I waited 25 min at work to try the lobsta roll in the blazing sun! The truck arrived at 11 AM as scheduled but they didn't actually "open" the truck til 11:25. I was third in line at 11 AM and by the time I ordered 25 min later, there were about 10 ppl behind me. I just ordered the lobsta roll with butter $12 and it was ready in about 5 min. The lobster is cooked to perfection but the entire sandwich is 4-5 bites! I took 2 bites and the hubby ate the rest and we both agreed that while it was packed with great flavor, the roll itself is tiny and wished they gave us more for the buck. The crew is very courteous and friendly but unfortunately, for $12 per roll, we will not be getting another lobsta roll anytime soon. read more

I tried the lobster roll with butter and a cup of New England clam chowder. The lobster roll itself was $13. I figured since it's lobster I should be prepared to pay a little more than I normally would for lunch, so I was fine with the price. Although, they should serve the sandwich in a bigger bun, which is literally 4 bites big. As for the taste and portion size of the lobster itself? It was okay, not great, but they served mostly the lobster claw meat with very little of the lobster tail - Not to mention that the lobster was a little on the chewy side. The clam chowder was only $3 and tasted great. It's served with good portions of clam and bacon, and the sauce tasted good too. Well I've done my own Maine lobster trips and had rolls in Kennebunkport, Portsmouth and a couple at the Cape and I never saw a lobster roll that small. I think Alexis b turned me onto it a few years ago lol! Now she's made me into a Clam Chowder fanatic! I know exactly what to look for and how it should be made! Their CC is out of this world!! It's so addicting! Alexis b didn't want to share to much the first time so the following week I got my own ! It has such a good texture! Its thick just like a real CC should be, not thin or watery like others. Everything was the same size (not small clams & big uneven chunks of potatoes). The people that run this truck are really nice. This truck makes some really yummy lobster rolls. They place fresh lobster on a perfectly grilled roll, and you have the option of mayo or butter. I tasted both the mayo and butter, and I have to recommend the butter. I haven't tried any of the other things, but do plan on trying the crab roll next time. It's a little pricey, but I think it's well worth it. I would be very worried if someone didn't charge a slightly higher price for it. I mean, come on, it is fresh lobster! read more

Loved the roll though I agree that the size was smaller than expected for the price. Not sure if they are the same as Cousins Main Lobster that had a food truck at the Corona Food truck festival. They don't over cook their Lobster which is easy to do and the bisque is delicious! They really use a lot of butter so don't eat if watching calories. read more

The Lobsta truck visits my apartment complex at least once a month, so I'd have friends come by and we'd pick up lobsta and crab rolls then head back to my place to eat them. I can't express how disappointed I was the last time. It's pricey...extremely pricey for a meal from a food truck. But hey, it's lobster so I was prepared to pay because it was quality, fresh and they're not stingy on the portions. Not sure what's happened, but sadly that's no longer the case. Recently I picked up food for myself and a friend. I always order the lobster so thought I'd change it up and try the crab roll. I'd also not been overly impressed with the lobster the last time. So I get the crab roll with extra meat and a cup of the lobster bisque...total $24 for my order. Lobsta Truck had gone from bad on my last visit, to worse. The roll was practically inedible! Most of my $24 went down the garbage disposal or into the trash. The crab had obviously been frozen and thawed, but not strained, so the crab was sloppy and watery which also made the Hawaiian bread roll soggy and gross. Horrible! I threw it away about 2 bites in. Next I went to the bisque. So so rich, and not in a good way. I went straight for what I thought was a lump of lobster meat, but quickly (and unfortunately) discovered it was a doughy, floury chunk. Then another one, and another one. At which point, the bisque went down the garbage disposal as well. There are lobster rolls popping up on restaurant menus all over the place now, I think I'll stick with those. read more

