Can you ever go wrong with Levain? Don't answer, it's rhetorical. My brother dropped by with a surprise box of cookies which made my day. Honestly one of the best cookies in town and always so consistent with quality and taste. I try to bake at home but can never get it down like levain. You are not living life if you never had a levain cookie
I stopped by Levain Bakery on a Saturday morning, and while finding street parking can be a bit of a challenge. Here's a helpful tip: The bank next door allows 10 minutes of parking if you use their ATM and keep your receipt. There is security in the lot, so be sure to have your receipt as proof of the time. It's more than enough time to run next door and grab your treats. I ordered a slice of the lemon loaf, a gluten-free cookie, and the classic chocolate chip cookie. The lemon loaf slice is huge, I'd say it's the equivalent of two slices, so it's definitely big enough to share. As for the cookies, Levain is known for making them thick and rich. A small piece goes a long way, making them perfect for savoring over a couple of days (if you have that much self-control!). The moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the incredible aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the service was warm and welcoming. I truly think everyone should experience a Levain cookie or pastry at least once. It's worth the visit!
Levain Bakery has the best cookies in LA! My go to is the walnut chocolate shop cookie. They now have the option for vanilla ice cream with a cookie, and it was the perfect dessert. Gooey, buttery cookie with great texture. The staff is friendly and smells inside the shop are amazing. I know they started in NY but until I find a better cookie, Levain is the best for cookies in LA!
Love the cookies here however, the Mother's Day special cookie tin for $17? No cookies just the tin. Congratulations. You bought an empty metal container. Lucky that I asked, the customer next to me also asked. We agreed that they should change the sign and make it more clear..no cookies just the empty tin. The girl that were helping me, look tired when she answered, just a tin no cookies. Poor her. Must have been giving the same answered for the 47th times today. .
f you're in LA, Levain Bakery is a MUST stop!!! Their cookies are HUGE, thick, and perfectly baked with that crisp outside and soft inside. But let me tell you... the oatmeal cookie is on another level. It's rich, buttery, and packed with so much aroma. The chocolate chip cookie was rich and crispy. Pro tip: microwave it for at least 30 seconds. It completely transforms the cookie--warm, melty, and almost like it just came fresh out of the oven. The oats were warm and satisfying. Definitely one of the best cookies I've had in LA. Worth the hype!
If you're looking for a good chocolate chip cookie look no further. This place is amazing! Right when you open the door the fresh smell of the cookies is INTENSE and very fragrant. The cookies are large and thick and filled with a LOT of chocolate chips. The service was top notch, quick and easy. We ended up getting the two chip chocolate chip (love the name) and the dark chocolate chocolate chip but they have a ton of other flavors. Will definitely be coming back to taste the others that they have! Side notes: the packaging is so cute and aesthetic and did someone say free postcard?
Yesterday afternoon, I ordered a chocolate chip walnut cookie. There were two cashiers inside. I noticed that there were photographs on one wall. There were a couple blue benches outside. I was directed to pay with card or pay with my phone. I wasn't sure if they took cash. My cookie was ready in less than a minute. The cashier said thank you to let me know it was on the top of the display case since I didn't notice. The cookie itself was crunchy and chocolatey. It's pretty big and I love how many chocolate chips and walnuts were inside. There were a bunch of cookies in a display case with the names of each kind. It was $6 for the cookie.
