Coffee was good but service was louder food brought out cold No apology didn't remake Won't go back

Husband loved the grand slam with a double side of thick cut scrapple. Daughter couldn't finish her three pancakes and two extra large scrambled eggs - huge portions! I had the seafood omelette (backfin crab meat and shrimp) with lemon dill sauce with two slices of white toast and it was okay. Not a fan of extra crunch with my crab meat but I know that comes (sometimes) with the territory. The waiter apparently overheard me saying that I would consider ordering a side of Scrapple if my husband's was cooked to my liking and brought it anyway. It was half the thickness of my husband's so I thought it was like a junior portion or a trial taste test or something. I ate it in three bites halfheartedly and then was a bit disappointed that we had in fact been changed $2.85 for it. Oh well. The fresh squeezed orange juice was good and overall it was a satisfying vacation breakfast. read more

Great breakfast, food was great service was great also, we eat at layton's at least two times every year on our vacation.

it wasnt good but it wasnt terrible. we waited 30 minutes to be seated outside, which was dirty. tables and chairs needed to be hosed down. food came in the correct amount of time. service was good. the food was average to say the least. home fries had no taste, bland. the crab benedict was soaked in hollandaise sauce. english muffin was undercooked. coffee was eehhhh. read more

Maybe just not my kind of place my pancakes were the size of a children's portion and were a little on the cold side. My husband had an omelette which was dry. The coffee was a little weak too high m glad Starbucks was close. read more

While they are very clean and well kept, the look is the best part. The food was cold and my toast was more like bread. The mixed fruit I had was probably the best thing about my meal. Our waitress wasn't very attentive at all. As for the price, I don't believe what we ate was worth the $35 dollars. Definitely wouldn't recommend. read more

Good breakfast food that's quick. Better than decent coffee, and the in house donuts are amazing. It's a great little diner-Esque place.

My wife and I were looking for a breakfast/brunch spot and we were happy we found this place.. We were able to skip the wait because we were only two people and didn't mind sitting at the small counter. I got the hungry man skillet and really liked it, I wasn't hungry after I finished it. My wife enjoyed her breakfast sandwich too. The coffee was excellent and the waitress refilled our cups twice without having to ask which was great. (passed the reservoir dogs test) I forgot to try the homemade donuts so I'll probably go back just for those...all in all, we would definitely go back. read more

Got into Layton's on a Saturday morning at about 9AM and experienced no wait. I still can't really decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing.Ordered a coffee and it was obviously watered down and the weakest coffee I think I've ever had. I ordered the 3 Buttermilk Pancakes with 2 fried eggs and scrapple. Pancakes were the highlight of the meal, fried eggs still were raw in the yolk and I didn't really eat them at all. Scrapple kinda tasted funny than the other scrapple I've tried. Service was not horrible yet fairly good, it was an old family member that has worked their for many years it would seem. Friend ordered the Supreme Omelette and specifically asked for no onions. The waitress wrote that down on the ticket yet somehow it still came out with onions. The omelette had an onion on top yet she still decided to serve it? At least she was apologetic about it. Overall would probably not come back. read more

SO and I went here twice. Both times our food was excellent, and the first time our food came out almost right after we ordered it! I loved the sausage gravy. What I don't understand is why the iced coffee I ordered was almost all ice, to the point where it was difficult to put cream/sweetener in it. Our group heard this was an awesome place to eat, so we decided to walk from our condo on 106th and go there for Sunday morning breakfast. There was a 20 minutes wait- which we figured, which was fine. Once we got in and ordered our food it took over 40 minutes to get our food- absolutely ridiculous. There will be a wait but it's worth it. Parking is typically full in the lot, but there is plenty of street or plaza spots available and a short walk. The eggs Chesapeake is absolutely delicious, I've never had better crab cakes or eggs Benedict before. Prices are great. Donuts aren't the best but they're fine for the price. Had breakfast, mostly cuz it was across the street from my hotel. After a reasonable wait, we were seated. Instead of the traditional American fare, I opted for the Jerk Chicken sub and found it quite tasty - sweet, with a hint of spice. The french fries served with it were perfectly cooked, with just a bit of salt. If I wanted more salt, I could add more, unlike many other resturants I've been to. My daughter's waffle was light and fluffy and my companions favorably complimented the breakfast sausage. I was stuffed and found myself still eating the fries as I enjoyed them so much! The only thing keeping it from being perfect was my server was very young and forgot to give me my change (so I could tip him!) even after being reminded by another member of my party. I'm looking forward to going back again. read more

Not very good, and a bit pricey. Visited with my mom and husband. It took about 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. We ordered drinks and our meals at that time. We waited another 7 minutes for her to return with our beverages. Our meals arrived about 25 minutes after that. We didn't order complicated stuff -- just eggs, bacon, toast. Pretty standard. And the bill was over $40 before tip. A bit pricey for simple breakfast. Nothing special. read more

