    Half of a Limeña Sandwich
    Alexis F.

First time trying Peruvian food and it was amazing. My friends got tallarin and the other got lomo saltado and I was able to try a bit of each and both were also super delicious. I got the Limena sandwich. Sorry for my half picture, I completely forgot to take a pic at the start it was so good! The portion size goes with the pricing when you're looking at that just know you will have some for leftovers or you'll be very very full after your meal. The guy working at the front register is really nice and check in on us to see how everything was going. I'll definitely be back to try more things!

Authentic Peruvian casual family owned restaurant. Everything was so good! It's a small place, but it does have a good sized patio area. There are a few parking spots that you'll come across in the front to the side, but there's also street parking.

Limeña is probably one of the best kept secrets in the 805. My Wednesday was made a little bit better by being able to finally try some classic Peruvian dishes at Limeña Peruvian Eatery in Thousand Oaks, California. Gabriel and his team are insanely passionate about the business and their community. I was only here about 30 minutes but I felt right at home, welcomed and eager to come back for more AND WITH FRIENDS. This is the kind of restaurant where you bring a group, everyone orders a different dish, and then you pass them around to get an amazing bite after bite. With Gabriel's help I was able to narrow it down to a few dishes that I had to try. The interior here is super cozy and inviting. I grabbed a big table against the wall and was delighted to see all of the customers that rolled in after work hours. I love seeing those in the community that feel at home coming into restaurants such as this, where their native language can be spoken and all of the great Spanish hits from my youth were playing in the background. Really the ambiance and atmosphere here is so inviting and warm. What you absolutely MUST order: Ceviche Carretillero : I don't know which food gods are shining down on me this week but this was ANOTHER one of the best bites I've had yet this year. Their famous Peruvian ceviche topped with fried calamari. It totally works and knocked my socks off. It's super refreshing with the Leche de Tigre, cold halibut and sweet potato, yet topped with that perfectly crispy calamari - this is a dish I won't soon forget and honestly will be longing for. Pollo Saltado : a more well known Peruvian dish, traditionally comes with beef, chicken or seafood. This lovely stir fried dish with onion, tomatoes, fries and rice is a Peruvian staple and fan favorite here. I opted for the chicken this time and was blown away by the flavors and textures. Such a solid and hearty dish. Definitely you'll have room for leftovers. All of this delicious food washed down with a Passionfruit Juice Please come give them a try!

The owner greeted us warmly after finding easy street parking for lunch. He provided us photos for the items we were interested in. My wife is very sensitive to cilantro flavor and thankfully we could barely taste it in the ceviche mixto and Loma soltado sauce. A very hard feat to achieve! Overall flavoring was great. We wish there were some tortilla chips that came with the ceviche. The steak could have been more tender and would have been perfect. Overall nice spot.

Delicious food, clean flavors, great plating, extremely fresh ingredients. It's a casual place despite the expensive prices. But the food is definitely good. We ordered the mariscos aroz, lomo saltado, and the yucca. Yucca with the three dipping sauces was perfect. Fluffy interior, crispy exterior, and the sauces were extremely complimentary. The mariscos aroz had a lot of seafood and was so flavorful. I think this was my favorite entree. The lomo saltado was also delicious with strong flavors. It is definitely pricy, especially for the setting, but it's so rare to find Peruvian food this good. I'd definitely come here again.

Pollo a la brasa - breast

I've been craving pollo a la brasa for a while and finally came across this place while visiting CA and was so happy. Service was quick and super friendly! Ambience was casual but a really cute set up. I had the pollo a la brasa and it did not disappoint. Green sauce was on point and I loved the salad dressing. Yuca was fresh and fried perfectly. Chicken was deliciously seasoned and had a little kick like I love. It's slightly pricey but so is everything when eating out these days so I don't blame them. Wish I lived closer so I could keep coming back Updating this to say I tried the ice cream and yum!!! I was too full to get the one that came with plantains but I can imagine how yummy that would be!

Had a delicious meal with the family at Limeña! Everything was on point. We ordered saltados, chaufas, tallarin, bistec, plantains. We even went for dessert and had lucuma ice cream and a superb flan. Gabriel, the owner, was so nice and welcoming. The restaurant is well kept and clean, including the restrooms. Highly recommend this little gem, especially if you're craving some latin cuisine. They know what they're doing!

Overall very good but not great. I ordered a half chicken with two sides of salad and a side of salsa criolla. Everything was tasty. The only downside was that the chicken skin was not crispy at all. Service was good and the place is cute and clean with a few outdoor tables.

Little did I…read moreknow that a place in Westlake Village - literally across the street from where I used to work! - had souffle pancakes of their own. I've come here 3-4 times now and the food is always fantastic. I recommend coming on a weekday if you can, because on Saturdays and Sundays I've waited over an hour to get a table during peak brunch hours (still worth it though, just plan accordingly). My wife and I usually split a savory breakfast item (usually a benedict or an omelet or something) and then share a souffle pancake. Last time we tried Bannamon and it was divine. Our friends who were visiting from out of town were equally impressed. Highly recommend!

