This place is a gem. The food is crazy fresh and delicious. We got a basic turkey sandwich (for the kid) and the "famous" chicken hoagie. Everything, from the French rolls, to the meats, to the chopped lettuce, and tomatoes, was very fresh and tasted excellent. The counter folks couldn't have been nicer. The hoagie sandwiches are mouth watering and just divine. Hoagies's has been around for a while and I see why. Their restaurant is in a strip mall, unassuming place. But don't let that fool you. Currently doing takeout but may resume outdoor dining with lifting of COVID restrictions. Employees are wearing masks. We tried out the BLT with avocado and their famous chicken hoagie. Both were quite good and flavorful. The garlic fries were pretty good too, but the garlic sauce does make them soggy. Might ask for it on the side next time. Depending on how hungry you are, a sandwich can be 1-2 meals! Well worth the money. Wait time isn't too bad, but if you're strapped for time then consider calling ahead. What really impressed me the most about this place was the incredible amount of self-serve pickles/peppers (literally a *dozen* varieties) that is made available to customers at the condiment bar - banana peppers, pickled onions, pickled cucumbers, pickled carrot slices, pickled cabbage, pickled turnips, etc. I'm a huge enthusiast of adding these sorts of things to my burgers/sandwiches, and I appreciated the fact that Lee's Hoagie House went the extra mile in making these available to their customers (I've never seen any other restaurant come close in this regard). I've only been here once but I thought the service was really good. My order was ready when they said it would be, and everyone was friendly and helpful when I went to pick it up. I had a spicy Italian and they meant spicy! I probably would order it regular next time, but it was good and extremely packed with meat. You know I have been coming to Lees since the early 80s. Sahahn or "Shawn" as people call him gives incredible friendly service. I used to know Shawn since the late 70s at Burger Continental on lake Ave near California in Pasadena. He was a Bus Boy then, but he learned service, value, customer satisfaction from the Hindoyan brothers who groomed him well. Now for 30 years Shawn has taken over and run this classic sandwitch shop into a favorite for Police, Fire, doctors, businessmen, and the rank and file. Now with Covid he adapted, and put his tables into the west parking lot where I now enjoy breakfast. I believe that this may be Pasadena oldest sandwich shop.