By first expectation and the large line outside, I was expecting this place to be pretty good, especially from the ratings on Yelp. Little did I know that this would be the worst breakfast I had this year at Ocean City. The woman whom sat us was impatient- maybe because it was a long day, but there's no excuse. We were in front of a man who was asking for a spoon and they got into an argument for about 5 minutes. That was our first sign something awful was going to be prepared. First I ordered the coffee; the coffee was weak and the color I usually perfected with 1 or 2 creams came out with 1/2 of one. That was another sign we weren't going to get the greatest food. I ordered 2-eggs over-medium with some Bacon and hash browns from a guy that seemed to be overly excited with his work. The lemonade I got was pre packaged, but that's the case with 90% of places down in Ocean City. When I finally got the food, the sides were good. The bacon was pretty well cooked and the Hash browns were legitimately the way they were supposed to be. However, the eggs- *shudder*. I got over-medium and the yolks came out so runny I cut one slit in the yolk and the whole thing came running. This was the only place where the whites were the only thing I could stomach. My bread that I ordered was just basic bread. All in all, I would suggest avoiding this place unless you want runny eggs, watery coffee and bad staff who won't give you spoons. read more

This place is truly a diamond in a haystack. We have tried so many places for breakfast from little local places to chain restaurants. We look for places with gluten free menus and this place has AMAZING gluten free pancakes - the blueberry ones are just exploding with fresh whole berries. After discovering this place we went back every day til we finished vacation! The quality is amazing too- we ordered sausage that was plump an tasty and the fruit cup had big pieces of fresh fruit- blueberries, strawberries, pineapple. Very different from the usual canned pineapple and cantaloupe. read more

Food: I ordered the Memorial Day special Chesapeake Benedict. It was a spin on the classic eggs Benedict but instead of ham there were crab cakes. It was delicious. The crab cakes had big lumps of crab in them and my eggs were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered pancakes and eggs. His eggs came a little undercooked for what he ordered and he said his pancakes were nothing special. Service: Upon walking in, the place was quite busy. Despite this, we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server took our Oder but it took quite a while to get to us. I know they were busy and that could be why, how wet the hostess stopped by our table and questioned if we had been served yet. When we finally received our food, the people seated after we were and around us were severed quickly. I'm guessing it was just a hiccup with our table. read more

We came here twice because of convenience. The first visit, we both had the Grand Slam, which was pancakes, eggs, 2 meats, and a hashbrowns. The pancakes were super fluffy and golden, and our request for crispy hashbrowns was honored. I also had a glass of their fresh squeeze OJ, which when first served, I was disappointed because of the size of the cup. However, when I tried it, I immediately knew it was all fresh squeezed juice that was amazing. I took off one star because I prefer my eggs over well. No runny yokes for me. The first set was runny and when I asked for the over well eggs, another set was brought out that was equally as runny. I ate the whites, but did not enjoy the yokes. Our second visit was a quick one because we had a fishing trip booked. I had the special pancakes that day, which had coconut and banana in the batter. Amazing! Another set of fluffy pancakes. Both visits had fast service and our food came out quickly. We tried their doughnuts and thought they were very good. The cinnamon bun I had made a great breakfast snack the next morning after heating it up in the microwave for a couple seconds. If you are looking for a good breakfast, I would suggest Layton's. Was it anything over the top special? No. But the pancakes were incredibly fluffy and I really enjoyed the special ones. I would come back every year we visit OCMD. read more

Unfortunately it seems that I only get to review the two ends of the spectrum; outstanding or subpar service. Initially the wait was not too long (15 min), but once we sat down it took a turn for the worst. We ordered coffee and it was able to get cold twice! It shouldn't take 45 min to get 5 order of omelettes ready to serve. People that came after us were served first (with similar orders), so apparently there is a problem with how orders are prioritized. We gave ourselves about an hour and a half window in order to make it to a future engagement and ended up having to scarf the food down. Terrible establishment, steer clear!! read more

Layton's is usually our go-to for quick and delicious breakfast but the service/meal we had today left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Our party of 8 was seated quickly, albeit at two tables. The food took a very long time to arrive after we placed our order. The chipped beef was cold, the veggie omelet was a literal thin whisp of egg covering some barely warmed veggies, definitely not a full 3 egg omelet, that left me still hungry. WHO IS STILL HUNGRY AFTER EATING AN ENTIRE OMELET? Me. That's who after my barely there omelet. The pancakes while fluffy were dry AF and the side order of scrapple that was ordered was harder than old-times shoe leather, when asked for a redo of the scrapple, the waitress laughed and joked that she has been playing hopscotch with it out back before serving it up. How unprofessional, not even an apology or free donut. Looks like I'll hit up Dough Roller with my family next time. read more

Very nice to have a restaurant with a gluten-free menu. My daughter thought the gluten-free food was "ok". My omelet with shrimp/crab meat was delicious. We specifically asked if the oj had pulp in it, waitress said yes, and the oj did not have pulp. It had a lot going for it, but some things about it were pretty average. read more
