The prices have went up by a tremendous amount. The "Llomo Soltado" entrée used to be $20 and out of no where I show up and the price goes up by 50% to $30??? The absurd price increase is not the only reason why I am giving 1 star as I'd be ok with paying more for good food. The Llomo Soltado was mediocre at best. The meat was dry, hard to chew, and at times had a pungent flavor. Their "green" sauce was a complete different color than it normally is. If you are going to increase your prices by 50%, at least try to justify it with the quality of your food. read more

We had some great Peruvian food over the uears and had high expectations and hopes for Lola's. We had 3 Lomo Saltado plates and 1 Pescado Saltado plate. The Pescado Saltado plate was super good. The bread, butter, and Aji sauces were also very good. The quality of the meat used in the Lomo Saltado was excellent. The service, location, and ambiance was also very good. The Lomo was too salty for our taste and did not have the explosion of savory flavors usually found in this dish. None of our plates came with a side of Aguadito de Pollo soup which surprised us especially given the much higher price we paid as compared to other Peruvian Restuarants that include it. They also do not have rotisserie chicken, which some of us were hoping for. Given the higher price and taste, we do not expect to return unless accompanying others who choose to try. read more

Lovely Peruvian family restaurant in Glendale!!! I got catering for a work event and they delivered to the fullest!!! All of the staple Peruvian dishes were excellent!!! The lomo saltado was rich in protein and flavor. The beef steak bites were medium well and tender. All the veggies (cilantro, red onion and tomato) were fresh too. The fries luckily are thick steak fries so they withstand the vinegary soy sauce of the lomo. The tallarín verde was my favorite. The pasta wasn't overdone even though it was still warm on the way to work. This green spaghetti sauce is made with spinach, cheese and basil. The amount and flavor of the sauce was delicious. Topped with the chicken milanesa or breaded slices chicken breast was the perfect combo. Meaty chicken with the soft spaghetti pasta was the best!!! As for the ceviche mixto it was a tad too salty so I won't give them 5 stars. Nonetheless it was fresh and came with fish, mussels, calamari and shrimp. It comes with sweet potatoes and lettuce. The lime sauce is called leche de Tigre or tigers milk which is a blend of ginger, garlic, fish stock and evaporated milk. I still ate it with joy as the saltiness simmered down with the choclo/cancha or corn kernels. I'll definitely rely on them for future catering needs and also simply to enjoy a nice Peruvian meal with friends or family!!! Highly recommend this Peruvian restaurant when in Glendale!!! read more

If I can give this restaurant a 0.01 star review then I would. Horrible restaurant with such horrible food. The lomo saltado by far the worst of the worst lomo saltado I've ever had as a Peruvian. The fries were drier than sand. It had diced pieces of meat. And to top it all off it was 90% tomatoes and onions, 5% fries & 5% meat. I wouldn't even call their meat lomo. Lowest quality meat for a $35 plate. A pisco sour was about $17 and it was such a joke. Tasted more like a lemonade. This restaurant is a DISGRACE to the Peruvian culture. I wouldn't even label this as a "Peruvian restaurant." The experience I had here was a robbery. I had $300 bill with my family. We went to enjoy a good time and hoping for some "good food." It was the worst Peruvian food ever and the waitress didn't even mention to us that there was a service charge of 20%. She took my card charged us and we noticed this once we got home because there was an extra charge of $75. WHAT THE HELL!!! They do not disclose this information with their customers so BE CAREFUL! We went on a Friday night where they had a live band playing some Peruvian music. We opted to sit outside as it was getting a bit raucous. I paired my Chupe with some plaintains, Inka Cola, and the Salchipapa. A filling meal for a decent price. An absolute great balance of protein, carbs, and veggies. The dish is a master of blanch with the savory, tender beef, oily fries, the crunch of onions and veggies, all brought together with rice. Add some of their Aji Verde (green hot sauce) and you're in. Although I've had better sauce at other establishments. My wife got a seafood pasta. I thought it was good but a bit salty. However, my wife felt it had a strong seafood aftertaste, which is surprising because she loves seafood and the fishiness of many dishes. We did bring the leftovers home and after adding other ingredients, she did say it was good. We also ordered their fish ceviche and this was good. I can drink the entire