I'm a baker and cookies are also my specialty so with that said, I am very judgemental of cookies. You won't catch me at a Crumbl (my apologies if you're a fan). I was curious about Levain. Often times when something like this gets the hype, it's usually just that, hype. I'm a sucker for cookbooks, so I grabbed one of theirs. It's more of their story and a couple of recipes sprinkled through out. What I was most curious about was the thickness of their cookies. It's a skill to be able to keep the outside of the cookie at just the right about of crunch in order to cook the middle. Most people overcook the outside to make sure the inside is cooked or vice versa where the outside is perfect and the inside is undercooked. Levain got it right. It wasn't dry. It wasn't undercooked. Just right. I'm not sure if their flavors rotate but that day I bought choc chip walnut, double choc chip, lemon, caramel coconut. My favorites were choc chip walnut & caramel cookie. Which is a shocker because I'm not really a fan of chocolate chips and I never reach for caramel as my first option. The flavors were balanced. Not one flavoring overpowering the other. We ate the cookies before I could get a picture of each one. The inside is small. But the line moved quick. The employees were nice and helpful.
This store is big & clean. They had a small line, but it moved quickly. I ordered 3 cookies- dark chocolate chocolate chip, caramel coconut chocolate chip, & white chocolate macadamia. Their cookies come thick & dense. I love to eat them warm or with ice cream. Sometimes eating a whole one is too sweet for me so I'll eat half at a time. Parking- street metered parking
Nice storefront on Larchmont Blvd! Parking is tricky, so keep that in mind. The interior is very spacious, well decorated, and gives you a clear view of the goods on display and a view of the back where the magic happens. The service here has always been very friendly every time I've gone which adds to the experience. They serve a nice variety of pastries that are all very high quality. Their chocolate chip walnut & rocky road cookies are to DIE FOR, especially when warmed up!! I'd recommend their muffins as well if you want to switch things up. My only gripe would be that their ice cream sandwiches look amazing at first, but fall apart the second you try to take a bite. The euphoria of eating a well constructed ice cream sandwich is unmatched, so I'd be curious if they could improve upon how they serve them to enhance the experience. Nonetheless, this place is legit and I'd wager their goods are worth the price tag as a special treat every once in a while. Bonus tip, the pastries here are quite the crowd pleaser at parties and gatherings, people will LOVE you if you show up with a batch of these bad boys. Thank me later!!
Sometimes all you need is a really gooey, thick, warm cookie to brighten up your day. Levain bakery is absolutely the place for that. I ordered the classic chocolate walnut and tried the coffee toffee, and both were incredible. It's exactly what you hope for when you come here. Service was quick and friendly, and the shop itself has a cozy, welcoming vibe. Parking can be a little tough in the Larchmont area, but they have a parking lot right next to the building. Left very happy and already thinking about my next cookie run.
WHEN: Sun @6:15pm This was next door to our dinner spot, and I figure since we didn't have any of their cookies during our NYC trip, it wouldn't hurt to have just one since we are here. TWO-CHIP CHOCOLATE CHIP - $5.75 Oh boy, it was warm! It had a nice toasty outer and gooey wariness towards the center. This cookie is thick and plenty of chocolate chips. I'm so glad I got this! The shop was lovely with limited seating outside, and while service was a bit slow, the quality in the cookie makes it all worth it.

