Their Sunday brunch is really unique and really, really good. First of all, if you've never been here before it's a bit tough to find. Local 3 is located in the bottom of what looks like a large apartment complex. The signage wasn't very good, although there were some banners hanging on poles out front (that I didn't see until after I got lost) Basically you turn in south of the apartment complex and then once you drive back a ways, you'll see signs for Local 3 that will lead you to the parking garage. Then it's just a quick walk through the building following the signs. For brunch, they have a $19, all-you-can eat buffet with a very unique setup. Guests actually walk back into the kitchen, are handed a large plate, and serve themselves. The chefs are right there in the kitchen cooking and putting out the food. The soft scrambled eggs and bacon were solid. I really enjoyed the shrimp and grits, goat cheese crostinis, arnold palmer pancakes, and the peanut butter french toast. Oh - and the brownies were excellent...I might have had two. Everything was really good. The portions were actually pretty small, which is good because it lets you try everything without feeling sick from eating too much. I actually left having tried every dish and only feeling a little too full (my own fault) I definitely recommend Local Three's brunch if you're looking for a really good brunch with a unique twist. read more

Local Three is in a neighborhood that I've never been to or am familiar with. Even the restaurant is tucked away in a residential/hotel building and hard to find. However once inside, it's a hip atmosphere. The bar to the back and a large dining room with wood accents. The ambiance is masculine, in a good way. Upon being seated, I asked our server for a glass of water with no ice. The menu is short and appropriate for a restaurant of this style. There were some dishes on the daily special menu while the bulk of the main entrees had a variety of meat dishes. There were few starters as well as some plates to share. We ordered a variety of dishes. I ordered a homemade tortellini, another ordered the hungry man, 3rd person ordered the scallops and 4th person ordered the macaroni & cheese. All three of my companions ordered the poached vanilla pear salad. One of them also ordered homemade buns. On Mondays Local Three offers a flip a coin deal where if a table chooses to partake, the manager brings out poker chip-looking coins, allows one of the guests to choose a coin and call heads or tail. The concept allows the guests to get a bottle of wine for $1 or regular price depending on the outcome of the flip. Between the 4 of us we chose a bottle that was $40. Sadly it wasn't our luck of the draw because we didn't win. I believe this offer is only for select bottles of wines on Mondays. Our food was served timely with the rolls and salads coming out first. Unfortunately two of the three women did not care for their salads. They suspected mayonnaise or sour cream to be the key ingredient in the dressing and didn't care for the taste. The rolls were nice and warm and tasted fabulous. My main entree of tortellini was 4 or 5 pieces with sauteed pork belly and sliced leeks. Overall the filling for the pasta was delicious especially with the pork belly and leeks however I was, once again, disappointed in the execution of the pasta. The edges were too thick and tasted underdone (not al dente). We were all surprised by the hungry man plate because it was actually a dinner plate with compartments, like the hungry man tv dinner, which included baby carrots, mashed potatoes, a roll, braised short ribs and a brownie. She said the short ribs were fine however everything else was very salty. The individuals that ordered the scallops and macaroni & cheese raved about their food. Oh my word. What a great night! First of all, the atmosphere of the dining space is comfortable and the design is smart and artsy. As an appetizer we had the truffle parmesan popcorn...we could have asked for 3 more bowls of that stuff. Popcorn perfection. We had heard that the McDowell burger was THE burger to get in Atlanta. It lived up to the expectation and then some. It's a playful homage to the Big Mac and was so very delicious (way better than the actual Big Mac in case you wondered). Our server was kind and attentive, and when we lost our parking validation, one of the managers let us out of the parking garage. It was a really nice lasting impression. I recently visited Local Three for a party for a friend. The set up was perfect with multiple bar space inside and on the patio. The ambiance was great and there is plenty of room for 300 plus guests (who could imagine?) The location is a little tucked away if you're not familiar with the Buckhead Area of Howell Mill but very convenient to those in Vinings, Buckhead or the Westside. I had my first meal there this week. I had a meeting in the area so we decided to meet for lunch over there. The set up is very nice for regular restaurant hours. The service was superb and the Burgers are AMAZING. They go the extra mile and everything even tasted all natural. Prices weren't bad all things considered and it wasn't too crowded making it a perfect place to be for a working lunch. read more

