I have heard a lot of good things about LanZhou Ramen, specifically their hand pulled noodles. I came here with my friends on a Sunday night and we were seated quickly as it was not too busy. We were able to see the chefs in the kitchen work on hand pulling the noodles which was pretty cool. I ordered the Dry Fried String Beans and Fried Chive Pancake. I love eating a good Asian style plate of string green beans and I really loved their version here! The Dry Fried String Beans were cooked to the right texture and there was a delicious garlic sauce that enhanced the flavor of the dish. I was a bit surprised that a bowl of rice was not included with the beans, but that was not a big deal. I also liked the Fried Chive Pancake; it was crispy and light. My friend and I came here the other day and didn't have to wait to be seated but it was pretty crowded. We started off with the pork soup dumplings which were bigger than expected. They were really good but the soup spilled out of it easily. I liked adding chili oil to them. I ordered A1 beef hand pulled noodle soup and it was good. The broth lacked flavor but I added chili oil since I like spicy food. My friend got B5 beef stir fried hand pulled noodles. Both were huge portions we had lots of leftovers. It was cool to see them making the hand pulled noodles towards the back of the restaurant. Service could have been better but good experience overall. read more

I had heard about this place before visiting since my husband has been here many times while traveling for work. I suggest come with friends or family, so can share food together. Their fresh hand-pulled noodles are a signature dish, and their pan-fried dumplings and 小籠包 (steamed dumplings) are absolutely delicious! The owner even had the chef show us how the handmade noodles are prepared ! it felt like a mini tourist experience getting to watch the process. This place has been on my list for a while out on Buford Highway in GA. It's a Michelin star guide recommended restaurant so I had high expectations but also excited for them to be on the list! We had a group of 5 so we ordered several things to share. Our server was a very nice and patient man. I had 2 teenagers with me so that's why I said patient lol! Soup dumplings- I've had many in my travel but these exceeded my expectations. When the dumpling wrapper ratio to dumpling is perfect, you just know it's perfect. The skin wasn't too thick or doughy, the soup inside- OMG I needed a bowl of it. And the pork was perfectly seasoned. 5/5 Beef fried rice- simple but delicious. Not overly wet and not dry, good flavor and pieces of beef were tender. 5/5 Scallion pancake- it was what you would expect, was pretty standard and the sauce that went with it made it taste better. 4/5 My friend ordered a beef big noodle soup. It was thick almost like udon. The broth was really nice, but for me the noodle to broth ratio was a bit off. Too many noodles and not enough broth. The noodles are so thick it started to almost soak up the liquid faster. 4/5 Now this is what I came for bc I saw this on YouTube as something highly recommended. Big chicken plate with knife cut noodles. This dish says it can share up to 4 people but honestly it could be 6 or more. It was massive! My honest opinion of this dish is that it didn't have the flavor profile that I expected or hoped for. There was way too much cumin used, which I felt was unusual for a Chinese place. A little sure bc I do like cumin but that was just the reoccurring flavor and overpowering. There many good elements to the dish, the chicken was tender (although A LOT of bones) I think maybe they used literally half of a chicken in this dish and chopped it up into small pieces. So sometimes you would bite into small shard of bones so that was not pleasant for me. It had lots of peppers and onions and what I did enjoy the most were the "knife cut" noodles. You could tell they were homemade and they had a nice chewy texture. I still give this place a solid 4/5 bc everything else was really good, but the chicken dish could just come down to preference as well. My family and I just wanted a quick meal before leaving Atlanta and somehow encountered the worst meal we've ever had. First we started with a cold appetizer of FuqiFeipian. The minute the waiter brought it to our table, something smelled off. And yep, it was EXTREMELY spoilt. Like MULTIPLE days expired. We brought it to the waitress's attention and she took it off our tab. Starting off with this was not great so we clearly asked the waiter if the meat they use for the hand pulled noodles was prepared the day of. To be honest, fuqifeipian is a pretty niche traditional chinese dish and probably not ordered a lot so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt on noodles. We ordered the beef, beef tripe, and beef tendon hand pulled noodles. Nothing seemed wrong at first and the noodles + broth was really good until I tried the beef tendon. It wasn't obvious with the broth but you could still definitely taste that it was a little bit off. Not as bad as the appetizer, but you can definitely tell it was a day or two old and not freshly prepared like they claimed. To be honest, at this point I just lost all my appetite because the thought of the food prep going on behind the scenes actually turned me off even though the beef slices and beef tripe tasted fine. Again, we brought it to the waitress's attention and she started to be a little unhappy with us. I would have asked her to take the beef tendon off our tab but my dad already finished the noodles at that point so I didn't want to start something with the waitress and just wanted to leave. An extreme letdown since the ratings on this place was so good, I don't know what happened but just wanted to write a warning for future diners. read more

I would recommend to put in your whole order instead of splitting it up into appetizers and ramen in case you're an introvert and don't want to try to flag down a server, but I'm an extrovert so the pace was a lot better waiting. I've been here in the past, and I've had a different experience this time around. The food has become better. I had the roast pork hand pulled noodle soup and the broth was pretty tasty. The soup dumplings fell apart when you try to pick them up. Unfortunately they weren't the best I've had. Service was very subpar, but what would you expect from this place being busy and only one or two servers. Food is authentic with good variety of Chinese noodles, they taste identical to what I've been eating in China for years. I love coming here for the thick belt noodles, scallion pancakes, and soup dumplings. They make their noodles from scratch and sometimes you can watch them make the noodles from the kitchen window. The noodle types can be a little confusing. The staff does not seem to always understand "belt noodles" even though it is written on their menu. I've tried to explain flat noodles but sometimes I get a different variation. Even when I get the wrong noodle type, I still enjoy them though. I've been to many Lanzhou noodle places, and I have to say, the noodles here are really good--probably some of the most authentic hand-pulled noodles I've had outside of China. The broth is rich, the texture of the noodles is spot on, and the flavors are exactly how they should be. No complaints about the food at all. But the service? Awful. And honestly, disappointing. I watched as the servers went to every table with foreigners, smiling, asking them how the food was, refilling their water, giving them great service. But when it came to me? Nothing. Not once did anyone come to check on my table. I paid in cash, and the young man at the counter had the nerve to ask me, in front of my friend, "Do you need change?" The bill was $33, and I gave you $40--of course, I need my change. Why would you assume otherwise? And while the foreign customer next to me had their water refilled multiple times, mine sat empty the entire meal. I don't understand this kind of attitude. Why is it that some Chinese restaurants treat foreigners with so much respect but can't even offer basic courtesy to their own people? If you want to run a business well, start by treating all customers with the same level of respect. I love your noodles, but I won't be coming back until you fix your attitude. read more

I think they could have been juicier or had more soup inside, but it came out piping hot. I had the lamb hand pulled noodle soup.
