There's a certain kind of restaurant that doesn't try to reinvent anything it just takes the familiar language of seafood, cocktails, and late-afternoon noise and speaks it fluently. Loch Bar fits that category, but what separates it from the pack is execution and energy. It feels alive in the way only a well-run bar-restaurant in a high-traffic district can feel: polished, but never sterile. We came in on a Saturday lunch service, the kind of in-between hour where the bar is already awake but the night crowd hasn't arrived yet. The space sits comfortably in the Galleria corridor, dressed in a way that suggests money but doesn't scream it. Brass, glass, and a kind of curated coastal aesthetic that works better in practice than it sounds on paper. It's a room designed for long meals that slowly turn into longer drinks. The table started with variety because that's really the only way to do a place like this justice. The chicken and sausage gumbo arrived first, though "gumbo" feels like a polite translation. This wasn't a thin, dark roux-heavy New Orleans classic. It leaned thicker, more stew-like, closer to comfort food than tradition. Rich, hearty, and slightly reinterpreted. Purists might argue, but flavor doesn't ask permission. From there, the table kept moving: mussels in a white wine-style preparation, clean and aromatic; lettuce wraps with skirt steak that hit that sweet spot between freshness and charred beef; bread service that did exactly what bread service is supposed to do disappear quickly and make you consider ordering more; potato skins elevated with caviar, a dish that sounds like excess but lands as indulgence done with intention. The real strength of Loch Bar, though, isn't just the menu it's the range. The oyster selection alone feels like its own ecosystem, a reminder that someone in the kitchen actually cares about sourcing and variety rather than defaulting to the safe middle ground. It's the kind of seafood program that invites repetition, not just curiosity. Behind the bar was John Ross a bartender with two first names and the kind of presence that makes a busy room feel personal. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without lecturing. The drinks came with quiet confidence, and more importantly, so did the recommendations. Good bartenders don't just pour they steer. He did both. What stood out most, though, wasn't just the food or even the service it was the room itself. The bar was alive in that Saturday way: conversations spilling over, strangers slipping into dialogue, the low hum of people who are exactly where they want to be for the next couple of hours. We ended up talking with other patrons without forcing it. That doesn't happen in every restaurant. It either has that social gravity or it doesn't. By the time we left, the place had fully shifted into afternoon rhythm still relaxed, but with the sense that the night was being quietly assembled in the background. Loch Bar doesn't try to be profound. It just understands its lane: seafood, cocktails, atmosphere, and a room that knows how to hold people.
We picked Loch Bar for a Friday date night, in part because of an offer they had in the InKind App. The restaurant is located in the same complex at Equinox and many high end shops. You can valet at the front for 10 dollars or parking in the parking garage for free. We made our reservation for 6:30 because they do happy hour from 3-7 every day. However, I was disappointed to hear that they only offer happy hour at the bar, not in the main dining area. The menus were way too big for our small table, so we quickly chose what food we wanted so we could get rid of them. We ordered 3 raw oysters (best bite- great quality and set up), the cream of crab soup (tasty but also so rich), the chicken and shrimp gumbo (decent) to start. We also ordered the tuna poke (wouldn't recommend and needed a cracker/ vessel), the mussels (large portion but lacked flavor), the fried lobster tail (honey butter flavor was unique but was way too rich) and the crab cake sandwich (fine and great crab chunks, but nothing special). Our server was very nice and attentive, even when her coworkers dropped the ball. She went and found us bread when it didn't arrive. Our waters were always filled. We sat by the front door and the waitress computer station. During this time, a man was very frustrated with a service charge on his bill and was fussing at the manager right next to our table. The manager was sweet and took a moment to apologize to us for the commotion and sent us a complimentary passion fruit creme brûlée. It was really tasty (another best bite) and we appreciated the gesture. I would come back for oysters and a drink, but I can't say I'll be craving another full dinner in the future.
We decided to check out Loch Bar on Valentine's Day. Reservations were made weeks in advance for a table of four. Valet is available for a fee, otherwise you can do garage parking within a short walk. It was pouring rain and though the valet had umbrellas, they had me standing in the pouring rain while they got my phone number so they could send me a link to pay for my parking. They have a really nice patio out front facing Westheimer. The check in area was a little crowded especially since it was Valentine's and the weather outside, so getting through to our table was a little rough. Customer service was great. Dee was our server and he did an amazing job from start to finish. He was friendly and gave great suggestions. Our drinks, apps and entrees came out with a quickness as well. I also like that on certain days, they have live music. Even when the live music wasn't happening, they play some good jams and the place stays lively. They had it nicely decorated for the holiday as well. I started off with one of their Valentine's drink specials called You, Me, and whiskey. It was their take on an old fashioned complete with flowers inside. It was good and a generous pour. As far as the menu goes, seafood is their thing, but they have non seafood options as well. For an appetizer, we shared the Crispy Calamari. Portion was kind of small for the price but it tasted really good. For my entree, I went with one of the popular items, the Blackened Redfish. The dish was kind of sloppily plated for a fine dining establishment. To me, the dish had good flavor, but I felt the temps were off. It was just warm and I felt the fish was slightly overcooked. Maybe they premade things to get the crowds in and out on a busy night. When the check came, there was a little sticker shock. The prices online and the ones posted on their actual menus are way off. Now I don't mind paying for a good meal, but they should really be consistent with what they put online and what they actually charge. They also auto gratuity even for a table of four. Just a few things that made my visit here less than stellar. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon.
