I heard about this place from one of those Instagram foodie reels and decided to give it a shot. This place is located in a tiny place so parking is limited. There is an ample amount of seating inside and we got seated immediately on a Saturday lunch. The interior of the restaurant had a chill vibe and the staff was really nice to us! I go the shaken filet mignon with red rice (J1) and a fried egg on top. This dish was a solid 7.5/10. I really like the beef as it had a strong pepper flavor and chewy texture. Even thought it was cooked very well, it wasn't dry at all. The veggies (onions and bell peppers) were also stir fried well and didn't have their raw overpowering taste. The egg was cooked sunny side up and went really well with the beef. The rice was only okay as it was dry and didn't have much flavor. I would recommend this dish as the overall flavors worked well. The highlight was the sauce on the noodles, it tasted really good and spread throughout the noodles if you pour some soup in it. KV Noodle is the place you think of when you want a hip, upscale pho restaurant. It's got the mood, the atmosphere of a bar/dive restaurant. But there's a caveat to that. Being originally from California, I moved to Texas and got the taste of "everything is bigger in Texas". Unfortunately, that isn't wrong. For a "large" bowl here at KV Noodle, you get maybe a few forks full of noodle before it's all gone. The price also is astronomical for what you get. I ended up paying $55 for 2 appetizers, a bowl of pho, and a coffee. As for the pho bowl, my closed fist was almost larger than the bowl itself! Service is decent, you're sat down quickly, offered a menu and checked up upon after a little bit. Sadly, I had to ask for refills on my water rather than being checked in with. Not a terrible thing, but for how empty it was at the time, you'd expect better service. We got our food pretty quickly after ordering, so there's definitely an upside to the high prices, perhaps. Would I come back? No. I'm not paying nearly $60 for 2 appetizers, a coffee, and a bowl of noodles. In Texas, $60 was the price you'd pay for 4 bowls and 2 appetizers. read more

For our group of 15 people, we were seated immediately. The staff worked very quickly and efficiently to get our orders placed and set up our tables. They were very accommodating: one of our members had a peanut allergy and ordered spring rolls, so the lady working there was quick to suggest that she would make the spring rolls with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce. I ordered pot stickers for my brother and I to share; pho with beef flank steak, brisket, and meatballs; and lychee-flavored jasmine tea. Depending on what you ordered, the food would come out at different times. The pho came out first and items like the BBQ pork had to be prepared with more time, so they came out last. Everything I ordered tasted amazing and the pho was really satisfying after a long day of walking around. The pot stickers went well with the broth of the pho. The drink had a good lychee profile, but I do wish it were colder. At the same time, I do appreciate the lack of ice in the drink so that the flavor didn't get diluted over time. Everything was so good that we all finished our food and left all the plates and bowls empty. My cousins and I were looking for a late night dinner after going to a haunted house and this place popped up. Needless to say, we popped in. I got the Combination rice noodle in dry form and the fried chicken wings. Combination rice noodle- Delicious, I didn't expect the rice noodle to be the same as the noodles that are normally used in pho, but it was still delicious nonetheless. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and when mixed in with chili, literally fire. The toppings consisted of various meats and even shrimp. I also got a beef rib on the side that was super tender and even had some broth in the serving dish. Excellent all around. Chicken wings - Honestly, the chicken wings are probably going to be the reason why I'm coming back to this place because to this day, I can still remember the taste of that sauce on my tongue. Sweet, sticky, bursting with flavor. All on mixed and drizzled on top of the elegantly fried chicken wings, crispy and with every bite you just hear that crunch and crisp of the wings. I'd gotten takeout pho from KV Noodle during COVID. The pho was seriously good during that time so I was thinking I should check it out again especially since it's close by. Their Yelp also says they're one of the few spots that do overnight beef broth and I remember the guy being really nice - pretty sure he was one of the owners. The place is still nice and well-kept. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday around 9 PM. It was pretty busy, so that seemed like a good sign. The woman owner (whose comments I've seen on Yelp) got to us right away. We just asked for water while we looked over the menu which grew a lot since covid. While we were deciding, she was chatting with the table next to us, expressing how good their red rice and authentic the pho was. Her manner was somewhat boastful but whatever, they were agreeing with her; then she comes over to us and asks what we want. My boyfriend asked about the beef rib combo and wanted extra protein. Her response was, "Oh, it comes with a lot of meat already... I mean, I could charge you for extra, but it's a lot already. I'm not sure where you get your pho where the combo means otherwise." We found this rude and dismissive so we said the menu doesn't specify the contents of the "combo" more detailed info wouldve been helpful for us. She then described the dish and insisted there was enough meat. Then I order - shaking filet mignon beef with red rice (ok her comments to the other table influenced my choice) We also get spring rolls, and she takes our menus, stating that the amount of food should be good enough for the both of us...? Again, I found this rude cuz I was planning to take food home. The woman brings what we were able to order, we take a bite, and the meal was just okay.. The table next to us seemed very happy about their meal, which was a complete contrast with our experience. For a place that emphasizes its overnight beef broth, the broth was watery. The beef rib was chewy, it kept getting stuck between our teeth and not fall off the bone at all. Overall, I've definitely had much better pho broth and better beef rib where minimal additional seasoning was needed. It was edible but we had to add a lot of black pepper and sriracha/hoisin to make it more palatable. There wasn't enough meat; we should've paid for extra. For a noodle house, I was so disappointed, I'd rate the pho a 2/5. My beef plate was slightly better, a 3/5. The red rice was very oily, and I had to add soy sauce to each bite to cut through it. The shaking beef wasn't sweet, which I prefer but it wasn't that salty either, and the filet mignon was chewy. The