Typical coney island style place. Seat yourself, large menus with a lot of variety in food options. The staff is friendly whenever ever we go and the service is normally pretty fast. I normally get either breakfast or a club and the food is delicious every time. I highly recommend the club sandwich. My only complaint is they use a lot of lettuce, but its the freshest lettuce I ever get at restaurants, so no complaints. read more

I was so very disappointed today eating lunch at the Westland Leo's. My bf and I eat here frequently. I ordered the special Salmon Patty sandwich and it was so fishy and nauseating I lost my appetite. Possibly the patty was not fresh. I ate several bites and just couldn't do it. When I told the waitress I was nauseous and didn't want anything else, the manager told her to box up the smelly food and charge us. I sad and confused by being treated so shabbily. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal because it's just cheese. However, if someone orders a a burger and you do not have sliced cheese, do not assume that everybody is ok with shredded cheese on their sandwich. I go to Leo's various locations often because I like the freshness of the food, the variety and love their soups/ salads. This location was on my way home to Dearborn from a healthcare house call I had made. This location is very welcoming in their decor and they play awesome music too! I found myself bopping and eventually humming because I was so happy with my meal choice. I noticed another diner was also bopping along across the aisle. I had a cup of chicken noodle soup which always hits the spot, it's full of carrot, onion and celery pieces plus hearty egg noodles- something in every spoonful. I tried the hummus and meat special, chicken or gyro meat, which comes with tomatoes, onions (I asked for them to be grilled) , a grilled pita. I was surprised that I also got some nice cucumber slices, the tomatoes were 'grape' sized and they had great flavor for being out of season. I also got tzatziki sauce, which like the hummus, is homemade and the best I've ever tasted. It was full of shredded/ julienned cucumber which I found I was eating like a cucumber salad at times. It was cool and creamy and everything in this meal had a great compliment of flavor to the other items. This location also has a beverage cooler with a large variety of bottled: pop, Snapple teas, Gatorade, juices, etc The register frontage and nearby counter is like a candy store with all sorts of treats for the way out! I bought a Big rice krispy treat for $3.00 to enjoy later. My meal had just the right portion of everything that I was full when I left. So delicious. And my server, I should have asked her name darn it, was lovely: friendly, timely with food delivery, complimented my grilled onion request, "That's a good idea!" and I never felt rushed even though the restaurant was closing soon. And with such a wide array of desserts, you're likely to find a new favorite! The banana pudding is surprisingly good (complete with vanilla wafers!). Horrible!!!! Ordered a salad with lettuce, grilled chicken and cucumber. That's it. It was not edible. The chicken smelled and looked weird and must have been days old. This is the best restaurant in Westland it's so good and the bacon is so crispy and the white toast is very good it's not overly buttered and the staff is so nice and there is a lot variety in their menu and it's pretty cheap and the indoor area is so nice and there chicken wings were very crispy .it also has restroom .the pancakes were so soft and airy and the maple syrup made the taste of it even better. I just ordered from there about 20 mins before they closed and I asked for ranch with my grilled chicken salad i get my order and notice it was italian dressing so i called to complain and the worker there tells me I can come tomorrow because they were closing and proceeds to say that she took my order and doesn't believe she put Italian instead of ranch dressing but clearly it was in my bad and then she rudely says that dressing is complimentary ugh this Leo's is trash i'll never order from this place again. My hot dog was so tough that it couldn't be cut with a fork, and old wrinkled soggy buns and old fries. This Coney Island is pretty close to my house so that's the only reason I go to eat there. However this will be my last time EVER considering dining at this restaurant again after the rude and unprofessional interaction I just had with an employee that told me I can go to another place and order because I asked them why is a full order of pancakes only served with 3 and a half order is served with 2 pancakes.... Despite the obvious rip off, I was more upset with the fact that the server/cashier basically told me to take my business elsewhere. I just hung up the phone because I didn't know what I was going to say next to them. Smh it's a shame how terrible customer service is nowadays but I guess that's why more people choose to eat at home. read more

This was one of those stops that was unplanned. I had started out intending to go to Lee's Chicken until I found out they didn't have a place to sit down inside to eat. Then I thought I would go to a place on Wayne Road but while driving there I passed by this Leo's and remembered I had wanted to try it out so I turned in instead of going to the other place. I was disappointed they didn't have Whitefish and found out at the end that none of the Leo's do anymore. I was sure that when I was at a Leo's five years ago, last time I was in town, that I had gotten Whitefish there. So either they used to and no longer do, or I remembered wrong where I had gotten it. After considering two or three dinners, the fried chicken, a chicken kabob dinner, or spinach pie, I decided at the last minute to try the goulash on the waitress's recommendation. I was really glad I did. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be because I couldn't really remember what goulash was specifically. It was a good-sized platter of thick corkscrew noodles with a delicious tomato and beef sauce mixed with green peppers and onions. It tasted like something my mother would have made, which made it the ultimate comfort food. It's a shame there was only one piece of garlic bread because it was one of the best garlic breads I ever ate. If I get something with garlic bread in the future at this location I think I will order extra. Dinner ended up being about $10 with tax and tip. I ate the whole thing even though I was getting full because it tasted so good. I left happy. Service was good, prices were reasonable, the place was extremely clean looking, attractively decorated for the holidays and brightly lit. Everyone was pleasant. read more