juice from the bowl. The acidity and tenderness of the fish, along with the crunch of onion and corn, is a must try. Make sure you order the Inca Cola. This is better than butter beer! Service here is always friendly and staff is very welcoming. I called last minute to book a reservation for my dad's birthday, a party of 7. They said they were fully booked. They offered a 7 or 7:30pm and I asked if there was no way they could take us "now" which was around 5:30pm to 6pm. The man on the phone said he could take us now outdoors since they had parties coming in. I said thank you! We'll take the 5:45pm. My Family and I arrive, and there are no tables set up outdoors for a party of 7. We walked in, and the server/hostess asked if I called, and I said yes. For a party of 7. They had a table set up to my left that had 7 seats, and she sat us there. When we sat, she asked me if the man on the phone let me know that they needed the table back by 7pm. I told her he didn't, but that was fine because my family was limited in time. She asked us if wanted anything to drink and we water all around and she asked for two? I repeated waters for everyone. She left and came back. She took our orders. The food didn't take too long to arrive so that was ok. But when my mom's order came, she said that she ordered the whole fish. they brought her two filets. The server said that they didn't have the whole fish. So my mom wanted to give it back, but the server said she would ask if we could return it. First of all, WE DIDN'T ORDER THESE FILETS! So why would you ASK of we could return it?! So my mom just ordered two more filets because one order wasn't going to be enough for her and my dad. The server had the audacity to ask, "But are you going to pay for it?" I interrupted and said YES! So then as we're eating, the server is constantly trying to rush us by asking if we needed anything else, trying to clear our plates and glasses even though we weren't done eating or drinking yet. She even took my dad's half full glass of wine away and he had to call out to her wait! I'm not done yet! So at this point we asked for our bill which took them 40 MINUTES TO FIGURE OUT!!! I don't know what the hell was going on with our bill. They claim that it isn't printing out and they called the owner or manager SEVERAL times! They finally got the bill printed and gave it to us. Our parking had already expired and all! So my sister paid for the bill with her card and we purposely left NO TIP!!!! When my sister got home, she checked her account, and they added a 20% tip! She called them, livid! I've attached a photo which states a "0" on the tip portion. Our bill was $155.45 and sure enough, her card was charged $186.54. Idk what the hell happened to this place! Lola's is a quaint Peruvian eatery on a busy thoroughfare. We found parking in a small lot behind the restaurant on California Street. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. *The front door says "push", but you need to PULL it to enter.* My husband and I met a friend here for dinner around 5:30 on a Thursday night. At that time, it wasn't busy; there were only 2 other tables with customers. We watched numerous customers struggle with entering Lola's as we dined at our table near the front. I ordered the pollo milanesa con tallarin verde (one of my favorite Peruvian meals). My hubby & friend both ordered the lomo saltado. There was only 1 person taking customer orders and serving food for the hour we were there. As the tables were filling up, there was still only one person serving the entire restaurant, which meant longer wait times and lots of patience. Despite the delays, it was a "thumbs up" all the way around for each of our meals. The portions were hearty and each dish was flavorful. The chicken took up half my plate and it was breaded to perfection. We had some leftover huancaino sauce from the bread appetizer and I liked it so much I drizzled a little bit on my chicken. I usually don't eat this much for dinner, but I cleaned off my plate this time! I'm glad we got to Lola's when it wasn't busy because we were able to finish our meals in a reasonable amount of time. My lady and I came here on Valentine's Day, just hoping for a delicious meal before we headed out to a comedy show (Gianmarco Soresi), but we got so much more. Often, you're lucky if they take your order 15 minutes after you arrive. Appetizers and entrees arrive simultaneously, and they rarely check on you until you're almost done with your meal. You often have to make eye contact or even get up and approach them because they're too busy chatting among themselves. Despite giving this place numerous chances due to our love for the food, the service remains consistently poor. I hope they make improvements, but for now, I'll be avoiding this restaurant. Since