I visited Lola's with my mom this week and it just wasn't what I remembered. First of all they don't have the lunch specials any more and we waited so long for both them to take our order and bring the food. The service was really slow and it was lunch time. You'd think you'd pick up the pace a bit knowing people are on their lunch break. Anyway the food arrived and i studies it and moved it around to see what was up. I ordered the Lomo saltado and there was barely any fries in it and tasted a lot like red wine vinegar and nothing else. My mom ordered a shrimp saltado and it didn't look very good. And the ceviche was disappointing, nothing special about it. I don't know if ownership has changed or what, but I won't be returning. The lunch specials were really the only reason I used to go, for full price there's much better Peruvian food elsewhere. read more

Really good Peruvian restaurant but parking can be difficult to find. The place is simple and nice. Service was good with flavorful food although I think is on the salty side since several of us were very thirsty after eating here. We ordered: - Lomo saltado.- the best dish we tried. - Cebiche 3 ajíes.- very good too, it is spicy but not that spicy. - Jalea de mariscos.- this is a big plate and it was good. If you like fried food this is the one. - Paella.- it was good too. - Pescado a lo macho.- good but I would have prefer to have the whole fish and not fillets. - Pollo a la brasa.- I think this their specialty but I think it was good like other roasted chickens I have tried with more flavor. My husband and I loved this restaurant for years except when we went back last Sunday, 7/23/23 with our friends at around 6 pm. The server, we didn't recognize, she maybe new or probably she's been for sometime since the last time we were there was a year ago. The food is still the same still delicious EXCEPT FOR THE SERVICE. The server wasn't attentive, our water wasn't refilled and we had to ask twice; the serving spoons weren't on the food trays. We had to call her attention for them. She never checked on us. We could hear her chitchatting with another worker at the back. The place was empty except for us and our 2 friends. Anyway, we loved the food but not the service. The food was great. We had anticuchos and they were delicious, it was my first time trying them and they didn't disappoint. We also had the jalea de mariscos which was massive and enough for 2-3 people as well as the ceviche. The ceviche was incredible and really left us wanting more. Visited Lola's for dinner on a Saturday evening and this was the best meal we had on our trip! The pasta dish with Lomo Saltado was EXTREMELY DELICIOUS!! Food is good, service is extremely bad. I was helped by the so called owner. I asked for the price of beer the só called owner tells me 3something so I ask for a bucket of 13 beers. And ask her for the total price she tells me to multiply 3something by 12. I'm like really? Then my buddies ordered a drink that they didn't like. So he asks for the waitress to take it away to trash it. The same lady that is the so called owner comes out to start a fight and that he needs to pay for it eventhough he didn't want it. My buddy was going to pay for it. He just didn't want the other nasty drink. I had to ask for a refill 4 time and hot sauce 2 times. Bottom line is the service is very bad. FISH POISONING & HOSPITAL My wife and I had dinner on Sat Nov 11th, 2019 at Lola's. I ordered the sudando pescado (dry fish) and 5 minutes after finishing the fish I fainted. I came back to and fainted a second time two minutes later. My wife called 911 for an ambulance and I was taken to the ER at Glendale Hospital on a stretcher from the restaurant. I do not have any food allergies, nor any allergies to fish. The on call doctor suspected it was fish poisoning (couldnt test the fish as I ate it) which later I found out is called scromboid poisoning or histamine toxicity and unlike food poisoning, can take effect from 5 min after eating fish. One of the symptoms is fainting. Scromboid poisoning and histamine toxicity is caused by fish that was not stored, cleaned or handled properly in the kitchen. The medical expenses were over $900 for the ambulance and hospital (with good insurance). It ruined our rare date night out from the kids and put a big dent in the wallet just for 1 dinner. The manager Mauricio Vincenzi agreed right away to reimburse me and after 10 Months chasing him for the reimbursement, he still has never done it (email below). I want to support Peruvian restaurants (wife is Peruvian and kids half Peruvian) and small restaurants, but not at the expense of my health and wallet. I've now gotten the health department and attorney's involved. Below is the email from the manager apologizing and agreeing to reimburse expenses, which the NEVER DID! Posting this is a WARNING as there are a few reviews that also experienced food poisoning, so this place should really shut down. read more

Honestly I forgot to write a review the first time because I was still mesmerized by the flavors on the way home all I have to say is we went for my moms bday the second time but at night and they played live music on Friday night and the man was amazing and sang all the right songs some very modern too linda surprised me and than the food was awesome the service is super kind and the chucha morada is very sweet without ice so I suggest ice because they gave me it without I also love the lighting at the bar and the meat choices my are awesome ever if it's just chaufa alone !!! DISAPPOINTED I have been coming here for YEARS and the quality of the food has gone down while the prices have soared. Before they used to be generous with bread refills AND they were proper bread rolls, now you get ONE tiny bread stick and they have the audacity to charge you 50¢ for a refill. As for the food, I've been ordering Jalea de Mariscos for a while, it used to come with Peruvian Salsa Criolla, now they give you TARTAR sauce with it, which is super unauthentic, I have to ASK for Peruvian Aji and on top of that. Speaking of the Aji, they also go SUPER heavy with the Mayo in all of their sauces. Oh and we ordered salchipapas and they were very sad, hardly any sauce, the quality of the sausages were like cheap hot dogs. Sorry to say but I've had much better salchipapas elsewhere. The cherry on top from going last time, which may actually be my last time, was that they weren't offering BEEF HEART ANTICUCHOS what's the point of this being a Peruvian restaurant Listen, the overall flavor of the food I've had isn't BAD, but they're getting stingy, and they're slowly watering down their Peruvian flavors. Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner with my girlfriend! She had the seafood saltados while I had the Tallarin Verde Con Milanesa de Pollo. We both enjoyed our dishes! Service was friendly and attentive. Only thing I would say is that it is a bit dark/dim inside --both my girlfriend and I thought it could have been a bit brighter but maybe there's a certain mood they are going for? This place has really went down. Used to be a nice quaint place with amazing food and service. Not anymore. Came in and almost left due to the filth of the restaurant alone. We walked in without reservations and were seated within a few minutes. Immediately noticed that it's not a big restaurant, but cozy with a romantic vibe. I've never had Peruvian food and was excited to try something new. Our server was great and was quick to recommend their popular dishes. While we were looking at the menus, another server walking by noticed we were struggling to see the menu and lit a flashlight for us (very thoughtful) and also gave a few recommendations of his own. We ended up ordering the traditional ceviche to share as an appetizer and the pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), and lomo saltado (beef with rice and fries) as entrees. Soon after ordering, warm bread with two delicious sauces were promptly brought to our table. Then the ceviche came and it was very delicious and refreshing. We got it in medium spice which had the perfect amount of kick. The fish and squid were fresh and tasty, not rubbery at all (and I don't usually enjoy squid). The Peruvian corn was new to me but tasted great along the other ingredients. Definitely recommend this one if you enjoy lime/tangy flavored foods. The rotisserie chicken entree (with side salad and fried plantains) was delicious as well. I really liked the plantains, added a nice sweetness to the meal. Fiancé enjoyed his lomo saltado. The portions are huge and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. :) It is a bit loud in there and by the end of our meal we were antsy to leave as the noise was becoming unbearable. Other than that the food is really good (seems like a very authentic place) and service is very friendly. It seems like they really care that their customers have a good experience. Delicious food and super cheery staff! I came here with my family today with zero expectations. I found out about this place because of a youtuber Stephanie Soo who posted a mukbang eating Lola's food. We ordered the half chicken, steak and linguine with green sauce, a plain salad, the mussels starter, and seafood pasta. Everything was sooo incredibly delicious. The mussels were the star of the meal. They tasted so fresh and delightful, so much so that we got another order togo to eat later at dinner. All the other dishes were also stellar. My family is generally pretty picky with food and restaurants. But this place got their stamp of approval and we will definitely be returning. The food is delicious, we started off with choclo serrano which are pieces of peruvian corn with butter, we also tried yucca frita with huancaina sauce. It is absolutely delicious! The huancaina was nice and creamy. For the entrée I had the lomo saltado, it was good and I also had fish ceviche. Hubby got seco de carne, shredded beef in cilantro sauce. The restaurants staff is young and not at all detail oriented. They assume when you'd like your food instead of asking if they'd like to bring out certain plates first. Waited over an hour to get food for a table of 6 and once they food started coming out, everything was brought out piece by piece so the whole table had to eat at different times. Extremely unpleasant experience. The staff doesn't take ownership of mistakes and instead redirects the blame onto the customers. The food tastes great but dining here leaves. What a gem! We were starving and looking for a hearty meal and we came to the right place. We entered through the back, which made the restaurant appear to be a "hole-in-the-wall" type of joint, but that wasn't the case, and even if it was, it's just further proof those spots are the best. We were seated immediately and attended to as soon as we sat. I had a sangria and my husband had a beer. The sangria was refreshing- not overly sweet. We had breadsticks with two sauces and when our waiter saw we ate them quickly, he brought more. He gave us service with a smile and wasted no time taking our order. The food was cooked quickly, the portions were huge and it was probably the best Peruvian food I've had. I ate the saltado de camarones- the shrimp were big, it was a generous portion and the sauce was out of this world. I normally don't eat everything on my plate, but I did this time. I was glad we didn't order appetizers because I wouldn't have had the room. My husband ordered the pork and it was crisped to perfection. We barely spoke during the meal except to say "this is so good" in between bites. Highly recommend this place if you want delicious food at a great price point with excellent service and large portions. Came here on a Thursday night around 6:30p No one was there to greet us at the check in desk upon entry. A bartender looked in our direction but didn't acknowledge us at all for awhile. I understand times are tough with limited staff but an acknowledgment of "get to you in a moment" would have been appreciated if there was eye contact. Ordered the Loma saltado to share between me and my bf. Was the right amount with a side of plantains. We also got some bread which was super yummy. Note! The green sauce is spicy even though the waiter says it's not - for all you anti spicy humanS! The Mayo sauce was very tasty though! The loma was good and the meat and sauce were delicious but wished the ratio of beef was higher with less fries and rice - felt a little carbed out! Waited a little while for the check but understand there was only one server that night. It's an overall problem of understaffed restaurants in general post pandemic. Parking is not free so be prepared to pay and it's a little difficult to find as well. Overall okay, not sure if I would return but the sauce and beef that was there was delicious in the loma and the plantains as well hit the spot! read more