(4/5) Loch Bar has a nice, relaxing vibe, especially if you grab a seat at the bar. Our bartender, John Ross, was friendly and easy to talk to. He even reminded me of Childish Gambino (Donald Glover)! We ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo (a little spicy ), the complimentary rolls (so tasty!), potatoes with caviar--which reminded me of my bestie eating caviar with potato chips ... bad and bougie! --the mussels and frites, and the lettuce wraps. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely be back! And a bonus: Happy Hour is every day from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. If you're looking for great food, good drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere, Loch Bar is worth checking out.
Loch Bar's Happy Hour menu is great with a large variety and definitely shareable. The host greeted and gave us a warm welcome. Our favorite dishes were the calamari and the beef tenderloin chops. While the moules/mussel frites didn't quite hit the spot for me, the overall dining experience was great. Perfect for date night or girls night out. It is also very dark inside.
Loch Bar Happy Hour is a hit!!! On a random Wednesday, my boyfriend and I decided to go to this happy hour (that I've seen good things about on social media). It's always 50-50 seeing viral spots online, but I decided to give it a try since the menus I saw online seemed promising. Loch Bar is located in River Oaks - when you first pull in, you'll have to look for the parking garage behind the restaurant for free parking. The front lot is just for valet ($10 valet). The garage is not a far walk from the restaurant, you'll just need to drive up 3 floors to get to free parking/non-reserved parking. It was not busy on a Wednesday at 5pm. It's open bar seating, and thankfully there were spots at the bar. There were two menus - a special oyster menu (discounted $1 oysters, originally $1.50 on regular HH days, other specialty oysters + grilled oysters for $2.50 which is a steal) and the normal HH menu. I was SO excited to see $1 oysters! I haven't found a place in Houston that generously serves dollar oysters. They were sweet, briny, and came with toppings like vinegar, lemon, tabasco, cocktail sauce, and horse radish. I order a second round after I finished the mere 4 I initially ordered. They varied in sizes, some smaller, some big. Other items I ordered: - Brussel Sprouts 4.5/5 -- these were delish! For me, a little heavy on the honey. They were pretty sweet, but my boyfriend loved them because they were that way. The red peppers they garnish on top are spicy, as a warning lol. - Loch Burger (split between 2 people) 4/5 -- double patty burger. This burger was standard. It wasn't bad. Good for the price and juicy as well. - Cheesy Tater Tots 5/5 -- Not your typical tots, they were layered and deep fried and slightly cheesy. You only get 5 pieces, but they complemented the burger nicely. They even put caviar to top! Granted, it didn't have much texture aside from being salty, but still, very fancy. The service was great. Our waters were filled at all times, and the bartenders were attentive. Only downside was, I think they gave pull apart bread with butter to some people, but we didn't get any when we sat down. I didn't see it on the menu, so not sure if they just missed us. Highly recommend this spot for a happy hour spot to chit chat and have a change of pace to your weeknight, all without breaking the bank and having good food!
$5-$10 bites for happy hour and pretty generous portions. We came towards the end of happy hour and were seated outside on the patio. Heaters were very warm! Service outside was a little on the slower side but our food and drinks came out relatively quickly. Great ambiance for a date or happy hour! - Crushed drinks: tastes like a highball, not too strong. - Moules frites: big fan of the white wine sauce, perfect for dipping bread in. Mussels were on the smaller side and fries were a little disappointing. - Brussels sprouts: so heavenly! Loved the sweetness. - Calamari: not bad but I wouldn't order it again, was on the saltier side. - Oyster shooters: would recommend the vodka over Houston style (beer) but that is personal preference! Overall great vibes will definitely be back for happy hour.
Yum, had a great experience at Loch Bar! We stumbled in after some shopping and were pleasantly surprised to find it was happy hour on a Saturday (3-7 daily!). We were greeted by kind servers and started with complimentary pull-apart bread and butter (amazing). Our table shared the chicken and sausage gumbo (slightly too peppery for our taste, but still so good and I'd absolutely order it again), moules frites, and the Loch Bar burger. The burger was the clear standout. Piled high yet somehow light with every bite rather than overly dense. Paired with a $6 draft beer, it made for a fantastic lunch. The daytime vibe was lovely with the windows open, but I feel like this spot would shine in the evening with the lights low. Can't wait to go back!
Literally the happiest hour on earth! Move over, Disney, there's a new happy place in town! Located in the beautiful Galleria row of high end and luxurious shops and restaurants, the Loch Bar is just another place to be and be seen. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious! The raw oysters for $1 each was the major win here. I posted the pic of the HH menu and literally ordered everything on there with no regerts. The drinks were also delicious, however, I would skip the oyster shooter with vodka. Yuck! Otherwise, the HH value, service, great tasting food and beautiful ambiance are the total package. Now, Loch it in and get your Happy!

