Best pedis I've found on the Peninsula. Kimmy and Holly are both great and take their time to do a good job. The customer service has always been excellent (hot tea, prompt service, good magazines, etc). Last time I was wearing tight jeans and they even offered me a skirt to change into. I'd give negative stars if i could. This place used to be fantastic! My friend and I would come every other week and had a great rapport with the staff. By some miracle my friend and I both found childcare for all our kids and decided to call for two pedicures. I called this morning and asked for an appointment at 12:30pm. Confirmed. She called me back 45 minutes later and asked to push our appointments to 12:45pm. Sure, no problem. We hit road construction on our way up and were 8 minutes late and the manager/owner told us she couldn't accommodate us and was extremely rude about it. Wow this place is a gem. I booked an appointment and Emily let me try sugaring vs. waxing and it was so much less pain! She is so nice and informative. Emily took great care that everything was just as I wanted. I got a real sense that Loma Spa chooses quality over quantity. Great service; very obvious that Loma Spa cares about their customers' happiness. Most people working speak excellent English which is a nice when making appointments over the phone. Even when closing time is approaching, they take their time on the hot stone massage (hot stone usually not included in regular pedi package at other places as far as I know). This place is a total gem. Nail salons are terrifying to me since I am a chronic nail-biter. The technicians are SO friendly and grateful- just good people overall. They make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in, offering you tea or water to drink. Don't even get me started with the nail quality. I always get french tips and this is hands down the BEST tips I have EVER gotten. All products are extremely high quality and organic- the best you can get. They always have promotions and the owner made sure I got my first time discount, I didn't even bring it up. This place is a true gem. The staff is extremely professional and all of the ladies that have provided services to me (manicures, pedicures, eyelash extensions) are very kind and supportive. A lot of places just feel like factories, turning out client after client. However when I go to Loma Spa, they make you feel like you are the only client that they care about at the moment. Customer service is definitely at the heart of this business... this is something you can tell the moment you walk inside. It doesn't matter which person I get for a manicure and pedicure, I've had them all and have been extremely pleased with the level of detail and thoughtfulness put into each service. They have a wide selection of high quality polishes to choose from, and I've found my gel manicures to be extremely durable. They also remove old gel jobs for free, which I really appreciate. I wanted to look beautiful for three baby showers that I was going to attend, so I decided to get eyelash extensions. I wish I had a picture of them, because they turned out beautifully! I got lots of compliments on them and found that because they made my eyes looks so beautiful, I barely had to put on any additional makeup to get ready in the morning. Without makeup, I looked fantastic! The lady who did them was very meticulous and professional, and I couldn't be more happy with them. I had these done for a few months, but decided to discontinue them because of the price. It's not that this salon was overpriced for this service, it's just that eyelash extensions are expensive, no matter where you go. If I had the money, I would get these done all the time! The receptionists are extremely professional and they are very accommodating to shifting appointments around, etc. The atmosphere is very clean and peaceful. The pedicures are amazing but never get your eyebrows done here. The pedicure came with an amazing hot stone massage and lasted around 2-3 weeks. And like any decent salon, they a fair share tabloids to indulge in :) The eyebrows however, are a totally different story. Since they had eyebrow service and I was due for a touch up, I told them I just wanted to get them touched up and thinned out a little bit. During the process, she went unusually fast and I had a weird feeling about the whole process. Lo and behold, less than 5 minutes later, I had uneven eyebrows. uneven. not okay. I told her that my eyebrows looked uneven but the woman who was doing them merely waved me off and told me they were fine. That was months ago and finally my eyebrows are starting to have some sense of symmetry. So come here for great pedicures, but not for eyebrows. read more

I'm embarrassed to have followed the high Yelp rating to select this place and take my friend there for her birthday treat. I called them the next day because my friend (although the manicure was beautiful) had the side of her finger clipped! One hates getting cut but in a business where there is a lot of clipping of skin around the fingers, a mistake is bound to happen occasionally. I called the spa the next day and left a message that my friend's finger was cut and an apology might make the situation better. They called her back and asked her to come to the spa. She did and was fairly pleasant to them. This is easy to be, because they are pleasant too. Unfortunately, Loma Spa was more interested in blaming my friend for dry skin than making amends for the accidental cut. They did apologize but didn't acknowledge the mistake. Meh. read more

I usually don't give out 5 stars but I thought this place deserved it. I haven't been to a spa like this since I moved back to the bay area. The staff is friendly and offer you a complimentary cup of water or tea to help ease you into a calm state. I went for the Feb special for a spa pedi with a mani for a photo shoot I was going to be doing this past weekend. The price was only $45 and I love that they accept credit cards. Some of those 'too Asian' places charge the same price for a mani/pedi but they don't accept cards or they charge you extra for using them, which, I think, is a load of bull. Also those other places don't give you the same kind of service that Loma gave me. But enough about the other places. Let's focus on Loma. It's very clean feeling and the staff is very knowledgeable about everything. They don't rush through you like you're another customer. Karen (I think that's her name) was very kind and chatted a little with me while she was giving me a pedicure. Very sweet! Also, their nail polish selection was all OPI with the exception of one Essie colour. Top notch! All in all, a good place to go. Je suis heureuse avec mes choix. =) read more

Just had a facial with Helen - It was an amazing experience. I've had facials from a few different spas, and the ones at Well Within in Santa Cruz had always been my favorite. Helen's facials trump Well Within's! it was a luxurious experience, and my skin was so clear afterwards! She gave me a few habit-changing suggestions for my particular skin type, which has completely changed everything. I used to get oily skin mid-day, now I don't. Well really it is the team of Iris and Kim, I would follow them to the ends of the earth. The price is good for the deluxe mani/ pedi, $40 for the both and worth so much more. I usually have Iris and her hands are so strong and precise, the massages she gives are divine an always hit the spot, always appreciate hot stones too! Come here for the mani/pedi combo or just one of them, you won't want to go anywhere else. I have tried giving other places a chance but they are never as good. About an hour for each service and you come out feeling so relaxed and soothed, with a pretty coat of paint on top to remind you of the great experience. Received a french manicure and pedicure and it turned out flawless. The whole experience was relaxing, unlike the standard painful ordeal of your toes getting filed down and your cuticles being clipped off. They were gentle and my nails turned out wonderful. You can tell they pay very close attention (particularly for detailed requests, nail art or french, etc) and are careful to immediately correct themselves if they mess up the nail even a little. The ladies who work here are friendly and personable and that makes the experience even more comfortable. Make sure you call for an appointment; while it says walk-ins are welcome, they are generally pretty booked. It's not a huge salon either, so if you bring more than two friends with you there will be some delay and waiting time. read more

I went to Loma twice, the first time was to fix my eye brow which was a pretty decent experience. The 2nd time, they talked me into doing a facial which turned out to be a disaster. I never had break out after doing facial but for the very first time, my face was all red for days! And I find it annoying when they wear gloves to rub against your face, I would highly recommend you not to go there for facial. read more
