Amazing AYCE Chinese style hot pot. The quality is good and consistent for most items and the service is extremely fast. I think it is a great alternative to other hot pot restaurants like haidilao with almost similar quality but way more affordable. My favorite broth I've tried is the duck with Chinese pickled radish. Is full of umami and depth and outshines most of the other options. I felt like most items after being cooked in this broth didn't even need a dipping sauce. Meat options were also good and I enjoyed the marbled beef and lamb. There is also a wide variety of veggies, seafood, and noodles to choose from - I highly recommend the homemade noodles. It has great texture and bounce to them and is amazing with the duck broth. One con was that the sauce bar is a little lacking compared to some other restaurants. I also noticed that sometimes the quality of the meat differed between orders, as in some plates of beef had more marbling than others. The ladies cleaning were on top of it, and kept our table free of empty plates. Adults are $26.95 for AYCE + $2 surcharge for weekends + broth price isn't included = around $35-$40 per head for us! The place provided enough distance between each tables to have their privacy. The bathroom was very clean, and I saw that it was being cleaned periodically! There's plenty of parking spaces around since it was a shopping center! We got 2 broths, their house special pork broth & liu's special spicy broth. We loved both! Both broths were very flavorful! I went with a coworker to check out this place. Despite it being a late Friday night, we were able to be seated right away. Kaley was our server, and she was amazingly helpful in explaining how everything worked since it was our first time there. She was very knowledgeable and told us about the different broth options. She mentioned just how spicy some of them were so that we would have a better idea of the heat level. Kaley was also attentive, frequently asking if we needed a protein refill and offering to check on drinks that hadn't been delivered to us by the time our food arrived. She even made a couple sauces for us to try with the pork belly and lamb slices, which were phenomenal. Kaley made it an amazing experience. The food was absolutely wonderful. Came here on Friday night and we were a bit confused as there was no receptionist in the front. But everything after went well. We chose the split and they both were good. The level one was spicy (as expected) and ingredients were fresh overall. The wagyu beef was good at first but quality was different on the second round (?!). Pretty good price for AYCE hotpot! The food itself was good as all the meat and vegetables tasted fresh. The sauce bar was decently maintained and came with sides, but unfortunately their dessert soup was out that day. I would say food-wise, Liuyishou is competitive with the other hotpot spots in the area. However, I would say that Liuyishou's greatest strength is their service. There looks to be a limited amount of tables for smaller parties so parties of 4 or less may have a longer wait. Service was wonderful. The server had great recommendations and even offered to make the dipping sauce for us. Bathrooms are available towards the back. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The House Special Spicy soup base was delicious and had a nice kick to it. I'm not a fan of Szechuan spice so I'm glad it wasn't that type of spicy. Surprised there aren't more positive reviews, but I'd probably attribute this primarily to the wait time. It's BUSY. Like, BUSY BUSY. Wait time at one point in the evening was 3 whole hours. But once you get in-- this is without a doubt the best hot pot place in DFW, much better than Haidilao/Squares (and better than any place I've had in SGV in LA surprisingly which is a hotspot of Chinese Hotpot (see what I did there?) although we still have yet to try Xiaolongkan in CA and we'll report back as soon as we do. Currently tho Liuyishou is the best Szechuan hot pot we've had in the States. It's not right that a place that's AYCE can be better quality than the ala carte places. The meat was so juicy and full of flavor, even the beef tongue which looked hella dry ended up being delicious. They have this cute little stick of hard butter that melts in the mala broth as you dine which is a nice touch. Fish was amazing, marbled beef was extremely delicious too. Nothing missed, not even the little fish/shrimp packs that were cutely wrapped with a tofu skin. Make sure to get Arctic Ocean (China's way better fanta) which is perfectly suited for the delicious hot pot. Onto the sauces: everything was very clean with a sliding cover which is AMAZING you don't have people spitting into those or dropping hairs because it's designed so well. There are a lot of snacks and Chinese doughnuts (but you don't wanna eat this if u want the most from your AYCE buck heehee). Service wise our server was so freakinig kind and helped us to choose which broths and meats were worth the most bang for buck. Man genuinely wanted the best for his customers-- he put us on the fish belly broth and it was absolutely DELECTABLE. We were so impressed by this restaurant that we'd put it conclusively on the MUST-visit list in DFW. So glad they have Houston and SD locations. Went here with a group of 4. There was a bit of a wait for a table, but based on the sights and smells, it seemed worth the wait. That was the BEST decision. Our server was super friendly and attentive, and graciously explained how the restaurant worked to two of our friends who had never done hot pot before. Our server made several suggestions, helping ensure we knew all the cuisine and staff favorites on the menu (his strongest recommendation was the shrimp paste which did not disappoint). We also tried some chicken, beef, lamb, pork, shrimp, cuttlefish, fish balls, eggs, a few different kind of mushrooms, bok choy, and a bunch of other veggies. The broths were delicious - we did their two signature broths, one spicy and one not. They also have an awesome self serve bar of sauce and toppings which took all the food to another level. I think the AYCE price was $30/pp, and we left waddling out of the restaurant because we were so full of yummy goodness! I struggled cycling between disappointing and underwhelming to describe the experience I had here earlier this week. My biggest gripe with this place is the cost. I went with 5 people, and essentially the AYCE price was $30.95 per person, which I thought was reasonable. But then, we were told that the broth choices were not included in that price. What? So basically, that AYCE price doesn't include broth. Who the heck goes to a hotpot and doesn't want broth? Is this some Chinese custom I'm not aware of? We