Wonderful family owned and run Greek restaurant with friendly service, excellent food complete with painted Parthenon and columns. So glad we went while in town for a meeting and will definitely return. We started off with the Flaming Saganaki and it was delicious! Spot on smooth and crispy goodness. I had a bowl of Avgolemono soup and DAMN I'm 100% pure Greek and that soup was authentic! Thick, creamy, lemony with orzo and white meat chicken. We then had Laki's Platter which comes with Pastitsio, Moussaka, Spanakopita, Tiropita and Dolmades. We switched out our Moussaka for another Pastitsio. One item was as good as the next. I prefer my dolmaded with meat and the leaf was slightly tough. My friend had the chicken kabob and she loved all of it. The one star off was for the salad. It wasn't bad, it was ok actually but different as it had grated ham and grated feta and one huge slice of tomato. Our family has been going to this restaurant for over 25 years. The food is consistent and delicious. It is run by a family who takes pride in the meals they serve. We have tried almost every dish on the menu. Last night my son ordered the Tour of Greece which came with moussaka, cheese pies, spinach pies and souvlakia. I ordered the souvlakia too with broccoli. The food here keeps going downhill. Ordered the leg of lamb and it is served as sliced thin pieces of meat, which was somewhat deceiving, that seemed processed. Last time I joined some friends there, I decided to order the Souvlaki hoping that it would be a better choice. However, the meat was so dry I could not continue eating it. Ok, this little Greek gem is a little hard to find, its tucked away next to the Tony's Sushi, if youre not looking for it, you may pass right by it! The Dolmades and Tzatziki were very tasty! Although i am used to these being cold, Lakis serves theirs hot/warm. I had the Original Gyro w/Fries. The Gyro was packed with meat, tomatoes and onions with their Tzatziki sauce. i enjoyed this so much that I got an order of Dolmades and another Gyro to go!! Absolutely amazing!! I am always impressed with Lakis. Placed an order for pick up over the phone and was ready in about 10 mins. The employees are so kind and caring, such sweet people. My favorite part of the Greek village sampler was the Spanakopita (Spinach Pie), it was delicious. Flaky, buttery, and SO yummy. I totally recommend getting the village salad too, the ingredients were so fresh. Fresh feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more! What's not to love?? Stopped by on the way from ATL to ORL. Close the the highway and fairly easy to find and to park. You walk in and it feels like a Greek restaurant - music, decor, even the paper placemats have fun info about Greece! Our group of seven were seated quickly and easily and served with verve and friendliness. I had the eggplant parmesan sandwich with fries. Each ingredient was good and the combination was a warm (hot!), cheesy, gooey, crispy (toasted bread) concoction that was flavorful and tasty. And filling. Steak-cut fries which I couldn't finish. Guy across from me polished off his seafood linguini (not a cream sauce). Garlic bread that came out with that was really good. Around the table were spaghetti with meatballs, gyros, and a few other dishes and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Service was attentive, friendly, and fun. read more

Lakis is exactly what you would expect from a Greek restaurant: warm, homey, and full of lively regulars. When I arrived, a family was standing outside, with one girl teaching another the footwork for some kind of dance. The restaurant was clean, and since it has a fairly small seating area and I'd gone in the late afternoon, the waitstaff frequently checked on me and was always available. I'd gone specifically for the spanakopita, my favorite Greek dish, and decided to get the souvlaki on the recommendation of a friend. I was surprised that the souvlaki also came with a salad, as pitas and vegetable rice are included in the entree; if that was mentioned on the menu I must've overlooked it. The salad itself was okay, though for some reason it included a pepperoncini and an unpitted kalamata olive. Needless to say, after already ordering a large meal and getting an unexpected salad on top of it, I wasn't interested in their dessert options. The seasoning on the souvlaki was fantastic. Rather than served on skewers it was presented in a very 80's plating, with the meat and pitas arranged around a dome of rice, which was nice-looking even if it was a little silly. Unfortunately, the pitas (which had some kind of cheese melted on top of them) were cold by the time they reached me. Still edible, and not bad at all, but I feel like someone in the kitchen must've misjudged when the meat would be ready (which is entirely possible, since one piece of it was a bit larger than the others). The rice was well-made, but it was just rice with tomatoes and onions, nothing really worth writing home about. I also wasn't much of a fan of their tzatziki, which wasn't quite as flavorful as I'm used to, and had fairly large pieces of cucumber in it. The star of the show (possibly due to my bias) was the spanakopita, which was fantastic. You'll sometimes see spanakopita prepared as one large dish and cut into pieces (which can leave each serving with too little filo) or as individual triangular pockets (which often has the opposite problem). Lakis gets around this by making large individual spanakopita, with the proportions of every ingredient just right. Well, just right for my tastes, anyway. The filo is flaky but doesn't come apart on you, there's just the right amount of filling, and it's seasoned perfectly. If you're reading this and considering giving Lakis a try, I'd say it's worth it for the spanakopita alone. read more

