    This is the best soondae you can get in ktown. My family and I have been going here since I was a small child and still hits every time. Many regulars come to solo dine and order the soondae soup (#3) but I like to get the small soondae plate with soy noodles. Service is great and restaurant is always clean. Ban chan always so good too. If you love soondae you must try this spot.

    8th Street Soondae has long been known as the most famous and best soondae spot in LA. Whenever I crave soondae, this is the place I've always come to over the years. On Saturday, November 15, my family and I came here for lunch and had the soondae soup. On a rainy day, the warm broth and delicious soondae tasted absolutely perfect. The kimchi and kkakdugi here are also really, really good. And, all of servers were very nice.

    Soondae might not be my personal favorite, but this place seemed like a great place to try it. A green flag for this place was that the servers spoke mostly Korean and the customers were also mainly Korean. We tried the soondae combo (5/5 the large is very large), a soybean paste stew (5/5), and the fish (5/5 very tender). Great home-y place for soondae!

    Banchan was ok. Soondae was surprisingly good. I was really not about to eat it, but my Korean friends highly recommended it, and the taste was very unique. The texture wasn't bad. I really liked the peppercorns in the soup. The staff was very nice. There is parking right in front. However it's right next to a very smelly dumpster. The area also doesn't feel safe to walk around at night.

    I can't do gamey *at all* but I thoroughly enjoyed the Soondae Combo / 순대정식 menu. The skin of the soondae has a snappy texture I like, that I haven't gotten anywhere else (mostly the ones I've tried are quite soft throughout). My partner and I agreed that the insides were a bit crumbly and we would have preferred it be bit more chewy (maybe more moist or sticky?). But we agreed it's the best soondae we've had overall in California. I particularly enjoyed the soup which I usually can't eat due to it being gamey. This one was flavored so well and had great depth. Service was also great - the waitress was kind enough to give us both cold and hot barley tea. Tip: We were a bit overfilled with the large soondae combo. I think a medium soondae combo is enough for two, provided you're also eating the banchan. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back!

    The best Soondae in L.A. I've tried pretty every Soondae place in L.A. this is definitely not like a supermarket Soondae. Service is good, tho many of them don't really speak English. If you order Togo it's $2 extra charge. If you're looking for Soondae, this is the place.

    First time having soondae and I will be back for more! Located in a plaza with parking. Servings are very generous. The soups were so tasty and unique.

    We weren't even that busy, but it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. On top of that, the order was wrong, so we had to wait another 15 minutes. The server was extremely rude, and the food was just okay at best. Definitely not coming back.

    I'd never had soondae before and am so glad this place was my first experience with it. The restaurant was about half full, so we were seated really quickly. Our server was extremely friendly! She brought us ice water and tea. The three of us ordered one soondae combo, the steamed pork hocks, and a kimchi stew. They were served with a good variety of banchan and the stew was served with rice. Predictably, it ended up being way too much food. But everything was delicious! I was so glad we tried the pork hocks as well. Soondae and pork hocks may not be for everyone, but we really enjoyed both. Light and simple meats with flavor-packed accompaniments.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
