Not a fan. Went once based on reviews here and it was just okay. Firstly I have never had my toenails cut with a cuticle cutter. Is that a California thing? No thanks. Secondly, please scrub, pumice and massage. It is a pedicure after all and my feet need a treat! I should have known when the manicurist had perfect nails that this was not going to be the hands-on experience I was used to back East. No getting her nails mussed. I've spent years getting acrylic nails and removing them because they always look too thick and are filed at strange angles. This is the first time I have ever been truly happy. I saw Ivy and she was meticulous and gentle. My nails look like a celebrities! She filed them into a perfect almond shape. Loma just found a new client. So I am getting married this year and I want to look my very best especially because I have been battling acne and now acne scars for about 8 years. So of course I went on yelp to scoop out some good facial places around my area. I found Loma Spa and went in for a complimentary consultation to look over my skin. Helen was professional and explained to me what kind of products she used and what she recommended for me to do to make my skin look in tip top condition. I made an appointment for the Spring Special facial which includes a massage also and it was great! I never felt my face feel so healthy before!! After the facial I immediately noticed the difference in my pigmentation and overall appearance of the face. I will be going back for monthly treatments and I might get a Deep Sea Peel which is good for resurfacing the skin and rebuilding collagen. I will update once I've done the Deep Sea!! =) read more

I went on Yelp to find some place close to where I was and had a horrible experience (no customer service & left) - now I looked again and found Loma Spa. They accepted credit cards & was close. They have a receptionist, so I was politely greeted. But I didn't have an appointment. Thinking I was going to have to try a 3rd place they said they could fit me in. Yeah! Holly has been great! Honestly I would probably give it a 2.5 star rating. I came here before I got married for eyebrow waxing and a facial. The eyebrow wax was decent. Each time I came for the eyebrow wax, I was told to get a facial, REPEATEDLY, like throughout the entire time she was waxing, she tried to sell me on a facial. TOTAL into heavy duty sales. I finally considered it after several months and the facial was ok. Extraction was painful beyond words and the overall experience was nothing to rave about. They do leave the room for a long time while you just lay there. The only positive was my esthetician didn't try to push products on me because I told her I already use the complete La Mer line so you can't really upsell on that. Another annoying thing is one day the esthetician called me TWICE to change my appt. date and time, in order to accommodate her other clients. I guess because I only booked an eyebrow wax, she thought it would be more lucrative to try and squeeze in another client, even though I booked my appt. well in advance. I didn't have a busy day so I allowed her to reschedule but by the second time she phoned, I was annoyed. Overall, this place has good (lower) prices but I would rather pay more for better service and quality. ***UPDATE*** 8/14/08 I was contacted by the owner who kindly offered to make up for the issues I complained about and hoped I would give them a second chance. I have found other salons I love so I didn't take her up on the offer, but I certainly appreciate the gesture. read more

