Talk about a hidden gem! You probably don't expect to find a hand-pulled noodle shop in the middle of West Covina, tucked into the same plaza as a Tokyo Central market, but here we are! There's so much to love about this place! From the hand pulled noodles, to the upbeat vibes, everything was super spot on. The cool thing about LAN is their MANY noodle shapes and sizes, which you don't really see in other noodle places. It's hand-pulled by a noodle chef, so you know it's legit. The interior was spacious and well lit. The tables are distanced, and there's a couple outdoor tables as well. There's hand sanitizer for customers to use, and they clean each table well between customers. There was only one server, who did her very best to juggle between taking to-go and dine-in orders, answering the phone, and giving the best service possible throughout the dinner rush. Even with all that, service was always prompt and courteous. The food was super delicious! I got the cold spicy fried tofu appetizer and spicy braised beef wide noodle. The fried tofu was light and not too spicy. It wasn't oily as well, which was a nice surprise considering "fried" was in the name. The braised beef noodles was ABSOLUTELY delicious! The broth was light and delicate. Mixed with the (lightly numbing) spicy oil, and the taste went to a fiery level! The sliced and small chunked beef were very chewy and tender, falling apart as soon as I bit into them. The wide thick noodles were T H I C C and long, but very chewy with a great mouthfeel to it. I could definitely taste the freshness of the doughy noodle, which paired well with the spicy broth. A heaping serving of cilantro and green onion stems was given as well. I saw these guys all over instagram and I finally drove 40 mins out my way to go. I was extremely disappointed with the quality. My friend and I ignored the fact that the place was empty and the wonton spot next door was packed. We had wanted to try this noodle spot for months and we were determined! Service: 10/10 The server was very nice and we were sat right away. Food came out at decent times and we didn't have to wait for long. The server was knowledgeable of the menu and made suggestions. Food: 0/10 It was just plain awful. We had wings as an appetizer and it was extremely fishy. The noodles were decent I suppose but there was basically no flavor to the dish, and the meat tasted old. The cilantro was fresh and gave it something.. but it just wasn't what I was expecting from all the IG posts. My friend got another dish that I've had before and the flavor was just.. off and it tasted chalky. The place was clean and the cooks are in the open so you can tell they have very good sanitary practices. I apologize for not remembering the name of the foods! First off, this review is solely based on flavor. The restaurant is clean and the service is pretty good. But one big problem is when you ask for a recommendation, there should be an answer. My first recommendation would be to walk out and go next door (either side is fine)for dumplings or donuts. I love dumplings and noodles and prefer to experiment and try new cuisines. The waiter had no suggestions for us. We had to navigate the menue so we decided on the big chicken. It is $22 dollars. There is no 'big chicken'in the dish. You get one continuous long noodle, the ends of drumsticks, and the sauce has a coating that just numbs your mouth. You are left to figure out how to divide the one noodle with a spoon and chopsticks. The sauce was not particularly hot, just numbing. It made my whole family sick. We burped for 2 days. Big chicken: leftover chicken joints for $22 dollars and will cost your tongue. Cucumber salad: no flavor, but it was edible. It's better next door. Celery and peanut salad: more peanut and carrot. Zero flavor Dandan noodles: minced pork tastes like liver and not fresh Soup: Okay, but broth does not taste like anything (chicken, beef, or vegetable) but the numbing chili. In a last-ditch effort, we got the dumplings. Well, everything sucked so even though the dumplings were good, I can get a complete meal next door. Did I mention how expensive it was? If you have stock in tums, having gas is your thing, and enjoy burping up flavorless chili oil, you found your place. Suggestion: Take scissors to cut the continuous noodle. read more

We ordered the fried tofu appetizer, lan signature with wide flat noodles, Dan Dan noodles and XLB. The soup was light and the noodles were soft and chewy. The XLB was juicy and the fried tofu was so addicting. With every noodle dish, you're able to pick the type of noodle you would like and they have a variety of choices. Thank you yelp for the free food! Checked out LAN noodle for a Yelp elite event the other day. I was able to get a free spicy tofu, the signature lan noodle with wide flat noodle, and I ordered a pork belly as well. The flavor of the spicy tofu and signature lan noodle was great! The noodles were very Q, but I do wish I didn't get the wide noodles because they were quite large and got me very full. It also seemed like there was a bit of oil added in these dishes so beware of that. Overall I did enjoy this place, it was very delicious and would definitely come back and order more! Lan Noodle was a Yelp event this week. So I signed up and pre-ordered shrimp chow mein with thin noodles and chicken gizzard appetizer. The only reason this got a four was because it was a bit spicy for me but I'm a wimp, keep that in mind. The chow mein was absolutely delicious! I loved the favor. The gizzards were yummy. Hey I'm Mexican-American and some of us eat gizzards too. Because of the Yelp event, I have a new favorite restaurant. I can't wait to go back to try some of their signature dishes. Honestly, ive been coming here for nearly 3 years and I've only had 2 different dishes... one is the spicy beef noodle and the other, I don't remember at all but it reminded me of pho. Both were very good but I am HOOKED on the spicy beef noodle. I am a spice-head and this dish has always