My brother and I came to this restaurant not expecting much, but it was quite the opposite. We were welcomed by the owners Tom and Kathy who had only opened this restaurant 14 months ago. They whole heartedly believe in customer service and as a manager of a restaurant myself, it is something I truly admire. On top of their excellent service, their food is just as amazing. We ordered their Spring Rolls that they hand make by order and two Pho Dac Biet. As a seasoned fatass, I could tell the amount of time and care that they put into their food just by the first bite. The broth had the perfect ratio of cinnamon, fennel, onion, ginger, salt, and meaty goodness. Thank you Tom and Kathy for your amazing service and even better food! Nobody was in the restaurant when we arrived. The owner was laying on the booth side of the table sleeping. When we walked in, she popped right up, but eventually fell back asleep sitting up. The owner was mean to her employee. We could hear the way she was talking/yelling at her employee. The owner was yelling at her to open the door for customers that were arriving, yelling at her telling her how much of a mess she was making... I felt really bad for the girl. When other customers would arrive, the owner was being "fake" nice - and then would turn around and be mean to her employee again. I did not appreciate the way she was treating her employee. First time dining here. The place was a bit small and full to capacity of customers . The set up to me was it looked like a sushi bar. The menu was a bit lack luster. They didn't carry any bo kho. I was kinda bummed out. The pho broth was mid. What really lowered the scoring was not the taste of the pho. It was more like the environment. The restaurant had only one server. He tried to memorize our order (5 of us) after he took the order he came back with a tablet and he had to ask what we were ordering again. The food didn't take a super long time but long enough to wonder if he input the order. The things that irritated me was even after repeating my order 2 times it still came incorrect. They also ran out of pho so I couldn't change the pho since it was wrong. But the most irritating thing was the server and it looked like the owner, Some lady. They kept yelling back and forth from the back of the restaurant to the front where we were sitting. Arguing about the orders being slow and that they ran out of pho. read more

This place hands down is one of the best Pho spots in San Jose. The pho broth is DELICIOUS!! Wontons are made in house and amazing. The beef rib combination soups is great. All the appetizers hit the spot. This restaurant is tucked away in a new shopping strip that still has a bunch of unoccupied stores so most people do not know it is there. They have about 10 tables and a full bar. They have 6 TV's so you can watch the games while eating delicious food. My favorite dishes are the wonton soup and the fried rice. read more

I really like this pho place. We've gone back at least 3x now and it's been consistently great. It's a new place so its super clean, there's plenty of parking, brand new decor/bathrooms, and they're open until 10pm which is awesome for us late dinner people. Its a cute and cozy place. Now for the food! We've had the wings, beef pho with rib, quail, and fried wonton with the house dipping sauce and its all really delicious. I always end up wanting to finish all of the pho broth and the owner comes out to greet you. That's so rare now. I especially love the vibe which is mellow and you're not rushed. Wow what a find ! We were driving back from Carmel to the Peninsula and craving noodles after a long day of continental food. Many late night Pho places were full but found this off the beaten path. Great service. However, pho broth is very bland. When asked for fresh noodles, they added big thick flat noodles that you would use for chow fun. They were gladly to switch back to the regular thin noodles though. Honestly, I think instant ramen or instant pho is better. read more

Wow. This place has been opening only 9 months and it's my new favorite. I've been here twice and always ordered the combination rice noodle (dry) because it's so good! Of course I still have a lot more to try! Inside is very clean with nice settings. They have big TVs and bar where people can sit to eat, drink and watch the games for entertainment. I ordered the combination dried rice noodles & it was so flavorful. They gave generous portions of large prawns, slices of bbq pork and fish balls. The rice noodles were fresh and tender, almost springy. The seasoning of fried garlic and a little broth made the whole dish so flavorful and gave it a crunch... highly recommended! The owners were so sweet. Even when I came 15 before closing time, she genuinely asked how I like my meal and for me to enjoy it and I didn't have to rush. Had the house special combo noodles with the soup on the side along with some fried wontons. It's all pretty good stuff and the quality of everything was pretty high. I usually don't get fried wontons but my friend said they were particularly good and he was right. We were there for lunch but he said this is actually a great place to catch a game and I believe it. I don't have any photos because I couldn't contain myself. First of all the service was wonderful, super friendly and very accommodating. Initially came here for pho ap chao, but they don't have it on their menu! Although the owner did recommend other similar dishes, he also offered to make it special to order just for me! Pho ap chao is like a fried noodle with a thick sauce that slowly makes the noodles soft again, they have a version of this but yellow noodles. Offering to make it for me even though it's not on their menu really blew me away. The owner said, if they can make it, they'll do it! Now the dish itself. It literally was exactly what I was craving, what I envisioned in my head. I'm so satisfied, it was delicious. The contrasting textures of fried crunch and soft chewy noodles was perfect. The sauce, salty and full of umami flavor. Also plus for you if you decide to check it out, no msg! (Personally I like msg but the food was still amazing). I am definitely coming back. New regular spot. I'm not even mad that I didn't finish it, because I have more of it for later . I came here as it is one of the few pho restaurants open late. Chicken wings were freshly fried and covered with a salty-sweet sauce. Large Pho was tasty and sizeable, with a decent portion of meat. The person I was with got fried rice with mixed toppings which they enjoyed. Service was quick. However, every item was charged $2-3 above the listed price on the menu. I was also charged $3 for using a credit card, despite no warning of this charge beforehand and no explanation until I called the waiter over. My meal was satisfactory, however, paying for it made me feel like I was getting fleeced. If the store were upfront about increased prices and credit card charges I would have left satisfied with my meal. Instead, I feel nothing but contempt for their poor business practices. read more