levain cookies are top tier to me. the first time i had it in new york, it was life changing. right when you walk in, you get hit with the smells of freshly baked cookies. I finally got to try the famous Levains!!! I got the Lemon Cookie, Butter and Jam Baguette, Brown Sugar Brioche, and of course, the famous Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie! The cookies were phenomenal. The lemon was so moist and had cream inside: The chocolate chip walnut was good, but when I got home and airfried it, it was EVEN BETTER! I wish they served their goods warm (or maybe they do if you ask? i dont know) Overall, I had to try this staple. Levain bakery, opened, I believe, last year after being a, primarily, New York staple, has been met with open arms, as can be seen with the lines in the evenings and on the weekends. Been here multiple times, service is very friendly, though how long it takes to get your order depends on the length of the line (expected). The chocolate chip walnut is their signature cookie and definitely stands out with the crunch of the walnut, the crispiness on the outside and the softness inside with the melty chocolate chips. Another good option is the two chip chocolate chip, which can be a little overly sweet but it's tasty. The lemon cookie was more of a miss for me as I didn't really love the chips in it. This place came highly recommended by a coworker of mine and I was excited to see the hype. I took a drive Saturday afternoon and I can see the place is pretty popular had a good 10 people in line and line was almost out the door. The line moved pretty fast so I was in and out in less than 10 mins. I ordered the two chip, walnut, and dark chocolate chip and took it to go. I got 5 cookies and paid almost 30$. The prices are a little crazy for a cookie they're priced at around 5.50 a cookie and no bundle discount. The cookies unfortunately were not great at all the hype was a big let down. The dark chocolate cookie didn't even taste like a cookie tasted like granulated sugar and dark fudge. The two chip was not horrible but every cookie needs about a gallon of milk because it's so sweet. The cookie in my opinion was just too much. I can say the best thing about it is the cookie has a nice crunch on the outside and a soft center. Would go back to try other things but not the cookies I'd like to see what other baked goodies they got. read more
Haven't had Levain's in over 10 years and I remember why I don't miss it. Cookies were overly sweet and the texture of the cookie was meh.... The place was at least clean and had a nice NYC type decor. I did it! I finally made it to Levain. I admit, hearing about the long lines deterred me, but I finally convinced myself to head out early on a Sunday at get there when they opened. Based in NYC, Levain Bakery is famous for their thick & gooey cookies, which weigh about 6 ounces each. The Larchmont location is bright, airy & spacious. In addition to their world-famous cookies, they also sell bread, coffee cakes, scones, muffins, and other baked treats. I ordered the Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip & Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip. The cookies are $5 each but are worth it because they are massive - like a hockey puck. Each one is stuffed with chocolate chips. The top of the cookies are crunchy and the centers are soft & chewy. They were even better when warmed up because the chips melted and created a rich center of deliciousness. The Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip had a buttery caramel flavor and a nice crunch from the toasted coconut. The Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip reminded me of the ones I'd make as a kid from the recipe on the back on the Nestle Peanut Butter Chip bag only better! It definitely brought back happy memories of childhood. Levain cookies are dangerous because you can't stop eating them. One of my childhood friends frequents NY and Levain Bakery's been a staple in her family! Shes so very ecstatic about one opening locally! Or at least closer than catchin' a flight! Now my friend knows I'm not the biggest dessert fan but she also knows I end up experiencing them because my crew loves desserts, so she brought me here! My niece Inaya really enjoys the Chocolate Peppermint cookie, I'll second her on that! They're delicious, rich and as my friend would put it all "Levain cookies are decadent." ;) I'm not the fan of the Chocolate Chip Wanut but it's very popular so try it! This bakery smells so delicious, it takes everything in me to pass by it whenever I'm on Larchmont st and not stop in. Literally everything looks and smells amazing. The workers are so friendly and I can tell they care a lot about their baked goods which definitely adds to the flavor. I got a fall flavored cookie which was very large and very delicious. Welcome Levain, LA is so lucky to have you! I used to live in NYC and Levain was seriously a delicious treat I rewarded myself with from time to time. When I heard it was coming to LA, I was ecstatic. Not surprisingly, the quality of the cookies was excellent and it brought back so many good memories of NYC. I ordered two of pretty much all of the cookies they have (chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, and two chip chocolate chip - my personal fave) and tried their brioche for the first time (one with chocolate chips and a cinnamon). Personally, I preferred the cinnamon brioche. Expect your typical Larchmont parking. There was no line when I walked in, but it was on a weekday. read more