First time visiting this establishment. My wife and I walked around the complex for a few minutes trying to find the right door but once we got inside we were greeted by an Elvis picture and I knew everything was going to be alright. We got an assortment of tasty treats: the mushroom salad, lamb ribs app, arctic char (me), and halibut (wife). The salad was great and the lamb ribs were good but not the best version I've had. My arctic was really delicious, with the smoked mussels really setting it apart. For dessert we had s'more chocolate mousse, which was really good. Overall, this place has a great menu and nice bar as well. The service was good, even if our server did seem a little distracted at times with the busy vibe. I would definitely go back to try some of the other menu items that caught my eye (ie coca cola glazed pork carnitas, duck sausage and fried chicken thighs). read more

MY STARS! Hear me out on this one. Like Southern Art, this is one of those places that never gets mentioned in the big-times, but is totally deserving of it. Let's discuss. Admittedly, it's a little crazy to get to. BD and I wandered around the office/parking/whatever facility for a hot couple of minutes before we figured out where to go. Walking into the building, I felt like I was in a palazzo or some nonsense. Cool, but unexpected. They have these awesome pig figures once you make it into the restaurant. Not gonna lie, I considered stealing one of them and taking it home with me. So quirky and cool. I wish on my life that I could remember our servers name. She is blonde, and pretty, and earnest-looking, and one of the most calm, kind, knowledgeable people I've seen in a restaurant. Broke the menu down Barney-style after hearing it was our first time, and made smart recommendations based on two things: what was popular with diners, and her personal favorites based on things she likes. I LOVE THAT. I love when servers take the time to do things like that. Delightful. I am incapable of finishing a complete entree these days, so I ended up getting two appetizers instead. I had been lusting after a lobster roll, and wasn't finding anywhere in the city that had one, so when I saw it on the menu here, I knew I had to go with a quickness. I will say this: there are most assuredly some New Englanders in the kitchen, and I've never been more glad. Plenty of Red Sox hats, and that lobster roll was obviously made by someone who grew up eating them. Totally perfect. Served with house-made potato chips. Never better. I also ordered the Creamy Corn Soup, which really wowed both BD and me. It had such an airy, light, foamy texture, with great flavor, and, uh, pork belly croutons. So there. I got through almost my entire bowl (which is deceptively large, btw) BD ordered the Short Rib appetizer, which was perfectly tender and topped with a green tomato relish that was so great. He ordered the rabbit as his entree, and we were both extra excited and impressed. Yum. For dessert, we split the Lemon Semolina cake, which was served with the most delicious lavender honey and fresh blackberries. Perfect. They also happen to have a great bourbon list, and the bartender makes a great mocktail if you're unable to drink anything exciting. I'm a cheese nerd, so the cheese plate looked so yum, but I did not have enough room to order it this time. The other cool thing about this place is that not only do they separate their main menu into snacks, apps, and mains, but they do the same with their dessert menu! I hate huge desserts (I'm the only one, I know), so it was nice to have options. The patio looked beautiful, and we had an early enough reservation (6:30 on a Saturday) that it wasn't too loud for most of our meal. Came here for brunch: I love brunch buffets; they have a great variety of things in their buffet and I enjoyed everything I tried! There were a few items with pork in it, which of course I didn't try-- but overall everything else I got was pretty good! Can't complain! We had reservations but we still ended up waiting 45 mins to get seated. Once seated, we pretty much attacked the buffet! They refill items pretty quickly, so don't be disappointed if what you want has run out -- check back in a few minutes and they will have some more for you! The buffet bar is located in the kitchen, which is an interesting concept. But it's right in front of the chefs so they know immediately when the food items are running low! We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away (yes!). It was really busy and yet our service was excellent and on point. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made suggests without being overbearing. We never had to ask for refills and I was really impressed with not only our waiter but the courtesy of other staff. My dinner was really good and the peach salad he recommended was really tasty :) The dessert menu looked really great and the waiter pointed out his favorites and described each of them. We decided to go with the chocolate cake and it was pretty good and moist as described. You should definitely check it out if you get the chance. read more

