I came in for an oil change and a state inspection, I'm walking out with the confidence that my car maybe able to last two years or more. Roy was awesome, he had me come out and showed me things that needed to be repaired/replaced that I've never done in the 8 years I've had my car. To be frank, my car has 86k miles on it and I've been HORRIBLE at doing my maintenance for it. The guys came right out and offered assistance. The plastic covering under my car had come loose and they needed to cut it off. Warning: This location is under new ownership and their team is horrible!! In brief, I took my vehicle there for a brake job and their mechanic(s) actually broke one of the lugs (and stem) off the wheel and did not tell me! It gets more insane. When I brought my vehicle back their attendant actually admitted they knew about this issue because it was in their repair notes! My vehicle also started vibrating at various speeds afterwards like the tires were unbalanced and/or the vehicle was now out of alignment. I tried on multiple times to get these issues resolved and there were always 5 cars ahead of mine, even after they advised me to show up when they opened. Oh, they also advised me to purchase a replacement wheel lug and stem (from Autozone, which I did, call ME insane!) which turned out to be a good thing because I'm now taking my business elsewhere. Their manager was also extremely rude throughout this ordeal, to the point where I decided to just give up. Honestly, it's probably for the best since I really don't want this crew touching any of my vehicles again. This is very sad because the prior ownership and team were stellar. Negative 5 Stars!!! Final update (3/7/2022, 5:42 pm) No one from Kwik Kar (NTX) ever contacted me directly to discuss my complaints in further detail. I have been wanting to write a review for Preston Kwik Kar for almost 2 months now. Our Prius had an issue where a timing belt (its called something else) for lack of better terms was starting to crack. The dealer asked us to replace it quickly to avoid getting stuck on the road as the alternator would stop working otherwise. I called lots of places in Plano to get estimates from Pep Boys to others. I can tell you that not only was Preston Kwik Kar the best priced, but also there was no haggling required and they offer a great warranty for their work. They were able to fit me in their schedule the same day and they got our car fixed up by that evening on a busy Saturday afternoon. I will definitely be getting 2nd opinions from them moving forward for all my automotive needs. Usually I am one to stay away from any establishment that uses a "K" in the spelling of their name instead of the correct Oxford Dictionary version. These kinds of places often come complete with a rednecky, hillbilly vibe (Kwik, Kustom, Kuntry, you get the picture), but I make an exception for this establishment. Initially I visited purely for the convenience of location, but the service I received on both my previous and current vehicle keeps me coming back. Today it was a tire rotation and pressure check. First I called to make sure they could work on my car without the dealer having a hissy fit (damn european imports - it's american or a pacific rim import next time). Having got the green light, I brought my car in and despite having all 6 auto bays full, they managed to get the work done in less than 20 minutes. They also did not try to sell me anything else (and never have). The front counter guy, Dan, was friendly, matter-of-fact and efficient, not only with me, but in his interactions with other customers as well. And the price was under $20. When going to Kwik Car, you get more than an oil change. During my recent service visit, Larry loaned me a car and explained to me how long it would take to repair my vehicle. The next morning [about 9 AM], I received a phone call explaining my car was ready. I was in a hurry to take off to Houston and was pleased with the fast and friendly service. I have become a loyal client of Kwik Car in Plano. Whenever I have my vehicle serviced, Kwik Car gives me a free car wash at Simon-ize down the street. I can upgrade the wash by paying the difference. If you want to develop an automotive service history [in one location] where the staff is ASE certified and friendly, go to Kwik Car. Believe me, you will be surprised at the wuality of service you receive. On various occasions, the staff at Kwik car has provided less expensive alternatives to reapir my vehicle. Needed my oil changed so went to Yelp for help! Found this place and thought I'd try it out. The reviews were either they gave it five stars or just one. I was greeted promptly and made my way to the waiting area. Nice comfy chairs, water bottles and full coffee service available. The gentleman working on my Jeep came in and stated that I needed my differential fluid changed because in his words "was black". He said the front was ok so just did the back. When it came time to pay I had questions regarding the line item charges so he went one then with me and explained a little more about the differential thing. I am 6 months new to the state of Texas. This was my first incidence of major car trouble. I looked up AAA approved shops in the Richardson area. The Preston Kwik Kar had overall good reviews on Yelp...and well deserved. Their shop/lobby is clean and well appointed. It is inviting with comfortable seating and refreshments. Everyone I dealt with both in person at the front desk and over the phone were professional, well spoken, and listened to what I had to say. Knowing full well what one of the major issues was I was glad that they listened to me and at no point tried to talk down to me. When Harry called to let me know the damage, he gave me several options to get my jeep back on the road. They had it done by the end of the business day(their hours are very accommodating) and it was exactly within the price I was quoted. When I went to pick it up my jeep was purring like a kitten again. I am grateful and intend to return to Preston Kwik Kar for future repair & maintenance needs and I will recommend their shop to friends and family. read more