I've been eating at Laki's for a dozen years and have never, ever had an issue with their food. It's been a long time since I've dined in, years, we just get takeout and the food is consistently delicious. For Christmas Eve we ordered the Lakis Platter that comes with moussaka and pastitsio, spanakopita and tyropita and dolmades. We ordered the Greek lemon potatoes on the side. It also comes with a small Greek Salad and two pieces of garlic bread. There is so much food you will absolutely have leftovers! I've eaten a lot of Greek food in my day and of these two main dishes they are homemade with love and have been perfect for twelve years! The filo pies are from a Greek supplier but they're perfectly baked and crispy and delicious. The dolmades are pre-packaged but again, authentic from Greece. The lemon potatoes are homemade and one of the best potato dishes I've ever eaten. The food is a terrific value for the money and is very special. I've also had their pasta dishes, eggplant, gyro platter and pizza and it's all delish! You can pay more in this town for Greek food but this little place will never let you down. This place was the worse representation of Greek food I've ever had Actually it was far from Greek The Greek salad was shredded lettuce with shredded ham and feta cheese ,3 black olives and two pieces of tomato- the dressing was plain oil and vinegar. We now move onto the-entrees pork souvlaki, was 4 pieces of pork medallions (tasty but not the traditional )the pita bread had melted cheese The Grilled lamb was sliced and heavily season in a brine that I couldn't taste the lamb The sever wiping down tables as we sat waiting for our food, kept using the same dirty rag basically moving garbage around as she wiped the tables down. I was so disappointed in the food. The Tzatziki was bland, which is something I can deal with. But the Original Gyro meat was processed, salty, the shape of bacon and it was paper thin. Because of the thinness it was over cooked and rubbery. Sigh. The wall murals were a nice touch and the front of house as well as the restroom was clean. Except that there was no soap in the restroom. This makes me wonder how the servers clean their hands. Speaking of servers, in the afternoon there was only one on staff. She took orders, ran the food, handled annoying customers politely, sat customers and took take out orders. Way too much for 1 person to handle as the service was a bit slow. Good food for very good price. Stopped at Ocala overnight and this was the closest place to the hotel. The food is good and portions are very good size. Prices very reasonable. The chicken salad was huge and very delicious. Tzaziki wasn't the best. The gyro platter was good. As a long time fan of Danzanos, We were very disappointed when they close. For the past year we have been searching to try to find a pizza that we really enjoyed. So, tonight Becky said "Hay. What about Lakis, we always used to enjoy them!" Well, we grabed 2 pizzas and a small Greek salad from Lakis. Now we used to go Lakis when they were by the Schwinn bike shop off 17 street. We always enjoyed it then and just had'nt got around to get the pizza from the 1 on 200. Well we now live out on 200 and I've got to tell you these were the best pizzas I've had in a long long time. The cheese was excellent the sauce was so nice in just the perfect blend of sweet and Zest. The quality of the ingredients, the sausage the pepperoni the onions was 2nd to none. Good evening Food Porn Fans. Tonight I'm on the road in Ocala, FL. If you did not know it, I love Greek food, especially lamb. So tonight I'm trying Lakis. They are a Greek and Italian Restaurant. It is a little tacky, but the kind of place where the food is usually the star. Well not here. I began to order their Greek Roasted Leg of Lamb when the server explained it was not on the bone. This means that it is prepared days earlier and refrigerated or frozen. Basically not for me. So instead I chose the Gyro platter that was served with rice and a small Greek salad. What arrived first was a small salad bowl with an over ripe tomato slice, one small peperochini, one black olive, alot of shredded lettuce, which was covered by shredded ham and crumbled Feta-like cheese. Truly disappointing. Next the Gyro platter arrived. It consisted of a nicely toasted pita with dry sliced previously frozen gyro meat, onions, over ripe tomato slice, and Tzatziki. And what appeared to be Spanish or Dirty Rice. Dirty zrice is a low country standard, but this wasnt it. Tjis was made with tomatoes, onion and whatever. It was not Greek rice. The gyro was mediocre at best, with dry reheated meat. I must say the meat was the traditional beef and lamb mix. At best, mediocre. As you enter the restaurant you do not smell the great aromas that you normally enjoy and draws you in to most Greek Restaurants. The menu also included the typical Greek dishes along with savory chicken kabobs, skuered with tomatoes, onions and such. Not a Greek preperation in my experience. It is my suggestion that if they want to be a Greek Restaurant they should act like a Greek Restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant. There is another here in Ocala I will try tomorrow.