A hidden gem! Ambiance, food, and service were excellent. So glad this came up on Open Table as an option. It's a little hard to find, you have to enter into an office complex and then find your way into the building lobby. Great cocktail and wine choices. Outside patio seating available. Our kids (7 and 11) liked it too although I wouldn't call it a family restaurant. Great for friends, a date, or a business dinner. After management saw my less-than thrilling previous review, I was invited to come back and try the restaurant again. My husband and I decided to go back and it was a much more pleasant experience. However, I can't let myself give 5 stars and here is why-- My first experience was a party of 7; this time it was just my husband and I. My first experience we ordered several rounds of drinks, appetizers, and entrees; my husband and I only drank water and had simple entrees. Was our service better? Heck yes it was, but again, I can't judge fairly as the experiences were totally different. For the food--on my first trip I had a much more (as some people would say) sophisticated dish of scallops and grits. On my second trip, my husband and I both ordered the burger. We are both huge fans of Local Three's sister restaurant's (Muss & Turner's) burger and were curious. It is a fun take on the Big Mac with diced onions, American cheese, and a fancy 1000 island-like sauce. We are huge burger critics and this burger was pretty darn good. My husband in particular was absolutely in love. The fries too, were amazing by his standards. They also load you up with fries, I'd say 2/3 of my plate was covered with fries, I did not leave hungry we can say that. Overall, a much better experience. The only reason Local Three did not receive the full 5 stars from my upon my return was simply because I did not give them the chance to earn it (I know, not fair) because we didn't order multiple drinks or appetizers. We just had a great dinner here with friends and I am happy to recommend it to others. PROS: Tons of bourbons to choose from. Also, delicious food. We had an awesome poached pear salad, a savory pork terrine with cranberries, crispy brussel sprouts, and seared scallops. I liked it all. Service was also engaged without being overbearing. CONS: The place is a little on the loud side and the restaurant is a bit pricey. Neither of which were deal breakers, but they are worth mentioning in order to temper expectations. I am looking forward to going back again as their menu changes regularly. Why am I JUST now finding this place? They've been open for 4 years now! I'm kind of upset, but I'll get over it. I enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch with a really great server this weekend. The fact that you can walk through a portion of their enormous kitchen is pretty awesome. They served sweets, savory items, traditional breakfast items, and lunch-type items. There was everything from kale salad to strawberry panna cotta to biscuits with gravy and chicken confit. Besides the delicious food on the buffet, I love that you are able to chat with the chefs if you have questions. The BEST thing about the buffet is that everything is fresh. They only set out about 5-10 servings of each dish so that everything is at the correct serving temperature when you dish it out onto your plate. My wife and I originally came in on NYE and had a bit of trouble with some service mixups, but we let the management know and they went out of their way to take care of us in every way. We came back with a slightly larger group for a business dinner and it was phenomenal. The host staff was pleasant and brought us to our table in minutes, our server was attentive but not overly pushy, everyone was very friendly. And then the food. It is fantastic. I was a tiny bit under the weather otherwise I would have delved into the amazing bourbon list they have, but the cocktails are stellar and the food is fantastic from start to finish - popcorn and brussel sprout starters are amazing. I thought this place overrated based on my experience last night. The canned beer they offered in lieu of the draft beer they were out of was a "hoppy Pilsner"...if I wanted hoppy beer, I would have ordered an IPA. No glass was offered to drink the beer from. Good beer list. $0 corkage fee is always a plus. We shared a number of apps. The popcorn was a waste of time and money. The beet salad was well done. The duck fat fried pickles were grease laden; so much so that many were left uneaten. I guess the restaurant found a way to charge for a bread (the soft pretzels) rather than serving complimentary bread. 