I work closed by so this might be a bit bias, I still LOVE Lou's! Not once have I ever been disappointed by a sandwich, salad or soup. I stick to my main 3 sandwiches: Roma's club, Amicado and Pesto Chicken. I get all of them in dutch crunch and it's always a perfect crisp. The staff is friendly and always doing their best on getting all the sandwiches prep, very hard working so thank you staff for keeping up with everything and with a smile on your face. It's a small establishment but has enough seats for about 15-20 people I believe. Tip: You can call ahead to pick up your sandwiches, I would recommend 15 minutes ahead of time and once you're there you can cut the line and pay but it usually feels bad when you cut people. read more

Gotta love a great tasting sandwich. Lou's does it the right way with a ton of attention to the quality of their ingredients. My go-to order is the imitation crab melt on a Dutch crunch roll. What really makes this sandwich POP is the kick you get from their spicy spread. It's so darn good! It's garlicky with the right amount of spice just to elevate the sandwich like no other. Expect to wait a little bit, especially during lunch hours. They take phone orders while managing the in-store orders. However, your order should be ready on an average of 15 minutes. The employees work so hard as they expertly and artistically assemble your sandwich. Oh, and let's talk about their wrapping skills! I'm always mesmerized as I wait for my order and watch the designated employee who places the sandwich on top of the sheet of paper, cut it down the middle, roll it, and place a sticker to seal the wrapping. Then, with one hand grab a white napkin while taking a brown bag and opening it with one snap. It really is impressive to see how fast they work! read more

Came with about 7 friends for lunch and followed the recommendations of the ones who had been here before. Split a Chicken Pesto Sandwich with one of my friends and it was a good decision; we weren't that hungry coming in but if we were a little hungrier then we most definitely would have finished our own whole sandwiches! If you've ever been tho Montague's sandwiches, I would say that this place is more balanced in terms of bread and meat/condiments. Nonetheless, my sandwich was tasty and balanced; not too much bread, not too much sauce, not too much meat (thin slices, not large chicken breast chunks) and no overwhelming amount of veggies. Also, I really appreciated how CLEAN the sandwich-eating experience was. I think you can choose the type of bread you want but we didn't know that. Stuck with the normal baguette bread which I would not recommend just because there's nothing too special about it. Tip: check out the dude that wrap the sandwiches... Although, in my opinion the food scene here is overly rated, due to restaurants trying to maximize profits. Compared to NYC, with similar cost structure, the food in NYC is cheaper and better in my opinion. We have had 3 or 4 different types of sandwiches here and all were consistently decent to good. Good sandwiches at an affordable price, but recent experiences have led me to look elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, they still serve sandwiches using good quality ingredients, but the overall attention to detail is lacking. As mentioned in other threads, the lines are very long and customers are taking forever at the register deciding on what to get. They can easily have someone taking orders outside, or at the very least have a stack of menus for everyone to look at. There is simply not much room to sit, and waiting for your food while crammed at this increasingly popular spot is not pleasant. A boba shop opened up next door, so I really wish they would've expanded to give their customers some extra room to eat. Finally, the sandwiches are starting to arrive cold. Best hidden sandwich shop. Like OMG this is the best sandwich I ever had. I loved the sourdough bread. It's the perfect softness and crunch. My first reaction to the sandwich was oh it's ok, but that changed after a few more bites. The sandwich is so flavorful and the sourdough bread goes really well with it. This is the Pomaikai Sandwich without the pineapple. You won't be disappointed. I'm so sad it's so far from me but I will definitely stop by again to try their other sandwiches. read more

I recently walked all the way to Lou's Cafe from the 9th Ave library. I checkout out a very big and heavy book called "John Singer Sargent." He was a very great painter in America. The librarian tells me "are you sure you want the book it is oversize?" Yes, I reserve it ,I will take it . Anyway as I've said before I have the problems with my back. By time I reach Lou Cafe, I am starting to feel pain from Sargent book. I hear there are inserts for the shoes that help also. If so, please reply with name of this. I've been here a few times and the sandwiches are good, however, this last order will prevent me from returning. 1) I ordered take out online to split a sandwich with my man. I was very clear in the instructions about no Lou's sauce and no mayo. (Boyfriend is extremely sensitive to ANY kind of mayo!) 2) At pick-up, the employee read the order in the bag.. Italian Club, no Lou's, no mayo. (I got a side of Lou's sauce for my 1/2). 3) I separated the sandwich at home to add my Lou's sauce only to discover that both sides of the bread we drenched in mayo. I don't think I have ever been to a lunch spot that had a line out the door at 9am!!! (they open at 8am)... This place is tiny, although they DO have a handful of tables. People were crammed in to the tables eating and conversing. The menu is a giant chalkboard style over the kitchen. Lot's to choose from. We ordered our Lou-Ben, and LLB sandwiches (too much stuff to describe here), and they were simply awesome! It was magic watching the staff creating all of the sandwiches and sooo fast... Take a minute to actually watch the guy who wraps the finished sandwiches. . . kind of amazing the speed and accuracy. We took ours to go, as we were heading off the GG Park... I will definitely have Lou's on my hit list for when we are heading out for a picnic... Totally worth waiting in line, even at 9am..