Cute place with a GREAT happy hour! Visited Houston for a work trip and stumbled upon this place after looking for Happy Hour deals. Keep in mind it's only for the Patio and Bar areas, but there was plenty of seating. The venue was beautifully decorated and had an elevated vibe to it. My waiter was great as well. The only issue I had was that when I asked if it was possible to order a small side salad, he said yes, and it turned out to be the full sized salad listed on the menu as $15. I thought the size was weird when it initially came out, but didn't think anything of it... & didn't realize it was the full salad until the bill came. I felt like a bit of transparency would've been great. Other than that, the Oysters on the Half Shell and the Moules Frites were delicious. As well as the complimentary bread. All in all I had a pretty good experience here. I would probably come back and make sure to ask clarifying questions.
I've come here twice now for happy hour and I love! I've actually had the same server (Dwayne) both times and he is incredible! Super knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. The vibe is definitely upscale. Perfect for a girls night or a date night. They even have live music on Saturday nights. And the happy hour?!? Every single day from 4-7 plus reverse happy hour from 10-1 on Sundays and Monday's I believe? So I've tried the oysters (which was my first time trying raw oysters and I think I prefer them chargrilled), the beef tenderloin (perfect), and the calamari (on the saltier side but also delicious). For drinks I've tried the sparkling house wine which I enjoyed, the lemon drops, and a French 75 which all were tasty, and more importantly, STRONG. Plus it comes with free bread which has this delicious compound butter on top - so good. Definitely need to come back to try more things on their menu :)

