There was a fair amount of guests dining and in line (it was sunset time), so the Asian inner me knew the food is worth waiting in line for. We had seats reserved to dine outside. Haven't dined out since pre-corona and the location was quite peaceful with the lull of passing cars. I appreciated how the waiters were polite and wore masks too. We ordered the family special Pollo A La Brasa with Inka Cola, fried yuca, french fries, and house salad. The salad was abundant with colors: radish, carrots, purple cabbage, and cilantro. I am in love with the yuca and fries: golden, crunchy shells, and the insides softly melts with the green hot sauce. The owner came to make sure we had a good time and he was funny and charismatic thinking the red bean hotteok I made was made of ube. We also ordered Alfajores and they were reminiscent of Vietnamese mung bean cakes: crumbly and sweet. Perfect food coma. read more

WE DROVE ALMOST 3 HRS TO TRY THIS PLACE !!! (And we'd gladly do it again, probably weekly if gas wasn't so expensive) We have been on an adventure to try different Peruvian restaurants all around Cali from San Diego to LA and the IE and we have found the winner. Thank you Yelp for leading us here because the reviews don't lie, this is Michelin quality authentic Peruvian food right here that I sadly won't be able to find anywhere near me. This was an amazing cultural foodie experience because the owner came out to chat with us about the roots of their famous Ceviche Limena (fun fact did you know ceviche actually originated in Peru?). It was such an amazing personal experience to know how their ceviche is prepped and where the ingredients are sourced from (spoiler alert it's from Peru). Then tasting the dish after was mind-blowing. The big chunks of fresh halibut and the lime and the leche de tigre *chef's kiss*. The best part was the roasted corn nuts and the Peruvian corn with the yams, this combination of salty sweet and sour is genius. The portion was just right for two and I appreciated how they read our minds and served us the ceviche first and brought our entrees out piping hot as we were on our last bite. You can really tell they take pride in their food and enjoy sharing their culture. Service was fantastic! We got our food so fast. Food gets even better with the pollo a la brasa quarter chicken with the fried plantains and the tallerin verde con milanesa steak. The chicken was absolutely the best chicken I've ever had! The chicken was perfectly tender and juicy and somehow the skin was super crispy and you can taste the seasoning. The fried plantains had a little crisp to them and was soft on the inside, one of my favorites! It went so well with the green salsa! I was saddened we forgot to try the rice but the green salsa is like no other we have had before. It is not super spicy but very flavorful. The spice is just a quick subtle heat but doesn't linger in your mouth where you feel like your mouth is on fire for the rest of the meal so don't skip it! The tallerin verde was perfectly al dente and creamy with hints of basil and the steak milanesa was so tender and flavorful. Prices were extremely fair for the quality we got. A must try if you are anywhere near the area. This was a true gem that we couldn't stop talking about on the way home! Thank you to the owner and chef for such an amazing experience. read more