My favorite Coney Island. You don't know what you have until it's gone. We moved away and they do not have Coney islands as we know them, if any at all. They have diners... and most of them are slimy, dingy gross little spots.. UNLIKE Leo's Coney Islands as a whole. This is my favorite Leo's out of the few I have been to. It is clean, bright, and the food quality is always good. I had a great club sandwich and chili fries, of course. Michigan (oh yes they do not fix chili this way any where else out of Michigan) chili fries taste pretty much the same every where in different degrees of yum. They are good here. They have great Greek salads and serve Saganoki with the traditional OPA! although not as enthusiastic as downtown (we can't have everything. hehe) My absolute favorite is the rice pudding. I know.. rice pudding? No really. They make it themselves. Color me Elderly if you want for ordering this but it is awesome. I get extra cinnimon, of which I get on the side, have them warm up the rice pudding, and then have them serve it with the whipped cream on the side. That with some coffee? = YUMFEST! Love it! Ok if you are not with me on the rice pudding at least you know this place, if you want to just get your informal breakfast/sandwich in a decent clean place that is not a dive in any sense.. you know where to go. *Escape clause: I did not try the coney dogs lately. All us Michigan people have our favorite spot so me telling you about their dogs wouldn't help you anyways. Nice waitresses that are clean and always around. Bottom Line; Best Leo's of the bunch. Tonight, 1/17/20, the person answering the phone for a carry out order was obviously new to this, as they usually recognize us and complete our order right away. This guy took like 5 minutes to comprehend the order. We bring our carry out order home, and there is no tartar sauce for the cod dinner. That is like french fries with no ketchup. The food feels very commercial and highly processed here, and I am not fond of the ingredients they appear to use in many of their dishes. That being said, the service is usually pretty good and the food does come really quick in most cases. I usually enjoy the atmosphere as well. We have always had a great experience at this Leo's. For our Easter dinner, we decided to have a little different experience by having spinach pie. They provided a beautiful uncooked pie for us to cook at home. The manager was so helpful and provided a cookie sheet full of spinach pie on Saturday. We often eat there or order take out. I will never eat at this establishment again. My server and another lady omitted greeting me, not even a simple hello. My server also neglected to introduce herself and was very rude and impatient. The server I believe was kaylee, but like I mentioned Above she didn't introduce herself. So my server decides to greet a family behind me, saying hi how are you and smiling of course. Unfortunately today was another day of inconsistency. I ordered the basic eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. I asked to have onions mixed into the hash browns, they were cooked separately and placed on top. I asked that the eggs be placed on the hash browns, like a skillet breakfast, they were on the side. The hash browns were over cooked for my liking but perfect for my wife who wasn't with me. The bacon was over cooked and again perfect for my wife. I asked for the toast to have butter over the entire surface not just a dab in the middle, you guessed it they couldn't even get this right. Can anybody proudly recommend a good breakfast place in the area? Breakfast appears to be a challenge here for at least one of the cooks on staff. Pedro, a medium height 29 something with shaved side of head and hair on top. Today was the absolute worst example of an employee not caring or working for their paycheck. My bacon tasted as if it was left over from yesterday, rubbery and not hot. My main dish was the number 5 which is two breakfast sandwiches with egg sausage and cheese on muffin topped with sausage gravy. I asked for the gravy to be hot. Silly request I know, but I do know you must ask. It wasn't, so I sent it back. He tossed the plate in the microwave and reheated the entire dish which caused the cheese to turn into a cheese sauce and made the entire plate appear greasy from the grease of the meat floating in the gravy. I will go back if Pedro is not cooking. I will call first and ask if he is on the line and then decide on destination. We noticed a customer bringing back a carry out that is supposedly checked by the cashier or manager before going out the door. They had his correct order on counter. Then wanted to charge him more for the other order even though he was inconvenienced for the travel and the fact that his food was probably cold when he came back. As for us my wife ordered an omelet much to my dismay with well done hash browns. The omelet came out dry as usual and the hash browns cooked as normal, not as requested by the wife. She sent them back with the waitress. Then the owner came out explaining that they will take awhile, my wife said okay and away they went. The plate returned a short while later with a nice crisp on the topside by still not browned on the bottom. So I took them back to the kitchen asking for them to please cook both sides. Eventually they returned without any apologies from waitress or owner. As we were leaving the owner came up explaining that well done is hard to do on a busy day, my wife, who never complains said that she didn't mind waiting. That she understood asking for something to be cooked more would take more time and that they should serve it that way the first time, not on the third attempt. Then I laughed and said that they don't seem to have any problem serving over cooked omelets. We left and I asked her what sent her over the edge as she never complains. She replied, they never threw the food away that was returned when we sat down. They opened the boxes then redistributed to other orders. THIS was against ALL food service guidelines.
