Last two times I have been to the city for the evening, I have ended up here the next morning for brunch. Their staff is attentive and their food is superb. The seats are super comfy and the cute owner will come around to tell you two try the homemade strawberry jam many times but it is really superb. I have had a veggie frittata and the veggie omelette and both I recommend. The Thai sausage is spicy and the chicken and waffles is a huge portion, surprisingly the waffle is the best part! I also have to give them kudos for making a proper over medium egg. Somehow this is a hard concept lately and I keep getting them with the whites runny, please no! Here, no problem, cooked white and runny yolk, perfect. Also, their coffee is good, like so good I asked for a to go cup and they happily obliged with a fresh cup to go read more

Wow. I literally just ate the grossest burger I've ever consumed. Not hyperbole. I'm not even sure it was really beef. The questionable meat had mouthfuls of gnarly bits and was barely pink (despite ordering med rare). Half of the fruit on the side was unripe. Had the best brunch here yesterday. The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was only a quick walk up the street. I had the avocado toast and my sister had the Lapisara special. Both dishes were delicious. The toast they used for the avocado toast really made my whole meal. We added Bloody Mary's that weren't great...should have gone for the bottomless mimosas. When we were there (a Saturday) there was a wait, but it went quickly. This is obviously a favorite spot for the locals as well as tourists. Since I stay in this area when I am in town, I will definitely be back! read more

Stumbled upon this place by accident. Everyone else had standard breakfast fare and loved them. My father got a side of sausage that had a very Thai-centric flavor to it. I loved it, he was put off by its spice. I got the Thai burrito and loved it. Line was long but the hostess did her best to get people in. In short: It was well run for service and the food was tasty, with interesting off-the-beaten-path flavors. read more

Lapisara Eatery is a chic and beautiful restaurant that serves both American brunch and Thai dinner. I came on a Tuesday night around 6:30 for dinner for 2 without a reservation, and the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. This place is definitely unassuming from the outside but is beautiful on the inside. It has a really aesthetic vibe. The waitstaff was really friendly and our food came quickly. We ordered the fresh rolls and Mussamun Curry. The portions were great and the food was absolutely delicious. We ended up paying around $18 per person. Presentation was also gorgeous. One of my go to brunch places in SF!! The wait can get pretty long later in the morning, but I've been a few times earlier in the day and haven't had to wait more than 10-20 mins. Wait staff is generally very nice, potatoes are great, and the thai tea latte is one of my favorites! Food is solid too. read more

They had a line for lunch yesterday but nobody at 8 for breakfast. I got a Tom Yum burrito which sounded unique and promising, but it was mostly fried rice instead of a lot of savory stuffed flavors. I poured some of the tasty sauce on which helped but I was hoping for more flavor. The chips had a little spice for a nice flavor but cold. Don't we get chips to be hot and greasy? I came here solo on a Saturday at peak brunch time (about 9:30), so a small 10-15 minute wait was expected, though I was offered a seat at the small bar. I was greeted by Prapha, the sweetest hostess in San Francisco. She would later check on me during my meal to make sure everything was to my liking, and have a small conversation about where I was from, how I heard about the place, etc. I had read good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to try it myself. That was a great choice. I had the Pulled Pork Benedict with the side potatoes, accompanied by a small chai tea. The meal was cooked and plated to perfection. The portions were bigger than I expected, and the total price of my meal was comparable to downtown San Francisco prices (about $20). The decor was a Easter egg blue and the fixtures included big wicker tea lights. It had a very cozy feel overall. I loved my brunch, and bragged about it to several others later in the day. My daughter and I wanted to try this place out after seeing the posts on Yelp. We already knew what we wanted to order before we got there. The yogurt with fresh fruit and granola and the eggs Benedict Florentine with roasted potatoes and hot green tea matcha. The food was pretty good & the servings were decent enough for my daughter and I to share. There was line outside waiting & we had to sign in with the hostess who was also a server. The wait was about 15 min. on July 4th week day holiday at 9:15am The place isn't big so there aren't a lot of tables but they try to get as many tables in there so its a little tight. The ambience is bright & cozy in an updated farmhouse kind of way. The service was fast. The rest rooms were clean. I gave it 4 stars only because my seat was so close to the table next to us that would could hit elbows lol Get a table by the windows and you'll be okay. I was intrigued by this restaurant because of the food offered on their different menus. Brunch and lunch are very typically American, and then dinner is all Thai food. I went for dinner and was not disappointed! I had the Cashew Nut ("Sautéed battered meat with zucchini, bell pepper, onion, dried chili, served with jasmine rice; choice of meat chicken, beef and tofu"), which was delicious. I especially like that you can choose your spice level. The interior design and ambience were exceptional, and the servers were very nice. I was very amused by the dessert, which was varied flavors of ice cream. It came with whip cream and sprinkles; super cute! It's a very nice restaurant with good food, and I would really like to go back for brunch and/or lunch! read more