Always a great time at loch bar! The food is as consistent as the service! To be honest I don't always love the live music choices but when it's good it's great! The lobster roll is an absolute must have! The calamari is a 6/10 pretty good but lacks flavor. read more

Just wanted to jot down the middle note to myself about my recent trip to Loch- wow what an absolutely incredible time I had there! Seriously their happy hour is simply phenomenal; I genuinely think it might be the best one I've experienced in ages. Everything about the visit was just spot on the food was utterly delicious, really hitting the mark and the drinks? Went here with friends for happy hour on Veterans Day, they took 50% off the entire tab. We tried the ceviche, calamari, Siracha Brussel sprouts and four dozen oysters. There was a short wait, roughly 15 mins before we got sat down outside. They had live music playing, and people were generally enjoying the whole vibe. read more

Came here for a private event. Loved the interior decor and the layout of the venue. Our menu included crab cakes which was delicious. The avocado toast was also flavorful. The fried oyster was delectable. The one item I had mixed reactions about was the shrimp and grits. The sauce had a distinct and strong aftertaste that didn't leave me satisfied. But the first part of the dish was good. It was the only one of our dishes that doesn't seem to be a regular menu item so that could be the issue. The servers were extremely nice and helpful. Would put this on the return list for another private event or date night. read more

Came here because everything looked so tempting but unfortunately the food was a huge MISS. Sigh --- Service and management both tried to rectify the situation so bravo to them. I'd go back just because of them but it I had to base this on the food .... I wouldn't come back . The manager Amanda did her best and comped our drinks and was sincere. I appreciate that but the kitchen needs a slap! Brussels sprouts were scorched so had a bitter taste. Lobster Roll, mine had shell in it. - so sad Oysters Rockefeller had some grit in it - crying tears Shells and cheese - noodles were still hard - why?!???? Fries- came out cold I came on my birthday and was really hoping to see stars after trying some of the items and I was even gonna order the ceviche and the crab cakes because I'm greedy like that but I'm glad I waited because it would've been money down the drain. Please improve the kitchen!!! And I'll be back. I wanted to love it but I can only appreciate the hospitality. Loch Bar really delivered during happy hour. I tried the burger along with their cheesy tater tots, and both were spot on. The burger was cooked perfectly--juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a classic bar burger. The cheesy tater tots were honestly perfect: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and covered in just the right amount of cheese. My only complaint is that I wish the portion was bigger--I could've easily eaten more than five. Overall, great food, great value, and even better knowing it was all under happy hour. I've been to Loch Bar several times and I keep coming back. The service is great. Parking is valet or there's a free garage behind the restaurant. I've gone for lunch dinner, and late night. They are consistently good so I'll just list things I like and things I don't. Likes: The crab cakes are really good, the lobster roll is my solid go to. The crush options for drinks are pretty good. Fries and oysters are a must. The burger is solid and well flavored. Loved the shrimp and grits. The grits were really creamy and thick. The ceviche is a must if you like ceviche but ask for extra chips. Dislikes: crème brûlé because it's passionfruit and not traditional. Well made though. Pros: Polite and friendly service. We waited a couple minutes by the hostess stand because no one was there earlier this evening, and our eventual waitress Tabitha apologized and welcomed us when she realized the hostess was busy. Tabitha was very attentive and answered so many questions we had about all the oysters on the raw bar menu, and she made good recommendations, although I'm under the impression that they're all good options. Quality raw seafood. We ordered an assortment of oysters and a jumbo cocktail shrimp. I enjoyed the mild sweetness of the Queen's Cup but changed my mind once I tried the saltier Blackman Bay (I think that's the name). Delicious. I'm not even a raw oysters fan, or at least I wasn't before tonight. Ambience was perfect for date night. And parking was free for us although it likely depends on time of day or how long you're parked. Cons: The bathroom I used was unfortunately not cleaned after the previous user who seemed to have an aversion to flushing, and there were used paper towels discarded on the counter. A piece of lobster tail in my roll looked like it wasn't properly cleaned, or deveined if you will. I know that it won't kill me to eat it but like many others, I prefer the digestive tract to be removed from shellfish. The roll itself was good, especially with a generous squeeze of lemon juice which brightened up the sweet flavor of the claw meat well and contrasted with the butter nicely. I thought the loch burger was a little under salted and soggy and wouldn't order it again. The hand-cut fries are cooked the way I like them but the pieces with potato skin tasted slightly bitter as if the dirt wasn't scrubbed off well enough. Overall, we had a nice first time here and will likely come back soon to try out either the happy hour oysters or the late night music here (Tabitha sold us)! read more

