A gluten-free treasure trove. Brings back those old-school feelings of walking into a bakery as a kid, slightly salivating. The folks working there are a delight. It's often busy with a line up outside, but it's a testament to their quality and the queue moves fairly quickly. Everything is good, some items are excellent. Particular highlights: Pastries: The best gluten-free croissants I've come across. Sublime cinnamon danishes. Breads: The baguettes! Sourdough loaf. Challah bread - only made on Fridays and goes quickly. Cakes: Most non-GF friends can't tell that the cakes are gluten-free - probably the biggest compliment one can give a GF bakery. The mousse cakes are excellent. The eponymous freshly squeezed lemonade is also worth a mention - just the right amount of tart and a perfect sip for a sunny stroll. read more

We stopped by here due to the excellent reviews on Yelp and boy were we surprised. Being a gluten free bakery, I wasn't expecting much but literally their treats were so tasty that I couldn't even tell that it didn't have any gluten in it! On our first visit, we got a cheese scone and it was so fresh and warm! I was gifted an 8" gluten free lemon birthday cake ...... so disappointing, could barely taste any lemon flavour and the cake was very dry which does not need to be ...... I bake gluten free cakes and have never had one that was dry ...... on the upside, the buttercream icing and decoration did taste good! Unfortunately I had a mixed experience here. I emailed a day prior to order a sliced sourdough bread. When I went to pick it up I had let the employee working at the front that I had placed an order for a sliced sourdough. She had said okay no problem, we're just about to slice it for you. I said great. I also purchased almond biscotti and a slice of lemon loaf. The lemon loaf and almond biscotti were to die for! I found the taste of the sourdough to be very bland; similar to regular bread. Later that day I received a phone call from Tracy (I think that was her name and she must own the bakery) asking if I was coming by to pick up my sourdough loaf. I let her know that I already came in and let the person at the front know I was picking up my order. She responded in a rude tone that she has a sliced sourdough waiting for me. This is one of our go to stops for grabbing gluten free baked goods. It is a small shop, with a glass display case to showcase what they all have in stock at the moment. They're always prompt and helpful when ordering. They have a wide variety of goods that are usually brought back throughout the week or daily, and I have noticed they have seasonal items as well. We are big fans of their gluten free bread, cookies, and cakes. They're by no means inexpensive but if you've ever been gluten intolerant you know that it is never the cheaper alternative to buy gluten free. I would also highly recommend their cream puffs they are amazing. We just wish they had more croissants throughout the day as we seem to miss them more than not due to work read more

I'm a celiac with lactose intolerance and an egg allergy, so any bakery that can feed me is a must-try on vacations. My partner eats most things. He also liked this bakery. We got cupcakes, which were very good, and he tried the cinnamon danish, which he loved. For me, though, it's all about the breads. I figured I could find a better option, so did some searching for gluten free bakeries and found this one. I was pretty shocked at the selection of items - there was quite a bit to choose from and everything was so beautifully presented that it made it really hard to make a decision! I ended up purchasing three different desserts (a Chocolate Caramel Silk Torte, a Mango something-or other, and a 3 layer chocolate something or other...sorry, it's been a couple of months since I was in!). All three of them were delicious, but the three layer chocolate mousse one was by far my favourite, and still has me drooling when I think of it. I'm not a gluten intolerant person but was on the hunt for a cake that was gluten free for someone who is gluten intolerant. Bought the mini versions to try before committing to a full size cake. Tried the following three items: Chocolate coconut cupcake - I think had shredded coconut in the actual cupcake so I didn't like the texture of it. Chocolate Sin - the best of the three but it's like a mouse and not cake. Mango cheesecake - didn't really taste like mangos and I feel like it had an artificial sweetener aftertaste. I'm vegan and have a pretty severe gluten allergy so I can't have many pastries, but I was so shocked and very excited that this place had so many things that I could eat, and that I didn't have to order them weeks in advance lol. The entire menu is gluten free and majority of it is at least vegetarian. I ordered a lot cause I was so excited: I got the banana loaf, sourdough loaf, raspberry tart, and candied pecans. Lemonade is a small bakery shop on Cambie Street, it bakes in organic quinoa, flours, use non GMO oil and etc. You would able to find daily breads, muffins, scones, cookies, savory breads, personal sized cakes and etc. I bought some cookies (Chocolate Almond Sparkle. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Quinoa Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin) and cakes, they are crunchy and favorable. However, I found it's a bit sweet for me. Lemonade happens to be near my bus stop, so I end up nipping in for an impulse sweet treat more than I should. Note that it is more of a takeaway-style bakery. There isn't room for any tables or seating in the interior, though they do sometimes set out a few chairs on the sidewalk. My favorite offering is the double chocolate cookie (called "Jo's cookie"?) that is pre-wrapped and located in a bowl on the counter. It is rich and moist, kind of like the top layer of a brownie. I have had less success with their cupcakes. I recently tried the chocolate coconut variety and aside from the bits of shaved coconut on top, it lacked the kind of coconutty flavor I was hoping for. The texture of the cake itself was also a bit grainy and not fully satisfying. Also, at $4 a pop, it's almost double the investment of one my cherished chocolate cookies. Note that due to the aforementioned lack of interior space, queues can quickly form, especially in the morning. The counter staff that I've dealt with have been very kind, but sometimes things don't move as quickly as one would hope. This isn't a deal breaker for me, it's just something to be mindful of if you're in a hurry. read more

