Wife & I took the MIL here on Saturday night to celebrate Mother's Day. We had reservations, but they really weren't needed, as the café was definitely not full. We started with wine and appetizers - Tofu Puffs and Curry Crab Firecrackers. The cilantro-jalapeno dipping sauce for the crab was definitely the star - flavorful with good jalapeno taste but no "over the top" spicy kick. Two of us chose the seared scallops/ grilled shrimp entrée while the other had the pepper tuna steak. The scallops were moist and sweet, the shrimp were nicely grilled and the tuna was a perfect medium rare. The accompanying vegetables and sauces were quite tasty and complemented the seafood. All-in-all we had a very pleasant experience. The café is clean with a modern feel and nice background music. We were able to converse in a normal voice without trouble. We're from Sugar Land and don't get into Bellaire often - but you can be sure we will be back! read more

I was so disappointed in Lemongrass today. They have a check in special on Four Square but they told me that are not honoring it anymore.. What a great impression they left on me and my guest!!! I ordered the organic salad and added chicken to it. The online menu states that the extra chicken was $3.00. When I got there the chicken was an extra $4.00. When I disputed the price that they advertised online, the manager said, "That is our old price and hasn't been that way for 2 years. Sorry. It's the extra $4.00." My co-worker also ordered a salad and added shrimp, also for $3.00. He was charged an extra $6.00. The food was tasty, but the portions were tiny. He got 3 shrimp and I got 3 strips of chicken about 1/4 of an inch thick and 3 inches long. He ordered extra dressing, but was not given any. I will not be going back. Even though the flavor was right on, the prices, portions and service was unacceptable! I have never paid $11 for a salad worth less than $5! read more

I love lemongrass, so I tried lemongrass with a friend. I cannot remember what I ordered except that it was yummy. Ha! My friend ordered the mushroom soup. When my food was at the table, we were anticipating her soup. The soup was a mushroom consomme with a single mushroom ravioli, her facial expression, unforgettable!! I have been wanting to check this place out and am so glad I did!! The happy hour is amazing, but more importantly, the customer service I received was fabulous! I'm currently between moves and staying in Spring after working in Bellaire, so Wednesday evening, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to check out Lemongrass Cafe. Besides the food and drinks being terrific, I had the best service from Amy. She was very personable and engaging. I had such a good experience, I was back tonight, waiting out traffic. Amy was so sweet, once I sat down, she recognized me and asked if I wanted the same drink I had on Wednesday. After that, she was very helpful in making suggestions from the menu! This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants - romantic, quiet, pretty, with impeccable service and consistently wonderful Asian fusion fare. The menu is not extensive, but they do perfectly each dish on offer. Tonight, for a quiet New Year's Eve, we started with their wonderful little onion rolls then devoured savory dumplings and edamame. My butter-sautéed rainbow trout was tender, with bright notes from capers; it paired perfectly with succulent Brussels sprouts, fingerling potatoes, and asparagus. My husband's shrimp and scallops were also delicious. A beautifully pulled cappuccino to finish, with a ginger creme brûlée for me (the fresh fruit cuts through that perfectly smooth gingery custard) and a pretty little molten chocolate cake for him. Pretty good place if you want some Thai food with finesse, good place for a date night or going out with friends. Chicken curry was awesome and banh mi was full of flavor, but the one dish I was completely surprised about was the pad thai. The noodles was wrapped in a egg crepe, my mind was blownnnnn. Love coming here for a nice lunch. Employees are great and food is always good. I have taken my out of town friends to this place and they have loved it! My husband and I just love this place and today was no exception. We decided to come for our 25th wedding anniversary to the one place we knew would satisfy both visually and in taste. The food did not disappoint and the service was impeccable. Today's special was a pork chop with a pineapple hanero sauce and I had the scallop-shrimp dinner. The appetizer was the crab firecrackers. Delicious food, great service, and affordable lunches. What more is there to say. Everything I have tried is beyond Delicious, with perhaps the exception of the soups. They tend to be saltier than my taste. But seriously, everything is good. I mostly go for lunch though so I'm not sure about the dinner experience. It is little on the expensive side, but still yummy. Would recommend for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Have been coming to this restaurant several times a month for years. The food is consistently excellent. It's hard to identify favorites but the tuna tartare and shrimp appetizers are our go to items to start. I went with my father for dinner during happy hour. He had a Japanese beer for an incredibly low price that he ended up enjoying. I had the chicken Milanese for dinner, which was superb. It was a very thin, crusted piece of chicken with sesame seeds that came with a delightful white wine cream sauce. The fruit based salad that came with the dish was OK. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert, which was an excellent choice! When my dad went to order his dessert, however, they did not have either of his top two choices. read more

