Firstly, they serve Thai food, not Chinese. And to prove it they posted it on the front :). The food: yum yum! Nothing pretentious, not fusion. It's the traditional Thai food. Tasty, appetizing, clean and generous. It's what you'll expect from a Thai place. What makes it even special are the condiments stored in cute little glasses. Must try: Kao Moo Dang, Kao Mun Kai (you can opt for just the hainan chicken if you like), Kwan's Pad Thai. Service: June and her friends are the best! Always prompt, always smiling - they really are from land of smiles :). Feels like you're dining in their home. Ambiance: Cozy. Place is small but not suffocating. Intimate but homey. Just ordered from Kwan for dinner. Got the Moo Ping (pork skewers), Pad Kee Mao with pork and Kai Tod (chicken wings). Omg the Kai Tod was sooo good! Wings were super juicy and fried perfectly crisp. Moo Ping was also incredibly flavourful and tender. Knocked off one star because of the noodles. There was no spicy and far too sweet. Can't wait to try more dishes next time! read more

The fried Hainan chicken/rice was excellent. Chicken was incredibly juicy/hot/crispy, rice had a wonderful garlicky punch, and the sauce/andsoup that came with it were both great complements. I've gotten the non-fried chicken before and wasn't nearly as a big a fan, so personally will be getting the all fried version moving forward. 5/5 The pad kee mao, also, delicious. Fragrant, lots of veggies, overall very solid. Only downside was that I didn't feel there was a ton of chicken, but overall a 4.5/5. Got the crispy pork appetizer, I guess I'm used to Hong Kong/chinese style crispy pork. Each piece is deep fried, which I think is just the style of preparation. I think it loses a lot of the juiciness if it weren't deep fried, so not my favorite, but to each his own. overall a 3.5/5 because the flavor and sauce were good, but loses points in my book for texture. Finally, got the tom yum noodle soup. Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of the soup base because it was too sour for my taste. I was expecting some coconut milk to balance out the sour profile. However, it came with the BBQ pork which was the redeeming factor. This might be the best BBQ pork I've had in a while, including any Chinese BBQ joint. For the soup, it was a 3.5/5 for me, but the BBQ was a true 5/5. Will definitely get the BBQ again next time. Overall, good service despite it being busy. The value is decent, parking is easy, and bathrooms are clean. Very homey in terms of vibe, and would absolutely recommend coming here. My favorite Thai place in the pasadena area. read more

Saw that Kwan Kitchen has pretty high ratings and I'm into Thai food so decided to check them out. Parking during lunch was a bit limited in the small lot due to all the vehicles belonging to the employees and patrons of the vet hospital next door. The server was very welcoming and attentive. The menu has some interesting items. The Kwan pad Thai served with crispy pork was legit and a little on the sweeter side, which reminded me of what I had in Chiangrai. The pad kee mao was also pretty good. The hotpot was a bit disappointing tho. It was basically a seafood tom yum with ramen noodles. Unfortunately it seems that they used preprocessed squid and shrimps. The preservative sodium tripolyphosphate turns the seafood a bit translucent and yields an artificial crunch and a bit of sulfur smell. This is a major pet peeve for me. No self respecting cook should ever use that stuff. Furthermore, at $25, it seemed a bit overpriced. read more

Fantastic spot with the best Hainan chicken I've had! The rice was SO flavorful! Also loved the Thai style coffee - it was my first time trying it & it reminds me a bit of Vietnamese coffee in the sense of balance between bitter and sweet. Came on a weekday night and was pleasantly surprised! Got crab fried rice, chicken combo and green curry. Wow the fried chicken and hainanese chicken combo was devine!! The batter is perfectly crispy and airy yet inside is super flavorful, juicy and tender! Love the soup, rice and sauce came with it too. Crab fried rice was also delicious but crab meat was a bit cold as I think they threw that in last so could use a bit more cooking time to warm up. Green curry is good too but nothing crazy. As soon as you open the door at Kwan Kitchen, you are greeted with a friendly 'how can I help you?' Seating was available and we asked for some time to go over the menu. When the server returned she was very helpful in answering questions about the menu and on what to order. Spiciness is on a scale of 1 to 5. We both ordered level 2. We started our meal with fried dumplings to share. They were excellent! We then ordered tom yum soup and two entrees to go - pad see ew and pad thai. The tom yum had veggies and shrimp and was excellent, even reheated. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, no easy feat in a soup. Pad see ew was very good and good value as it provided more than one meal. Good balance of ingredients but would order a higher spice level next time. Pad thai was likewise a good selection and tasted great reheated. Be aware there are a lot of customers picking up and the parking lot is very tight. I've never been to Thailand, so I wouldn't be able to judge the food based on authenticity. But I can tell you the food here is very good. I always order the Panang curry with beef and this one was spectacular. It was rich and well blended with the protein. The beef was tender and juicy. Sometimes the beef used is tough. That wasn't the case here. All the proteins were good quality. I asked for spicy and they delivered! We also had the chicken satay, egg rolls, dumplings, Kao man Kai and moo ping. I loved the moo ping, the pork was so delicious! Don't judge the food by the photos on DoorDash or other places even here on yelp, they don't do justice to the food. Food was done super fast. Got here on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away. Got Kao Mun Kai (combination), which is a combination of Hainan chicken and fried chicken. There are two sauces provided for the chicken that are Thai-inspired! The portion is very big! The fried chicken is super crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! After reading a second article on Kwan Kitchen by Kat Thompson in LA Eater, I decided to give it a try. I love Thai food, but I am tired of pad thai and satay. So, my favorite dish now is beef panang curry. What a disappointment it was, the meat was tough, very hard to chew on, and the sauce was very weak. The owners of the place, probably, treat Ms Thompson differently. To me, right now, the best Thai restaurant is Miya in Altadena. I haven't tried Anajak yet. read more

