Coffee was terrible then attacked by the aggressive birds right as I walked out of the door, my kid lost his greasy sandwich anyway. Overall awful experience. Would help if they let people know to eat inside or under an umbrella. Birds apparently do this all the time. They attack from above, beware! I stopped here after riding 16 miles and was headed back home. I don't understand the other reviews! It's not all about service! The Açaí Bowl was the best I've ever had, hands down!!! I loved that it was more solid than soupy and so rich in flavor! The girl at the counter was the only one there and while she wasn't overly talkative (which I appreciate), she kept her cool to the other extremely rude customers and served everyone with the same level of courtesy. Everyone needs to stop being offended all the time. I'll definitely be back! In fact, I'd go out of my way or to Monterey just to go get that Açaí Bowl. read more

Well here we are a year later. We spent the morning at the beach and were hungry. Decided to try again because of Kevin's response. Hoping for some interaction from the employees. We went in for an açaí bowl - "the machine is down" so we got paninis instead. No change in the customer service. The woman at the register was just "there"...barely. Our 21 year old daughter described her as apathetic. Definitely won't be back. Sooo many amazing food places in this chill and gorgeous town. Here's the kicker, they are unable to make 75% of the coffee items on the chalkboard THAT ARE LISTED AS OPTIONS!!! Seriously? I asked for iced coffee on a 75 degree sunny day and was told I could have a glass of ice cubes and pour HOT COFFEE in the cup, are you freakin kidding me? Totally absurd! About 8-10 people tried to order a cold coffee and walked out. This kinda speaks to the quality of the hired help that would consider than an option. They were so blah and not interested interacting with you that the whole encounter was horribly awkward. We ordered two paninis - meatloaf barely so-so and the fatty, soggy ring of bacon around it didn't help. The ankle biter was a bit better but it is difficult to screw up grilled ham and cheese. The outdoor seating, which is open to the public, is delightful. Clean with a breathtaking waterfront view. So maybe you could stop at Starbucks to get a coffee and stop there and enjoy the view because it isn't going to happen with their place. read more

Everything is great! We spent a week in Pacific Grove very close to this cafe. It became our morning spot for coffee and out go to for a quick bite. Free refills on regular coffee, Muffins to die for (especially the morning glory). the breakfast sandwiches are filling and actually sharing size. The sandwiches have a great mix of flavors and variety. If you are a wimp like me, watch out for the sauce - I believe it is chipotle aioli. But they are more than accomodating to omit or go light on the sauce. read more

We encountered one of the rudest young ladies I've ever met! The awkward experience began when I asked if I could order a side of bacon with our order. Her reply, "I'm not sure we do that and you probably wouldn't want to." In my head I thought, if I didn't want the bacon I wouldn't have asked but I kept the response in my head and figured the bacon was that thin Denny's type of bacon better left in pastries rather than on the side. She put the scone on a plate and I asked her for a bag for the scone, she tried to hand me a large plastic bag. When I asked her if that's how she served scones she gave me the container. When we finally got my husbands sandwich with thick juicy bacon, she added in the paper separating the cheeses in the package. In the five minutes I was there I decided I'd never be back. Rounding up from 3 1/2 stars because of friendly, efficient service and their summer music series, which features some excellent local musicians. They give a pretty good pour on the red wine and have some decent beer selections. While the Cuban Reuben (made with ham & pulled pork) on their regular menu isn't to my taste (way too sweet), they had a corned beef Reuben as a special, and it was very good, considering its modest $7.90 price tag. (Some Reubens in the area cost twice that amount.) The bottled Ocean Spray orange juice tasted a bit funky, but everything else I've had there is above average. read more

My waffle with fruit was about three inches across with a few cut pieces of fruit, not what was expected for the rather high price, even higher than the convenient location would warrant. My cappuccino was at best descriptive of the name but certainly lacked in every other way. I would suggest you try the other food outlet on the other side of the beach. Just saying. read more

We decided to try this place out on a Saturday morning for a quick bite prior to a stroll on Pacific Grove's lovely coast. The acacia bowl was borderline inedible. Maybe we're just picky since we've had some amazing acacia bowls. The latte was subpar. I did like their Crabby Jim panini but prob would have just given that 3.5 stars. It wasn't anything great. The service was also terrible. When I asked about our food being ready I was responded in a snotty way. Bad customer service is never acceptable. If you hate your job, find another one. The staff is friendly, the location is perfect. But the food is way too sweet. I'm nauseous from the sugar overload. I ordered the waffle with bacon inside, the acai bowl, and the sunrise muffin. The muffin was actually the least sweet and it was on par with other muffins I've had. The waffle dough, I believe, had a cup of either sugar or maple syrup in it. The bacon was a welcome salty contrast. The acai bowl was good and the fruit was fresh. I'll likely return to try a sandwich but I'm done with breakfast. read more

I've been here at least 10 times over the last few months. I just now started using Yelp so I thought I'd check it out. I have to admit I'm a bit blown away and confused by some of the reviews. I've been here at all different times of day. Morning and afternoon. Have never had an issue with the promptness or friendliness of the staff. If there is one complaint it would be I wish they were open even MORE hours. The muffins are huge and full of flavor. Lemon or apple bars are delicious. So i waited 5 more minutes then walked up to ask if my sandwhich was ready.