were also told if we wanted to do split pots for both sides of our table, as we had two stoves, we had to pay for 4 broths instead of 2 (aka an extra $30 or so). So we had one side with the house broth and one side with the spicy broth. This created an awkward situation where we had to pass food around from the different sides. I have never heard of an AYCE hot pot restaurant that does it like this. Then, the drinks. It's $4.99 per person for unlimited mix and match drinks that have the AYCE symbol next to them. That was nice. However, they had NO HOT TEA AT ALL. Keep in mind, we expected them to have something hot as it was 40 degrees outside and we were cold. Now, let's talk about the service. It was bad, but I could tell they were understaffed. Everyone knows that the way to get what you paid for at an AYCE place of any kind is to eat the most expensive things that are included in the price. In this case, it was marbled beef. For our first round, we ordered one portion of 4 meats and some vegetables and side items like tofu and seafood. That turned out to be a big mistake, as we finished that in five minutes and couldn't flag down a server for 20 MINUTES. Keep in mind, you only have 2 hours in the place. After that, it took another 15 minutes to get the food. We never saw that beef. They also kept mixing up orders and there were so many times we had to warn them it was not our food because they kept bringing us 10x the meat or things that we requested. I suspected it might've been a ploy to get us to pay their surcharge for leaving 500 g of items or more uneaten. It was a mess. Disregarding all of that, the only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1 is the food. The broth was very good for what it was. I couldn't find any fault in the food that we were given, I just wish we were given more of it like we had ordered instead of wasting time waiting for it. They also had a very nice sauce bar with all of the expected fixings for sauce and some extra things I'd never seen before. They also had what I assumed was some kind of bingfen (ice jelly) like dessert and fruit. At $250 without tip, it left quite a sour taste in my mouth for the service and food we received. Made a visit on New Year around 5PM and waited about 45mins. Busy place and I get why. For all you can eat, this place has good meat. The meat selection isn't much- a couple cuts of beef, 1 lamb and 1 pork but the quality of the beef is good. My husband and I enjoyed it. We got their speciality broth in level 3 and that was spicy which is good. They recommended the level 2 though. We go the chicken broth for the kids and that was good too. Pork broth wasn't bad either. There's a premium on the broth though which I didn't like but it is what it is. Would come back when it's not crazy busy. I'm making this review to inform others to avoid this restaurant. Not only was the service lacking but it made my friends and i so sick. Not just an "upset stomach", but the absolute RUNS where the bathroom was our new bff. I felt it an hour after eating and the next day had to excuse myself multiple times to blow up the toilet. It has been only 2 days and we are all still struggling. As you can see on the photo we waited at least 40 mins for a table for 3. On top of all of this, the service was below average. Our server took our order then disappeared/told us we were assigned a new server. When we asked the "new server", he calls her over and her amnesia went away and miraculously remembered we were her table (even though she took our order). We were left confused for 20 mins trying to order food. Also, Tom yum was tomato soup with ORANGES? Absolutely no. How is this place going to be an AYCE if you have to pay for the main part of the meal (the broth)? I love spicy food but not food poisoning. This is probably the best Chinese hot pot place in town. It's not too far away from squares hotpot. I will say that it has squares beat by a mile. The ingredients are so fresh here! I do feel like the broth lacks a bit of flavor however the sauce bar makes up for it. The sauce even tastes so fresh! The sauce bar had a lot of options that I have never seen at other hot pot places. Maybe I'm just new to Chinese hotpot but I know I haven't seen them before. The sauce bar also had extremely fresh fruit and other sweet, savory sides/appetizer/dessert. Service was A1!! I was thoroughly impressed. Our waitress gave us really good recommendations. HOST: Walked in just a little before 6 pm. Was told that the party in front of us took the last available so my boyfriend and I were the first on the waitlist. I then see two parties who joined after us get seated before us.. I asked the host if I was still on the wait list because I saw two parties get sat before me and he said "yeah we are waiting for one of the smaller tables to get up". Few minutes, I get a text that our table is ready but when we got to the host stand, the host said it wasn't ready and that the table had just gotten up and they still needed to clean it.... Why would you text me my table was ready and then continue to make wait.... SERVICE: started out fine, and then our server (Stella, is what was printed on our receipt) conveniently kept forgetting to check up on my table when she made her rounds. All of the items we ordered came out before the broth so we just sat there waiting for it to come out. We were given the wrong items at times and times where we never even got what we ordered. We were rarely check up on.. Our server seemed to pay more attention to the customers who spoke Chinese, and how I know this was because my boyfriend was Chinese and understood their conversions. We were there for less than an hour and lost our appetite because we couldn't get just simple service. I asked our server to cancel our last order and grab our check. You would think she would ask us why, but she just asked if we wanted ice cream... Such a shame because this place has the potential to be great if they had better service. There are only a handful of places I'm willing to drive up to Plano for nowadays, and this is one of them. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you are able to since it can get crowded around dinner time. The pork bone broth soup base is DELICIOUS and so flavorful! The spicy broths are way too spicy and we ended up having to trade it out for a less spicy version. They have a lot of unique proteins and their meats are pretty high quality. I've heard the wait time was more than two hours so I decided to go when they open at 3pm on a Wednesday and there was no line. Minus another star- They only have one restroom for men and one for women. No diaper changing station either. How can you have packed restaurant with 2 hour wait and have only one stall!