Went during lunch hour and there were still a few tables available. Ambiance was good; not too noisy and gentle Thai music playing in the background. Service was fine and very friendly, though waitstaff may have been stretched thing as they were hostess, cashier, and server. Now the best part.. The food. Not a lot of Thai restaurants in Pasadena serve ​​ (Pad Krapow Gai) so I was super happy to see this on the menu. When it arrived it smelled amazing and looked exactly as I expected: no modifications to accomodate local palates, like bell pepper, etc. *** and they use ground pork!!!*** which makes it real authentic). The fried egg was cooked to perfection: not runny but still soft in the middle. And it was all served with a small bowl of what I guess was fish sauce with sliced chilis in it and sliced garlic. Threw some of that on and dug in and I was literally levitating it was so delicious. Yes, it was that good! Ordered them first on food delivery platform and also came in person to their physical restaurant. I guess it's just steps away from where I live. Decided to check out Kwan Kitchen after reading some of the reviews. It's fairly new and a fairly busy strip mall. Parking was ample during lunchtime and conveniently near a Metro stop. The place has a modern sleek vibe but warm and friendly. Ordered food for pickup and they were very fast. The vegetable egg rolls were great, good crunch and tasty filling and will try the shrimp egg rolls next time. The larb was tasty, very herbaceous but I would have preferred lettuce cups to cabbage, but I'm no larb expert. The star dish has got to be Kwan's Pad Thai. The noodles, sauce, shrimp, egg etc puts it in the top 10 but the addition of crispy pork belly made it S tier. Adding crispy pork pieces to any dish should be an option in all restaurants. 5 stars read more

A group of friends own it and work together both in the kitchen and out front, and you can really feel how much they care about the experience. The food is outstanding. My favorite dish was the Panang curry, the flavors were perfectly well balanced and the kaffir lime leaves slices add so much aromatics. Moo-ping is something I love to order and this one did not disappoint. Sauce for it was legit and even came with sticky rice. The only thing we had that I wouldn't order again - the khao mun gai. Love this Thai place! Authentic and delicious Thai food; very friendly customer service and always accommodating. This place gives good competition to other Thai restaurants around Pasadena. Love their Pad Thai and they have their special one with the crispy pork. Love the Kao Man Kai (which is Hainan chicken), you can also order it as combination of the steam and fried Hainan chicken. Tom Kha and Green Curry are among of my favorites as well. Very decadent, the lemongrass inn the Tom Kha (coconut soup) is so fragrant. Recently tried their Mama Hot Pot and asked to change the noodle to rice noodle which they were able to. Asked for medium spicy level. When it came out, immediately that beautiful fragrant smell of lemongrass and lime hit my nose and knew that this is love at first scent. This one is a must try. Can't wait to eat it again. This place also sometimes participates in Thai night market DS night market in chinatown. But not sure about the menu they have at the market. Shout out to June..! I've only ordered take out here, but the people working are very friendly and the food is damn good! I've tried the moo ping, pad see ew with chicken, and the shrimp thom kha with shrimp. The moo ping was bomb! Pad see ew can be very hit or miss for me but I really loved this one! the shrimp in the thom kha was juicy and not fishy at all. The thom kha itself was delicious and full of flavor. I ordered it medium spicy and it was pretty mild I would say, so if you like it hot, go spicy. Prices are pretty average, but not bad considering everything seems to be fresh, full of flavor, and good quality! I find it amusing how on the door, there's a sign that talks about it being "fantastic Thai food", when it's anything but. I ordered multiple dishes, including their best sellers, and each one fell flat. I enjoy Thai food and couldn't find one enjoyable dish. I left feeling hungry and ripped off.
