My friend's birthday was yesterday, April 17th. They said all they wanted for their birthday was a cute mini heart shaped cake from somebody we had found on instagram who had already made a cake for us in the past. Messaged them almost 2 weeks in advance. No response. April 15th, We were rushing trying to find someone who can do a cake for our friend's birthday that's when we found La Concha Bakery. The reviews and pictures looked good. I went in to order the cake. The lady who helped me was very nice and made sure to get all the details for what I wanted. I showed her the reference photo, I said I wanted a heart shaped red velvet black and red cake with nice piping, that's it. I picked it up on April 17th and it looked amazing. Not only did they follow my request but also added some glitter and pearls which made the cake even cuter. My friend loved it! At 11:50 pm we finally cut into cake and it was delicious only downside of the cake... black icing makes your mouth look purple for the night! It was so delicious and beautiful. La Concha is a staple in my family! We used to live in the area back in 2005 and it's now 2020 and this place is still there and still great. It's very cool that with every visit, we see improvement in the location setup, but what's more important is that the taste is consistent and still the best in Chula Vista and probably San Diego. The different flavors of empanadas is my favorite part. Pineapple, pumpkin, guyaba, crema, sweet potato, etc. I'm super grateful that I get to share this together this place with my kids. We especially love the bolillos!!!! We eat them like white people eat wonder bread toast and New Yorkers eat bagels. THE BOLILLO IS THE MEXICAN BAGEL! Bread looks good. Service horrid. Spoke to the manager to repair the opinion. My bread was placed in box haphazard. I felt like I was at supermarket. Nothing done about it. I would not recomend it due to service. I guess they don't like repeat buss. read more

The costumer service was great. I like the food, the food was yummy but the only problem I had is be careful when you eat their stuff you might get explosive diarrhea. It happened to me when I was eating my bread. Just be careful because the diarrhea I had was aggressive, but everything was great except my aggressive diarrhea. I can't say enough good things about this bakery. We had a last minute cancellation on a cake for our daughters birthday. We called la concha bakery, and even though they ask for 1 week notice, we explained to them our situation and they gladly helped us out 2 days prior. On the day of the party, my husband went to pick up the cake and accidentally dropped it!! The people at the bakery were empathetic and offered to make another within an hour at no cost! I came across this little bakery gem while looking for a carrot cake for that same day! I called the bakery in the morning and asked if they had a little tiny cake I simply needed it as a surprise. I was told they did and best of all that they would hold it until I was off work. I was a bit skeptical since I hadn't even tried any of their products but decided to go for it... The cake was yummy! It was cinnamony and moist and personally glad it didn't have raisins as some carrot cakes do. The moment I walked in there was a delicious smell followed but excellent customer service! I walked around a bit a found a Mexican cookie my mom used to buy me all the time as a kid. My heart was so happy... I decided to get a cookie and a few pieces of Mexican bread and oh my concha!! Absolutely delicious! The bread was soft, tasted fresh and was so flavorful I was taken back to Mexico with it's authenticity. This past weekend I called last minute on a Friday to see if they had any cakes available for my sons bday on Saturday and was able to purchase a strawberry macaron cake with a blue chocolate topping. It was kept frozen so it was perfect for a birthday at the park. When we had the cake it was still a little frozen in the center but my guest loved it! White cake with strawberry jelly. We found this bakery on google after looking at reviews. We just moved to San Diego and had no idea where to order a cake. Delicious and plentiful! We went at 10:30 a.m. on a Friday and they still had plenty of items. We bought the guava empanada, puerquito, pan dulce. And regular coffees. The pan dulce was soft, fluffy, but still moist. The empanada had a sweet outer shell with silky sweet guava filling. The puerquito was crunchy on outside with not too overwhelming warm spices. The regular coffee was great, flavorful and mild. All of it was only $6. Everyone was Covid safe and friendly. My son's 12th birthday was last week. We were shopping around for a bakery. My son wanted cupcakes (he usually wants donuts). Scoured Yelp reviews and came across this place. Surprise surprise...it's pretty close to where I live. My husband and I went in to check it out. We were greeted and assisted immediately. I looked through a book of the different cakes, cupcakes etc. So many... They all looked great! With the help of the employees we came up with the perfect idea for my son's party. The empanadas are Heavenly. It melts in your mouth & is soo tender to bite into. The outside has a flaky crust. It's Cooked Perfection. My Heart Stops & I put my life on PAUSE for a Moment to Take it All in. *I get the Beef & Jalapeño Crème cheese. One of the BEST Bakeries I've Come Across. & Also, it is an Authentic Hispanic Bakery. They Bake Everything FRESH, Daily. & I was told they Donate the leftovers to the Priest who gives it to the Homeless. I mean, Please Support this Business! *I haven't Tried All their desserts. NOT WORTH THE WAIT AND HASSLE! After nearly two years of not patronizing La Concha because of the pandemic, I pulled into their very small parking lot in anticipation of getting some Pan Dulce on this Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. Upon entering the place I was disappointed in noticing that it looked like a Covid-era fortress. The pan was completely barricaded from customers and there was pedi-glass galore surrounding all items for sale. That is, you no longer get to select your own pan! There was a line of four people waiting for the one attendant that was at the register. I wasn't about to wait. So, what's up with this? I understand taking strict precautions during and just following the pandemic. I also understand that private business can set whatever rules are legally permissible and can set policies within their business operations. But, really? Covid has pretty much come and gone and the vast majority of us are fully vaccinated. Also, the majority of businesses are fully open to pre-pandemic operations. La Concha's Pan Dulce is good, but not worth the hassle of waiting in line and then having to explain to the one attendant what they have and what you want. I l guess I will continue to get my pan from El Super! El Super's pan is just as good and you get to select your choices on the fly yourself! Not ever returning to La Concha. Oh! As another poster pointed out, the employees/bakers apparently aren't wearing their masks properly/all the time while preparing the pan. So, they want us (the customers) to not contaminate the pan/premises, but they expect us to trust them with what we buy from them? Something doesn't look right about this picture! read more
