I stopped at this place today during lunch and oh my God was I surprised. Who would've thought great tasting pizza in the middle of nowhere. Their sauce is so delicious. And their Detroit style crust is untouchable. We carried out from here on a Thursday and the experience was pretty good given the covid times. I will say that the Detroit style. Oils have used a little bit more time to get the crust a little charred on the outside. The toppings were great, and the New York style was the favorite of the group. This place has fabulous service! The young man working this evening 3/9/21 was great! I had placed an online order and came to pick to find it had not actually gone through. Even though it was shortly before closing he said he could make it for me if I did not mind waiting. Not only that I realized I called it the wrong name so called and he was able to make me what I really wanted the Chi calzone not the Stromboli! Definitely service at it best! I've heard and read fantastic things about this place. I'm rather new to the area so I figured I would give it a shot. I ordered through door dash. First time as well. I can't say for sure if this was the fault of La pizza via or the delivery driver however was very upset to open the box to find most of the cheese had slid off of the pizza. After reconstruction I was able to have a few slices and the taste of the ingredients were very good. Just disappointed that this was a first impression. I would order again however. Jill helped us plan a menu that covered all the bases, and kept the cost very reasonable too. I have had some of the best pizzas from this place. I love their Stromboli and it is simply the best Stromboli I have had in this area, if fact, I cannot think of a better one. Their Detroit style is usually really good, not Buddy's good but better than Little Caesar's or Jets good. This last time was NOT very good: it was doughy, not a crispy crust, and I found it lacking. I am simply blown away. Flabbergasted in the most positive way possible. Jeff Valentino is an owner with passion and pride for his product and craft. I had a mediocre experience eight days ago at La Pizza Via. My gut told me it was an off night. We all have them. I, more than most I reckon. I took to Yelp not to flame but to share disappointment. Being from Newtown CT I do not subscribe to what Midwesterners refer to as pizza. I was looking for a pie in the New York vein. I just didn't get it that evening and chalked it up to perhaps another plains' state that doesn't get New England.....no no. Jeff gets it quite well. Here is where it gets a bit jaw dropping in today's times. In today's safe space of social media and technological curtains Jeff didn't give me the middle finger. He asked if we could try again-----on him. Um. Free pizza. With an eight month pregnant wife at home. I'm game. Jeff drove from FRG to my home in the Hawthorn Woods area. Not only did he bring a great pie. He brought some sides too-----on him because of an off night. The pizza was divine. It felt like I was near the Yale campus in New Haven or the North End in Boston. Hallelujah. A man who gets pizza right. It reminded me a bit of 'Piece' in the city or Bazbeaux in Indianapolis----the highest of accolades I could give. The garlic knots were a sinful, divine, culinary creation with no filter. It was a total 180 from eight days prior. There are many pizza places to try in the northern burbs. Bluntly put-----most don't have a clue. La Pizza Via gets it. Jeff Valentino gets it. In a business of fickle and fleeting as the restaurant one, I predict large things for this establishment. The product is great. The people running the show are even better. This will be the only place my family gets pizza from now on. I'll drive a little longer for ethics and class. read more

Great pizza find. No matter what your pizza hankering is, Pizza Via's got you covered..and then some. Searching for NY? Chicago cracker crust? Pan? Detroit style? They have it all under one roof. We were in the nearby area & starving. I'm always on the lookout for crazy good & unique pizza spots and when I came across their website, I was immediately sold. So many options using different dough for each style. It was a no brainer to come here. The NY is a popular choice and same dough is used for the Stuffed Breads and Calzones. Called in our order for a Margherita NY/NH (with shroom and sausage), Chicago cracker crust with same toppings and small Italian stromboli. I was told order would be ready in 20-25 min. This was good news because we were starting to get super crabby and needed grub asap. Pizza Via is a small spot located inside a newer strip mall. More of a take out place. A couple tables inside and 2 tables outside. Very clean. They have a cooler filled with various canned sodas and water. I grabbed 2 drinks and we sat outside. Immediately an employee approached me asking if everything was ok. I was sort of surprised as I just started opening our boxes. I took a quick look at our pizzas and noticed the NY/NH was missing the extra toppings I requested but I honestly didn't care, I just needed to eat it. I love Margherita anyway. I mentioned the missing toppings and he immediately said he'd make a new pizza. I assured him it wasn't necessary. He then said he had my # in their system and would comp us on the next pie. I can't express how taken back and pleasantly surprised I was. He even asked if we needed utensils, paper plates, red pepper or parmesan for our pizzas. This alone left quite an impression on me. I don't know if I'll be back in this area anytime soon, but if this isn't excellent customer service, I don't know what is. This is a family owned business (I read from NY) and it's obvious they want their customers to be happy. The employee who helped us (forgot his name) deserves 10 stars alone. He was great. We loved the fresh, simple, tasty sauce. My bf could have eaten this in buckets. Sausage was ok. Toppings & cheese were good quality. Didn't get that crunch from the Chicago cracker style. Wasn't crispy, just very thin. NY was really really thin also. Maybe too thin. Overall the pizza was good but missing a few marks. I heard the Stromboli was fantastic. I took a few bites and yes, I had to stop. A small was gigantic! Stuffed with loads of mozz & Italian meats; dough was really soft. You'll definitely need a nap if you can finish this.. These guys really know how to run a business. Prices are reasonable too. They're a role model to other eateries....Bravo to them. I may come back and try the NY again. read more

