This is a very well run Long John Silvers. Very friendly staff and good fish options. Everything's fried on demand, hot and crispy. Neighborhood is all businesses so nothing fancy there, but the restaurant is clean and neat. The fried cod is the best.

I grew up visiting the location by Capital Plaza. I have not had LJS in over a decade and decided to test this location out. I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food. I had the fish and chicken plate that I shared with my toddler. She very much enjoyed the chicken and fries. I enjoyed the fish and coleslaw. The hush puppies were nostalgic to me. I used the drive thru so I did not see the inside of the restaurant. My server was pleasant. My food was hot and out very quickly. I would recommend to other families to come on by!

Maybe the amount due was a clue a plate was missing. Wonder who kept the change. The restaurant or the Uber driver.

Just about the worst experience ordering on Uber from this restaurant. They not only forgot one fish plate, but didn't add any condiments like TARTAR sauce. How do you not add any condiments for 4 fish plates ? Unbelievable!! Called several times and they never answered the phone. I will never order from this place again. Was my first and last time. Had to order from a completely different fish restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Mixture of cold and hot items on the tray. Poor quality control.

TLDR: Some items were hot, some were cold. Not impressive for a place that specializes in deep-fried everything. As another user put it, "Long John Silvers is a dying breed of restaurants that serve fried fish to go." That said, you have to give them credit for enduring and out-lasting a whole bunch of their competitors over the years. Heck, the decor still looks like it's right out of the 70's, and that's saying something. Order two platters; the usual diamond-shaped pollock fillets along with fries and hushpuppies, and the rectangular cod fillets with fries and hushpuppies. The cod was hot and delicious. Everything else was lukewarm or even COLD. We were there at 10:45am on a day when they opened at 10:30. The only way they could have cold items is if they cooked them last night, or someone came in at 7am to cook them and left them out. Either way, pretty unappealing. Like I said, when hot the food's fine. But when your only product is deep-fried fill-in-the-blank, you can't get away with serving cold food. That's something to throw back, not serve. This place scores a 2 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Mid at best. Floor was greasy and trash cans were filthy. Soda machine was a bust. Food was lackin! Customer service was great! But food and place was a bust!

Tahra was very kind and patient with my order.

Long John Silvers's is a dying breed of restaurants that serve fried fish to go. Gone are its competitors such as "H. Salt Fish and Chips and the others. But Long John's has hung in there. I always visit this location after a worship team rehearsal. I love the flavor. They offer other options than just fried fish. Service here is exceptional. The drive thru speaker is clear and concise. They can actually understand your requests. My order is always correct. You must stop by and sample the catch.

I have not been to a long John silver's in probably 20 years. For some reason I got a craving today.. So I ordered through Uber eats and got fish shrimp and clams.. I'll start with the fish. It was way overcooked.. The crusting was almost too hard to bite through. And there was little to no fish inside at all.. The shrimp I'd probably give it a 3 it was it was all right but not good.. The clams were good. I also got the corn as a side and it tasted like they put some kind of chemical in it inedible The fries were probably good when they were fresh buthey were fresh but by the time I got them they were cold and fries reheated in the microwave are just disgusting. I definitely will never order from here again. I don't know what happened or when it happened but they used to be pretty good.

2 Fish & Shrimp w/ green beans & fries. Extra crumbs on the side.

The service is top tier! The staff comes by to make sure you're good constantly so you never go long waiting for refills or to get some attention for an issue. The vibe is great, TVs on & the place is always clean. I read a review complaining about the napkins & buckets that's STUPID af. Don't come to a seafood place if tha bothers you. I love that they had the whole roll of brown paper towels so we don't have to keep asking. The buckets are super helpful to clear out the soft shells of the shrimp instead of piling on a plate. The FLAVOR is ALWAYS ON POINT!!! We even tried the other location but the Round Rock location beats it! We always go for date night. It's much lower priced than @Boiling Crab & taste 100x better than their soggy shrimp! Hook & Reel is just a hard pass... it's not flavorful. LA Crawfish is not good & Krab Kings is overpriced for mid food. I make my own seafood boils & ppl would rather buy from me than go to the other locations. Surfin Crab is the only one who beats me! Most times I can't even get a pic because we dive in! Oooh & food is always fast!