spring rolls were the best part. They were very fresh & I loved the wrap they used. The peanut dipping sauce was delicious, solid 5/5! Also the older gentleman who cleared our table and helped us check out was so sweet. He overheard us mentioning that we liked the guava candy at the register and told us to take more. The spring rolls were good, and the older staff was super nice, but in all, the experience was just okay because of the food quality and how the owner handled service. The way the woman brushed off our questions about the combo pho + the restrictions placed at our table about having ordered enough wasn't great. Entering the space feels very inviting and modern, high ceilings andots of room between tables. Nice decor and cleanliness. Had the yellow noodle combo dry and some hot tea. It was 1045 and they let me stay until after closing (which I find rare in San Jose). The noodles had so many textures and layers of flavors that you can't ignore the complexity of the dish. Nice sauce that gets hit with your dip in the broth. Fresh veggies and noodles. I spoke to the owner and she was so friendly and professional. My friend recommended this place for a late night dinner and she told me I have to try G9 (combination noodle - ask for the soup on the side) and it lived up to its hype. It was super filling and flavorful, on the sweet side. I've never had this dish before so I don't have much frame of reference but it reminded me of Cantonese noodle soup and all the meat in it was a good variety. Gavin wanted egg noodles that day, so the plan was come here after rock climbing. I thought this was located in downtown, but it's located in East San Jose. The restaurant was empty when we walked in. I took the day off Thursday and Friday to hangout w/ Gavin during his spring break. The decor is modern, made me feel like I was at a galleria. They accept cards and they have a variety on the menu which was quite overwhelming. I did not even know what to order initially because everything on the menu was enticing. Gavin ordered the wonton soup (it also comes w/ BBQ pork slices). I ordered the combination bowl w/ yellow noodles and white noodles (egg/rice) and I opted for dry. That just means you get a small bowl of soup on the side to pour in your bowl yourself. The broth was light, so fragrant. The fried onions a bit overcooked, but the chicken, the fish balls, and the BBQ pork was tender and very flavorful. I loved the fresh and crisp scallions that topped the bowl. The service was great. I used to eat at Nam Vang but it doesn't hit like it used to, although I wish this place had the pickled chilis. I ordered the combination tap cam with both rice and egg noodle, you get the best of both worlds! Make sure you spoon in some of the soup into the noodles and mix it well. The sauce was a little on the sweeter side for my linking, but none the less delicious. My friends got the tomato rice dishes and were underwhelming. Was looking to pick up some dinner to bring back home after a recent visit to nearby Happy Hallow. Found this place via fellow Yelpers and the food did not disappoint. I placed my order when I left Happy Hallow and the order was ready right when I arrived. I ordered the following: - Seafood chow fun: very yummy and the quantity was surprisingly a lot. The shrimps were huge and included a good amount of broccoli and other veggies. - Beef stir friend yellow noodles: this one disappointed a bit only because the beef pieces were a bit drier than I expected based on fellow Yelp reviews. Otherwise, the dish was still yummy with the balance of noodles, protein and veggies. - Shaking beef with red rice: this beef was very tender, juicy and flavorful. Wish there was a bit more beef pieces but that's partly me being greedy LOL I was not sure what to expect with the red rice but it was really good! I think it was rice stir fried with ketchup. I was craving for chowfun and wanted to see what this place has offer. The restaurant is clean, has nice decors, and friendly staffs. They offer lots of selection of Vietnamese dishes along with drinks. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner who recommended us to a few dishes. I ordered the combination chowfun and it was yummy. The dish was packed with vegetables, shrimp, and meat. I love that it wasn't greasy compared to chowfun at the other places. I could taste the char from the noodles which was well seasoned. For a $17 combination chowfun, the portion was average. Overall, I'm impressed with the dish and will come back to try the other dishes. They have lots of parking in front! Lovely place with great flavors. My hubs and I thoroughly enjoyed the noodles that we both ordered. I ordered their bun rieu an was pleasantly surprised by all the ingredients and how flavorful the broth was. Unlike some places--they actually include a cube of pork's blood (traditional ingredient) if you're down for it. I really hate it when place eliminate this item. The restaurant is clean, warm environment, staff instantly greeted me with a smile and were very attentive. Not only is the food here AMAZING, but it is one of the few places in the Bay Area open late (until 11pm), which I find really practical. Found this Gem noodle shop from a friends recommendation. Although it was out of my area, I took the trip to try this pleasant surprise. I have yet to have anything here that was really amazing. I've tried their pho, rice plate, chicken wings, and Hu Tieu and they were all pretty standard. The first time I went the service was okay, but always seem really busy. The second time I went the service was really slow and it took them awhile to finally take our order. The reason I am giving 2 stars (food is about 3 stars) is because a woman who was helping bus tables there came to our table and sat down and spoke with us and then asked us to take a shot with her. I did feel a bit weird about it but thought it was nice of her, she said she wanted to show us how they take their shots with tobasco so I was intrigued. She never mentioned how much they were going to be, or if it was okay to charge us for something she was asking us to take. Of course I would never expect anything to be free at a restaurant, but I felt anxious to have to ask how much it was or to turn her down (sometimes I have anxiety speaking to new people). We later paid the bill and they charged us $10 per shot. Really wasn't what we were expecting when we were just there to have some dinner. Update: Adding a note that this was on May 26th, and it was not a server who offered us shots but some friend of the owners/workers there. The owner has replied and has asked me to call her, but I personally don't like phone calls so haven't. The soup didn't have any pork flavor at all and was just plain salty. Maybe the chef was having a bad day? The dry one was much better than the wet one only because the sauce gave the dish more flavor after combining it with the broth on the side.