After looking for a late night dinner spot on a Wednesday we settled in on Loch bar. I'm familiar with it since there is a location in Maryland. Nice vibes with live music . Service was a little slow as it was so late but not very noticeable and the servers friendly . Had raw oysters for appetizer. Very fresh and delicious. 5 stars Steak frittes- This was ok. The steak cooked well with a good sauce but there was something missing. Maybe the fries could have been a little better 4 stars Redfish- now this dish was a hit. It was my favorite and it wasn't even mine. My date ordered it and I ate listen of it. The fish was cooked perfectly and the grits creamy and delicious. The sauce which had whay I believe to be crawfish was spectacular. Hands down 5 stars Frose- tasty frozen drink . I wanted a break from the heavier cocktails . 5 stars Creme brule was a nice ending to our meals 4 stars Would definitely return! read more

My friend and I visited for Houston's Restaurant Week and I will definitely be coming back! For my first course, I enjoyed the Caesar salad. My second course was the lobster roll. Whew! The lobster roll dipped in that butter, chefs kiss!!!! For dessert, I tried to make room for the s'mores sundae and I am so glad I did because my God the way that cookie melted in my mouth. I can taste it as I write this review but no forreal the food and drinks were great! My friend didn't do the 3 course meal but ordered the oysters and lobster pasta. My friend scrapped every last lobster & pasta on that plate because it was so delicious! Beautiful restaurant located in the lovely River Oaks district! read more

We came for HRW. The food was great - I got the striped bass ceviche, the striped bass and the s'mores sundae. The portions were really good, I just wish there were more taro chips for the ceviche (the chip to ceviche ratio was a bit skewed). The service was good as well (the food delivery was sometimes timed a bit differently but it wasn't a big deal). The place was fairly loud for the night, what with the music and all, which was kind of the only downside to the evening. Overall a very nice place and enjoyable dinner. read more

We love coming here for both dinners and during happy hour. they have amazing deals and the service is amazing. they are very knowledgeable and helpful and the atmosphere is very fresh and open. I would recommend to anyone looking for some good seafood not in Galveston. I've also gotten the steak here, and it was phenomenal. It was such a unique taste and unbelievably delicious. Came here for the HRW brunch as a group of 5. Service was lovely, our waitress was very attentive throughout the meal. We all got different dishes to sample the whole brunch menu, and we are all very pleased with the quality, presentation and taste of everything. I highly recommend getting the steak & eggs, I know it may sound ordinary but there's nothing ordinary about the plate once you take a bite. The eggs are soft and fluffy, steak is so tender and perfectly seasoned, even when it's well done, the breakfast potatoes are shaped in long stick (more like French toast shaped hash browns, they are amazing). The Chicken & Waffles is amazing too. Very happy that we finally came and tried this place out. Love the location and the surroundings. read more

Came here for a friends pre birthday girls day HH. My first lemon drop, it was delish not a martini person but that was ready definitely recommend. The shrimp was so do crispy and the sauce went perfectly. The music was conversational and the staff was pretty attentive. Would definitely be coming back for HH. read more

I was pretty impressed with the food here! We came during happy hour (you must sit in the bar area) and tried the grilled artichokes, hushpuppies, and deviled eggs. All were delicious! The artichokes had a delicious dipping sauce. The truffle flavor in the eggs was prominent but not overpowering. The hushpuppies were great, but a small order. We split a pickled shrimp salad and the beer battered fish and chips. The salad was very tasty and had a pickled flavor, but note that there's no lettuce. It's mostly cucumbers and onion with cut pieces of shrimp. I really enjoyed the flavor though. The fish and chips were great, but of course, very heavy. I thought the fries were good--they looked like they're fresh cut. The fish pieces were enormous chunks, and I've had better in Alaska (not to brag), so I wasn't crazy about it. I had a New York State of Mind to drink, which was a bourbon based drink. It was nice in terms of flavor, but was a bit watered down. Overall I found the quality vs. cost to be good, and I'd come back to try even more. Note that if you don't want to valet, you can park in the garage a ways down for free, and then walk. read more

