This place brings me back to my childhood. I've been visiting this location for over 15 years and the quality of their food has never decreased. Instead it just keeps getting better and better!! If I checked in to Lido's every time I went, since I was a little girl, I would hands down be the Duchess. I remember coming to Lido's when I was so little, that I had to be picked up to see over the outside window and watch them make the pizza. Lido's has some of the yummiest pizza in town. Awesome. We went last night which was a Saturday night around 7:30pm. There were seats open. I was shocked that I didn't have to wait. The first time i attempted to come to Lido's I wasn't able to find a place to park so I opted for a different restaurant that day. But today there was plenty parking, walked in and got seated right away. Ordered a house salad and some Rose house wine. Gotta Love White Zinfindel!!! So then we ordered a pizza with tomato, basil, meatball and anchovies. The anchovies are super salty. Other than that, the pizza was the best I've had so far. I will come back, recommend and praise this place. The service was very good and the place made you feel like you were in an old school italian restaurant. Our Family has been coming here since the early 60's. This place has weathered earth quakes, wars and recessions. The gooey scrumptious cheese on this pizza is as close to mystical pizza as you can get, combination of perfect sauce, toppings and herbs...sorry Chichis is not the same, Lido has a nostalgia of a "old valley" some things really don't change... It was interesting to me that the original owner of this place was from Indiana, since the aesthetic reminds me a lot of some of the older pizza places in central and southern Wisconsin. I don't know if there's anything particularly midwestern about that type of decor and atmosphere, though, at least in terms of where it started. Those '50s- and 60s-era places that I'd known growing up would tend to serve this pretty thin, square-cut pizza that actually wasn't very good, when it came down to it. That's where Lido is different: it looks like you can get that same type of square cut if you want, but the sauce, the cheese, and the crust are all much better, much closer to what I would associate with New York-style pizza. The one thing I did notice was that it came out a little underdone, and the side with the toppings (I got it with half cheese, half onion and mushroom) was pretty soggy and top-heavy--if you're going for the first time like I was you might want to get it with one topping at most and ask for it to be cooked a little longer. Aside from that, though, it was one of the best pizzas I've had in LA. read more

Where do I even begin with Lido's? From the second that I walk in and get their rolls, to the very last bite of food, makes it worth the wait (which you will undoubtedly have). I am such a junkie for their meat lasagna, my mouth is watering now just writing this. Yum! Their salads are amazing, however, if you get them to go, ask for the croutons on the side. Best Pizza I've had in LA! Their old school booths and cheap carafes of wine are just an added bonus. The pepperoni is a little thicker than average and their cheese and crust are melty and crispy. I can't ask for anything more in a pizza. I've taken a few friends here and everyone agrees that it is delicious. You wont go wrong here. My wife and our friend had a pizza that ruined all other pizzas for us. Perfectly greasy and totally tasty. The jalapeños were sliced long-ways, which was unique on pizza and tastes better (probably because they are more likely to be fresh if being cut that way?). Ordered take out today. It took about 20 minutes and it was ready for pickup. $16 for an individual pizza. I got pineapple with 1/2 sausage and 1/2 pepperoni. When I picked it up, I asked for ranch (normally $2 for a side!!) and he luckily said he'd include it for free. Overall it was a good pizza but it was too cheesy/messy for my liking. The pizza hardly stayed together enough for me to eat without a fork. The sausage was not the best... Probably wouldn't get it again. But the pepperoni side was awesome. Overall 4 stars. read more

This place reminds me of the family owned Italian restaurants that I grew up with in Michigan. Unassuming 60's charm the way an old school Italian restaurant should be. The food is the best! I've tried most everything from lasagna, italian beef sandwich, classic spaghetti & meatball, combo, etc. Everything tastes so fresh and really authentic. one thing is for certian, this cute Italian place can easily be missed driving by on a busy street. I have driven by it for 5 years and up until recently was driving along trying to find some good food and stumbled here with my Girlfriend. Excelent Pizza...love the way they cook the mushrooms into the cheese in the pizza...great crust... I wish they would make a size larger than they do...but the large is adequate for 3 people. The Ravioli is good too..as is the meatball sandwich... Just had lunch here today because I had read such outstanding reviews of this place, Ordered meatless tomato marinara with spaghetti and side salad. The marinara sauce was super bland,side salad was $4.50 extra and it was a really small salad (couple pieces of lettuce, small tomato slice, onion slivers, 4-5 garbanzo beans and a small pepper. Was totally disenchanted. However, the waiter was really nice. (but then, he did not make the sauce) Perhaps the pizza is really good here but probably will not be going back again to find out. read more
