This is a nice casual home-y Korean spot. The lady running the place is sweet and accommodating. The food is very good quality and fresh, with a nice variety of banchan (side dishes). The bulgogi had. Wry little fat on the meat and the bibimbap had a generous amount of veggies. The rice is purple rice, which I prefer. The parking lot is free, although always crowded. The restroom is clean too.

Came around 11:30am on a Saturday for lunch and within about 10 min the restaurant was completely full. Everything is in Korean so be sure to ask for an English menu if you need it. We went off the Yelp reviews and got the oyster bossam and beef rib soup with veggies (no actual pieces of beef). The bossam itself was good, where the meat was a nice balance of lean and fat. The accompanying radish kimchi was well fermented and went well with the meat and oysters as well. The shrimp paste was a little too pungent for me. I would only get the oysters if you're really into them because they give you a very generous amount of it. We like oysters and didn't even finish half of it. I can't say this is my fav bossam in Ktown but would recommend if you really like oysters because I don't know of many places that have that as an option. Despite not having pieces of beef rib, the soup was delicious! It was hearty and flavorful, although I wish there was a bit more cabbage. This was probably my favorite of the two dishes we ordered. I really enjoyed their spread of banchan as well! Nowadays not a lot of places don't give you japchae so that was a pleasant surprise.

If you want to go where a lot of Koreans head to for some real authentic Korean food you've got to come to La Yimone!! The food is incredible and it's like being at a family's home with the authenticity it provides. I'm glad they have a menu with pics since I don't read or speak Korean. I ordered some soup to go. Prices are still reasonable for what you get.

Service is a little rough around the edges but I'm assuming it's just because they've been at this for years and they know their food is delicious. Possibly the best tasting simmered cod in spicy sauce that I've had in years. Loved that they put a few pieces of rice cake which I've never seen any other place do. Portion size is perfect for two, maybe three, with a bunch of tasty side dishes. The dish usually takes a while so I recommend calling it in before you get there.

Very home-made ish banchans. I don't eat these often but few times a year and clean, delicious just like ones from home.

My perfect to go spot when I need Korean food. Got to know this spot for its agujjim, monkfish, which is one of the best in the area. My Mom really enjoyed it and their mild agu soup as well (jiri). I got bossam to go this time and it did not disappoint. It's mostly older people eating in the small restaurant, so it's perfect to go spot for me.

One of a few restaurants opens 4th of July! We visited around 7pm and ordered fermented soybean stew and beef, and boiled pork belly. Loved the stew, super authentic and boiled pork belly was soft and no bad small at all. The owner was really nice. I definitely wanna come back soon to try other menu.

If you love Kfood, and try authentic korean food, this place is the one. My friends and I ordered simmered monkfish with bean sprouts, Bossam(steamed pork belly), and fish stew ...with lots of beers, and Soju. The owner was so friendly, and gave us side dishes "unlimited". The parking enterance was on the Westen Av side. And this place has one big screen to enjoy Dodgers game, so my friends snd I enjoyed eating kfood and watching baseball game. Was great night.

I ordered kimchi tofu casserole and seafood pancakes to go. Found an ant in my soup and will never go back to this place. Very disappointed.

Good value, tastes good, and the owner working here is really nice. However, the entries have very little meat in them.

Hangari Kalguksu is doing really well for themselves! It is good to see. There have been so many changes, but I am not a fan of the changes. What was once meticulously fresh prepared side dishes are now generic looking out of a jar side dishes. They have started to feature more things and have expanded their menu, as well as expanded their shop so that it is much bigger. Still packed! Parking is still valet and a hassle. The waiters and waitresses now speak perfect english, which was nice. Kalguksu is still very good. Overall, it feels more commercial than homely now. As a commercial restaurant, it is good. However, not a place I would travel for anymore. I can get this experience from most local spots. I am keeping this review at a 5 star, because it still is worthy of a 5 star. However, it is a lesser 5 star than 13 years ago.

Parking is always a pain in Ktown, but they offer valet for around $5, which makes things a lot easier. This time we ordered the Pork Belly + Jowl Bossam Combo (Large), and I have to say the jowl was the star of the meal. It was super tender and even better than the pork belly. They give you everything you need to make your own wraps. We also got the Budae Army Kalguksu, and the portion was huge. If you're a fan of army stew, this was fire. It came loaded with Spam, sausage, cheese, and plenty of their knife cut noodles. This place gets pretty busy, so expect a wait during peak hours. Even with a full restaurant, the service was still friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back for the bossam, and next time I want to try more of their other kalguksu dishes .

You get an incredible variety of banchan with so many different flavors, textures, and seasonal vegetables. It's basically a fiber-packed feast with a huge selection of side dishes, and it comes with barley rice, making it a delicious and surprisingly wholesome meal. For around $35 per person, the amount of food and variety you get is a great value. Not only do you get a beautiful barley rice feast with an incredible spread of banchan, but the set menu feels like a full dining experience. You'll go through multiple courses, from a comforting pumpkin soup to the crispiest kimchi pancake, and even a sweet persimmon dessert to finish. Every dish brings a different flavor, texture, and seasonal element to the table. What really makes this place special is how authentic the experience feels. The staff is traditionally Korean and incredibly welcoming, and every detail of the restaurant, from the placemats to the earthenware dishes, reflects Korean culture and hospitality. It feels like stepping into a true home-style Korean dining experience rather than just another restaurant. If you have a diverse palate and love exploring different cultures through food, this place is a must-visit. The flavors are comforting, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. The only downside is parking can be a bit of a hassle, so plan on using valet. But the experience is absolutely worth it. If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