Ordered a birthday day cake as I've done in the past and the cake was not what I expected. The owner was minimally accommodating. This might be a gluten free bakery but they have very little vegan options. They have weird food combinations like GF, but use GELATIN in the icing. The pancake mix they sell has xanthan gum which can also be a gut irritant. Very sweet and sugary items. I guess I'm spoiled now , I want low or no sugar (stevia) vegan and GF. I am currently still eating my Chocolate Caramel Silk Torte, but it was so damn good I had to come on here to review it! recently I found out that gluten and I are not friends and I was getting very tired of feeling like I was going to be stuck with freezer treats. low and behold, my partner found Lemonade. I was blessed by the holy spirit to receive a baguette, Lemon Meringue Tart, campfire cupcake and the above chocolate torte. that lemon meringue was GORGEOUS. both in appearance and flavour. and next I was hit with the chocolate torte. this dessert tastes the way a silk dress feels. I cannot rave about this place enough. We make sure to stop here anytime we are in Vancouver. We called ahead this time to make sure the two gluten free members of our family could have enough croissants for our entire ski trip. They had them ready for us when we came to pick them up. My only complaint is that it can get expensive (because we never only want one thing and nothing is inexpensive). Everything here is absolutely delicious. If there is something in particular you want to make sure they don't run out of, it can be smart to call ahead. We love it and we get so excited whenever we get to come here. read more

This is a friend's favourite bakery so I stopped in to grab some treats for a shared dinner. What a lovely shop. It is so clean and tidy and the displays are very cute. The staff were very kind and helpful. I chose a caramel salted tart and a silky chocolate caramel mini cake. Both were exceptional. We cut them into quarters and all four of us got a nice sized piece of each. I was particularly impressed by the crust on the tart. Even though I'm not gluten free I can see myself going back to this shop frequently. read more

Starting this off with i had very high expectations... LOW POINT : Cinnamon bun was too sweet and had an almost alcohol like taste, maybe too much vanilla extract? Seriously bummed. You cant imagine how bummed. Worst cinnamon bun iv ever had. HIGH POINT: Rhubarb crostata was simply delightful. Crumbly, sweet tender rhubarb pieces. Tasted very traditional despite being gluten free (very impressed) I definitely will go back and order more because the staff was friendly and there was a huge line with an equally huge menu (which is very rare at gluten free places). I will add more to my revue then and perhaps adjust the stars. I am giving 2 stars just because one thing was absolutely horrible and then the other was great. I cant recommend a place based on that. 2 years later and many, many visits since I first reviewed this place and I'm really craving the 1/2 star option to make this 4.5. Wow are they good, they just bring gluten free to another level. I don't "need" to eat gluten free but do feel better for it,.. but these items (especially desserts), just taste slightly different,.. not worse like most GF,.. you could easily food people and noone would know. For the love of god, open some more of these around the city,.. build it and people will come. Make the place to sit an eat there even more appealing and you'd be laughing! read more

