Looking to get some catered food such as eggrolls? You've come to a good place. This is a food to go place with a few tables if you wish to sample some of their foods at the store. I really enjoy the bun bo hue and my quang here. So if you don't know, bun bo hue is a spicy beef soup with utilizing both beef and pork for the broth and meat. The noodles are thick vermicelli noodles almost looking like udon but thinner with a bite and less chew. Broth is very beefy loaded with paprika and tons of lemongrass... I eat it frequently but I still manage to choke on the spices each and every time I eat this dish. You get to have some slices of braised beef, some ground up pork, some congealed blood cubes (all foods have to have a blood dish) and a piece of ham hock (uncured). I know this sounds a little scary so if you don't want the crazy meats then just tell them. Add as much satay chili to taste. My quang is a yellow noodle. It's served semi dry, there is just a little bit of soupy sauce at the bottom of the bowl, but enough to coat the noodles. Comes with similar cuts of pork and some shrimp.. I would say this is easier to palate. Load up on the fresh veggies and you have a really satisfying meal. I know there are other places to get bun bo hue but I just enjoy the atmosphere here at Lien Hue and at 5 bucks for a bowl, 6 for a large, it's a damn steal. read more

first time here because I was ordering food to go for a big party I have coming up and decided since it's getting late I'll just dine in here with the fiancé , my son , & in laws . I saw some costumers who walked in ordering the mi quang and it looked amazing so I decided why not try it . Our food finally came out & the mi quang looked amazing it was loaded with egg noddles , veggies , & a lot of meat I was so excited to try it and when I did I was super disappointed.. the service here is pretty bad .. there's also no bathroom here for their costumers so try your best to eat clean . As we sat down I realize they don't really clean the place the tables are still sticky you can see the sticky marks on the table still lol .. I'll still give this a 3 star because they're not stingy with the toppings I just wished it had some flavor . read more

My journey for the best bun bo hue around OC landed me here Bun bo hue here I must say is pretty cheap for a bowl compare to other places. Small-$5 Large-$6 The bowl didn't come out pipping hot. It was lukewarm at best. Small bowl comes with: 2 pieces of gio (Pork shaped round things) 4 pieces of Beef Slices 2 blocks of Beef Blood Skimpy on the noodles Broth: It was a little thick and you can see the fat settle. It was not sweet as other bun bo places, it does have some slight taste of Hue but not enough to make me go WOW this is sooo good. Cafe Sua Da: ($2) Like every other place it was only filled half way with lots of Ice. The ice here are not crushed. This place has the best Banh beo! My all time favorite vn dish ! It taste just like my Mother in Law's used to make :) Call ahead for to go orders and it's ready for you for pick up. Came here on the way home from work to order to-go. Their noodle dishes are very affordable, at $7.50 for a large. Their portions are quite generous, you can definitely share it with another person (a female friend, probably not a hungry guy). I believe two large would feed three adults. Their bun bo hue is one of the best at the store. Very flavorful broth, lots of meat. They also sell many hue dishes, all are very good. Don't mind the workers there, they are there to cook and not really for customer service. read more

Mi Quang and bun bo hue to go, large portions and very reasonable. To go service was fast. For the bun bo hue I trim the meat of visible fat and tossed the congealed blood (my aging parents don't need to eat that, seriously) which is what I recommend if you are feeding friends that are squeamish about organs and weird meats. I liked the mi Quang better than the bun no hue, but had I not eaten them both the same day I would have found them equally tasty. They give a decent amount of veggies and fixings for the soup portions but honestly I could have had more. I like my Vietnamese soup to be like a brothy salad with some noodles and meat! Overall yummy soups to bring home and reheat. A large bowl is good for two meals if you are not a big eater. read more

