That single conversation changed everything. Lady M makes mille crêpes, which I learned are basically layers and layers of ultra-thin crepes with pastry cream stacked into a cake. It's French pastry... perfected with Japanese precision. Light, refined, and not overly sweet. We tried the Original and the Tiramisu, and both were incredible. My friend said we had to go to this amazing cake store after our dinner. He really helped up the place too. When we got there the staff ended up scolding him for waiting in the wrong line, which is kind of funny because my friend is such a geek and "rule follower". He never gets scolded and it left a bad impression on us, because we were dining in. The place itself is completely sterile like a doctors office. Super bright white LED lights and no character at all. The cake's look incredible like something you would see in the hunger games. I ordered the Signature Mille Crepe and was curious to try all the different layers. It was just "okay" to me. I felt like all the layers didn't really add anything to the cake itself. Me and my family genuinely had a 5 star experience here from beginning to end. The cake slices were *perfect*. They were light and packed with flavor without being too sweet or overpowering. They paired super well with the delicious coffee and I loved the extra attention to detail like bringing steamed milk along with my Americano instead of cold milk without me asking for it. Walked in and had the kiddos order what they wanted... and NEITHER ordered Lady M's famous Mille Crêpes so I ordered one too. Kiddos loved their Strawberry Cream Shortcake. Pistachio Mille Crêpes and Jasmine Calamansi Mille Crêpes were both delicious. Hubby liked the pistachio more, I liked the flavor punch from the other better. This place is nice, but I personally didn't enjoy my visit as much as I thought I did. I came in wanting to buy a whole cake and i checked online to see if they can do an in inscription on the cake and found that they did but only before a certain time because the person that does the inscription goes home early depending on the day. I wish they put that out somewhere online because I wanted to go here in hopes i can also get an inscription. Regardless, here are my quick thoughts: the cake was pretty good. I bought the seasonal matcha coffee cake flavor and it was soft, not that sweet, and very delicious. The service could have been better. There was no one in line for a while and I was ready to order but instead i ended up just watching one of the workers place cakes for display for about 10 minutes before I got to order. The ambiance was actually pretty nice. There are places to sit so I think a lot of people get cake and drink some cafe drinks that they offer. The tea pot is meant for 2-3 and is pre-brewed, so if you ask for more hot water you'll just be getting hot water. While no steep time needs to be watched, no refills are available, which felt a little stingy for something so comparatively cheap. The cakes are tasty but standard. I've been to places where the crepes are so thin you can get a clean bite with a fork but from the first bite they were squishy. It was annoying since we were sharing with friends but it's not a big impact on the mouthfeel. The coffee and matcha are both pretty bold flavors and are quite decadent. I've been buying cakes from Lady M for years and they never disappoint me. Yes, they are very pricy for cakes, but crepe cakes take a lot longer to make because of how many thin layers go into it. The flavors are not too faint nor too strong, it's just the right amount to really appreciate the flavor with each slice. I only get a whole cake if it's my birthday and I want to treat myself. I highly recommend pre-ordering on their website because they can sell out of cakes pretty quickly. If you want to dine-in, they treat it like a sit-down service where you're handed a menu (which is only cake and tea), the waiter brings out the cakes and then you pay once you're done. I think this experience is a bit excessive for serving just cake; they do serve tea so I recommend dining in if you really want to have tea with their cakes. However, if you just want to have cake without the fancy dish ware then I think it's better to just take to-go and find a place outside to eat.
