I came here with my family once again, and they were busy on a Saturday at noon. However, we got seated immediately. A big party reserved a section of the restaurant, and our server notified us that the kitchen was busy. Their deals also seemed to attract many others. We ordered dishes, including chicken chow mein, mustard greens with black mushrooms, and braised bean curd with brown sauce. We got the vegetable dishes first along with a complimentary soup. The braised bean curd with brown sauce was part of their discounted small-sized order menu. For a party of three, the portion size was adequate. All of the dishes tasted good, but they unfortunately forgot our chicken chow mein. We initially gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were busy preparing food for other tables. However, we later found that they forgot the dish after following up with them. While the noodles tasted good as usual, the chicken did taste bland. Come here for lunch for the first time. Ordered a few lunch specials. In addition, my party ordered an Abalone dish. I do not recommend "Wonton Noodle Soup" due to lack of taste. We asked the server for Red Vinegar and Chili Sauce. 15 minutes later the server just took the vinegar away without our consent while we are still eating. My family has been ordering the same fish dish for the past two months. We held a big family event here over the winter holiday 2025 and food was great. We had about 100 people and service went great as well. So i didn't understand the low ratings until today. Usually we have our help from William or Kate. We've been ordering this Chilean black cod fish Thai style as listed in the printed prefix menu they gave us when helping decide our event dinner. Been ordering the same dish for weeks. Both workers were not there on a Saturday night. The dish is essentially a stir fried salt and pepper dry stir fry with basil leaves. The person on the phone was not sure which item it was. Instead of saying he's not sure he asks the chef, comes back and says "ok 20 minutes." What we picked up and opened when we got home is fried fish. Sauce on the side so not even stir fried. And the sauce was a typical Chinese red sweet and sour sauce. Now this is where I decided to give the 1 star. I'll just state it now, I'm a chef with over 25 years of experience. I call to confirm the mistake of miscommunication through ordering. As I explained before, the the dish is a typical dry salt and pepper stirfry with basil or mint leaves. My mother always orders it mild. I call back explaining the concern and even the flavor and style of dish it is. Now the guy on the phone says it's because she said no spicy. Now I would understand trying substitute. But you have to verify with customer that's the order they want. The ingredients in the original dish was salt pepper and basil. And you give sweet and sour sauce on the side instead? Flavor profile are not even the same. How does the chef make a decision and instead of trying to correct the mistake,(I'm willing to drive back to just get the dry seasoning on the side) try to blame the customer instead? -- dude just say sorry for the confusion and carry on to try to fix the problem!! Again I work in the industry and i usually just ignore mistakes and don't even leave a review and move on cause my empathy to the business. BUT how it was handled after spending $24 on a dish left a bad taste in my mouth. 1-Instead of admitting they did not understand the order, (we would've hung up and not ordered and wait until next time William is working). ---But that is also part of the problem if customer service is different depending on the workers, there is no consistency. 2-Making the choice to substitute a sauce that sounds nothing like the dish described. From a chefs standpoint point-- I mean even a cook's reasoning-- salt and pepper stir fry is nowhere close to a wet sweet and sour sauce in terms of texture and flavor profile. It's completely different dish. That's like asking for soy sauce and they give me vinegar instead. 3-Instead of attempting to correct the issue to find a solution. Such as offering the seasoning ingredients on the side for me to pick up. I was willing to drive 5 miles back on a Saturday in the rain to have the problem resolved. But instead they defended their decision. At the end of the day: The dish I received was not the dish I wanted. And if any business is okay with that statement, they don't deserve to stay in business with how fragile the restaurant business is right now. I'd be surprised if they're still here in 2 years. The only redeeming decision they made was to make it sauce on the side. I threw away their "Thai style" sauce aka sweet and sour sauce. And stir fried it myself. Defeated the point of ordering food, I wasn't trying to cook on my day off. Forever lost a customer, and all potential 100+ customers we brought from the holiday event. Will never throw an event here again. But congrats to them... they were able to give me chef rage on my day off! read more

Just a quick updated review on my latest visit to Lobster Bay... My aunts threw a birthday lunch for one of my uncles. He is one of my Dad's younger brothers. There were about 30+ people so we occupied 3 tables... large, medium, and small tables LOL... not kidding. Each table was instructed to order one dish per person. My table had 11 people, but we ended up getting 13 dishes. I guess we don't follow instructions well when it comes to food LOL. It's all good. It was hard to capture the staff's attention as we were at the far corner table. However, when we did get their attention, they were very receptive and took good care of us. Thank you! All of our 13 dishes were yummy and delicious (check out photos). Flavors were on point! Portions were decent. We got the complimentary lunch soup and white rice which was nice. There was one mix up... for the bittermelon spare ribs, they made it with beef in error... no biggie, we kept the dish as is... it was quite tasty actually. I do have to call out their amazing salt and pepper shrimp as it was the most favorite dish by all counts... SO SO GOOD! There weren't any least favorites really. Everything was fantastic! Dishes