green tea, milk green tea, hot honey lemon tea, wintermelon tea are all YUM. ALLERGIES PLEASE BEWARE! There's DAIRY in the "non dairy" powder! Two staff told me it was non dairy twice. I asked to see the ingredients because I have a deadly allergy. The ingredients list says "whey protein" which is from cow's milk and can kill people with milk protein allergies. Please see photos of the ingredients list staff let me take. I almost got a tea with this powder in jt, because two different staff suggested it for someone that can't have dairy. If you have an allergy, I advise you to please be exceptionally careful at places that advertise drinks with "non-dairy creamer." I could've ended up in the ER. I usually come here to get drinks before heading the the D train. Today, we passed by here while heading to the Manhattan bridge and it was open. They only take mobile order, therefore download the app before hand. This makes sense. No one wants to be touching anything unnecessary. KFT Drinks are pretty sweet but I'm a fan of sweet. Got Kung Fu Tea for #Popthelid challenge. I think the large size is more worth than the medium size. I got the milk cap honey green tea with no bubbles and I really enjoyed my drink! They have good variety of fruit teas, WOW milk, which I think is just lactose free milk (NO TEA), and all the usual toppings. We ordered 2 large Kung Fu MT ($3.75) with grass jelly and 30% sweet. It cost $9.25x 30% sweet was just sweet enough. The MT has a stronger creamier / milky taste than tea taste. Grass jelly was soft, fresh, and smooth. I've also had the green MT here as well and it's pretty good.