The man at the counter who took our order was very nice and friendly. He recommended some of their foods and some gluten free restaurants for dinner that were near by. He also answered all the questions I had about their food, which was very helpful. The lemon Loaf had a nice flavor, but was gritty. If I had to compare it to anything, it almost had a soft corn bread texture. Not too gritty, but gritty enough. It was also a bit dry. The triple chocolate mousse was presented very nicely. It was also good. The white chocolate is very soft, the milk is soft, and the dark chocolate is almost tart-like. It wasn't anything Id say "Wow! That's amazing!", and I wouldn't necessarily get it again. It was a nice little treat, but I thought $6.50 was a tad too expensive. read more

Drove all the way out from Abbotsford for bread because the website says it is open. Got here after a very stressful long drive only to find that they will be closed from November 1st -9th. Waisted a lot of time and gas money to come all the way out here. Would have come next week if the hours were properly updated online. Will not be coming back unfortunately. I LOVE it here. I hope individuals who don't adhere to a GF diet don't think twice about this place simply because it is a GF bakery. You honestly wont be able to tell the difference to other bakeries. I personally, as someone who has celiac disease, wish there were more bakeries like this one. Their display is filled with attractive looking desserts with a great variety. I had the apple and rhubarb crostata, $4.20 after tax. I was surprised at how much filling there was, and it had the perfect level of sweetness. Another thing is the location. I love that it's in a busy area. I can conveniently get a good coffee from JJ Bean next door to go with what ever i purchase. Lastly, I live in Richmond, and there's barely any GF options around here. So, I don't mind the commute if I want a decent treat every once in awhile (but it would be awesome if they opened another location!). read more

I just finished a piece of the chocolate "campfire cake", and WOW... It was sooo delicious. I also picked up a loaf of sourdough and a lemon loaf today, and both were ultra YUM. I am SO happy I found this place. 5 stars all around! Very friendly staff! Whether you adhere to a gluten free diet or not, you must try this place! Oh, and the cookies are great as well! Who woulda thunk. A carb addict awarding 5 stars to a gluten-free bakery. It's sort of kinda crazy. In the name of all that is good about gluten-based gluttony, let me explain how I ended up here: 1) I needed a quick bite. 2) I just happened to be walking down Cambie. 3) I was lured in by the sunny yellow facade before I realized it was GF. Not one to be rude and march right back out, I decided to give it a shot. I took a deep breath & ordered a muffin. I'm not known to pay $3 for a muffin but it was worth it. That golden raisin + ginger + carrot muffin was the BEST muffin I have ever had. I don't toss around the word "best" willy-nilly unless it's deserved. This one does. It conjured up adjectives I have never, ever used to describe any of my previous muffin experiences: crumb was pillowy, textures were contrasting and balanced, flavours were bomb. My friend bought their tiramisu cake once & I swear...it's better than the real deal. If I ever had to GF, I just might go on an all-sugar diet so I can indulge here on the regular. read more

Personally, I am not lactose intolerant or anything related to that matter but I have tried pretty looking gluten free pastries/bread before with high hopes only to end up with big disappointment. So I honestly didn't expect much and hesitated walking into Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery but oh my God, I am SOoOo glad I did. What kind of sorcery is this?! How do they manage to substitute in gluten-free/dairy-free ingredients and still be able to keep the same moistness, texture and taste of a regular pastry with gluten in it? So far, I have tried the Carrot Orange muffin ($3), Raspberry Chocolate Pecan muffin ($3), Cinnamon Raisin loaf ($7.50), and Oatmeal Raisin cookie ($0.90). Both of the muffins were SOO deliciously moist with a perfectly baked crunchy top, the Raspberry Chocolate Pecan was definitely a winner. I bought their Cinnamon Raisin loaf at around 10am on a Saturday and it was still warm. I tried it immediately after I got home and it was just sooo good. Moist on the inside with a thin crunchy crust all around, all the flavours were there yet it was not too sweet - I couldn't have asked for more. The Oatmeal Raisin cookie however, was nothing too special (maybe cause its GF afterall), there wasn't much flavour/texture to the cookie. It was a decent GF cookie but the flavours were just not as harmonious as the other pastries that I have tried. Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery is definitely worth trying.