were emptied as they arrived shortly to the table LOL. Great job Lobster Bay! I did have one observation... it was during lunch time on a Saturday and there weren't a lot of customers which was quite concerning. They are located within a side street so maybe people don't know they are here. Anyway, hope they do better during dinner time. Celebrated my nephew's birthday with lunch at Lobster Bay. My first time eating here and I was impressed. We arrived about 1pm and there were plenty of tables so we were seated right away. After taking our order we didn't have to wait too long before we were served soup. We asked for ice waters in the beginning but they didn't bring them until after the soup. Just a slight delay. They served a house special soup to start. Different...with red beans in it, but good. Next came the Kung Pao chicken which tasted pretty ordinary. After the tofu in Chiu Chou sauce was served warm. Deep fried tofu covered in a soy type of sauce...it was good! Next came the stir fried string beans with Minced pork. The string beans were crispy and flavorful. We wanted to try the Rice Noodles in Zhong Shan style and really enjoyed thi tasty noodle dish. The last dish served was the House special lobster with noodles. The lobster was cooked in a sauce that was a little spicy but had a really good flavor! You could order the lobster cooked in other ways but we all thought this dish was delicious! The restaurant is decorated more than your typical Chinese restaurant. They even have. Fishing net displayed and hanging at the entrance with "caught" items in it. It's large enough to have a banquet but I'm not sure if they have dividers to make them more private. My family and I ( 3 of us ) came here for a dinner on boxing day around 6PM. It was quiet, just our table and another table. As time passed by, more customers came and by the time we left around 730PM, there were 5-6 more tables of customers. Maybe its just boxing day so business was slow. This place is clean and server were friendly. At least they don't have the attitude problem you encounter at most asian restaurant. They have a couple private rooms so if you want to book a dinner and have it privately, there are options. Price wise, since this place is more toward the higher end of traditional Chinese restaurant, the range is a little higher but acceptable especially nowadays when everything is pricey. We ordered a lobster which the market price was $27/lb, a seafood soup, a dish of veggie and a dish of egg tofu. Total came out to be $178 without tips. Do I think its worth it? Not really. Not because the food is bad but i can find another place that cost cheaper but better taste or food. They don't have alot dish options as well. At least they don't have something that stands out or other places don't offer. Their food is average / decent and there is nothing I can complain about or wave about. This is my favorite place to get lobster in Rowland Heights! I was surprised to see the current rating and how empty it was when I visited the restaurant. Lobster Bay can be a bit pricey but it is lobster after all. Plus, the quality of the food makes it all worth it. The app isn't letting me post a picture for some reason but I ordered the house lobster with garlic noodles. This is a MUST do in my opinion if you visit this restaurant. The lobster was fresh, juicy, and went well with the flavor profile of garlic noodles. You could order other items such as their honey walnut shrimp and calamari, but just getting lobster could be enough for a small party. The one downside of eating here is that parking is a bit crowded. Lobster Bay shares a small parking lot with a popular hot pot spot so parking can be competitive and carpooling I'd recommended. However, I think it is worth it if you only go once in a while. I hope this place is able to stay open despite how few people were there when I visited. The staff does not care about your requests. We asked for extra crispy intestines and we get wet intestines on the table. :/ anyways, please staff up so everyone can have an okay dining experience. I don't think that this restaurant deserves an average of 3 stars. Its interior is prettier than most, their utensils are squeaky clean, and the price of their lobster is lower. The service was excellent. A man who seemed to be the manager was very helpful, changing our dishes multiple times throughout our meal and asking how things were. We came here for the House Special Lobster because Newport Seafood was closed. Their lobster was pretty good, I enjoyed the amount of lobster egg (roe) that were fried along with the chili and green onion. The lobster here has a slightly thicker coating of cornstarch batter than Newport does. My qualm with this dish is the buttery flavor of the sauce. The seasoning was great but the milk flavor was very forward-- it tasted like they put in one whole stick of butter during the frying process. We also ordered prawns with snap peas, which were coated in a light, garlicky sauce. I enjoyed the flavor profile of this dish, and it tasted like the vegetable dish we ordered (Yuchoy). However, the prawns were tiny. I associate "prawn" with a more sizable shrimp, so this was a bit disappointing. We also ordered Clams in black bean sauce. The black bean sauce was impeccable (its hard to mess up). I think the clams were a bit too fishy and pungent, so I would order a fish in black bean sauce next time. This joint deserves a little more credit, and a lot more customers. Their lunch prices seem like a steal, so I'll probably stop by again. read more

Lucky for us that restaurant happened to be closed for their employees lunch otherwise we wouldn't have found Lobster Bay! Nasty food experience. Ordered the sweet and sour fish, but it was $50 for a small/thin fish just drenched in the sauce. The fried intestine had that heavy scent when you bite into it. At other places, the intestine is carefully cleaned so when you taste it you won't taste the pungent odor. The fried wings tasted spoiled, poor food prep/temp. I believed the chicken was not stored correctly, like it was sit out in room temp for a while too long. Rice, tea, soup were decent, though.