I walked into Surfing Crab hoping for one of those unapologetically messy seafood boils -- the kind…read morewhere you're tying your hair back, rolling up your sleeves, and mentally preparing to smell like garlic butter for the rest of the day. Sadly... this wasn't that experience. I ordered the boil with a pound of crab, head‑on shrimp, squid, corn, and those thin little sausage slices you see at most Cajun spots. The seasoning landed squarely in the middle -- not offensive, not impressive, just sitting there like it was waiting for someone to give it direction. I asked for hot, but what I got tasted more like a medium that didn't want to commit. And the shrimp? Head‑on and not deveined. That gave them a gamy, muddy undertone that took away from the whole boil. At this price point, deveining shouldn't be a luxury add‑on. We also tried the appetizer sampler -- calamari, egg rolls, cheese sticks -- and everything tasted suspiciously similar, like it all took the same little swim in the same fryer without a break. Nothing was terrible, but nothing had personality. These were the kind of appetizers you can find anywhere, and not the kind you remember later. My partner ordered the shrimp po'boy, and while the portion was generous, the breading overwhelmed the shrimp. He ended up peeling most of it off just to get to the actual protein. When the breading becomes the main character, that's a sign the dish needs editing. Now, the mixed drinks? Those were actually good -- balanced, not overly sweet, and honestly the highlight of the meal. And I have to give credit where it's due: our waitress was attentive, friendly, and checked on us consistently without hovering. She did everything right. The food just didn't match her level of service. And look... I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I've had better crab at HEB during crawfish season for a fraction of the price. When your grocery‑store boil is hitting harder than the restaurant version, that's saying something. Overall, Surfing Crab wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't memorable either. For the price and the concept, I expected more depth, more spice, and more care in the prep. This one's a pass for me -- especially when I know I can get fresher, better‑seasoned seafood elsewhere without the premium price tag.

If you are from the Gulf Coast, you're likely to be unimpressed with The Bayou Shack in Round Rock…read more The service is great, but the execution of the menu is just okay. As Cajun/Creole transplants, we just had to give this place a try for Saturday lunch in November 2024. I suspect we'll stick with our other reliable sources for "a taste of home". If I lived nearby, I could see coming back for the cheap beer ($4 Dos XX at the time of purchase; with today's inflation & tariff talks, that price may not hold) and tavern ambiance, sticking to the pub-fare menu items. We always test a new Louisiana-inspired joint by 3 things: seafood boil, po-boy, and gumbo. By comparison, our longtime genre faves in the area that succeed on all 3 include Stuffed Cajun Meat Market, French Quarter Grille, Crawfish Shack, Deckhand Oyster Bar, and Cypress Grill. Right off the bat, the $7 cup of gumbo at Bayou Shack was a headshaker. Seasoning was weird, and it had a thick, gravy-like consistancy more like an etouffee. Strike 1. Next up, hub's $14 fried catfish poboy with Cajun spice-dusted fries. Nothing terrible here, but it was the typical not-in-LA poboy that tastes like a sandwich made by someone who does not eat poboys. Bread was a right-out-of-the-bag hoagie roll, not the crispy-on-the-outside, light-and-fluffy-on-the-inside Leidenheimer, Gendusa, or Langlinais-style, toasted french bread loaf that it should be. Strike 2. My $21 "Build Your Boil" half-pound "Bottom of the Bayou" flavor snow crab boil was pretty good, although I was offended to pay an extra $3 for the addition of a single red potato. The nicest part was the provision of proper boil-eating tools, including gloves, a bib, shell crackers, and crab leg pick, plus lemons and melted butter for dipping. I'll have to come back during crawfish season to see what I think of their offerings for that kind of boil, since the boil is where they seem to do best. Our waiter was wonderful but we didn't have the heart to tell him the truth when he asked what we thought of each dish. Our total for 3 meals at lunch before tip was $75, a bit over-the-top. $15 for chicken tenders and $5 for Sysco fries? Yikes!