Totally worth the drive! I've been hearing great things about this recently opened Peruvian restaurant so I had to come check it out. We had the Ceviche Carretero as an appetizer and really enjoyed the combination of textures and flavors - the halibut melts in your mouth like butter, the corn nuts have a nice crunch, some sweetness from the yams and let's not get into the spicy leche de tigre - absolutely delicious! As an entree, I ordered the Lomo Saltado and will definitely have to order it every time I come no matter what! The sauce gave the whole dish a rich flavor, the beef was tender and the rice was cooked perfectly - the grains were separate & fluffy. I'm a fry lover so I know a good fry and these did not disappoint. They had a great bite that held up to the dish, which is hard when fries are mixed in with sauce. Throughout my meal I was sipping on Artisanal Peruvian beers that I hadn't tried before and was pleasantly surprised with how fresh & crisp they were. A nice accompaniment to an excellent meal on a warm sunny day! Lastly, I couldn't leave without picking up a box of their Alfajores cookies. They barely made it home (we had a long drive back) lol! I definitely recommend this restaurant! Shout out to the chef, Joshua Burga, who really understands flavors & textures in cooking. Let me start by saying Lomo Saltado is my favorite dish ever, so when I discovered there was a Peruvian place in town, I already knew what I was getting. The lomo at Limena is phenomenal! The meat was tender, the flavor was spot on and the green sauce is like the cherry on top. I would eat a whole tub of the green sauce if I could! The staff and owner are extremely attentive and more than happy to provide you with recommendations, explanations and suggestions. My boyfriend got the Lomo Saltado and I got the Ceviche Mixto. Both were delicious. The beef in the lomo saltado was tender and the sauce was so tasty! My ceviche was spectacular, it had octopus, shrimp and halibut. The seafood quality was great, everything tasted fresh. For dessert we got the Helado de Lúcuma with plantains . The helado de lúcuma is ice cream made of a regional tropical fruit in Peru and I have to say it is now my favorite ice cream flavor. I would rate this place a 10/10! Great Peruvian spot in a town where you don't find much/any Peruvian food around. This is a great addition to the Thousand Oaks area to vary up your food options. We ordered a lomo saltado and pollo a la brass. We went on a weekday and wish they would have asked us if we wanted the lunch menu (we ordered from the regular menu). It is a great deal ordering from the lunch menu versus regular menu during the weekday lunch hours (saves you $$). Well, the lomo saltado was great and flavorful, the meat was tender and the sauce was good to have with the rice. It also came with a side of green ahi (chili sauce). The pollo a la brass was also nice and flavorful. You can taste the garlic and cumin marinade. The skin was crispy and they meat was tender. I have had juicier pollo a la brass but this was still good.We got it with the side of yucca fries. The yucca fries were fresh and nice and crispy and paired with the green ahi is a win win! I have been here two times and the Limeña sandwich brings me back. It's a delicious fried egg sandwich with ham and chicken with cheese. Very comfort food and really filing. My family and I went for lunch and had the Pollo a la Brasa, Tallarin de Lomo and de Pollo, Papa la Huancaina, and Aji sauces and house dressings for the salad. All of our plates were delicious had all the right flavors and presentation. When I go back I'll be ordering these items again or try something new. What we didn't enjoy much was the Tallarin Verde and the Linguini con Salmon. The tallarin verde was just this thick green sauce that had no flavor. I was expecting a proper pesto based (basil, garlic, olive oil) sauce and was disappointed. The cheesy linguini was the same not like Alfredo more like a very bad mac & cheese sauce from a box. If they made the Tallarin Verde more authentically it would be much more of a big hit. All the other dishes were delicious and tasted authentic! They have many items on the menu that only a true Peruvian would serve. I will keep going back to enjoy their yummy dishes that have their heart in them. read more

The girls working there are very nice & try to be helpful. Food on the menu is quite different than I am used to. The sides are mostly items that are fried but it still smelled good so I decided to at least try the roasted chicken. The chicken is very seasoned, a little too much for my liking. Very pungent. I called to see if there were any GF options available and the girl who answered the phone said " I think only the quinoa salad is". I asked if she could find out for sure or get someone who can answer my questions. Great flavor, meat was tender. Portion size was on the small size for the $21 price tag but it was delicious. If the portion was a little bigger I'd give it 5 stars! The rice was perfect, the fries were great and I tried the Peruvian Golden Kola which was okay, I still prefer regular Coca Cola but it had an interesting flavor. We're always looking for new places to eat. While searching Yelp for something new, I came across this place. I love Peruvian food so I was so excited to find this place, especially since they serve breakfast. The inside is quite small, we were the only people, so it was nice and quiet. As we entered, an older gentleman greeted us (I'm assuming the owner). He asked if we had been there before and since we hadn't, he went over the entire breakfast menu with us, describing each item. Great impression from the start. I decided on the pork tamale, an over easy egg a la cart and a mimosa. My husband chose the lomo saltado omelette. The food came out pretty fast. Everything was hot and delicious. I'm not familiar with Peruvian tamales so it was fun to find hard boiled egg and an olive inside! The pickled onions on top were definitely a nice addition (I love onions!). The omelette was equally delicious. The meat was so flavorful. We also loved the green side that came on the side (I can't remember what it's called). I really wish we had discovered this place sooner. We will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. This was my first introduction to Peruvian food and I have to say I've fallen in love. My friends and I ordered several of the plates to share and get a taste of everything. Each plate had its own unique flavor and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. I recommend sampling a few dishes at the same time if possible. The menu is displayed on a few monitors above the service desk that will take your order upon entering the restaurant. They offer a 4% discount for customers who pay in cash. However, they also take card and contactless pay. What's unique and quite straightforward is that you pay right away when you order, so you don't have to worry about waiting for the check. Also, upon checkout, they have options that have the different percentages of tip calculations available on the screen for you, so you don't need to dig out your phone to calculate it - you can simply choose the option you see fit or customise it too.
