Cute little cafe tucked into downtown

While visiting SLO for the weekend, dropped into this cute cafe to try their house blend of chai. Service was amazing, from ordering to personally delivering a warm mug & egg tartine to our outdoor table. The chai, however, fell far short of expectation. While I appreciate the effort of a house blend, it sadly lacked any spice or uniqueness. It was liquid, it was brown, and it had some sweet to it. But didn't get any hint there was spice. That may be what they were going for, but it definitely won't make my list of chais to come back for. On the plus side, the egg tartine was tasty and well prepared! And we had a wonderful conversation with a local at the outdoor seating area. Overall, pleasant eating experience, but not my cuppa chai.

Discovered this place while strolling around SLO I ordered a dirty chai and the cashier was super kind. My hubby ordered a latte and we enjoyed it while relaxing in the back patio. It would have been nice to have our drinks brought to us, but the person who walks them out to you couldn't find us and I had to go and check on them myself - but that was just a minor hiccup. I'd love to return in the future. Very curious as to why this cafe didn't pop up when we searched cafes. Cashiers said that this cafe is the oldest in SLO.

REAL CAFE!!! Scent of wood and espresso upon arrival so welcoming. Posters in the window and local framed art all a welcoming sign of real community hub. So homey feeling. Housemate pastries. Full menu. Looseleaf teas. Excellent coffee. I got the gluten free olive oil cake. So moist, vibrantly fresh, and insatiabley scrumptious. So many spots to sit here: outside circular tables with umbrellas, window bar, big living room feeling space with tables and plugs and a crammed bookshelf with books and boardgames, and then the oh so charming back courtyard with many sweet seating possibilities. Love Linnea's!

Fantastic spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Not fancy, just good old fashioned diner food. Sit at the counter or wait for one of the limited number of tables. Seating both inside and out. We had a short 15 minute wait at noon on a Saturday. Not the fastest service which is fine. A great place to just relax and enjoy some comfort food.

Very cute and quaint little spot. So cozy just to sit back, have your coffee, and let the world pass you by. The baristas even bring the food right to you.

The staff was very kind. Its a bit small in the front, but plenty of spaces to sit. I got a vanilla matcha and it was still very earthy. The food was also very good! Would be back

The best food and tea. I filled up a whole punch loyalty card and will keep going back! It has the nicest back garden patio to relax on. Tables inside have outlets!

We went to try a new coffee place and it was great service great drinks and great ambiance. We wanted a drink and I ordered the ambrosia turmeric. My daughter got a ginger loose tea. She had throat issues. So she felt a little better when she finished the tea. They gave her the bag of tea and told her to put hot water in it. They had a hot water dispenser for the public to use. She added some honey and ready to drink. She even made it a little less hot and drank it faster adding some cold water. I got my hot drink. It was kind like golden milk. I asked them not to add any sugar but the drink tasted sweet. I was in a hurry so I didn't want to go back and ask. It was not too sweet, it was very good. It had the kick of the turmeric. Really enjoyed except for the doubt of the sugar in there. They had sweet pastries and also they prepared food there. The place looked very inviting to go on the back and relax for a bit. The staff were very helpful and happy. They were smiling all the time. Definitely a place to come back.

We ordered the hot chocolate and it was served with a beautiful design on top that made it extra special. The flavor could've been just a touch sweeter, but overall it was rich, comforting and perfect for a chilly evening. Such a cute little café with a cozy vibe.

Cool place some a few gluten free vegan options but more lacto-ovo options. The herbal tea is unusually good. The outdoor area is quaint. We enjoyed what we ordered. Thank you!

Loved this cozy coffee shop! Ordered a drip coffee, breakfast burrito, and almond croissant. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick. The interior was cozy and had an older coffee house vibe but the exterior back patio was fresh with beautiful greens, brick, shaded areas and fountains. The drip coffee was really good! You get 1 free refill with your cup and they let us take our free refill to go which was great. Almond croissant was classic, no notes. And the breakfast burrito was nice sized and filling. It had creamery eggs with mild salsa, roasted potatoes, and black beans - it was a different flavor than I'm used to for a breakfast burrito but still really good!