5 out of 6 entrees were well regarded. We were only on Atlanta for a week so our first stop for Sunday night dinner was Local Three and we couldn't have been more pleased. Before the meal was over, we were plotting our return. We chose the restaurant to get local cuisine and there was not only something for everyone, but the menu tweaks your adventurous side. Every appetizer, cocktail, entree, dessert was uniquely flavored and cooked to perfection. The pistachio cheesecake in particular, is going to haunt me for quite some time. The carmelized figs with the agnolotti melted in my mouth. I also can't say enough good things about the service. Decided to check this place out for the first time today. I really enjoyed the dining space. It's a lil tough to find the restaurant and where to park to get there. The signage should be a lil clearer in my opinion. This place has a very large menu. Most items looked appetizing but it looks like a lot to execute. My food was good but a lil on the cold side. Sweetbreads were not so crunchy to have been labeled "popcorn". The hen of the woods salad was tasty but hardly seasonal right now which was I thought the aim of the restaurant. The cranberries in it are a very nice contrast to the earthy mushrooms and bitter radishes. Overall a nice dish and good experience in my first try. Looking forward to going again. read more

We came a few months back for brunch (which was also very good) and had been meaning to come back to try it for dinner. This review is for the dinner service. The menu is packed with interesting dishes. Everything we tried was very good. We started out with the truffle parmesan popcorn and the crawfish dip, and we finished both dishes in no time. Our second course was a cesar salad and the lamb meatballs; again both were delicious. We had another course with shishito peppers and the guancelli tortelli; again both awesome, but the tortelli was probably the highlight of all the dishes we tried. We finished with a chocolate pudding desert that was topped with caramel and candied peanuts. Awesome food, great staff, cool atmosphere, and 160 bourbons to choose from. What's not to love?! Drinks: Here is where I fell in love. The pure amount of Bourbon they have is astounding. And the staff was great about recommending certain drinks. Walked into a relatively empty restaurant, but packed by the time we left! Cool rustic modern decor with a HUGE whiskey collection! Can't wait to be back for happy hours at that bar. *Brussel sprouts - oh so good. crispy. and that sauce really put it over the top. got greedy and got seconds and then last bits. *Georgia trout salad - when in Georgia, eat Georgian food? The trout was good and the salad nicely dressed. the croutons were garlicky goodness *Sweet tea - wasn't as sweet as every one warned me to be. Local Three is located in some weird business complex, but man, if you can find it, it is worth the search. They even held onto my wallet after I lost it there, and I would have been stuck in the Southeast for 3 months without and form of cash! Praise the Lord and Local Three for great food and great service. This was my first dining experience in Atlanta on my way through from Texas, and it provided a solid lunch. Nothing really stood out, but with unique and local grub at low prices, I am happy. I get suckered in by any of those 3 aspects. The pimento cheese was what I was looking forward to, but it was not super exciting. I would have preferred it less dip-like, and more rustic with shreds of cheese. Nonetheless, the flavor had the perfect balance of salty and sweet. The house-made pickles on the side were perfect, not too sour. The Gunga Galunga (unique sandwich names at Local 3) was unique and tasty. It was a pulled lamb BBQ sandwich with a cucumber slaw and a touch of feta. The flavor was gamey and grassy, and the soft brioche-like bun held up well. Great take on a pulled pork. The chicken pot pie was solid. The biscuit was moist, though I would have preferred a bit more hard crust with it. The chicken was super tender, and the veggies held up well in the cream sauce. My favorite part of lunch? The fries. Ridiculously crispy and well seasoned. I could have sworn they used bacon fat... Go try them for yourselves; mind-boggling. Local Three is a really cool hidden gem of an eatery in a sort of business-like area, and you should definitely go before you need a reservation for lunch. Everytime I come back to this place it keeps getting better. This time we came early for happy hour on a Saturday. Lauren and I enjoyed $5 manhattans and cabernets, a tremendous deal. We were also treated to all the parmesan truffle popcorn we could eat. Talk about addictive. Now this is the second time we've visited the bar in the last few months and we already feel like regulars. The ladies behind the bar were so kind and took good care of us. This time we munched on the general tso's rabbit and the "BFD" - breakfast for dinner. The rabbit was perfect. The rabbit was so tender and was similar to chicken thighs. The sauce was sweet and spicy, the forbidden rice was pleasantly aldente and the broccoli still had a nice crunch. The BFD was braised and seared pork belly, sous vide egg, and johnny cakes w maple syrup. Combine all those ingredients and you have the most perfect bite. read more