A family nearby brought a loud toy truck for their child that continuously made an extremely high-pitched screeching and beeping noise throughout our meal. It wasn't just us who found it disruptive--several other customers also brought it to the staff's attention. Unfortunately, nothing was done, and it completely took away from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. Had we known this was the atmosphere we were paying for, we honestly would have gone somewhere like McDonald's instead. The food itself was a mixed experience. My boyfriend ordered the loco moco and really enjoyed it. I had the pancakes, which had great flavor but were a little on the dry side. The sweet potato fries were delicious, although the ranch dipping sauce was surprisingly bland and lacked flavor. My Diet Coke was also flat. It's disappointing because the food had some strong points, but the lack of attention to the dining experience really overshadowed everything else. We understand that restaurants can't control every guest, but when multiple customers express concerns about a major disturbance, we would expect staff to at least attempt to address it. Overall, I'm not sure I can recommend this restaurant based on our experience. Note: I'd also like to mention that the service was inconsistent throughout our visit. We ended up being helped by several different servers, which made it difficult to know who was actually taking care of our table. At one point, we simply wanted to order another drink. Our server told us he would be back shortly to take our order, but he never returned. After waiting for quite some time, we eventually had to walk up to the bar ourselves just to order a drink. Between the lack of attentive service and the way the disturbance was handled, the overall experience was disappointing.

We got the salmon and poached eggs waffle, the smores waffle, original, and the Benny Bought a Farm waffle. All was delicious!!!!! They have homemade lemonades as well. Their side of potatoes was also super yummy. Just a note that I requested decaf coffee and it comes from an instant coffee machine and tastes very artificial--not what you expect for the price. We asked about it and they were very kind and offered to replace it with another drink for free. We would love to come back again next time we're in Newbury Park for breakfast!

We figured that's perfect since it's our reservation time anyway. 11am rolls around and we still hadn't been called or got a text that our table was ready. My partner goes back in to see how much longer, and they weren't able to provide an estimated wait time, only confirmation that we were checked in. We were finally seated at 11:25am, with sincerest apologies for the wait and first round of drinks on the house, which was a really nice gesture. Our waiter, Oscar, greeted us and immediately said his boss told him free drinks on the house, and asked what we wanted. I can't tell you how much I really appreciated not only the gesture, but the message being passed down the chain of command. I don't know how many other restaurants I've been to, where we've been told something is on the house due to a mistake and then when we get the bill it isn't. The fact that they made double sure that it was clear we would be compensated a free round a drinks was very impressive to me. Great customer service, accountability and fantastic leadership. Oscar was a great server too. He told us to scan the QR code on the menu because it had picture options, and there were items there that weren't on the menu. After each person placed our order, he'd made comments such as "that's one of my favorites!" or "I really like that one!" which was a nice confirmation that he is knowledgeable on what we are ordering. At one point, he brought our waters and said that the bartenders were still making our drinks, but after he took our order he was going to help the bartender. Again, great customer service, work ethic, and team work. Now onto the food. In terms of drinks we ordered two watermelon lemonades, a cold brew and coffee. For food, we ordered The Gravy Train, Chicken and Waffles, You Had Me at Burger, Benny Met A Cali Girl, and Waffle Cute. I really enjoyed the food. Let me tell you, every single person at our table cleared their plate. Apparently, today our table was feeling very savory, but I would love to go back and try some of their sweeter options. My personal standout was the seasoned potatoes. I'm the type of gal who needs to try a bite of my everything my partner orders and when I took one bite, I somehow finished his entire side of seasoned potatoes. They were perfectly crunchy on the outside with a good amount of potato (not too much, not too little) on the inside. I loved them. Maybe this was just bad timing on our part because it was a holiday, and we came at lunch time, but I did notice it did take a long time to receive our food. We received our food at 12:07pm. I can't remember exactly what time we placed our food order, but if we were seated at 11:25am, 45 minutes seems like quite a wait to order and for the food to arrive. I imagine if the bartender was backed up, the kitchen was probably too. Overall, I think if you don't have any plans for the rest of the day, or if they're flexible, definitely give this place a try. When I think "brunch" this is the exact type of food I want in terms of quality and quantity. I also felt like the price was fairly priced for what we received. Parking is also plentiful and free. Lastly, I was very impressed with the customer service from both management and our waiter.