Cookies are simply delicious. Yes they are pricey but the cookies are a good value when you consider the size and the fact that they are hand made with fresh ingredients. These are definitely artisan and well worth the wait in line and the price. The lemon cookie they have this month is something close to heaven. Wonderful lemony flavor. Actually a bit disappointed. The shop smelled amazing when I entered, like I just landed in the middle of a chocolate chip cookie. We got the coconut Carmel cookie, the lemon cookie, the chocolate chip cookie, the cinnamon brioche and chocolate chip brioche. We topped the order off with the blueberry muffin. We didn't really like any of the bread pastries. Just our preference probably since there are so many good reviews. It was just a little dry for me and not as much flavor as I would have liked. The cookies were better but still not my favorite. Just a little dry. Nice wait staff though. read more

I would give this location 3.5 stars. This is my favorite cookie place in Manhattan so you can imagine my excitement when I found out one opened in LA. It's located in Larchmont Village so there are cute shops nearby. There is metered street parking and parking in the residential area one street over is free but make sure you look at the parking signs. The size of this location is larger than the ones in Manhattan. The selection is the same as Manhattan as well. There have been some new flavor additions since the last time I went so it was nice to see a lemon cookie and a caramel coconut one. I decided to try the 2 new flavors and my old favorite which is the chocolate walnut. I also got the cinnamon brioche as I have not tried their bread before. The brioche is very dense vs light and fluffy so very different from what I was expecting. If you like a dense crumb with an eggy flavor, you'll like the brioche but it wasn't for me. I heated the chocolate walnut cookie in the air fryer for a few minutes to get it nice and warm. The outside of the cookie was crunchy like I was used to but the inside was very undercooked and tasted raw. The cookie from Manhattan is typically slightly undercooked in the middle but still has a chew. For me, I'll continue to order the cookies from Manhattan. read more

Lovely clean shop with friendly staff. Large selection and pricing is reasonable. Summary: nice flavor with great crunch, but most were underbaked and on the sweet side. Oatmeal raisin - good flavor, slightly underbaked Chocolate chip - loaded with melty chocolate bits, crunchy exterior Chocolate chocolate chip - think fudge brownie... rich Chocolate chip walnut - nice balance of nuts and melty chocolate chips, crunchy exterior Lemon white chocolate (today's special) - nice lemon flavor, but it didn't need the white chocolate. It was too sweet Chocolate peanut butter chip - similar fudge brownie but with peanut butter chips. Rich... Used to live near Larchmont so we go to this area a lot before so when I was back in LA last Saturday I decided to stop by to check out what's new. Parking here is hard but if it's meant to be - you'll get a spot right away (lucky me). So walked around and saw this place - looked busy and had a small line when I peeked in. What drew me in is the scent of fresh baked cookies and bread. Smelled sooo good. Was in line for a bit and it's nice that you can see the baked goods through the glass window. When I approached the counter I asked for recommendation and he told me to order any of their main cookies. I ordered the chocolate chip, the dark chocolate and the double chip cookies. I also had a latte. Drink was good just right temp and flavor. I didn't eat the cookies until drove home and didn't realize how big they are. It held up well and can easily be reheated. Would recommend if you're into cookies/ muffins and pastries. Would try the muffins and brioche if I find myself back here again. read more

When my sister was living in NYC years ago, she'd FedEx us Levain's. In fact, we had too many and so I place a few in the freezer and forgot about them. Three years later, I found some tucked in the freezer. Hard as a rock, they still looked good and I figured I thaw them out and microwave them. Yup, still good! Not fresh, but still not bad. Now, I don't have to worry about rummaging around my freezer. I can pick some up fresh from the Larchmont Village location which isn't too far away from me. I could swear these cookies from NYC were larger than the ones these days and some of the cookies here don't look consistent in size. Needs a bit of QC and maybe a standard scooper. How about that Thrifty scooper? Still one of my favorite cookies along with the cookies from Bristol Farms. I have an internal debate with myself on which is better. They also bake pastries, muffins, and loafs here fresh daily. Best to come here super early to beat the crowds and parking. read more

The line was really long, but it moved so fast. The minute you enter the store you're taken away by the whiff of fresh of bakery items. If it's not enough, your eyes will start feasting on all of the goodies in front of you as you wait eagerly your turn to be served. And then the smell of coffee fills up the air and it's like "c'mon!! My turn!!" We got the season's addition, lemon cookie. It was strange that it is called a cookie instead of a scone because its textures is pretty much a scone!! Love the filling of lemon within it that melts nicely when warmed up. If you like sweet it is perfect! For all lemon lovers this place is bomb.... If you can get over fact it's not a cookie, at least not for me. But it is pretty darn good! read more