Their house-brand HONEYCO is paying above fair-trade prices for beans & using a proprietary roasting process to create some clever blends like MATTE BLACK DARK ROAST and the delicious for everyday CLASSIC ESPRESSO (freshly ground for in-house coffee drinks, along with a water-processed DECAF). Choose your favorite + original housemaid syrups (WILDERNESS w citrus, maple; SUNSHINE w citrus, cinnamon; UNITY w lavender, honey). When rating this high, I'm considering food (pastries) in addition to coffee/practices and service/ambiance, and this spot knocks it out of the park on all counts. The CORTADO (coffee-forward) is medium-roast, savory & balanced. A LAVENDER LATTE is gently floral, not too sweet, still coffee-focused. The CAPPUCCINO is comforting, a prime American version of the classic. Pastries go quickly, and I'm coming back time after time for the DARK CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY SCONE - large hunks of chocolate with tart raspberry in a doughy scone, crowned in rock sugar. Ambiance is nice and arty. The chairs aren't that comfortable, but they add to the character. Only real complaint was when they were setting up for a dj event later that evening, and kept switching back and forth between the usual quieter cafe music and the way louder music on the system the dj would use. It was past 7pm and the place was still hoppin' with groups on the outdoor patio, back room lounge and main area. It has more of a restaurant/club vibe than a coffee shop which gives it a special charm. When asked about their chai the friendly barista was happy to share that they don't use dry powder, they use a spicy concentrate. That's one plus!! But, it's not a house brew, it's basic Third Street Chai you buy off the shelf at the local grocer, chef supply, or natural foods store :( To their credit, they heat it up well and top it with a fancy cinnamon design on the milk foam. When asked if there is a local chai, the barista (who is a chai fan) couldn't think of any. This explains why the local reviews were so good for mediocre concentrate. While the chai quest was a miss here in SLO, Kreuzberg is still a pretty cool spot, with a fun, social vibe, friendly, helpful staff, and some tasty looking items on their menu (just not a stop for chai).

Should Have Known Better…read more.... I've been to the Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road a few times since my review in March 2026 and each visit earned 4 or 5 stars. Not bad! But I went back on Monday, June 8th and had a very different experience. I ordered 2 small cups of hot chai with extra foam, extra hot and 1/2 sweet. When they were done, both were "heavy" meaning they felt like there was no foam. I checked and yup...no foam. I mentioned it to the barista who said "no problem. I'll do them over". They were done quickly, but still felt "heavy". I didn't want to go back and figured "it's just me". I got into my car and tried one. It was 90% the same as before. She simply scraped a sliver of the drink off the top and added a touch of foam. Plus...the liquid was "thin" meaning she nearly scalded the drink to get it hot. The 2nd chai was the same way. And the shop wasn't even busy at the time. Everyone at the Nautical Bean is friendly and the vibe is great, but next time I'll take my own advice...even if that means going back to the barista twice to get things right.

I was excited to try and found time during a late morning to go and try. There are plenty of tables inside and outside for people to enjoy their food or study. I noticed that they have a very minimal menu which I like since it controls the quality. I ordered the iced black and white latte and a croissant sandwich. The person that took my order asked me if I wanted it to be a regular latte or a blended one. I opted for the regular one this time. It was honestly one of the best lattes I've had in the area. Food: Iced Black and White Latte (8/10): YUM! It's an iced black (dark) and white mocha latte with some whipped cream on top. There was the perfect amount of ice to the point where it wouldn't water down your coffee if you wait an hour and enough ice to where nothing was warm. There was enough milk and it didn't overpower the coffee taste of the drink. Both the mocha syrups didn't overly sweeten the drink and added a nice chocolately complement to the coffee. Croissant Sandwich (6/10): This one came with ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese sandwiched between a buttery croissant. I did wish that the eggs were salted. The ham did help add some saltiness to the overall croissant. The croissant was perfectly toasted and didn't overly flake everywhere whenever you take a bite.