My first review! As a foodie, I can't let this experience rest. What a terrible experience my friends and I had last night at Lemongrass! We go there for a GNO every 6 weeks or so for a ok bottle of wine and good food in a lowkeyed neighbor sitting....ALthough the food, wine and atmosphere were good and expected, the service was the very worse! For me good service is essential for the whole dining experience! The place was empty when we came in and never got more than 30% filled. Now I understand why...Our waitress was like the deer in the headlights...she just had no clue what to do! I had to serve my friends the wine, request hot rolls not the cold stale ones that were served to us., request water silverware etc, explain the bill. I started to go here when it first open. I do like the food but this service was the very worse without being rude. They just don't get it. I really want a place to go in the Bellaire area but never here again. read more

The boyfriend and I decided to be spontaneous and try out this place that was out of our comfort area. We are always trying out new places, and this was in an area where we never really go. We ate here on 4/5/14 and our first impression of the restaurant was, "wow! this place is trendy and their wall colors and decorations resembles the name of the place, Lemongrass." For starters, they have complimentary bread and olive dip which the bread was good. We ordered the curry crab firecracker appetizer sticks and those were good. We also order their special they offered that day which consisted of two types of mushrooms, long corns, broccoli snow peas, scallops, shrimps in a wonton noodle shape bowl. This dish was superb. They were not stingy with their shrimps or scallops and gave us a good amount and love that it had a different variety of veggies. Our other dish we ordered was the only curry they had on the menu. I do not remember the name of it on top of my head, but it is the only curry with roti canai that they serve and I wanted to try it since a yelp reviewer, Tommi L said, "it was out of the world." She wasn't lying when she said that! It seriously was on top of the world and tasted so pretty. It tasted like it had a hint of herbal lavender. For dessert, we ordered their assortments of fruits which had pears, strawberries, kiwi, mangoes, blueberries, and raspberries. As for the customer service, it was excellent! We're not sure if they were short staffed that day or there really is just one waiter (the lady), but regardless she was attentive and always asked how we were doing and if we enjoyed our food. I tried out this place because it had good reviews and nearby my house. The food tasted pretty good. However, we were extremely disappointed with all the add on fees and service. I ordered a curry and all it came with was a few pieces of naan bread. My boyfriend ordered the Cashew Chicken type dish that didn't have chicken in it. Instead the "meat" ingredient was tofu. He asked for a substitution because he wanted actual chicken in his cashew chicken. They agreed but charged us I believe $4 for the substitution. That was the charge to add chicken to a meal. I don't think they should have charged us extra to sub something out. I understand charging extra for seafood or adding ingredients but it was just silly. I think this is ridiculous because chicken most likely cost a lot less than their meat substitute. And to add insult to injury his dish had no rice that came with it. It was a bowl of veggies and chicken... I understand it is a fusion place and the chef has their right to do whatever they want with the menu. However it IS an asian place and how is rice not standard? They charged $3 for a small bowl of white rice. Unless they picked the rice fresh from the fields or was some fancy type of rice that had saffron in it, this seemed more than a tad ridiculous. Overall it was pretty expensive for Asian food in general before all the add ons increased the the final tab for a simple meal. I was highly disappointed with the whole experience and would never go there again. We felt nickled and dimed by the time we left. read more

No, just no. This place is not worth my time. First of all, the service was kind of slow. Second they bring these weirdo bread things that have no taste--OVER IT. My mom ordered the pad thai which was pretty tasteless. My hubby and I split a massaman curry which I thought was good as well as the roti, but I don't understand why it didn't come with rice. So then we had to order that separately. We also ordered the sautéed snow peas and they were disgusting. They tasted burnt and smelled terrible. We sent them back. This place isn't horrible but it's just not worth going to in my opinion. read more

We've been to Lemongrass Cafe a few times and had fairly consistent, good food. Tonight we ordered dumplings which were good and then the rib eye steak. I really don't know how you can mess up a rib eye, but it was almost inedible. We told the waitress that we really didn't like it and she said, "I'm sorry." If she had brought something else, we might someday go back, but she didn't. It was bad. I ate two bites of the $22 steak. So I was disappointed with the cooking and the service.
