Excellent service ! Pizza was really really good! The top their pizzas off with tons of your choice toppings. No shortage with that. Really nice place with a balcony that over looks the street. Overall a dang good pace to snag a pie and a few beers!

Interesting place, kind of small, I chose to do take out, but I did notice there was a second dining area on the roof with a balcony. Honestly I wasn't really that hungry when I walked in, but when I opened the door, I immediately smelled the pizza cooking in the back and already my mouth started watering. They have a sort of small menu with a sort of bland atmosphere, but they do have pretty decent staff. I called in my order before hand, and within five or ten minutes, the food was ready. (Of course, the place was empty at the time, so they weren't busy) This place was actually recommended to my by my friends and I'm glad they did! This was one of the best pizzas I have ever had!

Disappointing!!! Recommended by many... but when I went, I was not impressed. I ordered a few hours ahead, and showed up just before. My order wasn't ready, but didn't wait long. The staff was a little bit odd. The kids in the back were all goofing around. I got a medium Chicken Garlic pizza and an order of garlic toast. Garlic toast- no flavor, surely forgot the garlic! Just cheese. And not even hot when I got it. Asked for marinara to dip- eh. Pizza - tasted like mayo for sauce. Only had chicken and cheese. onions tossed on the top. I'll bet they forgot to put the onions on before they cooked it, so they threw them on after. They were raw! And over powered the rest of the pizza, which was flavorless without them. Had hoped for something amazing. :/

Last week I stumbled upon La Prima because the girl at the front desk of El Bonita recommended it to me. They were one of only a few places open late in town, so I went in and enjoyed a glass of red while my pizza was being made. Because it was near closing, they were only offering pizza but I had my eye on the Big Family Salad. The extremely nice young man said he could go ahead and make it for me. Yay! We got to talking and I found out his name was Ernie, the son of the owners. He was so friendly and professional. It was very clear that he was proud of his work and really cared about the restaurant. I enjoyed talking to Ernie about Yelp and the restaurant biz. Anyway, when I got back to my motel room with the pizza - a combo with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers - and salad, I was very pleasantly surprised. This was by far the best pizza I've ever had!! The crust was perfect: crispy but not too thin. It was cooked perfectly. And then the salad! Fresh iceberg lettuce, fresh tomatoes, beets, and a huge mound of cheddar cheese and perhaps the best Ranch dressing (aside from my homemade) that I've ever had! I wanted to drink it! The portion of the salad and dressing was very generous! My salad and pizza that night was my dinner then my lunch and dinner the next day. With my glass of wine, 2 Sprites, a large salad & large pizza, my bill was $50 before tip. I fully intended to return before leaving St Helena 5 days later. Well, on our last night in Napa, we just had to get that pizza one last time. This time, Ernie my young new friend, was not in, but his dad Aldo was. Not as chatty as his son, but very nice and efficient. This time we got a veggie pizza with white and green onions, mushrooms & black olives. A medium pizza cost only $22 before tip. I'm not kidding when I say that I would literally drive back to St. Helena from San Rafael just for their Big Family Salad and that excellent pizza! See you soon, Ernie! You are a gem and your parents must be proud of you!

This is one of the better pizzas I've had in a long time. This place has many bad reviews but I definitely had no issues. They did indicate they didn't have delivery currently for various reasons but they were quick, friendly and the pizza was great.

They gave us a cracker pizza that was burnt. No enjoyment one bite out of the slice .

It was a cracker of a pizza. Burnt and one bite out of the slice the rest was the cracker no enjoyment.

The service is attentive and friendly and there's a generally welcoming vibe when you walk through the door. The menu has a good variety that includes pasta and pizza dishes as well as some delicious antipasti / appetizers. I would love to come back and try more items on the menu, but I came here with my parents and we actually ate not too long prior to visiting. A few days before visiting the area, my brother showed me a video of how they make fresh mozzarella in house and I really, really wanted to try it. In addition to the fresh mozzarella dish, I got a glass of wine and we ordered some calamari. Watching them, serve the fresh mozzarella at the table with such a delight. The mozzarella dish and the calamari were both delicious. This area seems to be a slightly more busy part of town, but this place has a large lot and we found parking really easily. It was also on a weekday.