Loch Bar is right in my neighborhood and will be my go to bar. Perfect atmosphere any night you visit and the staff is super friendly. I've been here three times (Monday night, and two Friday nights) and each time was a good time. They have a really good happy hour from 3-7pm and if you come around 6, you can park for free out front because the other stores are closed. I've tried the the Buffalo cauliflower and lobster roll, both of which were really good and their vodka drink on the happy hour menu. I'm looking forward to trying out the other items on their menu. read more

Food- everything we had was delish. We started with oysters and poutine. Then got chicken and waffle, crab cakes, lobster rolls, and Brussel sprouts. Food was flavorful, good portion size, and well seasoned. Drinks- brunch drinks woohoo and good cocktails. Vibe- classy and clean. Appreciate the different types of seating and high ceilings. Service- everyone we interacted with was professional and friendly. Our server was funny and attentive. Our food took a bit longer than expected and they brought us cauliflower to pick on, nice touch! read more

Went here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday. Was seated fairly quickly (we had a reservation for a large group). Parking- option is valet or the garage, very little slots up front Staff- Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Food- Everyone said they loved their food. I went to the Loch Bar for a friend's birthday party and it was beautiful inside I loved the decor and ambiance. They had live entertainment, there was a singer with a piano whose voice was questionable at times but nonetheless entertaining. Our drinks were great and strong and grilled oysters were amazing. I had the lobster pasta and it's was definitely mid with pasta being stuck together and after trying the oysters it was no comparison. My friends had other lobster dishes and I'll post pictures of them and they enjoyed them. This definitely could have been a four or five star establishment but the service was terrible. We had a waitress who we could not hold her attention at all. She left us mid ordering, we would ask her about her suggestions and instead of giving her opinion or suggestion on what customers would like she would say you want that and just move on. We felt like we were being rushed and dismissed it really put a bad taste in our mouth. We had to flag her down multiple times and I definitely understand a busy night but when you're speaking with us please give us your attention or ask management for help. We spoke to Amanda and Tom who tried to recover service but damage had been done. They did send champagne to our table and was appreciated. I'm hopeful that maybe more training goes into place because service definitely ruins an experience for me. I plan to go back because the oysters were amazing and hopeful to update my review. Oh and one last thing my friend and I ordered the same drink and she felt that her drink came out Sudsy(like soapy glass) comparing the bubbles from mine to hers) she stated that it seem like the bubbles were even on the outside of the glass so I'm not sure what that was about. read more

I had dinner at Loch Bar during HRW 2022. Dinner was on the $55 menu. The staff was nice, but the service was incredibly slow throughout the entire dinner. There were a few menu items that they ran out of, so that was a bit disappointing. Drinks Frosé - Loved this! It was good and refreshing. I also enjoyed the lemon slice that came with it. My friend had the Three Crush and a Slush drink flight. She had wanted the Tennessee Crush, but they were out (I believe she ended up getting the Arnold Palmer instead). 1st Course: Deviled eggs - They were good and very flavorful. Came with bacon, chive, truffle, and espelette. The complimentary roll with garlic butter was really good. After I finished the deviled eggs, the server took my silverware with my plate. He then disappeared for what felt like forever. We had to flag down a random employee to ask for a fork for the second course. 2nd Course: Maryland Crab Cake - It was good, but the pieces of crab meat were a bit large for my preference. I loved the tartar sauce that came with it. For my sides I had broccolini and Brussels and both were good. They were prepared al dente which was great because the crisp texture helped to balance out the chewiness of the crab. One of my friends wanted to order the Maine Lobster Roll, but they ran out. 3rd Course: Smith Island Cake - it was good and light. It was almost airy like a sponge cake. My other friend ordered the cookies. They were dusted with powdered sugar. I didn't try any, but they looked really good. You can park in the garage for free which is nice. The walk isn't far, but I got a bit turned around since I was unfamiliar with the area. If the service hadn't been so slow and if they hadn't run out of some of the menu items that we wanted to order, this would have been a 5 star dining experience. read more

Mother's Day brunch was very good. Cool vibe with a nice duet playing live music. Food and service were outstanding. Some of us ordered off the brunch menu and some off the regular menu. The basic breakfast and steak and eggs were very good. Avocado toast was not anything special. Nashville hot fried chicken was crispy with a good kick.