I am leaving a review I have to say something about the ambiance, The ambiance at this restaurant can be lively on Saturday nights, especially when they have live music. While the music itself is usually pleasant to the ears, it does create quite a buzz. If you're looking to have a quiet conversation during dinner on a Saturday night, this might not be the ideal place due to the lively atmosphere. On other days, however, they have a lovely tropical music playing softly in the background, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. I regret not having been here in so many years. It used to be a regular haunt because it was very group friendly and had a great variety of wonderful foods and drinks for us to share. Took my next generation for dinner here. Despite some picky eaters with me, the kitchen adapted and made for some flavorful dishes. The menu appeared a little smaller than before but perhaps they decided to focus more on the options they have now because everything we ordered came out great (lomo saltado, arroz con mariscos, tallarin verde, cau cau). Despite a half-full restaurant, there were only two wait staff and they appeared a little new and overwhelmed. They were very friendly and hospitable though. I don't know where my previous reviews have gone. I've been here numerous times, and ALWAYS loved this place. QUARANTINE / TAKE OUT REVIEW: FOOD: order anything, you can't go wrong. I'm usually going to get chicken or steak here, but prefer the wood fire roasted chicken. I have had the pork, and it is amazing too. When you dine in, the portions are huge and come with lovely bread sticks as well. When you dine out, the portions are restricted to the container. Still, a great serving, but Lola's is generous in person. Despite being covered in exquisite sauce from the meat, the French fries do get a little more steamed-out on the way back home (or wherever you're going to eat them) than they will be when you dine in, but don't let that deter you from digging in. Maybe it's just seeing them in a little clear container, but the plantains went really fast. (Plus it's been months since we've been to Lola's so they were demolished before they made it around the family table once. Two of us got chicken, and it is as good as you remember. There's something about sitting in the restaurant with the fire and oven going, the fat and juices sizzling at flames hug the meat that might add to the experience, but still tasty. The steak was a little overcooked and yet soft?- again, I'm gonna blame the plastic takeaway box, because I know that the cooks at Lola's know what they're doing. The seafood was really excellent. Although my wife didn't eat the mussels, everything else was deliciously prepared, octopus super tender. I didn't get a pork dish, but maybe next time. LOCATION: It's quarantine version - so takeaway only at the time of this review. PARKING: quarantine version - there is parking right in front. Easy to run in / run out. We visited with my Peruvian SIL and were hoping it would be as good as a Peruvian spot we visit in NY. While our waitress was very sweet, the service was lacking. The appetizers came out with the food and each entree came our separately instead of together. By the time some of us got our food, the other meals were already cold. The mixed drinks were all sugar. Our pollo saltado was missing the sauce that brings the whole thing together. The ceviche was bland. The only good food was the fried fish we ordered as an app yet it arrived after all the meals. Our waitress tried to make it right but unfortunately there was only so much she could do. They only serve beer and wine so ordered a glass of sangria which was very refreshing. Wanted the pork special so disappointed that they didn't have this early on a Friday night. Started with the cholo serrano which was really delicious. It's large corn kernels with melted cheese on top. For our entrees we ordered the lomo saltado, salmon a la parrilla and the saltado de camarones. When eating Peruvian food, my go to is some kind of saltado dish. Everything was so good and great portion size. On the saltados just enough rice and still some crisp on the fries and smothered in the tasty soy sauce. So so good! Wanted to try a new Peruvian food place so Yelped it. The Chica Morada drink was amazing! It comes in a cup or in a liter. Best I've tried and server told us they make here which is probably why it is so delicious. Ordered the Lomo Saltado (steak, fries and rice). My honey liked it enough to want to come again. I had the Aji de Gallina (shredded chicken in a curry based cheesy Peruvian sauce) served with white rice. The chicken was good but rice didn't taste freshly made. I love rice and honestly I always order more but didn't like it. What I did like was the chicken and the purple Peruvian drink. The service was amazing! Alex was great. Answered all our questions and checked on us often. Nice to see Peruvian around. Glendale parking sucks but plenty of it around the restaurant and yes you have to pay. read more