My friend went in to the store yesterday and surprised me with a gluten free, vegan cookie!!! This was the best chocolate chip walnut gf, vegan cookie I have ever had. So buttery, chocolatey and delicious! I would guess they had almond flour but I was so impressed I made my friend take a bite to be sure it was. She for a box full of different flavors, some with coconut and Carmel, lemon, double chocolate etc. She said they were all fantastic! They are large cookies, about the size of a fist. Parking- be careful because my friend got a ticket for putting $ in the wrong meter. These are on the pricier end for a cookie, but due to the location it's understandable. If you have dietary restrictions, are gluten or dairy free they can accommodate! read more

We were so excited to find out that Levain was coming to LA after being so successful in NYC for so many years. We've had the Levain cookies from gifts from friends, but this was the first time we had it in person. I will admit that they opened in the most inconvenient of places - Larchmont Village. We waited until the hype died down and the wait/queue was no longer crazy. If you decide to wade through LA traffic, fight for parking and decide to come here, you'll be happily surprised that Levain's cookies really lives up to the hype, but only to cookie aficionados. Granted, you have to really love cookies to really be willing to shell out $5 for a cookie. I am one such fool. We were in and out and enjoying our cookies in 10 mins flat. And finished the cookie in another 10 seconds flat. Overall, would recommend others come and enjoy, but keep your expectations lower. read more

It's unfair that Levain has come so far from NYC to get to the west coast and yet still so far away from me. But Larchmont seems like a fitting place to host this haven for deliciously mounded cookies. In the era of high priced cookies these are certainly worth its heavier price tag. I decided to sneak off with a few of the crowd pleaser chocolate chip walnut cookies and my favorite the oatmeal raisin cookies. Both flavors are amazing. I was so excited to try the famous NYC bakery when Levain landed in LA recently. Navigating LA can be insane though, driving an hour just to go a handful of miles, so I appreciate that this location is open til almost 11pm at night! I stopped by late at night just before closing, after hanging out in West Hollywood and they still had plenty of cookies available, the ovens with fresh batches, and customers coming in. It was great that there was no line. They're big and hearty cookies at around $5 a piece, and they also have a coffee menu. The staff was extra helpful and friendly which really made for a sweet experience! We bought a bunch of cookies to take home and they even heated up some so we could enjoy them there. First of all, parking is slim pickins around this bakery. Every available parking space also comes with a handy little parking meter too. Just a heads up! However it is completely worth the stop. I have read that lines can be out the door, I am not sure if that is a specific time of the year (aka holidays) but we arrived around noon on a Friday and there were only two people in front of us. The man at the counter kindly explained what the most favored items were and had much patience for all our first timer questions. When walking in you can smell the delicious and freshness of the baked goods. We ordered the walnut chocolate chip, caramel coconut chocolate chip, and the dark chocolate- chocolate chip cookies. What a regret when trying them at home that we did not order more. These cookies are huge and so good, they have a crunchy outside but soft in the middle. Will definitely be returning. I would like to try their bread and other goodies next time. They also have the cutest tins to fill with cookies in a small and larger size that would be extremely cute gifts ! read more

okay i fear the cookies are just as amazing as everyone says. i was see excited to see a levain on the west coast during my little walk down the larchmont village shopping area. got the walnut chocolate chip cookie and wow it was amazing!! just superb!!! went there at 9pm and the cookie was still wonderful even though it was the end of the day and probably baked in the morning. also she handed me the bag with my singular cookie in it and i was in shock bc the cookie is actually massive. the bag was heavy you wouldn't think it was just 1 cookie in there!! the staff was super nice and friendly. will definitely be back i can't wait to try more cookies !!! p.s. if you have a real sweet tooth start here and after having a cookie make your way over to salt & straw. thank me later read more

Finally Levain in LA! We've been going to Levain for about 10 years so we were soooo happy to have it finally open here! So... cookies are 6 ounces. Huge! They are the thing to get... although all their bakery is killer. But you at least need to get some cookies. Namely the Oatmeal Raisin and the Chocolate Peanut Butter. I mean, really there is not a better cookie in the world. Forget Crumbl and Insomnia.. they are not even close! If there is a line, it goes by in 5-10 minutes. There is a whole army of employees so the line moves sooo fast. Don't let that dissuade you. Go.. go get some Levain! read more