satisfied my craving for spice AND flavor. It is absolutely delicious and they have never had an off-day. It's exactly the same every time I come and I am so grateful for that. The service is always great. I've been craving Chinese hand-pulled noodles for a while, so you could imagine my excitement when I found this place not too far from me. They're located in the same, but opposite corner of the Tokyo Central parking lot and have both indoor and a coupe of outdoor tables available. Everything is made fresh with a clear view of the noodle master preparing all the noods and their staff is very friendly. I tried their dry beef dish with wide flat noodles, the cucumber appetizer, and my husband tried their veggie soup with triangle noodles. Everything was super delicious and flavorful, and the plates are pretty large that we had enough to take home half the portion. My dry beef plate had a saucy beef with bell peppers, onions and other spices topped with chopped peanuts over a bed of the noodles; Imagine a super saucy Mongolian beef dish. My husband's allergic to seafood and seaweed so his veggie soup was perfect for him since the broth is made from various mushrooms and veggies. Solid place if you're looking for some great hand pulled noodle. Their noodles were chewy, had great thickness, and definitely tasted fresh. You could see them making the noodles right when you came in. Ordered the signature LAN noodle with wide flat noodle. The broth tasted a little salty for me and not as rich, kinda like felt like drinking beef broth powder instead of broth that had been cooked with actual beef bones for a long time. It came with pieces of sliced beef and some cubes beef that were tender and I enjoyed that the broth wasn't too oily. Also ordered the dan dan noodle with thin round noodle. The sauce was on the opposite side of the signature noodle. It was not as salty or savory but we could definitely taste the nutty flavor. There was also a slight kick from peppercorn but it wasn't numbing or spicy. It came with some bokchoy and minced pork that was well-seasoned. I think the wide flat noodle would pair better with dry sauce like the dan dan rather than in soups. But overall we enjoyed our visit. The servers were very nice and attentive too! One of the best noodles I've had to this day! They make their noodles fresh with every order. I love how their noodles are so long and the noodle texture is really amazing. There is a variety of different noodle shapes to choose from. My absolute favorite are the wide noodles. Those are a must get! Here are the top 3 dishes that I recommend from here: 1) Big plate chicken - this is sooo worth it! It's literally a big plate of wide noodles and chicken. You get a lot of chicken too so if you can't finish you can to go and eat it with rice later. 2) Braised Beef noodle soup - the broth is very clean and not overly salty. The beef is also braised very nicely. 3) Cold Pork Belly dish. Very refreshing to eat with your warm noodles and there's also bean sprouts inside! This restaurant is a very authentic Lanzhou ramen restaurant. I think its taste is very suitable for my appetite. It is in the Tokyo central and there are a lot of parking spaces at the door, which is very convenient. The waitress here was very nice and enthusiastic to help me solve the problem of difficult choices. Because they have eight shapes of hand-pulled noodles to choose from, and you can choose whether you want to eat soup noodles or dry noodles. Hands down Worth it. The chow mein is so yummy. The Chicken plate is so yummy, and huge Xiao Long Bao's are freshly made too and are sooo yummy!! I find the staff to be very kind and friendly. Reminds me of the restaurants in Shanghai, with the pictures + numbers to make it easy to order. The sesame oil with wide flat noodles is so simple yet so good. Popcorn chicken was perfectly crunchy, yet light, with flavorful chicken. It was as if they forgot our popcorn chicken order and brought it after we were done eating, hence the 4 stars for ok service. Friendly staff, tho. This place is located at the far left corner of this very super huge plaza. It is home to a Tokyo Central Japanese Supermarket, a few restaurants, a Dunkin' Donut's, a Boba Milk shop, a few other smaller stores. The parking structure is huge, so you shouldn't have a problem finding parking even on a busy day. It depends on how far you wanna walk, of course! Lol! I don't mind walking, and I usually park my car far from people cause I have people denting my car. I ordered the Signature Lan Noodle in #2 style thick noodle. It's basically the circle type of noodles instead of the typical hand roll tossed noodle. They have different shapes of noodles which is pretty cool. The broth itself I got was medium spicy. Not that spicy too me, but it hits the spot. Overall the food was delicious but I wish they gave me more meat. I think I had less than 8 pieces of thinly sliced beef in my soup. Noodles are okay at best and the portion is on the smaller end in my honest opinion. For the price I do sincerely believe they over charge for their food products. These type of noodles are the household sustainable in Asian culture and are very cheap. Charging $15+ (at the time for this review) for something that should be around $10 isn't worth it. read more

Saw an ad on IG and was craving beef noodle soup so decided to try this place. It's a pretty small restaurant with maybe around 10 tables and 2 tables for outdoor seating as well. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup with thick wide noodles and my bf ordered the reg beef noodle soup. The thick wide noodles were the perfect consistency and so delicious!! I loved the kelp salad and chicken gizzards, they both had really great flavor to them and very tasty. I didn't really like the shredded potatoes, it tasted very bland. It tasted like it had no flavor, like it had been washed away. I ordered the signature lan noodle with the wide flat noodle. I love their wide flat noodle, it's super chewy and delicious.