I finally tried this truck today for lunch. I always stayed away because of the price. The roll I ordered was basically bread toasted with butter and a little bit of lobster mixed in. The lobster was delicious. I also ordered potato chips and my total price was $15. I asked if there were any combo options but they said everything is a la carte. Tried the lobsta truck for the first time tonight. First things first, the pricing is ridiculous. And most importantly, the product itself does not taste fantastic (for the price...it should have been life changing). I tried the lobsta roll ($12). It had a lot of meat on it, but seemed to be on the edge o expiration as it smelled extra fishy. The bun was basically a flat grilled hot dog bun with butter poured all over it. Love butter? Great. Want a heart attack....get this. By absolutely no means was this a $12 sandwich. It fit in the palm of my hand for goodness sakes! Lobster Bisque ($12) tasted like butter, cream and as opposed to hand pulled bits, the lobster seemed to have been sent through a food processor. This really came out like a butter cream juice with pulp. Gross. Clam chowder ($9) was the saving grace of all if these items. It had entire clams that tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. It had a true from-home taste with the use of celery and bacon. These three items plus two cans of soda was $35! Pretty steep. At the OC Fair 7/18/13, walked up and no one was in line, I felt surprised that at 5:30 pm there was no one in line as I had read reviews with long waits, mine was ready in less than a minute, again surprised. Lobster roll w butter $12, Large chowder $7, bottle of Pepsi $2, price seemed reasonable. Roll was mostly claw meat but good, they pile it up on top of the roll to make it appear like there is more meat, about 5 bites worth and tasted good, that's it. On the other hand I spent at least 10 minutes with the chowder, mainly because it was steaming. Once it cooled down it was very good, I loved it. Good, Not Great... Very simple Lobster Roll. It is just lobster meat (big chunks!) on a buttered roll. There is also a Mayo option, but I only got the Buttered on. If you haven't had a good Lobster Roll, this is an Ok first impression. If you have had a really good one, this is mediocre at best. I had the misfortune of choosing Lobsta Truck, Irvine and the food truck event in Brea, 7/11/14. The lobsta roll was a huge disappointment! They opened late and then the service was so slow! One person taking the order and money and 2 people preparing the food. 8 customers in line ahead of me and it took 25 minutes to get to the front of the line to place my order and then another 5 minutes to receive the lobsta roll - which is simply lobster and a touch of mayo slapped on a piece of toasted bread. Note the 'roll' is bread toasted on a grill on one side - not a roll at all! The lobster was warm, which is very dicey on a hot summer day. $13 a huge waste of money. read more

Omg the best lobster roll and true to the east coast tradition. As far as being accused of being overpriced ........ Obviously they have never had to pay $23 and up in a restaurant to help cover the overhead. Not to mention some restaurants adding fillers like celery and "stuff". The one off the truck is a great value at $12 with BIG juicy chucks of lobster. A great value for the amount of lobster. Some may not get full on one roll but that doesn't mean you're not getting your money's worth. The crab roll is super flavorful too but I suggest getting both and decide for yourself. I like with butter only. PS I kinda know what I'm talking about because I've gone to their competition trucks and any restaurants I can find. The next best lobster roll I have had was in Oregon and I paid $27 with fries. Ok the wait is a little annoying when you're on a lunch break but worth the compromise knowing that it is made to order. Not sure i would want quicker service for mass production seafood that has been setting around, I'm just sayin'.......Long live the Lobsta Truck! read more

This is an authentic lobster roll, like you would find in Maine. The roll is not a slice of white bread (as suggested by other reviewers), but authentic rolls - a lot like hotdog buns with the sides sliced up so they can toast up nice and crispy. I got a lobsta roll with butter. It was delicious and anyone who can eat one in three bites has a huge mouth! For me, it was probably about 8 bites. I had a roll, a cup of bisque and a whoopie pie and I was filled up. Granted, I'm not a big eater! I think $12 is about right for this much lobster. read more

This truck splits time with Cousins at our local food truck Friday night spot. I've had the lobster roll w/butter from both trucks and this one is a little cheaper. They both tasted excellent, so comparison-wise, this one wins if we're talking about price alone. I actually went for the "extra meat" option for $5 more because... why not?! The lobster tastes fresh and the bread and butter are just as expected. When you look at a lobster roll of this size, it doesn't look like it's much of a meal, but these things pack quite a punch for what you see, especially if you add the extra meat as I did. It's obviously not going to be the cheapest meal you can find around town, but if you subscribe to the "you get what you pay for" motto, this shouldn't let you down. I'm not a big guy though, so your mileage may vary as far as fullness goes. The guy manning the truck was friendly and more than willing to have a conversation with me, probably helped by there being no line behind me at the time. Yes, it's still cheaper than what restaurants usually charge, but this is only a food truck, people! They now charge $5 more for extra meat, which I think is ridiculous with the amount of "extra meat" they added. It was only about 10% extra! I didn't get my mouth-full-of-lobsta experience.
