I recently moved further away from La Mordida and miss it dearly. We were once a week type customers. Great food, prices and people. The chicken is really moist and tender in whatever concoction you order. They are a bit skimpy on the chips, and the hot sauce is nothing special, but the burritos are large enough and tasty enough that you really don't need either. They have raised their prices quite a few times since I first found the place, but I'd do the same if I had a line out the door constantly. Read the reviews and thought I would give this place a shot. I ordered a burrito and some chips to go and was told 15 minutes. Arrived in almost 15 minutes and drove my food home, which is right around the corner. Opened burrito to find it was already cold and smelt kinda fishy. More like 3.5 stars, but basically their food is great, authentic and it's a small place that not everybody knows about. The lesser star rating is because I used to come here all the time, and one day I got home, bit into my burrito and there was a huge hair in it. It definitely soured my experience. It was ok. I was very excited to try after seeing all the pictures, but wasn't too satisfied with my meal. I ordered tacos. Thought they were $1.25 each , because thats what it says online. Got there and ended up paying $1.50 per taco. Paid almost $3 for some chorizo tacos because apparantly they dont make tacos with that kind of meat, so I had to pay extra. The tacos were ok, nothing to brag about. I could probably find some better ones at a taco truck. Lady at register wasn't too polite either. Love, Love, Love La Mordida. We live nearby and I feel so fortunate to have such high quality, fresh tasting uncomplicated Mexican fare so close. We cook most of our meals at home, so when I say "how 'bout I pick up some La Mordida tonight" and the hubby says yes so quickly, I feel a little guilty! I'd go every night if I could! So bummed!!! We have lived in Pleasant Hill for many years and are so happy to support our local business. Especially restaurants (since we have so few). We have gone to La Mordida a few times and enjoyed the food. There prices haven't been real consistent, but we are not big complainers about little things. So this is why we are so disappointed! We always order about 1-2lbs of grilled chicken plain (does not come with tortillas, salsa, etc.) about $10.50 per lb. Just called, to order 3 lbs of chicken $49 bucks (Okay so now $15 for 1 lb chicken) Not happy, but still willing to support Pleasant Hill business. We get home and find hair in our chicken!!! Great little restaurant. We eat there all the time for lunch and dinner. They are a family owned restaurant and everyone is always very nice. They make the food very quickly and it is always consistent and good. Very good value which allows us to eat there more often. I have to admit, for the area, the food was good and we kept going back, satisfied with the food quality and prices. It's a great mom and pap place. We were literally passing by this place every single day since, they were renovating and moving in. We even projected the time when it will be out of business like the previous pizza place. In contrary, we have noticed more and more people eating there and lining up during the lunch time. My family has been a customer since they opened. Some months, taking out for a family of 4 once a week. We have spent al ot of money at La Mordida - but no more. I cannot eat sour cream - because, well, its gross. EVERY time I order my super grande burrito its the same, NO SOUR CREAM. Over the past few months 1 out of 4 of my burritos have come with sour cream, I get mad that I don't get to have dinner and give it to my husband to eat but I go back because its close and right 75% of the time. So, last night I ordered two burritos, one for my son and the other for me - same as always, NO SOUR CREAM. Well, it came with sour cream, again and I had enough of this mistake so I called the next day (today) and explained what happened. The girl on the phone simply did not know what to say or do - she put me on hold to explain what I was saying to her co-workers and I heard one of them say - why is she just calling now, what? Well, I ate (or rather did not eat) the burrito late last night and here is a news flash...this is not all I do with my day so I got around to calling at 4 p.m. My request was simple - I asked for a replacement burrito. You would have thought I was asking for a new car. I offered that I had my receipt, nothing. I was finally told that the boss was not there so there was nothing that could be done. I asked if she wanted my name and phone number so the boss could call me...she said no, I can get it from caller id. Since you clearly do not know what to do in this situation, let me share my thoughts: 1. Replace the burrito with an apology for the inconvenience and a smile. 2. Ask questions - has this happened before - show that you care about your customers. Yes, it has happened before. I figure you owe me 6 burritos that I could not eat and either gave away or threw away. This is the type of stuff that will affect your business and since you did not care about me, a former loyal customer, I am writing this review. Good bye La Mordida. I will now take a longer drive to El Faro on Monument...by the way, one time they made this same mistake and replaced the burrito the next day with a smile and an apology for my inconvenience. read more

Man, I hate to rag on people but sometimes I read the reviews for mexican restaurants in the 925 and just wonder how in the world people give such high ratings when the place is just not that good?!? I have a really hard time writing this review because the people were seriously some of the nicest out of all the taquerias I have been trying lately..super friendly and nice. The place was uber clean too and the food seemed to be cooked very healthy so if those are your conditions for where you want to eat, this is your place. That being said the food is just really...lacking. The chicken may be moist but there is absolutely no flavor to it. At all. I tried to liven it up by adding some of their salsa (which they also give out very sparingly) and the salsa was like water...runny, not thick at all..just not like salsa is suppose to be. I practically had to douse the food with it to get it to have flavor and then I had this watery mess all over my plate...it just wasn't the way mexican food should taste. I gave them 2 stars because like I said, the people are wonderful and they really are great about fresh healthy food. They just need to revamp their recipes.. read more

I don't understand the raving reviews. One star for cleanliness and another for polite service, but the food really is not very good. I would love for La Mordida to be a go-to place for me because it is in walking distance to my house. Other than extreme saltiness, the food is not flavorful and there is no variation between how the items taste. Last night's cheese enchiladas were a joke. They were swimming in sauce that seemed like it was from a school cafeteria and so were the rice and beans. It was almost like a bowl of soup. Horrible... I repeat, horrible service. There is an older and and younger women that work here. Both so rude. When I asked for chips when I was ordering (the whole reason I wanted Mexican food is I was craving chips and salsa) she said it came with it. We never got them. I waited in line to ask for them, and the older lady ignored me. I asked the younger lady, and she shoved them at me while rolling her eyes. I would have bought them.
