Based on what I have eaten in house and had from take out, the food is very good, well seasoned and tasty. It's family style so either bring a crowd or a appetite. Prices are reasonable for the quality and service that's offered overall. Their take out is packaged very nicely and travels well. Our recent group experience at La Parma was awful, just awful. We understand that there are people who love this place and have gone for years. That's why we went. Heard all the great things. It was not good... in fact, we left. The restaurant is very loud and reservations do not result in sitting anywhere within :30 minutes of the reservation time. Ok.. we get it, things happen. Well, they sure do. Then we sat down to eat. The salads? Caesar was watery. Chopped a little wet. Portion/serving sizes were schizophrenic with two scoops on one plate and four on another. Have no idea how the servers are trained. Calamari with sauce - undercooked and too much sauce. Mushrooms - Very good.. some of the best. Could be cooked a bit more. The service was awful and the food mediocre. We left. If I owned this place, I'd take a very serious (perhaps undercover) look at what its like to eat here. The experience was a 2 on a scale of 5. Went there for a baby shower today So much food! All delicious! The service was great The atmosphere was warm & friendly I'm a celiac and the waiter was so nice and attentive and really went out of his way to take care of me. My pasta & chicken Parm were all gluten free! It's so nice for a place to take my food allergy so seriously & not make me feel like a burden. As I left there was a big table with a bride & groom What a great place for a wedding dinner. The food is GROSS. The eggplant was mush, one pasta dish was way too salty and the penne a la vodka was all cream, the shrimp was very tough, the chicken was chewy, and the floor vibrated underneath your feet. I would never go back and advise to just eat else where since it was very expensive and I'm now going to mcDonald's. read more

After my mother's funeral, my wife and I decided to bring our three children for lunch. The menu was on a small computer tablet placed onto our table,; we were given the choice of ordering from the lunch or dinner menu. Initially we chose items from the lunch menu being that it was lunch time. However, our waiter told us to order from the dinner menu. He told us that the serving sizes were too small for our party on the lunch menu. This should have been the first red flag!! We ordered appetizers of calamari and pizza bread with cheese ; a ceaser salad, one platter of chicken parmesan and a pasta dish. Remember this is a family style restaurant. I don't eat meat and my son doesn't eat the pasta or chicken parmesan so we ordered him an individual grilled chicken. The ceasar salad was bland, the garlic pizza bread was served as garlic bread with cheese without the sauce. The waiter made an accommodation of bringing a bowl of sauce on the side. The penne was good and the chicken dish seemed ok to the other members of my family. When we received our bill we were absolutely shocked. The waiter billed us for 1 1/2 portions of salad $27, 1 1/2 portions of penne $40 and 3 portions of chicken parmesan$71. We were not informed by the waiter that he was ordering 3 portions of chicken nor that he was ordering extra portions of salad or penne. Everything was plated by the waiter off to the side of our table so we had no knowledge of what he had brought us or what were ordering. However, there were several extra platters of food plated that we did not need. Everyone had extra chicken on their plates and there were servings left over. Because three in our party do not eat salad, we had three extra bowls of salad on our table. The waiter charged us for 3 family style portions of chicken for $72.00 and 1.5 portions of pasta and salad. The bill should have been under $100. It was $218.00 not including the tip !!!!! As an Italian, when it comes to Italian food I'm very critical. At La Parma, I could not complain about one thing. Our server Dan through the whole ordering process was very helpful and answered all of our question. For an entree my father and I shared (it's family style) the fish of the day - Bronzino, which we ordered broiled in a Siciliano sauce (it's a lemon, butter, and capers with garlic) and it was so fresh. Same went for the Shrimp La Parma, which was also delicious. For the pasta dish, we ordered Penne Alla Vodka and this was definitely one of my favorites. Mastering this dish is very difficult, and most restaurants can't cook the pasta al dente and put WAY too much sauce. Here it was exquisite. The dessert also was a hit - we got the Tartufo. The whipped cream was made fresh and it was SOOOOOOO good!!! Definitely recommend La Parma II for any occasion, or for no occasion at all. read more