Such a cute brunch spot! The aesthetic obviously got me excited, but I'm so glad that the food was also delicious. There were three in our party and we came on a Sunday during peak time and the wait wasn't crazy (by city standards), so another plus! We got the New York Steak and Eggs, Fried Chicken Benedict, and Pulled Pork Benedict. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was just a touch over at medium temp, but it was tender and the miso butter gave it a lil extra extra umami that made it so yummy. The eggs were nice and runny for the Benedict's and both proteins had a ton of flavor, though we all favored the Pulled Pork a little more than the Fried Chicken. We all thought the potatoes and veggies were lackluster, but the sourdough toast...we were obsessed! It is a casual-service restaurant so you have to be on top of what you ordered and how you ordered it but the servers are all nice. Overall great experience and I would love to come here for their Thai dinner! read more

Pretty good food with an Americanized lunch menu and Thai eats at night. I came here for lunch just shortly after landing in SF. Portion wise, Lapisara Eatery is very generous. Long line, slow service, cold food. They were busy, probably based on all the positive reviews. We waited in a very long line that moved relatively quickly. Twenty minutes to be seated was fine. They took our order quickly, but twenty minutes later our coffee had not come yet. We signal to the waitress and within ten minutes our drinks arrive. Moments later and our food is delivered. I don't have a knife. It is obvious from the not quite hot enough to be considered lukewarm food that it has been ready for about fifteen minutes without the benefit of a heat lamp. I gave them two stars because the food would have tasted good if it wasn't cold. A California Scramble is mostly scrambled eggs. They should be hot. read more

We came in for brunch on Sunday. We expected a long line at 10:30 but we were seated immediately. I love the Thai-brunch infusion. We had Thai tea lattes, which is a must for all Thai tea lovers. Thai tea can be overly sweet, but these lattes hit the spot. I've never had warm Thai tea, but I still enjoyed the drink. There are also bottomless mimosas here for $20. If I wasn't at Napa the day before, I would've been drinking this. My friend and I shared the fried chicken and pulled pork egg benedicts. I personally perferred the pulled pork because of the flavor profile. There was more to work with than the fried chicken. The fried chicken was still good- not soggy but well fried. The skillet potatoes were also very flavorful. If you're staying in Union Square, highly suggest this place as it's so close. read more

For drinks we got the Thai iced tea, butterfly lychee fizz, and the coconut milk latte. I got the Thai ice tea less sweet and it was perfect for me ( I usually don't like it super sweet). The butterfly lychee fizz was very refreshing (could be less sweet for me) and the coffee was also very good! I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars but I can't because of my racist experience. But if it was solely based on the friendly grandmother hostess and the food I would because it was delicious as the reviews and pictures definitely do the eatery justice. HOWEVER, they clearly aren't welcoming of Black customers. First, they didn't voluntarily check on our table at no point during our dining experience...not once. For example, even though me and another person ordered bottomless mimosas, they only gave us a single pitcher throughout our entire meal and never even asked if we wanted a refill. Second, since no one was interested in voluntarily checking on our table, I had to summon the staff, which was met with whispers, smiles, pointing, and laughter amongst the staff each time. Please mind you that a party of three of us spent $130 on breakfast plus a 25% tip...which I'm sure surprised them since "Black people don't tip." Well, in addition to my tip, I made sure to leave a note letting them know that I didn't appreciate the treatment and that I hope that it wasn't because of my Blackness...or even worse, because of my clearly visible sexual orientation as my gayness was on full display as its San Fran Pride weekend. Well regardless of what their bias was rooted in, its ridiculous as this restaurant is Asian-owned, and they themselves should know first hand what it feels like to be treated like crap as a community color just because of the color of your skin. As a Black woman, this type of treatment is common among Asians at the beauty supply store, takeout restaurant, and I've even had Asian friends say that they aren't allowed to date Black people....all the while pandering to white people. Well I don't know what type of racist ideologies they're teaching in Asia before migration to the United States, but the Trump administration should show you that those same white people view you just the same as black, brown, and yellow folks. So next time a Black person helps to keep your small minority-owned business in business, try to keep that in mind do better and be better. And just so that its clearly that I'm not making this racist encounter up on my mind, one of the establishment's only kind waitresses apologized before we left. read more

We came into The City for our annual weekend just before the start of the holidays. As part of our time, we scouted out affordable, quality dining options, and Lapisara came up in our search, so we made dinner reservations. The menu was creative and as mentioned, affordable (two people can leave with under $100 for dinner). But I'm afraid that's where the "pros" ended. 1. In winter, despite making reservations, insist on being seated as far from the front door as possible! It's freezing!! And it doesn't help that the restaurant also does not seem to want to turn on any heat inside (it was chilly throughout our stay!) 2. At two points, it seemed that perhaps our dishes were forgotten. We were patient, and eventually (20 minutes later, for dessert, for example), they arrived. 3. The food quality and taste were not bad at all! But equally so, I don't understand the hype behind this restaurant. Maybe we didn't order either of their better dishes? I'm not sure. Again, it was not bad! But I would call it mediocre. I'm not sure that we will return. We live in the North Bay, so we're in The City a lot. But I doubt we will venture over to Lapisara again. Should you flat-out avoid this place? No!
