If I could give a better review than 5 stars/great, i would. La Gallina has just opened to the public 1 week ago and I have already been there 3 times. What a pleasant change of food choice and ambiance from the standard chains that are in the area. By now i have tried just about everything on the menu and I can honestly say i loved everything i ate. I am not a foodie and consider myself a picky eater and I surprised myself in how much I enjoyed my meals. The decor is gorgeous, warm and very inviting. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Some of my favorite dishes are the pizzas, Today's Ragu + Soft Mascarpone Polenta, Spanish Style Garlic Shrimp - Gambas al Ajillo, Chicken Souvlaki, Paccheri Pasta + Napoletana Meat Ragu, Green Falafel & Pan-Seared Grecian Meatballs (and reminder, i am not a foodie). Everytime I leave La Gallina i find myself saying "that was just so good!" Definitely give La Gallina a try. read more

Food was ok. Staff is new and working out the opening kinks. My biggest issue is that the 'chef decides the temperature of your steak. Med-med. rare'. Due to medical issues I need to have my steak rare, otherwise it is inedible. I was told to order something else then, because this is their policy, the temperature the chef believes is the best for the steak and it's flavor profile. We intended to go to two different restaurants. They were booked solid. We headed to La Gallina. I've been wanting to try La Gallina since it opened. La Gallina did not disappoint. We sat at the beautiful, comfortable bar. The service was impeccable. The bar staff was efficient but not intrusive. The menu is varied and quite interesting. Decisions as to what to eat were difficult. The menu ranges from tapas, to greens, to spreads and dips to entries. We settled on 3 tapas/spreads. The most outstanding dish of the night was the meat ragu and polenta. It was a short rib which was tomato based over creamy polenta. It was served with grated cheese and toasted bread. It was beautifully presented. This is an comfort food dish. I still cannot believe how delicious it was. The other two dishes were the Grecian meatballs with, again, THE best Tzatziki and the baba ghanoush spread. We did order too much food because we dd not expect the portions to be so large. Their wine list is outstanding. I had a sangiovese (excellent) and my dining companion had their Barolo (very reasonably priced.) I will be purchasing bottles of both. We did not have a cocktail but they seem to have a wide range of options from Manhattans to Martini. All looked interesting. I HIGHLY recommend La Gallina. The place was jumping by the time we left. Not sure why owner of La Gallina could you please fix this as I want people on google looking at your reviews to know how amazing this restaurant is! First time trying La Gallina!! It was unbelievable very good food! We got sourdough bread and oil to start... super good. For dinner we got chicken Milanese which was very crispy and tasty. Butternut squash and mascarpone ravioli also very good super flavorful I really enjoyed this meal. The carbonara and chicken souvlaki very good. The food was so good we thought to try desserts which did not disappoint. Strawberry and lemon sorbet and table side Tiramisu. The cappuccino was displayed nice. Everything was absolutely amazing so happy we decided to try La Gallina ! The service was very good ask for Faith she was very attentive and super nice ! She gave her input on what's the best meals to get which were the chicken Milanese, butternut squash ravioli , and the chicken Souvlaki. 10/10 place read more

We quickly became fans of La Gallina when it opened. Great food, unique presentation, and a creative drink menu. Over the months we've been excited as the menu evolution was expansive and interesting. Not sure why, but our latest visit was a significant step back. The pizza had been reconstructed to be just like other restaurants, the service was subpar, and the entree serving size shrunk in half. We just had a wonderful family experience at la Gallina in Lynnfield. We stopped in because it looked easily accessible for a wheelchair. Wow, not only was it comfortable and accessible the manager Melissa kept coming over to make sure my son was comfortable. The waitress Yessica also went above and beyond! Very pretty space in Lynnfield, and generally quite good. Having travelled alot in Spain, Greece and the Med, I can't say I felt like the decor resembled that, but it was nice. We had a few really good tapas and even better Chicken Souvlaki, which came very nicely presented with some pita and pickled onions. In fact, the chicken was delicous. The tapas were ample...but the salad and other tapas were the smallest tapas I had ever seen. In fact, the salad was more like a small bite, and definetly not what we have when in Greece. The place was packed and a bit noisy (isn't every restaurant these days) but the prices were reasonable...if only that spoonful of salad were more. We'll try it again. read more

