I needed a cheap and quick lunch. The Pupusas are fabulous. I ordered the pork and cheese (Revueltas). Do not let the plain exterior fool you this hand held is packed full of flavor. Been here a few times. Pupas's are good (cheese jalapeño). Shrimp burrito meh. Carne Asada tacos not that great. Service kind of sucks. Ordering takeout was frustrating. They're very different from what I'm accustomed to. La Ceiba makes the revueltas without frijoles...which I didn't know; however, it didn't make a difference. They were a good different. I came back at another time and ordered their popular breakfast plate that consists of crema, queso, platanos fritos, salchicha, y huevos revueltos con jamon. This was effing good. Went in this morning ordered a pollo con tajadas special for 7.99. Food was great took a little long but was worth the wait. Customer service was the best I've had in a while. This review is based in on several visits in 2015, with the last being September 2015. The unpublished review was in my draft folder: Although the food is decent, I'm not a fan of the service. The last time I went, there was overly loud karaoke playing. It was .99 pupusa day so the place was packed and the poor server was overwhelmed. I feel bad for her but bad service is bad service. We spent too much time there hungry and without chips (we had to ask twice). They gave us a vegetarian burrito instead of the bean and cheese we asked for, and charged us extra. Pupusas were half the size as normal, because they were on special. On the plus side, the beans are lard free and the rice is made without chicken broth. read more

I went here with a few friends who really know about Papuas. I wish I could say this place had amazing Papuas but I cannot. The service we received was horrible. We wait almost 45 min for our Papuas. Even more, at first they brought part of our order to another table, set it down and after a few Mintues realized it was out order. The waitress instead of letting them have it or throwing it away, just picked it up and have it to our table?! Who does that?! The popusas are DELICIOUS! They have a Tuesday and Wednesday special of 99 cent popusas with a minimum 10 piece order. We LOVE the "revueltas" and "bean with cheese". Great pupusa's. Get the .99 ones unless you like the particularly large size but I tell you the .99 are easier to handle and best buy IMO. In some places it will say the .99 is only a few days of the week but this seem to be untrue as We've gotten them Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Flavor is good and good options. Spanish first language, no parking near by so drop someone off to pick up your order or try your luck in the grocery store across the street. Their has some spicier elements than I'm used to so watch out if you like a good Pupusa but don't have the tongue for spice. Everything costs money and here you can rest assured if you spend .99 it goes in your stomach, not to some random person asking for water for free. read more

How have I been living without having tried pupusas?!? I've always heard about La Ceiba's 99 cent pupusas on Tuesdays and Thursdays deal from friends and that was definitely what hooked me into trying them here. That price only applies to cheese, pork and cheese, and beans and cheese pupusas, all of which I would recommend. With $2 happy hour Monday-Thursday at 4pm as well, this place has secured itself as one of my favorite places to eat in Long Beach. The regular menu has a lot more variety to it besides the pupusas. Yesterday was my first visit, so I have yet to try them whenever I decide to come back (which is hopefully soon!). I'll definitely be coming back here more often! read more

So happily surprised by this restaurant. I tried a carne asada taco, a pupusa revuelta and a baleada (99¢). All were great. I went on a Friday night and there was Karaoke which was fun and varied. Some really great singers and some amateurs out for a night of fun yet all the people in the place were respectful and supportive. The ambiance was incredible!!! I felt very comfortable especially considering that there were Mexicans as well as Central Americans all enjoying themselves. I always go here for the pupusas; they are the best in the area! We have friends who used to drive all the way to L.A. for good pupusas until we introduced them to this place. I also recommend the horchata, but don't order it expecting Mexican horchata. As a plus, every one on staff is friendly and it's clearly a family run joint. A good little Long Beach gem. read more

Came here last night for some .99 Pupusas with my girlfriend, as its been over a year since the last time we've had some. Got seated quickly and our nice waitress with broken english explained the three pupusas which were on special (Pork & Cheese, Bean & Cheese, and Cheese) we both got one of each and decided to split the Desayuno Tipico. She brought us chips & salsa as well as the $2 Modelo Drafts we ordered, what a good combo. I was impressed with everything about this restaurant such good deals, great food, and friendly service.