This is a hidden gem. Out of all the Viet restaurants I've been to, this place has the best version of Combination Yellow Noodle (Mi kho thập Cẩm). Other yummy dishes I've tried are the Pork Chop with rice (special sauce that's pretty unique) and Vermicelli Crab Noodle Soul (Bun Rieu). And owner said no MSG which is a big plus!! read more

Got take out for the soft opening! It was pretty good even at home. Super happy that the calamari was still real crispy and chew considering we ate it 30 mins. after picking it up! Response Update** Hi Kathy! Thanks for reaching out. We came last weekend on Sat/Sun sitting in the front of the entry area with the booth near the fire extinguishers. We'll come back whenever and no refund is necessary since everyone was nice. This was just our experience here. Was recommended to come here by 1 person out of the group. There were of eight of us so maybe they aren't familiar with serving larger groups? First off, waiters were nice and shy? It was quite interesting with the waiters helping us. After ordering, we waited about 15"+ until the 1st bowl came out. It was like 30" minutes total when all the food came out... this usually doesn't happen since we came together and want to eat around the same time. After the last bowl came, the first few had cooled. Usually the food would all come out within 5-10" for the whole party. Not only was the food really staggered when it came out, the waiters that dropped off the food didn't even know what he was bringing out. We literally had to inspect (stick the chopstick inside) to see which bowl belongs to who... shouldn't there be a number/note system or the order the food was taken? Or something easier to help figure out which bowls belonged to whom? Everyone was still in a great mood and just laughed at what happened and all agree that the food wasn't all that great. It was plain and the portions are smaller compared to other places. Honestly the price though... to charge this price in a competitive area, we expect better service and for the waiters to know what they're doing or get some delicious food but yeahhh... We loved to support new places, but there wasn't any wow factors here. Nice people and none were rude, although it does fall short in all three categories: SERVICE (unclear with the orders, asked for refills on water, staggered times & slow) FOOD (pho was not the best. I usually take photos but ehhh) PRICE (pricy, we can totally understand this price when everything else becomes+++) Would we be back? 7/8 of us all agreed that it would literally have to be pretty random to just pop back in here. Travelled to San Jose from Sun Diego. Needed a Vietnamese fix. Very nice and clean spot. Lots of TVs. Food came quick and service was good. Price point a little high but pork chop and rice combo were big portions. Tasty shrimp rolls. The Pho large combo was good. Meaty but a lil lacking on the salt. Had the rare steak on the side with limes- on point. Overall experience was 7 out of ten. Cafe su da was strong as it should be. I would recommend this place. read more

Can't believe it took us this long to find this small hidden gem in San Jose. Among all the other pho spots we've tried, this place trumps it all in terms of food, atmosphere and service. One of the owner (and our server), Tom, was amazing and so attentive. He's also hilarious and such a pleasant person to talk to. Kudos to the chef (and owner), Kathy, for the delicious food. We ordered the combination rice noodle soup and shaking filet mignon with red rice and both were sooooo good. Portion sizes were pretty big as well, not to mention pricing was super fair too. During one of our conversation with Tom, I believe he mentioned most of their ingredients and food are made fresh in house which is hard to find these days. Exceptional, high quality food! I've tried: -Fried calamari: nicely crisped (not over-breaded), seasoned to perfection (salt & pepper), not too oily, comes w/ tasty dipping sauce. Pretty much the best calamari I've tried. -Pho tai: tasty broth, fresh noodles & meat, comes w/ plenty of herbs & veggies. Overall, very good. I didn't expect a place like this--one that makes so many different dishes--to have good pho, but I was wrong. It's definitely comparable to the best pho shops in ESSJ. -Dry glass noodles w/ seafood or combination (hu tieu da): fresh noodles, plenty of seafood/meat (shrimp is big and nicely grilled), amazing sauce, flavorful broth (on the side). This is one of my favorite dishes. This place has a huge selection of authentic Vietnamese dishes and so far, everything I've tried has been very good. It also has a good selection of booze and is a good place to "nhau" (i.e. eat, drink, & party). The space is bright, clean, and spacious. The service is friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure why this place has such high ratings. Quality of the clear soup noodle ingredients was good but portions were small and soup was salty. For $17 a bowl, and I'm not a big eater, I had to fill up drinking the broth and water they served. The calamari had good seasoning but rings were so thinly cut they ended up being chewy. The dish should be renamed bell pepper, onion and calamari since there were equal portions of all three. Definitely not worth $16. The owner lady was rude too. I'm not vietnamese and was trying to understand what type of noodle was on the menu. It could be a language barrier but she seemed confident in her language skills and was condescending in explaining the type of noodle. The only thing worth getting were the chicken wings. Nicely brined and perfectly fried. One star for the chicken wings, one star for the nice waiter, one star for the quality of ingredients. read more