My only pet peeve and therefore recommendation for others; Always go with a group, otherwise you can only eat 2 dishes Decide what you want, tell the waiter, then after he suggests how much you will need, still cut him back 50 percent. Thank goodness the food was fabulous because the service was HORRIBLE!! We had a large party but it was not the amount of us that was the problem, after our reservations not being able to be found due to being put under some unkown name we were then put at a large table in the corner, and for the most part forgotten. We had to go to the hostess multiple times to ask for our waiter or ask one of the bus boys to get him. We asked for simple things like cheese for our pasta and pepper & never received them. Drinks, thank God noone was choking because they took forever to try and order! A friend tried calling in to have a bottle of wine sent to the table for the birthday celebration that we were there for but due to the reservations being taken incorrectly and then not fixed when we arrived and tried fixing that mess, we could not get it. Definite let down for a usually well liked place, made the birthday dinner not so enjoyable, won't do that again!! read more

My family has been patronizing La Parma II (and La Parma in Williston Park) since I was a child. The food is consistently great, however what held me back from giving it 4 stars was the service. Regarding the food, it's excellent, bottom line. Order the La Parma Salad, Zuppa di Muscles, Veal La Parma and/or Linguine in White Clam Sauce. You can't go wrong with any of those choices, but make sure you ask for extra bread for dipping in the Zuppa di Muscles sauce! La Parma II has a history of exceedingly fast service, and of rushing patrons out before they're ready to leave. I hate when another course is arriving at the table before the previous has been finished and on a number of occasions my tables have been cleared before we've finished our coffee and dessert. Checks are forced on you at the end of the meal and its made apparent to you that when you're done eating its time to for you to go. However, since it's usually packed all weekend, I suppose a little rudeness from the staff can be overlooked. As mentioned, the restaurant is always busy, and they don't take reservations, so unless you are aware they accept "call ahead," anticipate on waiting for a table on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All in all very good family style Italian with alot of Long Island "charm." read more

The very first time I had ever gone to La Parma was after my high school graduation back in 2005. My mom, and two of my friends had gone to La Parma (the location in Albertson), and had neglected to realize that the meals were Family Style. We had each ordered our own meal. I ended up having leftovers for a month, since my friends gave me their's to take home!! I recently ended up trying La Parma II with a group of friends for dinner, and it pleasantly reminded me of my high school graduation experience. This time, we all knew that it was family style, and we ordered accordingly. We tried their steak, broccoli rabe, penne ala vodka, chicken francese, and were all thoroughly impressed! The food was fiver star, the staff was attentive, and we all enjoyed the dining experience. There were 6 of us in the group, and our bill totaled to $180 WITH tip. So i've been going here for years as my in laws live about 1 mile away and this is their go to place for italian. This is place is pretty spot on if you want good italian food served family style. The waiters do take pride in their service and definitely let you know of what you should order from the specials. The main go to dishes for me over here are the baked clams, Branzino Oregenata, Lingiunie in seafood sauce, the linguinie in claim sauce, and the chicken scarperella. The chicken scarp has been a little dry recently so that's why i'm giving them 1 less star than a perfect rating. The one thing to note is that they do not take reservations so if you show up at a prime time expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes. read more

I went in with my boyfriend one day to eat at La Parma to if it was as good as everyone had told me. I love family style food but not this place. I was extremely disappointed. The food was incredibly greasy and I could tell they were extremely regular based by the way they treated me opposed to other people. On top of all of this it was extremely loud. Our visit last night for an early dinner couldn't have been more wonderful! Owners (chef)Anthony and Vincent and our captain Matt provided for a generously delightful 4 course meal along with a few glasses of great Super Tuscan. It's no secret why these folks have been so successful for so long ,offering the freshest and consistently great regional food , attentive and spirited service and a a true appreciation for their guests. Without going into great detail , it's safe to say that everything on the menu is amazing .. last nights stand out was the "Scampi Special" , which was tender, sweet longoustino type shrimp sautéed in a incredibly sumptuous rosemary butter sauce . I've been dining with my family at La Parma II (Huntington) since they opened 30 years ago. The food and service has always been top-notch. Chef Anthony is the best there is at preparing delicious, innovative dishes. His staff are always attentive. For the first time in 30 years, this weekend my wife and I decided to try the New York Strip Steak. We were blown away as it was better than the well-known steak houses we've tried.