The food was just okay - we had drinks, apps, main course and dessert. The best course was dessert. The hot honey chicken didn't even taste like there was any chicken - just breading. We arrived at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Our server was terrible. It took almost half an hour to get drinks (3 people), then she disappeared. By the time our order was taken we were pretty unhappy. The server saw this and said "I know you're upset but I have 6 tables". I should add that everyone else was very pleasant, the hostess, the server who put together our tiramisu, other staff but this waitress just ruined the entire experience. It took 20 minutes after we told her to bring the check for the check to get to the table. No manager came to check if everything was going well or ask if the food was good. Super disappointed. First time going to La Gallina tonight, the service was awful. The waitress took our drink orders and didn't come back for another 30 minutes to check on our table. We were out of waters the whole time we sat there. Got our food over 40 minutes late. Our reservation was at 7:45 we left at 10:00. They didn't course our meals out properly, and the waitress didn't communicate to us about the kitchen being slow or the pizza being fired first in front of the other meals. I have never written a negative review but this was absolutely the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. Service was terrible (it took us 2.5 hours to get our food) and the management team was rude and dismissive to guests. For example, a manager told us the kitchen staff imploded and he didn't know when we would get our food but there was nothing he could do about it. Never said he was sorry or offered anything for the long wait. We offered feedback in a constructive way, tried to give the staff the benefit of the doubt multiple times only to be insulted by an unauthorized second charge to our card for drinks our server implied were on the house for our long wait??!! When the food did come out it was cold and a steak was raw (the steak was removed from the bill). Such a shame because it has a lot of potential. Hopefully there's a management change and this place makes it. Also be aware of the "optional" kitchen fee which is a percentage of the food and drink total. read more

Decided to try a new place on a whim...cauliflower app was great, as well as some of the dips. Cocktails were tasty. Those are only positives I can think of. Charging customers for 4 slices of borderline stale bread, a disgusting Paella, and a chicken dish that was nothing great are the negatives that come to mind. Server was pleasant, but this BS about charging customers a kitchen fee? No thanks, I wont be back. You already charge pretty high price for your entrees, but whacking me at the end? Maybe I missed the notice on menu that you do that. Unfortunately for the server, 20% tip becomes 17%. If you're paying your kitchen staff a lousy wage, just increase the price of your entrees and pay them better. Wont be back. read more

I'm confused how this has such little starts but then again it's Lynnfield and Market Street only caters to franchises and traditional American food. We ordered an appetizer and three entrees for a late lunch. The food was nothing special, and the shrimp on one salad was undercooked. After we got our food, the owner of the restaurant came over and put his hand on a member of our party's shoulder and said "Who's the young man?" The owner then came back a few minutes later, again placing his hands inappropriately on the guest, and this time staring into his eyes. We told him to back off and leave him alone. We thought the owner was pretending not to understand. He knew exactly what he was doing and didn't care that he was out of line and rudely inappropriate. Shame on this owner. read more

I just went today, Oct. 1st. I ordered the mussels and the hummus with lamb. Both came out together. I would have preferred the hummus first. I could smell the mussels before they even got to the bar and the smell was not appealing. I can eat my weight in mussels but anyone will tell you that if they smell fishy, and they did, then don't eat them. I ate a few. I also only ate a little of the hummus which was underwhelming. I'm very disappointed. The redeeming feature was the strawberry margarita. Seemed like most of the staff were still trying to figure things out so service wasn't great. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful but the food was just not great. And what's with the kitchen appreciation fee on my check?! Are you kidding me?! This isn't Michelin star food....I dint have to appreciate the kitchen on top of a $70 check. I won't be going back. read more

Pizza comes from "127 year old starter" but dough rises as if starter hasn't been feed in 127 years. Another poor addition to Lynn marketplace. I have been waiting months for La Gallina to open, and it did not disappoint. We dined at the bar and started off with an Olde Fashion and Muddled Berry Martini. Both were awesome. I also had the red sangria, which was large and very tasty. We started with the Spanish shrimp and whipped feta. Both were so good. We split the Margherita Pizza and Chicken Chicken Souvlaki. Both were fresh and tasty, and the pizza was so big we brought it home. MarketStreet has needed a new restaurant that is not another mediocre chain. I highly recommend going. I decided to try this restaurant because Northshore magazine had an amazing article on it. I sat at the bar which was a little crowded. It was a Monday night and the restaurant was empty. My cocktail was good. Wine pour was ok. I ordered the hummus which came with pita chips. Should have been just pita bread. I then ordered tapas, which was polenta and shredded beef. Tapas is usually small plates. My tapas was enough to feed 3 people. It was also cold (room temperature). I told the bartender that it was cold; she relayed it to the kitchen. You would have thought the manager or someone would have come to check. No one came. Will I go back? Maybe on a weekend night to see if there's a difference. read more