*if you are a female needing a safe, trust-worthy place for your car, this is the place for you!* I was having AC issues and knew I needed an oil change, so I thought I would start at Kwik Kar. I've not gone to this location before, but I had gotten a coupon the day before for $10 off an oil change so I figured I would drive the extra few minutes to save $10. I rolled in on a Saturday afternoon, and the girl behind the counter was really friendly. She got my details, and introduced me to Jon, who would be working on my car. They pulled my car in really quickly, and got to work. Jon had told me before completing any repairs, he would go over everything with me to work up a game plan. Well...turns out I had a couple of underlying issues going on with my car. I had noticed a few noises over the last few months, but attributed it to the age of the car. Turns out....someone previously had done a not so good job of repairing a tire rod issue, or had used faulty parts. Jon took the time to bring me out to the car, show me the issue, explain them to me, and helped me work through my scariness at not just the price (everyone's first question) but the entire situation in general. Jon was really patient while I weighed the repairs and options, and helped educate me on car repairs for my cars age. He spoke over FaceTime with my dad, as I felt like I needed to have someone else to talk things through with, and Jon never once made me feel like i was a "dumb girl." My car now has cold air again, and safe tire rods! If you are a female needing a mechanic shop to feel comfortable in, this is the place. Car repairs are scary- but Kwik Kar is not! Incompetence is the key word to describe this location. Would always come here for oil changes/inspections since it was nearby, not anymore. Brought my vehicle in last week for a routine oil change. I had two coupons one for discounted oil change and another for free windshield wipers with purchase of full service oil change. I asked the guy when I first got there if I was even able to use both and he assured me "yeah we can do both, no problem." After the work is "complete" I'm informed by a different employee that in fact, no I can't use both coupons. This alone warrants a bad review but we're not done yet unfortunately. A few days later I take it to my mechanic for something unrelated he tells me first thing that he noticed is that I'm missing the aluminum shielding that is taken off during an oil change. He tells me they must've simply forgot to put it back on, great. I call this location to ask if they have it whoever I spoke to on the phone gets nervous and starts talking about being under new management, they might not have it because they did a big clean recently. Either way, I ask him to just check please. I get a call back saying yes they do have it. I go to pick it up and they give me the part but no screws to put it back on? I ask for the screws as well and they came back with four, definitely not enough. They informed me that was all they could find, what? I ask to speak with the manager about all this who then gets defensive and says "Well, I wasn't even here last week and the guy who worked on your car doesn't even work here anymore." And? You're the manager dude, you still have responsibility. I had to be the one to suggest they buy me new screws, ridiculous. They should've refunded me for the entire oil change as well. I will never use them again! First, I hate their constant attempts to upsell you on services. Secondly, I brought my own Toyota factory oil filter and asked them to use it. When paying, I verified by asking if they used my filter and did they discount the price. They said yes it was $2.00 discount. So $59 buck for an oil change. And NOT synthetic. Synthetic was way more! I just checked my oil after 1,000 miles, and there was a cheap oil filter there. The oil is already dirty too. My oil was never like that before. My oil never looked dirty even with 5,000 miles. It has me wondering if they even changed the oil in the first place. So I called Toyota and it's $24.99 for an oil change and they use factory filter. I have a Volkswagen passat, went in for an oil change and they said I also needed to flush the engine due to sludge build up and I'm at 37,000 total miles. They said this flushing would cost $80 + $80 oil change... I called another kwik kar up the road and they said they do the flushing for $35 + oil change.... Interesting. read more

Never trust what they said! I replaced two tires there. They were trying to hide the actual price at beginning. They told me 235 for each including tax and labor. They promised me finish it in one hour. 90,000 miles warranty. In the end, I got 255 each, waited 2.5 hours and no receipt and nothing about warranty. When I argued the price, he said he won't return my key unless I pay what he said Do business like robbers! I came back to the store the next day. I was glad their manager offer me free symsatic oil change and keep the promise of 90k warranty. I hope they can do business with honest in the future. read more
