Despite putting in a reminder at 3:30pm we never got a reminder and then at 4pm when they opened it said the waitlist was full for the evening. We called and received an AI voice who confirmed they were fully waitlisted for the night. Very bizarre! We walked to the restaurant and got in the waitlist and got a table for three at 5pm. Perfect timing! YELP, you need to improve your technology as you're doing a disservice to an incredible restaurant. Khao Tiew, perhaps it's time to consider Resy. We tried a number of dishes: The Soft Shell Crab Custardy Curry was so generous and unbelievably delicious. The Crab Clay Pot Rice came out screaming hot in a lidded ceramic bowl. The rice had a crispy shell and the crab meat and sauce on top got stirred into the rice with a squeeze of fresh lime. This dish is dreamy. The Chinese Broccoli with garlic soy sauce was perfectly cooked and has so much umami. The Crispy Eggplant Green Curry is fried in a rice flour tempura and shatters like glass between your teeth. The combination of the crispiness and creamy eggplant with the fragrant green curry sauce was epic. The Crispy Fried Shrimp with Crumbly Salted Egg Yolk was beautifully executed with the shrimp fried in the same rice flour tempura. The Salted Egg Yolk gave a strange gritty texture and is definitely an acquired taste and was almost fermented and kind of sulphurous. The Pad Thai Bolan with Crispy Fried Chicken was really satisfying and reminiscent of Khao Soi. Khao Tiew is perhaps one of the best new Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. The authentic Thai flavors were so appreciated after experiencing watered down Thai that seems to permeate the Bay Area. The ambiance was bustling, but not overly loud. Service was so gracious. Thank you for not skimping on these incredible flavors.

Ambiance: Ample seating inside. Lots of larger tables and…read morethey'll also ask if you're okay with sharing table space with strangers, which was fine for us. Noise levels weren't too loud, considering all the tables are packed. There's one bathroom and it's hard to wait without being in the way of the kitchen or the door as it swings open, so that's the only awkward thing. Service: Knowledgeable and friendly. Came by several times because we couldn't decide, but it wasn't a rushed feeling like they were trying to get you in and out (even with the long wait times). They give you a bottle of water for the table, so you don't have to ask. Food: While the food was okay, I don't think it was exceptional nor does it warrant the hours long wait times. Khao Soi - We got the crispy fried chicken version, but maybe a different version would have worked better. Since it was in a soup, the steam and the curry sogged it up and wasn't super crispy by the time we mixed to consume. The egg noodles were a bit soggier than my preference - I like them to be al dente for a nice bite, but it was more to the texture where you can mash it with your tongue to the roof of your mouth and it would squish. I did enjoy the crispy noodle ball that they topped, so you can break up at your leisure and add to the soup and still give the dish texture. 2/5 rating. I don't think I would order this again. Gaeng Kamen Ped (Duck Breast Turmeric Curry) - I am a fan of everything duck. The curry was light, flavorful, and paired very well with the rice. The pieces of duck were not exceptionally fatty, which was nice. There were only 2 pieces of fried okra, while tasty, I wish there were more. 3.5/5 rating. Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk - Probably the best thing we ordered. Since the fried rice is cooked in beef tallow, it's extremely flavorful and almost caramelized crunchy, giving pieces of texture throughout. It's like that mouthfeel of when you cook rice in a cast iron and have that nice crisp on the bottom, except rather than one large sheet, it's a bunch of little ones speckled throughout the rice. The beef was tender and melted in your mouth. Perfect with the creamy egg yolk and bits of fried garlic. The slivered green onions also brightened the dish. Would highly recommend this dish and if I came back, this would be the thing I order every time. 5/5 rating. Burnt Butter Kaya Toast with Coconut Ice Cream - Thick piece of toast with caramelized sugar on both sides, topped with a pandan?? sauce and coconut ice cream. Surprisingly light and refreshing. The flavors are subtle and nothing really smacks you in the face. The crunch of the, essentially, creme brulee on both sides made the dish sweet, but the ice cream and pandan?? dampened the sweetness of the sugar, making it much more palatable. 4/5 rating. Overall, I'm not sure if I would wait more than 20 minutes for a table here, as there are many other Thai places in the city that don't have the long lines where the flavors are more pronounced and, honestly, better. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't know if this place would stand so much on their own without all the influencers bringing business here.

I got crispy calamari which was perfectly crunchy and delicious. I love the inner texture that blended so well with the crispy texture. For my main dish, I got Pad See You Chicken. It was flavorful and the noodles were perfectly soft. It was savory and slightly sweet. I asked for chili oil because I love spice, and wow, that was GOOD. If you're going to do that, do add a small bit of oil, it's really spicy. The chicken was tender which was such a good blend. Their Thai Iced Tea is so good and creamy. They serve it in a huge ice ball! It was pretty cool and unique. The person who served us was very kind and welcoming. I loved his energy, I wish I got his name. He checked in on us a few times, even though the place was busy which is such a win. I highly recommend this place.

Every bite and sip was delicious. We ordered family style and shared everything. The service was also fantastic, even though we got there late and didn't realize until the food was beginning to come out that it was last call, our server and all the other workers that came by were all so friendly and made us feel welcome. We ate quickly and boxed the rest so they could get home. What we ordered: Tom Kha soup - coconutty, creamy, a lil sour and a lil spice. Delicious. Fresh rolls - crisp and springy with lots of greens and tofu and a good peanut sauce to dip. Crispy pork belly sweet basil - the CRISP and flavor of this pork belly was to die for. Chicken larb - this was my favorite dish of the night. Heavy basil/herbs, just a little kick from the chilies, full on flavor explosion. I will be thinking of this dish for a long time haha. Beef Pad See Ew - chewy in the most delicious and favor packed way. Love pad see ew and this one was great! Pad cha scallop - Came out sizzling on a cast iron! This dish was fun and the scallops while small, were fresh and had lots of flavor. And finally, for dessert we ordered the black rice durian. It was all three of us' first time trying Durian and we loved it! Creamy and a little funky but the black rice and sauce emphasized its natural sweetness. Thank you to everyone at Saap Ver for adding to my besties birthday happiness! Can't wait to come back.

The inside of the restaurant was quite lively, even though it was pretty early in the evening. The decorations were very colorful, and the atmosphere felt lively. Service was fine, but the food did take awhile to get to us. We ended up ordering crispy pork, duck curry, pad thai, and fried rice (sorry don't remember which fried rice in particular). I think the pad thai and fried rice were a bit light in flavor, but the curry and crispy pork were really yummy! The duck curry kinda took me by surprise because of the lychee haha I wish the portions were bigger, but great taste.

The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. It was around 8 PM, and it wasn't busy at all, so we were able to get a table right away. The restaurant itself is mid-sized for the city, with enough seating to accommodate a few large parties as well as plenty of smaller groups. During our visit, we shared three dishes: the Thai coconut hot cakes from their specials menu (which they highly recommended), the beef salad for some protein, and the drunken noodles. The Thai coconut hot cakes were warm, gooey, and filled with coconut milk. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy bottoms of the cakes and the chunks of pumpkin and corn throughout. The beef salad and drunken noodles were both good, but I will say they didn't necessarily stand out compared to similar dishes I've had at other Thai restaurants. Overall, if you're looking for simple Thai dishes that aren't overly spicy, this would be a solid spot to check out.
