Numero Uno is the best pizza in town. Full stop. It's been my favorite since the early '80s in Glendale, CA, and it's now my family's favorite too. We still make the trek to the North Hollywood location a few times a year, even though it's a bit of a drive. The pizza? Still fantastic. The staff? Always great. The storefront? Honestly... terrible. From a business standpoint, I don't get it. Why wouldn't you want to look like you're actually open? This location is already hidden from the street. If it's your first time, you have to really look to find it. And once you do, driving through the Burger King parking lot, it looks abandoned. Deserted. Like nothing's happening inside. You have one window facing the street. One. And instead of making it inviting, eye-catching, or even alive, it does the opposite. The old slogan was "One bite and we gotcha." Fair enough. But someone has to take that first bite. And when the place doesn't catch a single eye from the street, you're only serving people who already know they want Numero Uno. That's not how you grow a business. That's how you coast. New customers. New fans. More people discovering what might actually be the best pizza in town. That should be the goal. Look at the place. It's been like this for years. At this point, my only conclusion is that the owner doesn't want to sell more pizzas. And that feels irresponsible. Not just to the business, but to the pizza itself. Because there are people out there who deserve to eat this pizza. And they don't even know it exists. read more

I got the Hawaiian thick crust pizza on a take-out order. The thick crust tasted like dry stale bread, there was very little ham on top, very little chees and no sauce...just chunks of tomatoes on top. I've never been to this location before, but used to go to the Canoga Park location and the Tarzana location before they closed up. Never did I get a pizza like this before. I contacted them twice, nobody responded back to me. I will be disputing the charge with my cc company. I would not recommend getting pizza at this location. read more

Terrible bait and switch joint. True Numero Uno pizzas are made with stewed tomatoes which gives the pizza a rich slightly sweet taste. This place says you're getting an original recipe pizza but, in fact, uses fresh sliced tomatoe pieces (barely ripe) which have no flavor at all and it makes for a very different and wholly underwhelming eating experience. The indoor space is cozy--fits about 10-15 people comfortably--but the outdoor area has more room if you're looking for extra space. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, always checking in and keeping our drinks topped off. The food was amazing! Portions were just right, and the prices were really reasonable. I haven't had Numero Uno Pizza in years! I'd say it had been at least 6 years. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd pass by to see if it was still open. I was super excited to see it still open. In a new location from what I remember and of course Covid restrictions only allowed for take out....but still excited. I was lucky with my timing. I placed my order and walked to my car to wait. As I closed my doors, a short line formed outside the restaurant. I waited maybe 30 minutes for my order. I couldn't drive home fast enough. I ordered a large cheese, a small pepperoni, and an antipasto salad (my favorite). The pizza tasted just as scrumptious as I remembered it. The crunchy, thick, sweet crust is the perfect compliment to the savory sauce that accompanies the toppings. I can't get enough of those chunky sweet tomatoes. Next time, and yes there will be a next time, I may just ask for extra tomatoes. IYKYK! All the staff were extremely polite and attentive. This was a super experience we called ahead to order due to time crunch, and although they were confused by this, they went with it 100%. Why were they confused? Well for the same reason I left off one star, which is entirely subjective and contextual. This location of Numero Uno is largely a sports bar in ambiance so, for a sports bar to also have some of the very best pizza, wings, and salads in the SFValley??!! Yes!! For a traveling band of family members with young kids, somewhat awkward. So you see my point. I have been coming to this location for a very long time. My folks used to live close by and since they moved I hadn't been back. It used to be a bigger location but they moved to a smaller location right next to it years ago. I was so happy it was able to stay open. Numero Uno was my favorite! I loved the family meal deal they have that comes with pasta, pizza and a salad. It was a great deal back then at only 9.99. Today I paid $50. Hey I understand inflation but I also ordered a few other items to go and my order was missing two items. We drove pretty far so there was really nothing we could do, we were out the money the items cost. We sat to have part of our meal there and it was also missing an item that our server charged us for and then claimed that we didn't order it. The server was rude and condescending and I was really sad that my old spot's warmth and charm had diminished. I dont know when I will be back here. The food was good but the cleanliness and service needs work. I gave it a generous four stars because I dont want it to lose business, I want management to be aware and step up to make this place the gem I know it is. read more

Although yesterday there was a server she was light skinned with glasses, and her tone was very rude from the moment we sat down, her customer service was the most brutal way of treating paying customers, not only was she very rude and controlling when trying to order but also calling us cheap for no reason, and threw the bill at our face,and yelling hysterically about the bill and how cheap people are when we didn't ask for her opinion.