Loma Spa thoroughly exceeded my expectations. Even before physically arriving for my appointment I was impressed with the booking process which was very easy and efficient over the phone. The day of my appointment I arrived a few minutes early and was kindly greeted and shown the selection of colors while the water for my pedicure was set up. Everything from there on went smoothly. Wendy very kindly helped me in selecting my nail color since I wasn't sure on what shade I was looking for. She patiently swatched multiple colors for me until I found the perfect one. The one thing I noticed and very much appreciated was the time and attention to detail both Wendy, my gel manicurist and Toby, my pedicurist put into their work. I would very, very highly recommend both Wendy and Toby for their nail services. My feet feel incredibly clean and smooth after my luxury gel pedicure and I loved the long massage that was included. My gel manicure turned out so well and I'm someone who will look at each and every nail and try to find any small mistake and there was nothing to point out! Lastly, the man at the front desk who helped me check out and also checked me in when I first arrived was very informative on other ways to book for next time and informed me that I could return if anything was out of place later on with my nails. UPDATE 4/23/10: The owner fixed the eyelash situation for me recently and I can honestly say I'm much happier now :) Yay to having pretty curly lashes again! The nail services have been consistently good now. Still the occasional slanted nail on the pedi's, and the paint on my fingernails sometimes doesn't last more than a week, but I think their services has improved and been consistently good for a while now. There was a slight misunderstanding between myself and an employee there that left me leaving upset and I almost considered not coming back! But the owner witnessed it and then called me back to apologize and honestly if it wasn't for that, I probably would have just not returned. The owner shows she REALLY cares about her clients and that says a lot about their ethics. I am very impressed with her communication and her method of running business. I think I'll keep this place as my #1 salon for a looong time =) Adding a star for awesomeness! UPDATE 11/1/09: It seems I spoke to soon :( The eyelash perming services have gotten worse. I think they changed formulas or rods or something, not sure, but the last two times have come out pretty bad. Once they only lasted about 3-4 weeks, then when I came in to have them re-done (2 months later, I really couldn't afford to spend the $ on them again any sooner) and they came out sort of crimped on one side. Now they have lasted about 4-6 weeks, but I'm waiting for the crimp to go away as it looks pretty terrible, I'll knock off a star for now. The nail services are TOP NOTCH now though, fantastic!! Highly recommended :) UPDATE 7/16/09: Since my previous review, the nails services have gotten much better and the eyelashes haven't had any more problems since then. I'll bump them up to 4/5 stars, also cuz they can always get me in when I need an appointment on short notice. :) ORIGINAL review: Ok, I've been here almost like a gajillion times now, so I can write a pretty balanced review about them. Their pedicures are hit or miss, depending on who you get. I'd say about 3/5 of the time you get a good pedicure that you walk out feeling good about. Some of the common pedi buzz-killers have been: nails cut slanted, painted a little messy, taking way too long, getting better pedi's from some techs and getting lackluster pedi's from other techs. For the most part though, the experiences have been pretty good. The manicures are great. I usually just get touch up nail polish changes, since they used to shape my nail and tidy them up nicely where I didn't need a full manicure session 3-4 times a month. Unfortunately, they let go of my favorite tech and the other techs don't clean them up as nicely. My only gripe for a while was that their nail polish was coming almost completely off within a week or having funky shrinking kind of effects. After having to get it replaced every week, we decided to try not putting the oil on before the polish and finally it stayed much better. Just wish they'd figured this out sooner before they collected all those extra visits from me :-| I get my eyelashes curled there by Helen and she does a pretty good job, I'd say 4/5. There was a few times where she'd crimp/curl a few of my lashes in a very wrong way, and I'd have to pull the faulty ones out when I got home, and just wait for them to grow back. :( This sucked, and it hurts more than you think to pluck your eyelashes out lol Helen has always pushed her facials, but I told her that I have my facials lady that I see and also get my eyebrows waxed from, so I was fine. One time when doing my eyelashes, she casually mentioned "oh I can clean these up for you (my eyebrows)" and since I was due for another eyebrow wax soon, I thought, sure why not. I thought she'd just be sort of plucking a few or waxing a couple, but she actually did a bit more, pretty much a full wax job. "Ok, no worries that was nice of her to do that." Well, when I got to the counter, I saw that she'd charged me for the eyebrow wax... gee I thought u were just throwing in a tiny courtesy service to maybe sample your eyebrow waxing skills, but NO you very slyly waxed my eyebrows and didn't warn me that you'd just be charging me for it. Thanks a lot :-| I was NOT happy with that at all and won't ever be getting my eyebrows waxed there again. She charged me more than my regular aesthetician does, and it wasn't even as good anyway. How frustrating :( So with all that said, I think 3/5 stars is about right for Loma Spa. read more