Decent pizza place for the area that offers a gluten free crust but does not have a dedicated prep area. They have a good selection of pizza toppings and different types of cheeses. I wish the delivery was a bit faster than 90 minutes and the employees took wearing their masks more seriously. Every encounter there was either no mask worn or it wasn't on their face. read more

Well I went to this place with high hopes.I actually cook a lot of pizzas I even bought my pizza oven from the same guy that taught the owner Jeff how to make great pizza out east.My 1 stars is only for how clean it is Thats nice.Had a slice of his thin crust Chicago sausage.With his all trump flour 50115. I d go with all trump 50111 .So the pizza already made was sitting on a table in the back.The counter person then reheated it.Wonderful.After having a few bites nothing.Pizza soggy with grease no taste at all. The sauce bland.Sausage bland.Dough soggy and bland.So disappointing.Then I noticed his pizza oven.Its not .Its a fast food change convaor ride thru oven.Just like Pizza Hut dominos etc.Thats a huge problem.Authenic equipment and ingredients win. I guess we should not have tried this place for pizza delivery for the first time on the night of a Cubs World Series game. The 15 or so previous reviews were positive, and this joint is only a mile and a half from our home. Despite the short distance to our home, it took an hour and fifty minutes to get our pie. To be fair, the online order system estimated that it would take an hour for delivery. However, it took almost twice as long. Needless to say, our pie was was cold and soggy. When we called after delivery, the manager told us they'd credit our charge back. If we ever try it again, we'll pick it up ourselves. The mushrooms were not fresh. read more

This is the absolutely the best pizza joint I have found in the entire NW suburbs!!! I have been a repeat "takeout" customer ever since they opened. Standard order is: one large Cheese, and one large Pepperoni. I grew up on NY style pizza and could never really "get into" the thick bread style Chicago pizza everyone up here eats ...and apparently "loves". It's just not the same. Let me tell you, for me, "pizza nirvana" has been found and it's name is "La Pizza Via"!!! It took more than 15 years of pizza disappointment (yes, I moved here from FL) to finally stumble upon a real NY Style pizza place that just makes my mouth water every time I think about folding one over one of those slices, and taking a bite. The Management Team is awesome. These guys really care about their product and their customers. I remember way back to probably my 5th order - when I got home, as my family and I started to dig into the pies we noticed that the crust was very different (more like your bready standard Chicago style!). My wife called about the order and asked if they changed their dough. Management said no, apologized, and immediately asked if they could "comp" a free pie on our next order. Wow! Needless to say, we did not give up on them and our "next order" was again back to FANTASTIC. ...and It has been that way ever since. Well, the pizza is good. But that is all they have going for them--especially when you have to wait 25 minutes beyond the 50 minutes we were told to wait for our pickup pizza. We sat in the parking lot for that whole time being told "10 more minutes" three times by the girl on the phone. What she didn't know was we were sitting in the car right outside the door, watching her talk to us on the phone. After we got off the phone with her the first time she hung up, looked shocked, yelled something into the kitchen, then went back to playing with her cell phone. When the pizza was finally ready there was no explanation, no apology, nothing. Just the pizza through the car window. Decided to try this new pizza place out for the first time since it's right in my area. Placed my order. Wait time was only twenty minutes. Got there right on time and the pizza was also ready right on time. Fresh out of the oven. I had ordered a 12" margherita pizza for $11 dollars which seems about the average price to me. The pizza didn't come with any basil on top. Perhaps I have to order that in addition next time. Everything else was pretty delicious! The crust tasted a bit on the cheaper side, still yummy regardless. Overall, I'd like to go back here and check out more things on the menu.
