We were visiting and wanted some local pizza and were amazed and taken care of so well. One of the owners was the one taking the orders which shows how involved they are in the day to day. And talked with us about the place and so accommodating. We sat outside in the beautiful weather. Ordered the most amazing margherita pizza and added chicken. It was AMAZING. Even someone else asked to order the same. 100% recommend in the Calistoga area especially after visiting a winery. They said they do weddings and events and just wow they are so good! Napa gets the fame for sharing a name with the valley, but there's a couple other locales that are cuter, quieter, and just as a nice experience in wine country. This place has very friendly and helpful service, clean bathrooms, nice atmosphere, and comfortable booth seating. Upstairs there's more seating. The outdoor seating on the balcony! would be an awesome place to replenish from wine tasting and plan the rest of the day to other wineries while you watch the Wine Train roll by. When we left Safari West we need an easy place to eat with kids. They had good service. We ordered spaghetti and meats, pizza, a house salad and fish and chips. The spaghetti is a large portion with good meatballs. It comes with cheese bread and definitely enough for two people to split. The pizza was delicious and the creat had the perfect crunch. Fish and chips were just ok. There was 8 of us and we couldn't sit together. It is a small restaurant. They also charge extra for ranch for the pizza. As a local, being charged 25 dollars for one of the most mediocre cheese pizzas I have ever had is insulting. I wanted to give them another chance after not ordering from them for years. I would still rather drive the 50 minutes round trip to Napa to get a little Caesars for less than half the price. Pizza was not hot, crust/dough is boring and flat. Don't waste your money here, Station pizza in St. Helena is far superior to this load of disappointment. Interesting place, kind of small, I chose to do take out, but I did notice there was a second dining area on the roof with a balcony. Honestly I wasn't really that hungry when I walked in, but when I opened the door, I immediately smelled the pizza cooking in the back and already my mouth started watering. They have a sort of small menu with a sort of bland atmosphere, but they do have pretty decent staff. I called in my order before hand, and within five or ten minutes, the food was ready. (Of course, the place was empty at the time, so they weren't busy) This place was actually recommended to my by my friends and I'm glad they did! Last week I stumbled upon La Prima because the girl at the front desk of El Bonita recommended it to me. They were one of only a few places open late in town, so I went in and enjoyed a glass of red while my pizza was being made. Because it was near closing, they were only offering pizza but I had my eye on the Big Family Salad. The extremely nice young man said he could go ahead and make it for me. Yay! We got to talking and I found out his name was Ernie, the son of the owners. He was so friendly and professional. It was very clear that he was proud of his work and really cared about the restaurant. I enjoyed talking to Ernie about Yelp and the restaurant biz. Anyway, when I got back to my motel room with the pizza - a combo with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers - and salad, I was very pleasantly surprised. This was by far the best pizza I've ever had!! The crust was perfect: crispy but not too thin. It was cooked perfectly. And then the salad! Fresh iceberg lettuce, fresh tomatoes, beets, and a huge mound of cheddar cheese and perhaps the best Ranch dressing (aside from my homemade) that I've ever had! I wanted to drink it! The portion of the salad and dressing was very generous! My salad and pizza that night was my dinner then my lunch and dinner the next day. With my glass of wine, 2 Sprites, a large salad & large pizza, my bill was $50 before tip. I fully intended to return before leaving St Helena 5 days later. Well, on our last night in Napa, we just had to get that pizza one last time. This time, Ernie my young new friend, was not in, but his dad Aldo was. Not as chatty as his son, but very nice and efficient. This time we got a veggie pizza with white and green onions, mushrooms & black olives. A medium pizza cost only $22 before tip. I have gotten pizza from La Prima for more than 30 years now, and this past time on Labor Day I ordered two pizzas for my nursing staff and myself, and there was something way off with the dough. I have to say I'm not one to leave bad reviews on any restaurant but I had to today, my family of 4 went to La Prima because I used to love it years ago and I wanted my daughters to try it. From the beginning the girl taking our order was not very friendly, you have to order before you sit down, I had to ask where to get the drinks because she didn't offer any info, no thank you nothing. She was also the one that brought us the food and she would literally drop the drinks, food etc on the table and we would say thank you and she would just walk off without even looking at us. I wish they would allow to tip after the fact because I gave her a pretty good tip for the service we received, we thought we had ordered buffalo wings but the wings were plain and she gave us bbq sauce on the side, we also had a Hawaiian pizza which was ok, but for $30 I was expecting more. All in all we paid over $100 for plain wings, an ok Hawaiian pizza, a small bbq chicken pizza that my husband took one bite and said it tasted like little Caesar's pizza, one pitcher of beer and 1 soda + tip. We will not be going there again mostly because we felt like the worker we dealt with could care less about us when there's so many other places in Saint Helena that make us feel welcome and the food is way better. read more
