We decided to sit down at one of the tables instead, to allow my wife to enjoy her coffee and our two year old to enjoy her croissant. The rude, abrasive male owner didn't have the respect or courtesy to address me, and instead directed his arrogant comment to my wife and daughter, "you know you can't do that right. If it's to go, you must go." I can understand if the place was slammed, but he was being rude for no real reason, even admitting had we ordered the same thing and sat down instead of asking to go it would've been fine. Oh my! This place exceeded my expectations! Food is authentically French, in this mom and pop hole in the wall little place!! Beautiful, quiet, clean and delicious! Their cappuccino is brewed to perfection and served just like it is at the little street cafes in Paris. Wow, what a big surprise this place turned out to be, located in a strip mall close to Sunset place, you find one of three French establishments. The exterior is very small but homey and the waitress seated us right away upon our arrival. We decided to order the sunny side up with a baguette and fresh fruits and a pesto crepe with slices of prosciutto. The baguettes was perfect the closest you will find this side of Paris, nice crispy on the outside and nice moist in the inside. The baguette went super well with the strawberry jam and the fruit were very fresh and sweet. The pesto crepe was amazing with a good portion of nicely sliced prosciutto, with the delicious home made pesto sauce. I am already planning for the next visit for brunch!! read more

Stopped by La Crepe Bistro for a small breakfast on Saturday morning. Shared the Crepe Normandie along with a side of Bacon. Quality La Crepe Bistro has a large selection of all sorts of different crepes to choose from. Whether sweet or savory there is an option regardless of what you would want. I was in the mood for sweet so ordered the Crepe Normandie, which is filled with apple chunks and caramel, covered in powdered sugar and then vanilla ice cream is poured on top. Basically a nice apple pie contained within the crepe. It was good, but nothing crazy. The crepe was very soft and it came with a fair portion of each ingredient. My girlfriend insisted on getting some sort of salty side and we ordered the Bacon, which was fine, but considering it really isn't really even on the menu it was fine. Honestly it was another situation where if I was a bigger coffee fan I probably would have enjoyed it more. Quantity Both the Crepe Normandie and the side of Bacon were very fairly sized. Since the Bacon is not offered as a side on the menu we probably got lucky as they really loaded up a plate. Value Maybe a bit pricey for crepes as the one we ordered was nearly $11. But it is a small place so I understand the need for some up sale. Ambiance La Crepe Bistro is located in South Miami in a small strip mall. It is a strip mall that contains three different French spots each of a slightly different nature. La Crepe Bistro has a small outside area on the walkway with about four tables and shade provided from an overhang. Inside you will find several more tables, but it is a relatively small shop. The majority of the space is taken up by the kitchen and preparation area. The restaurant is decorated with some French posters and pictures, but it is pretty bare. In the background you will find light jazz and classical music. It is a very casual and calming spot to enjoy a light breakfast. Crowd There were a bunch of people enjoying some food and coffee on a Saturday morning. Several had newspaper while others were with family and friends. It is a very casual vibe and seemed like a locals spot. Service The service was a bit slow, but nothing crazy. Considering it is at a cafe where no one really should be in a rush it is nothing to worry about. I did not love that almost all the empty tables were dirty, probably need to be a bit quicker about wiping and clearing for the next customers that walk in. Parking There is a small lot right in front for patrons of any of the strip mall stores. Be warned they have a security guard constantly watching so don't try and go anyone else. You can also opt to street park as there are lots of meters in the area. Extra Although nothing special, La Crepe Bistro is a quaint little cafe and breakfast spot to enjoy in the morning. The food is decent and the ambiance is nice, and while there are ways to improve it still is not a bad place to grab something light to eat. read more

Rude owner who backs as waiter with mediocre food. For Mother's Day I took my wife for breakfast to this restaurant which was more than half empty. Owner who was our waiter poured a glass of water all over us by mistake but since we came here before it was not a big deal. Food was ok but nothing special like Gustavia in Coral Gables. When we finished the food with no more incidents or any conversation, we tipped 15% which it was more than appropriate for the quality of food and service. Owner asked, if something was wrong with the food or service, and if it was not, to not come back again. I said no problem we will not come back again. Rude owner then started to escalate in front of my wife and daughter and a 6 top table of people that were looking at him scared and making faces. This is an unprofessional and rude owner. Draw your on conclusion if you want to put up with somebody like that. All he had to do is service the table 18% or 20% not necessary to be rude to people. Previously we tipped his teenager waiter 30% feeling bad that he mistook our order and they replaced it. It's a shame that people like this are in service industry and that might work in a tourist trap in France but I hope people know and make their own informed opinion. read more

Such a sweet breakfast spot! When we arrived we immediately were sat down on a Saturday morning which is great. I ordered a cappuccino and it was so delicious! I enjoy the cinnamon sprinkled on top. This is one of my favorite lunch spots when it's sunny and breezy out and I have a little extra time to spare. This bistro sits in an outdoor strip mall filled with boutiques and other small restaurants (which are also great) that bring plenty of people watching. For some reason, I feel like time slows down a bit here and I can enjoy my surroundings including the little birds that are eating at the crumbs that fall off the table. There is also plenty of indoor seating if you prefer AC. They have a variety of crepes, sandwiches, and salads. My favorite is the Mozzarella sandwich which includes prosciutto, tomato and pesto on a perfectly toasted French baguette. It also includes a delicious mixed green side salad. The staff is always very attentive even when the restaurant is full. Bonus... the shops at sunset are a block away if you feel like walking off your meal after. A must try! read more

Came here for lunch since our normal French restaurant in the same strip mall was closed, and so glad we did. We sat outside (no reservation) and our server was very helpful and offered suggestions from the menu. My first thought was to get a crepe, but the soup of the day (carrot) listed on the chalkboard outside sounded good so I ordered the 1/2 sandwich with the soup du jour combo for $11.95. I asked what sandwich he recommended and he said the Chicken, so I ordered that. He brought me a whole sandwich (honest mistake) and then (unfortunately) they were out of the carrot soup, so he subbed the French Onion. My husband ordered the Beef Bourguignon. We also ordered 2 glasses of French Chardonnay, which weren't listed on the regular menu, so if you want wine you need to ask for the wine list, FYI. The chicken sandwich came on a crusty French baguette, was smothered in melted Swiss cheese and came with a cajun mayo sauce and a sliced fresh tomato. It came with a little green salad dressed in vinaigrette ; it was very good. I think you can judge a French restaurant by it's French Onion soup and this one didn't disappoint. A crock arrived, smothered in melted, gooey cheese, with an oniony broth and submerged and soft croutons to slurp up. The server didn't charge me the uncharge for the Onion soup, which was appreciated. My husband got the Beef Bourguignon, which came with tender meat, carrots and potatoes in a rich broth. Our server brought bread to dip it in and my husband enjoyed it. I will definitely return to this local gem to sample more items. As a plus, you can eat outside and the prices are reasonable.