Wow, this little hole in the wall is the best kept secret in town. Tried the banh beo and the bun bo hue, excellent!!! I deducted 1 star because it's on a cash only basis. I have been here 10+ times. Very good tasting food (all items) for a cheap price. Service is fast and friendly. The place looks like it can use some remodeling to improve dine-in experience but if you order take out, it should not bother you much. I was introduced to this place about 6 years ago before the recession hit. The prices were ridiculously cheap and surprisingly still are. $6 for a large bowl of bun bo hue or mi quang with all the fixings! Tempting right? When I come to Lien Hue I expect a straight up family run business with ladies young and old cooking and yelling in the back, reminds me of my house on family gathering days to be honest. This little food togo restaurant is a little gem to me so I only usually take one of my more adventurous friend here cause I don't think I could take the heartbreak if other judgmental types didn't like the place. Growing up with hue food all my life I think I can tell a bad version of a dish from a good one. They do everything extremely well here it's a shame that more people don't know about it. I order the Mi Quang every time I am here. Nothing more nothing less. It hits such a deep spot in my heart because it tastes so similar to what I used to get at home from my grandma. Mi Quang is my absolute favorite vietnamese noodle dish EVER. Packed with a pungent sweet fishy broth and filled with mixed greens with bright yellow noodles and pork and shrimp, this is what I consider comfort food at it's best. This place probably has the best Bun Bo Hue in little saigon other than Saigon Deli. The broth is spicy, and rich with layers of flavor that seems like someone worked on it all day. The meat quantity for the noodle dishes here are outrageous for the prices they charge also. I actually feel like I'm ripping them off sometimes. I also get the Banh Nam here which is the thing wrapped in the banana leaf and is flat. It's freakin amazing, it holds it shape and is tender yet not a gooey mess like some other places. Growing up banh nam was the only thing I would order and I have not had it better any where else. I came here once and an old vietnamese man that was dining there had a seizure...I am still traumatized YET I keep coming back. I am scarred but my will and hunger for great food obviously trumps my fears. Maybe it isn't such a bad thing this place isn't popular, I don't want to share this hidden treasure from the debris of little saigon food culture craze. Since the restaurant has like 5 tables I am glad there are always open tables when I arrive. Food is edible. Not really the best Hue traditional food. Don't order there for important events. Ordered food for a Saturday. They took the name, order and date down. Check with them couple of days before. When I came, they said they "ran out." They told the guy before me the same and told him to go across town to LH #2 to pick up his order. No apologies. Stone faced unprofessional uneducated practice. Will NO LONG be going there. 3 star for Bun Bo because the chilli paste/sauce taste like it's from a jar bought from supermarket. 1, it's not as spicy so you will end up putting a lot in your Bun Bo broth and broth will become too red and oily. 2, chilli paste does not have enough chopped lemon grass. Bun bo tastes ok only, fair for a fast food/to-go place. Another reason I won't come back to this place is because of price. You pay the same when you go to a legit Bun Bo restaurant. read more

I have been too many places for bun bo hue, mi quang, and banh beo. My dad side is from Da Nang which is the next big city just south of Hue. Everybody in our family agrees that this is the best place for all 3 items above. A lot of the other items is also above average. I also like the price of this place even though their prices just went up. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is their service and how small this place is. Also once in a while they can be inconsistent, their soup for their bun bo hue can get a bit bland. If it gets packed it is a little bit uncomfortable to sit in the restaurant. There is probably no more than 7 or 8 tables that sits no more than 4. My mom likes their banh canh even though she prefers Quan Hy more. read more

We normally go to Lien Hue because it's convenient. Staff are normally nice. We can place phone order on party items. Food is decent for the most part. We normally order egg roll, goi sua Tom thit, fried rice, chow mien, banh nam, banh bot loc and bun bo hue or mi quang. This place has good food from central Vietnam, Hue. I'm most disappointed with goi cuon Tom thit (the spring rolls). The dipping sauce was terrible because they don't use peanut sauce but more of tuong cuu da. I will never order spring rolls from here again. Other than that most other food are good and the price is decent. read more

Bun Bo Hue here is so good!!! One of the best in OC. I also really like their Bun Thit Nuong. The Thit Nuong is very flavorful and juicy. Get the big portion. It is only $1 more and it huge!!! Why not?? The Nem Nuong Cuon is good but I'm not too crazy about the sauce. Mi Quang and Banh Canh are alright, nothing special. I would buy this togo instead of eating in because I saw how the lady clean the table... yuck!!!! read more

Yum! My bf loves bun ho hue here. He lives far away so everytime I come to visit him I always stop by at Lien Hue. Their sepcial bun bo hue is so cheap! Only $6 but you get huge portion with lot of meat! My bf eats a lot but he can't even finish it, so he would give the left over to Mina (his dog) and she likes it too! XD I have had their banh canh. They made it Hue style, the noodle is bigger than normal, it was alright. And I have had their banh nam too, and it was not good. The flour layer is too thick comparing to the little filling inside. Came here yesterday for banh canh and sadly wasn't a fan. I orde Togo and ate at home. I liked the soup but the noodle is so thick! !! It just tasted like flour and so chewy I feel if you ate bun noodle with it, it will be a lot better. I also got 4 egg roll, but the lady told me to get five so it can be exactly $3 . Which is kinda expensive for eggroll... and it was old eggroll everything came out to be $16. I would say this is pretty expensive for a Togo place. I ordered small Mi xao and egg rolls for my last day at my inter site. The teachers there loved them. They even asked me for the address. I tried to order over the phone the guy told me I had to put in a deposit then I asked him what do they serve their soup sandwiches Exedra he could not answer me he said we have many things on the menu so if he can't tell me you what they have how would I be able to order if there's not an online menu. Lien Hue on Euclid, I think this place satisfied my appetites on Bun Bo Hue, I have no complaints on there Bun Bo, good portion, lots of meat and vegetables plate on the side. Try their Cha Gio Hoa Tien, only .90 cents, should cater that instead of Egg Rolls. I think everyone will like that over Egg Rolls at your next parties. read more