This should really be a 2.5 star review, but I rounded up. I was searching for a decent place to get a mani/pedi near my parents' house before going to a wedding the next day and based on the reviews here, I figured I'd give this place a try. I called ahead and made an appointment for 5pm that evening, and when I got there, they told me they were running a bit behind and was there a certain time by which I had to leave. I said I had to leave by 6:15 for a dinner, and the receptionist (who was very sweet) told me that wouldn't be a problem, they would just do the mini mani/pedi which would only take 1 hour. At 5:15, I was taken back to a chair to have their "mini pedicure" done - turns out that was a pedicure with minimal clean up and no massage, same as the mini manicure, which I was fine with. The problem was, they are VERY understaffed. Only one lady worked on me for the entire hour and 20 minutes (taking me past the 6:15 deadline I had). The pedi results were good, but the French tips on my fingers lasted only 3 days before chipping, and boy did they chip badly. The rest of the polish started to bubble around the edges as well, which is something I've rarely experienced. The cost is also more than I have ever paid for a mani/pedi without any massage/frills, and I live in LA. Overall, the ambiance of this place is nice and the staff is very sweet, but I don't think I'd go back unless I was absolutely desperate and had at least 1.5 hours to kill. read more

Loma Spa is fantastic. Their service was amazing. I called a couple months in advance to book a block of appointments for my bridal party on the morning of my wedding. Le was very accommodating and blocked out the entire morning and nail section of the salon for us. He also welcomed us to bring in breakfast to enjoy while we were being serviced. The morning of my wedding, Le had already organized a schedule of the girls and the technicians that would be working with them. He kept everyone on time. The ladies that were helping us were very sweet and made an effort to remember all of our names. They also made sure we were relaxing and enjoying our treatments. We had booked one signature mani/pedi, four deluxe mani/pedis, and two luxury mani/pedis. Everything was phenomenal and all of my bridal parties nails looked great. It was a great way to start off a wonderful day. At the end of the appointment Le presented me with a gift card for same value of luxury + gel services I received that morning. It was very sweet. I went to Loma Spa for the first time this week. I've been looking for a nice place and this may be it! I didn't see any kind of pedicures like the "Deluxe Rose..." or the "Botanical..." that people were talking about on the reviews but I got the regular deluxe pedicure which included their hot stone massage, scrub and mask ($50). The girl took her time and was very careful with everything she did and her massage was really nice. My toes turned out nice and pretty and I'm eager to see how long it'll last. The staff were all very nice and professional as well. The place was nice and quiet, especially since I was the only one there! Nice massage chairs and very clean. The only thing I would say is I hope they're good about keeping the filters clean for the foot spa. read more

I have been here a couple times for mani/pedis and I would say it's my new tried and true favorite. Iris takes great care of my hands and feet. My pedis last a month and my french manis last a couple weeks which is really good considering my job is very not manicure friendly at all. I went to Loma Spa exactly 2 weeks ago. I was very grateful because the male receptionist let me make a 7:00pm appointment (which is pretty rare) for a pedicure and cellac. I asked him if the staff would be rushed since it's so late, and if so I could come another time. He assured me that if they were rushed, then I could talk to him. 5 stars for that encounter. Fast forward to my appointment time. They were very friendly upon checking me in and offering me some water/tea. They had a decent nail selection, but nothing impressive. The lady started on my pedicure and did a great job. I'm still very happy with her work. Then it was about 7:45pm and everyone was packing up and about to leave. I was like "Uhhh ... is someone doing my cellac?" The ladies were very confused and it seems like there was a lack of communication between the receptionists (owners, I believe). The lady who did my cellac was also great and super friendly and didn't rush. But I felt SO bad about making her stay! I didn't end up leaving until about 8:30pm. Fast forward a week and a half. Awful! Most of my cellac has chipped and it's really disappointing because cellac generally lasts me 3 solid weeks, but this one only lasted me about 1.5 weeks. I went because I had a gift card for this nail salon, I probably wouldn't go if I had to fully pay out of pocket. It's a pretty steep price tag. It was $77 for pedicure and cellac, including tip. Also, the same male receptionist called me about 2 days after my appointment to confirm my appointment that day ... I already went two days ago!??! They definitely need to tighten up their scheduling.