Ingredients seemed like they were frozen especially the fries and the steak meat was decent but the portion was small. This dish was like 40 percent white rice. My dad got the Shrimp Saltado and the Shrimp didn't seem fresh definitely frozen and the tails are still on. I ordered a rice and seafood dish and I was not impressed. I was telling my friend how much I love mamita's and their green sauce and she said you've gotta try Lola's for their sauces. I told the lady who took my order to hook me up with some extra sauces as I heard how good it is. She gave me one green sauce and a yellow sauce. The serving portion was huge but I have yet to eat or taste the belll peppers listed on the dish. Unlike other reviews I thought the customer service was great and my order was ready when I got there. But the food was just ok. I'll stick with Mamita's when I'm in the mood for Peruvian food. Had a nice dinner here on a Friday night. We were craving Peruvian for a few weeks and after shooting some billiards up the block at Mr. Furley's, we made our way to Lola's. Metered parking via central pay machine along Brand Blvd. Same goes for the parking lots behind it. There are no free parking lots in Glendale. I am all about lomo saltado so I was very much looking forward to having a good Peruvian meal. After working up an appetite, we were ready to eat. We started off with the fried yucca appetizer aka Yucca Frita A La Huancaina ($9). This was a good sized appetizer. You get about 6 good sized fried yucca. It comes smothered in their yellow huancaina sauce. This was a decent starter. My lady really liked it and would order it again. I had the lomo saltado ($17) and it was a good sized plate. An order of lomo saltado at most Peruvian restaurants usually is. Sliced beef, potatoes and onions in local spices and soy sauce. It was good. The beef was flavorful. The potatoes were good too. I wish there was a little more crispness to them. The tomatoes sitting in that soy sauce is tasty. All that with white rice is such a good dish. Lola's did not disappoint. I love my lomo saltado and they make a good one for sure. Service was good. It was busy and the dining room isnt the biggest but it easily seats 20-25 people, it looked like. Almost every table was taken by the time the check came. One little detail I noticed was that the menus needed to be wiped down a little bit better. Im sure this was just overlooked in our case... Was in the area and saw there was this Peruvian restaurant, and looked interesting so i walked on in to try. The seating area is very nice, it's small but great for parties of 4 or less. The waitress was friendly and was the only one serving at the time. I ordered the the arroz chaufa de marisco, and we also ordered the tallarín de marisco along with a side of yucca. You're given a small tin of 3 small breads, along with butter and the aji aka green sauce. The dishes were great in portion and the chaufa was really good and had a great flavor, even though you could taste some cinnamon in it, it worked very well, paired with the aji it was perfect. The tallarín was ok, was a bit spicy for my father, but overall it was ok, i didn't like that they do not use the round noodle but instead the flat one. I visited Lola's with my mom this week and it just wasn't what I remembered. First of all they don't have the lunch specials any more and we waited so long for both them to take our order and bring the food. The service was really slow and it was lunch time. You'd think you'd pick up the pace a bit knowing people are on their lunch break. Anyway the food arrived and i studies it and moved it around to see what was up. I ordered the Lomo saltado and there was barely any fries in it and tasted a lot like red wine vinegar and nothing else. My mom ordered a shrimp saltado and it didn't look very good. And the ceviche was disappointing, nothing special about it. I don't know if ownership has changed or what, but I won't be returning. Service was good with flavorful food although I think is on the salty side since several of us were very thirsty after eating here. We ordered: - Lomo saltado.- the best dish we tried. - Cebiche 3 ajíes.- very good too, it is spicy but not that spicy. - Jalea de mariscos.- this is a big plate and it was good. If you like fried food this is the one. - Paella.- it was good too. - Pescado a lo macho.- good but I would have prefer to have the whole fish and not fillets. - Pollo a la brasa.- I think this their specialty but I think it was good like other roasted chickens I have tried with more flavor.