When we asked our server, "What would you recommend?" the response was, verbatim, "Just get anything," followed by a point toward the menu. That pretty much summed up the service experience. That said, the restaurant itself has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is pleasant, the space is thoughtfully designed, and it's clear the owners invested considerable time, money, and care into building the place. You can genuinely see the effort behind the restaurant. And that's what makes the service more disappointing. A restaurant can have a beautiful space and solid food, but hospitality is what turns a transaction into an experience. Basic attentiveness, eye contact, genuine recommendations, and making guests feel welcome shouldn't be asking too much. The restaurant will likely continue to do well because the concept, location, and atmosphere are strong. But if the owners invested the same level of care into the guest experience that they clearly invested into the physical restaurant, it could be significantly better. Tried the food, and not gonna lie, the Dutch Bay is amazing. Definitely a must try! Good restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Hospitality, however, needs work.

This isn't the trendy, brightly lit coffee shop that's designed for Instagram. Instead, it's a cozy little café where every drink feels like it was made with heart. As a family-owned bakery and coffee shop, they offer a delicious selection of freshly baked pastries, bagels, and cinnamon rolls that make it hard to choose just one. I ordered the vanilla latte with oat milk, and it did not disappoint. Their house-made vanilla syrup gave the latte a rich, creamy flavor that was absolutely delicious. While I was there, Mayra had just pulled a fresh batch of matcha cinnamon rolls out of the oven, and I'm so glad I gave one a try--it was warm, soft, and incredible. Located directly across the street from Basta and Honey Cup, La Cereza is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Don't sleep on this little café--you'll leave wondering why you didn't stop in sooner.

The keto quiche with almond flour crust was to die for!!! But I didn't have to die because it was ultra low carb and listed the net carb count on the menu, so it was a safe food for me. LI'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best things I've ever eaten at a cafe! It had only 6 g of net carbs and was also vegan and gluten-free. It was so good, everyone I was dining with wanted to order it. As a Type 1 diabetic who needs to carefully control my carb intake and know exactly how many carbs are in food so that I can take the appropriate amount of insulin, eating outside of my home often feels like a huge game of risk. So when I encounter a place that has keto items on the menu and lists the amount of net carbs so that I know how much insulin to take, I am actually overwhelmed with gratitude. When there's an item like this on a menu for anyone on a keto diet, of which there's so many of us for many different reasons, I feel like the people making that decision are showing a kindness and respect to the diversity of their customers' needs. It's the most welcoming thing a business can do. My dream is that one day, every cafe offers this. This quiche was so good, I would be willing to make the drive to Westlake Village just to eat it. The staff was also really kind, checking other sugar and carb counts for other dishes so that I can understand more about the menu. Everything at The Royal Egg was just all class. The food was piping hot when it came out, the coffee was delicious, I loved that everything was farm to table and grass fed, etc. I genuinely can't wait to go back!!

I said Really? She confirmed there was no way to give me a time, as they were slammed. I had to make up a parking spot, so I figured that I couldn't wait too long. So I just said, "Well, if you're that busy, I'll just take a refund." Another girl came over, and she said, " Well, you can't get a refund. You'll have to call Chow Now" I explained that I ordered through their website, and she explained that they use Chow Now. I said, " Well, can't you just tell me how long it'll be to make an egg burrito?" At this point, it had been only about 15-20 minutes since I ordered it. All I was doing was looking for a time. Then the manager came over and decided to "school" me on how busy the restaurant was, and I needed to understand that when I order food, it may or may not be ready when it says it's ready. She was obnoxious to say the least!! So I said, "Look, I don't want my money back, but how long is it gonna take to make a burrito?" and she said. "I don't know. We're busy!!!" And walked away, and then the other girl said it would only be another 10 minutes. So I said "OK", and I went outside to move my car because, as I mentioned, I was parked in a fake spot. There was no spot where I parked. I parked in the blue lines. Now just imagine if I was a delivery driver for DoorDash or somebody who delivers food, and you get a text saying your food is ready and you're there to pick it up, and there's no parking, so you make up a spot, and they're telling you that they have no idea how long it's gonna take. I was trying to be accommodating, so I said OK when the one girl said she would get it made in like 10 minutes. So I went outside to move my car, and then I got an email message saying that they canceled the order because they were too busy. I'm not sure what happened, but I have worked in customer service for many years. I'm in my 50s. I don't need to be talked down to like I'm a 20-year-old person who's never ordered food before and even if I was a 20-year-old who had never ordered food before, I don't think the manager coming out and screaming at me because she's overwhelmed is good customer service. I mean, being busy is a good thing. The place looked packed, so I'm assuming the food is really good, and it's really popular, but this interaction has left a really stale taste in my mouth. And my husband, when I came home without the egg burrito, was like are you kidding me and they were rude too. We'll never go there. Again, going back to my original statement. If they were too busy to make an egg burrito, then they shouldn't have taken the order in the first place. I'm sure the manager will get upset and comment something rude about me. I was happy to wait, I just needed a time. If it was 45 minutes, I could have come back home. If it were 10, then I could have moved my car, which is what I decided to do when they canceled the order.