First visit to Local Three. Getting there was a snap as there was significant signage from the road, to the parking garage, to the actual restaurant. What a big help! The staff was eager to help us get started, quick escorting us to our seat. The wait staff was awesome! Laid back, friendly, but full of knowledge of the menu. And the knowledge is deep. No "memorize the specials" here, only staff that knew the menu inside and out, and was prepared to draw parallels to what you may or may not be familiar with. I had the Sauerbraten. Wonderful kielbasa-like sausage poached in a pickling juice. Amazing. Perfect portion, and fresh, creative taste. The chocolate French toast was decadent, but not obnoxious. I gave the waiter hell about his Yankee cap, and he returned it well. I appreciated it. Four stars due to cost. Got out of there for just over $100.00 with tip. Wish I'd had an unlimited bank account and 5 more hours to spend there. I will be back. read more

The restaurant had a nice vibe very rustic and modern . The food and drinks are pretty good. We sat at the bar and the thing we didn't like was our waiter / bartender there were 3 of them working the bar but only one was getting our drinks and food and he was the least friendliest bartender we have encountered. We had to keep asking for drinks and to order food not once was he checking on us. It was pretty annoying. We even agreed not to tip him 25 percent which is what we always like to tip when we go out. I highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance and decor is amazing and different than a lot of places. It is upscale, but not to the point of where you have to dress to the nines. We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We waited maybe 5 minutes for our waitress, but we were not in a hurry and honestly didn't even notice the time it took for her to greet us. Logan, our amazing waitress, felt that we waited too long and gave us free dessert and drinks as an apology. I went to Local Three for the first time last week...then I went for my second visit that same week if that says anything. I think LT is such a great addition to Buckhead, where amidst a dozen or so high-end Steakhouses and two-dozen fine dining joints, there is such a lack of mid-priced "sit and stay" type restaurants. The vibe is so fun and uber masculine with barnwood floors, dark woods, and industrial lighting. I also love the huge bar and drink list to match, as being the wine hoe that I am, I can just sit tight and bug the bartender with questions a gogo. I played it safe with the food and only ordered a few apps, all of which were great; beet salad, which I recognize is hard to mess up. I also had dry-aged waygu beef, eggs and bacon, and the polenta and mushrooms, which I thought was lacking salt but it very well could be that I am just a sucker for sodium, as my hubby thought it was delicious and he apparently has killer taste. Once again, one of the best meals I've ever had. We just celebrated our anniversary there and it was amazing!! Yes, we had a lot - truffle popcorn, meat plate, cheese plate, potstickers, pork loin and beef Wellington. I mean, each bite was just as amazing as the last. The service is also impeccable. We had reservations for 2, and we did not get seated until 2:30. I was not sweating it, but the manger, who was tatted up, came to us and apologized when we did not complain. He also took 50% off our meal, and he did not charge us for our drinks that we had at the bar before our table was ready. He said we only had 30 more minutes before they closed the buffet line down, and he recommended that we stack up on our plates. When I went to the kitchen to fix my plate, they had some old school Earth Wind and Fire playing. When I went through the second time, they were rocking Al Green. Usually when you go through a buffet line, the employees seem like they don't give a damn. However, theses young cats were friendly and courteous. The bacon was the bomb! They had turkey paninis with broccoli that were also great. They fix southern food with a flare. The mac and cheese had a different kind if cheese, but it was good. I could not get with the egg concoction. They had something with cauliflower and cheeses that was also good. They also had a unique twist on shrimp and grits. I had my cousin's baby shower at Local Three last month. Alice Price helped me get it all set up and was so helpful with all of my questions. We used the Bushwood room and it was perfect. The room is not connected to the restaurant. It has the feeling of having your own private event space. You never have to go into the restaurant at all. The restrooms are outside of the restaurant so it is perfect for any gathering you have. I decided to go with the Brunch and it was EXCELLENT! The options were great and the food was very good. Katie was our server and took care of us for the event. She remembered everyone's name...a major plus! She was very attentive and answered every question or concern with a smile. The only downside (and this is a stretch) was finding the restaurant itself. It's in an office building and if you have never been, it can be a little tricky. I was fortunate enough to have my best friend go ahead of time and she sent all the directions ahead of time that I can send to all the guests. Overall I had a great experience with great food and service. I highly recommend Local Three for any events or parties! read more