The atmosphere outside was lovely and much more enjoyable, as the dining room inside was surprisingly loud during our visit. The sourdough was good, though it definitely leaned heavily into the tangy side of sourdough. If you enjoy a strong, sour flavor profile, you'll likely love it. The miso Caesar was the dish I was most excited to try. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and there were moments when the flavors came together beautifully. However, I found the dish somewhat inconsistent. Some bites were perfectly balanced, while others were overwhelmed by the miso, making the flavor profile a bit uneven throughout the salad. The fries were absolutely incredible and tasted homemade. They had a perfectly crispy exterior with a pillowy soft interior, creating the ideal texture in every bite. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly executed, they were easily one of the highlights of the meal. The true stars of the evening, however, were the burger and the steak. Both were cooked to perfection and showcased the restaurant's ability to let high quality ingredients shine. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and expertly prepared. My only wish was that caramelized onions had been available, as I think they would have elevated the burger even further. Unfortunately they were unable to accommodate that request, but they were happy to provide raw onions on the side, which was appreciated. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered and packed with flavor. These were the dishes that stood out most to us and are what we would recommend ordering without hesitation. Overall, Charter Oak delivered some memorable dishes, particularly the burger, steak, and fries. Combined with the beautiful patio setting, it made for a very enjoyable Napa dining experience.

We made a reservation for Saturday night and they sat us in the main dining room. Ambiance was romantic, a tad on the quiet side though there were probably 8 couples dining at the same time. On to the food. We opted for the 4 course tasting menu, non alcoholic. They started us off with a beautiful non-alcoholic rosé toast which was dry, crisp and delicious. We ordered mocktails which were equally tasty. I cannot remember the names. See photo. On to the meal. Amuse bouche: They also brought an amuse bouche of tuna tartare with a non-alcoholic wine. That was fresh & delicious. Supplements: We added the focaccia olive bread and oysters as supplements. The olive bread was absolutely delicious & served with an olive oil from France. The oysters were super fresh with a fluffy cream with a hint of dill on top. We loved them. First course: The next course was golden beets. The beets were fresh & delicious. Like, not love. Bonus course: The next course ended up being a mistake. We were served the egg diavlo which was not part of the 4-course menu. We alerted our server. She apologized and said she entered the 8-course by mistake. The egg diablo is like a fluffy scrambled egg with peppers but elevated. This was ok. Like not love. Second course: Then she brought out the farfalle pasta with peas. Everything about the dish was fresh and handmade but missing something, maybe salt. It was comforting, tasty in its own way but somewhat forgettable. Bonus course: The next course was another bonus! Risotto with truffle. This was super rich, creamy & delicious. Again really good, a tad too rich for me.. Third course: The next course was the duck paired with Israeli couscous. Wow wow wow. This was the star of the dinner. Amazingly tender, beautifully seasoned, bursting with flavor. This was a highlight for me. Everything worked together. Loved this dish so much. Side note: My husband got the veggie plate - grits, beans, squash - as he's vegetarian and he said it was super underwhelming. See photo. Fourth course: This was a two cheese with berry syrup, a fig, a peach and persimmon I think. We were getting so full but carried on. The two cheeses were excellent and the combination of flavors were complex yet surprising and yummy. We thought we were done but I guess there was one more dessert which was like an ice cream, semifreddo with fruit. Both desserts were delicious but we were so stuffed. We had to go for a long walk after. I think has we had the 4 course as planned, the dining experience would have been perfect. Service was good despite the coursing error. We were brought waters and menus immediately, they also brought water for our dog without us requesting it. I'd heard that the buttermilk fried chicken was a specialty here, so we decided to share that. We also ordered oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and a green salad to balance out the heaviness of the fried chicken. The oysters and the shrimp were brought out first. Both of these were great, refreshing appetizers to have on a warm day. The fried chicken and the salad were brought out shortly after. There is a sauce to go with the chicken, that is recommended on the menu but you have to order it separately. I do recommend getting that sauce as it was delicious. The exterior of the chicken was perfectly crisp and it gave way to a juicy interior. We both really enjoyed it. The green salad felt necessary after the decadence of the chicken. Service was friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend visiting while you're in Napa.