We have eaten lunch there twice and seriously some of the best Mediterranean food I have had locally. The Greek meatballs were outstanding as was the Baba Ganoush. We also found the service excellent and timely. The drink we ordered was just right - a Cosmopolitan. And what a lovely decor and we sat both times in a comfortable booth. And to make these "tapas" dishes more "fun", they are served on a variety of heavy/blue & white patterned china. Also when there today - the manager stopped by to say hi (much appreciated). For this location at Marketplace - there's a large lot right next door, so you're not fighting for the spaces on the small roadways. This review is just for our bar experience. The restaurant looks very nice and clean. My wife and I and father in law went here for opening night. There were about 5 bartenders running around making it known they were not happy. Subtle comments under their breath about waitresses, other customers at the bar etc. We asked a few times for waters before our actual drinks. There were a few people next to us, that seemed to know the bartenders that were getting a lot more attention than us. (I get it your friends come to visit, but when they have ordered 3 drinks before we have even had a chance to order our first, it's a little frustrating) After 15 mins of unsuccessful eye contact to try to order our drinks, we finally were able to order. I had a beer, my wife had a margarita and my father in law got an expresso martini. I do have to say the drinks were good, so they have that going for them. We also ordered the hummus plate for the 3 of us, it comes back with 4 crouton size pieces of bread and a small cup of hummus. We asked if this was the sharable plate, bartended very firmly said we only ordered the individual portion (which was $10, a bit pricey even as is) he then said he can put in the shareable portion but wouldn't be able to take anything off the bill. We decided to just eat the hummus and pay our bill. When we got the bill, there is a 3% "kitchen appreciation charge" no matter what. I am not sure if that is just because we sat at the bar or what, but seems like a shady way to get a couple extra bucks out of you, especially since they don't tell you about it. Idk if it was first day kinks or what but first impressions were not good. The menu did look good (overpriced) but good, so willing to give them another shot. read more

Went for lunch. Attractive looking space is the only thing this restaurant has going for it. Hostess and staff were lackluster. One of the worst meals we have ever eaten. We ordered a grain bowl that came with items not listed in the description on the menu (like olives, chickpeas, white potato, and pickled onion) and when we questioned these random items we were told the chef had "looked at the wrong picture" while making it. No offer to remake the bowl properly. Also ordered a Green Goddess salad which was missing the bacon and heavily overdressed, and over-salted hummus/whipped feta with pita. We found the food to be totally inedible, leaving the majority of our dishes uneaten. When the manager was informed, he seemed uninterested and asked if we wanted more food or a to-go box. It seemed like he was used to complaints about food and our experience was nothing out of the ordinary. In total this partially eaten lunch for 2 was $95, what a waste. I was so excited for a new Mediterranean restaurant in the area and so sad to report that this restaurant experience was a serious disaster. We waited ridiculously long for our food and drinks (as in hours), and had to ask over and over for things that never even made it to our table...EVERYONE was complaining as the staff stood around and food piled up on the open kitchen counters instead of getting served...by the time we got our food it was icy cold, the kitchen manager was uncomfortably defensive rather than even remotely apologetic, and after our server brought us the original bill and apologized for the clearly bad experience she returned our credit cards with a second bill she charged to our cards without even asking, saying she had forgot to add some drinks that she "should've charged us for". I could list countless other things that went wrong but not going to waste any more time on this restaurant...and it's a shame, because the (very cold) food was actually decent but the service experience potentially went down as the worst ever. read more

Went here for a birthday dinner and had a reservation. Waited 20+ minutes after we checked in, and when we approached the manager to ask when we would be seated he was very rude. Finally got seated, waited another 10+ minutes for water. The dips and my side salad were the best part of the meal. I received the wrong meal (mistakes happen, however I had pointed to the correct option during my order for the waitress to see since it was so loud). They rushed the correct order out, only for the pasta to be so undercooked that I couldn't stab the fork through it. By this point the others in our party were finishing eating, so when the waitress came back I asked for a box and said I would just cook it at home. She was apologetic but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, especially with the restaurant's prices in mind. Waited another 20 minutes for the check. When they brought the birthday dessert over, part of our group wasn't even at the table and were in the bathroom as we tried to keep the candle lit. I will never be back. Also, be forewarned that many of the seats here are not accessible and are high wooden stools that are extremely uncomfortable. read more
